  1. (06:42:52) Syd: Hey Cheeseness
  2. (06:42:58) Permafry_42: Hey cheese
  3. (06:43:47) Cheeseness: Morning people
  4. (06:44:47) beansmyname: I have the link to the twitch if you need it.
  5. (06:44:54) beansmyname: Morning/Day, Cheeseness
  6. (06:45:12) Cheeseness: We've still got 15 minutes, right?
  7. (06:45:12) Permafry_42: Out of curiosity has anyone here read the book ready player one?
  8. (06:45:18) Syd: Yeah
  9. (06:45:23) Permafry_42: yup no rush =D
  10. (06:45:27) Cheeseness: Sweet, sweet
  11. (06:47:15) Permafry_42: i take it no one else has read it then?
  12. (06:47:50) Syd: The name is familiar but I haven't read it
  13. (06:48:24) Cheeseness: Same here
  14. (06:48:45) Permafry_42: highly recommended; think willy wonka if he had been a game designer, but its way better due to the sheer geekiness of it all
  15. (06:49:32) beansmyname: My wife has read it and won't shut up about it. Why do you ask, Permafry_42?
  16. (06:50:46) Permafry_42: its even getting a steven spielberg movie adaption, which i'm still amazed they're actually doing since they'll need to get the rights to basically hundreds of different series and franchises that are all a core part of the book's story
  17. (06:51:03) Syd: This session might be a bit on the long side again, Going to try to complete all of act 2 in one go.
  18. (06:51:24) Permafry_42: http://www.shmoop.com/ready-player-one/allusions.html
  19. (06:52:19) Permafry_42: it even alludes to several adventure games such as zork and adventure
  20. (06:52:34) Cheeseness: Bumpx0rzed
  21. (06:53:07) beansmyname: You may not recall, but Steven Spielberg was a Doom fan. Long ago, in ages since past, Steven Spielberg and Robin Williams dreamt of creating an adaptation of the 3d shooter.
  22. (06:53:56) Permafry_42: most interesting though is that one of the characters seems to be inspired by either Ron Gilbert or Tim Schafer
  23. (06:54:00) beansmyname: So, he's already a game fan, so maybe he'll have the desire to see it through.
  24. (06:54:13) Permafry_42: yeah i can only hope so
  25. (06:54:31) Permafry_42: what's amazing is that this was the author's first published book and its already a huge hit
  26. (06:56:05) Syd: Got about 5 minutes to go before we go live
  27. (06:56:10) Permafry_42: oh yeah and the audiobook is great too; ready by will wheaton
  28. (06:56:12) DarkWaterSong [Mibbit@hide-DB446491.lightspeed.vntrca.sbcglobal.net] entered the room.
  29. (06:56:16) Cheeseness: Hi DarkWaterSong
  30. (06:56:22) Permafry_42: hi darkwatersong!
  31. (06:56:33) DarkWaterSong: Waves
  32. (06:56:53) DarkWaterSong: The short hand people often use is DWS for my name
  33. (06:57:50) DarkWaterSong left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  34. (06:57:59) Cheeseness: So, today we're streaming to a temporary channel. Anybody who visits Twitch directly or uses Livestreamer will need to use twitch.tv/dfgameclubtemp
  35. (06:59:11) Permafry_42: hopefully this act will be a little less dialogue heavy
  36. (06:59:38) beansmyname: What do you have against dialogue? :p
  37. (06:59:48) Cheeseness: This just in, Permafry_42 hates dialogue
  38. (06:59:51) Sven_Q45 [Mibbit@hide-95E4FC60.dip0.t-ipconnect.de] entered the room.
  39. (06:59:54) Cheeseness: :D
  40. (06:59:54) Sven_Q45: hi.
  41. (06:59:56) Cheeseness: Hey Sven_Q45
  42. (07:00:02) Sven_Q45: Phew I´m not to late.
  43. (07:00:09) Sven_Q45: Hi Cheese.
  44. (07:00:20) Permafry_42: i didn't think i had anything against it until i saw the intro to this game lol
  45. (07:00:22) Syd: There's still a lot of dialogue. The whole game has lots. But there's also more of items being used on things and stuff like that
  46. (07:00:32) Permafry_42: ah that's good
  47. (07:00:51) Fhqwhgod [Mibbit@hide-5F7EE7E7.dip0.t-ipconnect.de] entered the room.
  48. (07:01:00) Permafry_42: i like games bet when they have a good flow
  49. (07:01:05) Permafry_42: *best
  50. (07:01:20) Permafry_42: hey Fhqwhgod!
  51. (07:01:32) Syd: Okay, going live. Let me know when the title card is up.
  52. (07:01:50) Fhqwhgod: live
  53. (07:01:54) Sven_Q45: Live!
  54. (07:02:10) Sven_Q45: It´s alive. :D
  55. (07:02:31) Permafry_42: yup live
  56. (07:02:36) Cheeseness: Whose is that handsome voice?
  57. (07:03:02) Sven_Q45: That cheesy voice. :D
  58. (07:03:09) Fhqwhgod: some moldy old cheese
  59. (07:03:19) Cheeseness: So I remember first time I played Discworld 1, I felt like the portrayal of Rincewind didn't quite match what I had in my head
  60. (07:03:28) Cheeseness: But afterward, I couldn't imagine him without Eric Idle's voice
  61. (07:03:47) Fhqwhgod: everyone should have Eric's voice
  62. (07:03:48) Cheeseness: The perspective in that scene is mad :D
  63. (07:04:03) beansmyname: I'd rather have Michael Palin's voice, thank you.
  64. (07:04:08) Sven_Q45: It´s nice but I´m used tzo the German voice.
  65. (07:04:10) Syd: Gotta talk to Skazz again unfortunately so his dialogue is gonna take a bit to get through
  66. (07:04:11) Sven_Q45: to
  67. (07:04:14) Permafry_42: i think i forgot to mention this last week but i enjoy the dialogue interface
  68. (07:04:30) GameClubFan_985851 [Mibbit@hide-88E6C4CB.bb.online.no] entered the room.
  69. (07:04:40) Permafry_42: reminds me of how full throttle has a nice interface
  70. (07:05:51) Cheeseness: Weren't computers called "com pewter" or something like that in the books?
  71. (07:06:00) Cheeseness: Why is this a "computron"?
  72. (07:06:38) Cheeseness: Ah, bean tells me that I'm getting my authors mixed up :D
  73. (07:06:50) Sven_Q45: Computer and Neutron.
  74. (07:06:55) Cheeseness: I love how much the game slows down when we talk to that guy
  75. (07:06:58) Sven_Q45: ?
  76. (07:08:09) beansmyname: The "Com Pewter" was the most powerful being in Xanth. Piers Anthony.
  77. (07:08:11) Sven_Q45 left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  78. (07:09:34) Cheeseness: Since I wasn't here last week, I'm still giggling at the notion of a "suffrajester"
  79. (07:10:18) Sven_Q45 [Mibbit@hide-95E4FC60.dip0.t-ipconnect.de] entered the room.
  80. (07:10:50) Sven_Q45: For a short time I went to Twitch. :D
  81. (07:11:00) Cheeseness: Was it fun over there?

  86. (07:13:14) GameClubFan_985851 left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  87. (07:13:40) JelDeRebel [Mibbit@hide-7B2EA1C8.access.telenet.be] entered the room.
  88. (07:13:53) salty-horse [ori@hide-B65EEEE5.red.bezeqint.net] entered the room.
  89. (07:13:53) JelDeRebel: splat

  91. (07:14:00) Cheeseness: Hey salty-horse
  92. (07:14:05) salty-horse: I'm here!
  93. (07:14:08) salty-horse: so

  95. (07:14:09) Permafry_42: Hey guys

  97. (07:14:23) JelDeRebel: soo what game is it this week>
  98. (07:14:35) Cheeseness: JelDeRebel: The one that's mentioned in the channel topic, Discworld 2
  99. (07:14:42) JelDeRebel: never heard of it
  100. (07:14:50) Sven_Q45: Hallo Jel.
  101. (07:15:18) Permafry_42: already enjoying the dialogue more =D
  102. (07:15:29) Cheeseness: Is that fellow's head on backwards?
  103. (07:15:48) salty-horse: this was the introduction to Discworld for me. it prompted me to find the translated books in a national book fair and try them out
  104. (07:15:51) JelDeRebel: that fellow has a cute butt
  105. (07:15:51) Syd: He's just got a very flexible neck
  106. (07:15:54) JelDeRebel: for a old guy
  107. (07:16:30) beansmyname: Hey! You back off old guys! :p

  116. (07:20:20) Fhqwhgod: let me check one of my 300 AOL CD Roms
  117. (07:20:26) JelDeRebel: what's AOL?
  118. (07:20:44) Fhqwhgod: an old internet provider
  119. (07:20:58) Fhqwhgod: sending out it's software on billions of CDs
  120. (07:21:07) Sven_Q45: I think that was not a real question. :D
  121. (07:21:11) JelDeRebel: old as in dialup?
  122. (07:21:19) beansmyname: Yes. That old.
  123. (07:21:25) JelDeRebel: ouch
  124. (07:21:34) Cheeseness: heh
  125. (07:21:38) beansmyname: However, AOL is still around. They've morphed into a media company, of sorts now.
  126. (07:21:39) Fhqwhgod: Sven it might have. Who knows if they operated in Belgium
  127. (07:22:07) Sven_Q45: You can use AOL in Germany.
  128. (07:22:09) JelDeRebel: nah belgum too small a market to operate.
  129. (07:22:15) Sven_Q45: But I´m more for SOL. :P
  130. (07:22:43) JelDeRebel: Sexy orifice leeches?
  131. (07:23:12) beansmyname: Are the leeches sexy, the orifices sexy or is orifice leech a descriptive term?
  132. (07:23:33) Cheeseness: So, Discworld
  133. (07:23:39) JelDeRebel: wow the white dude slapped that sleeping woman
  134. (07:23:44) JelDeRebel: i call sexism

  137. (07:24:03) Cheeseness: He's checking
  138. (07:24:21) Sven_Q45: Where is he checking?
  139. (07:24:30) Cheeseness: The cheek
  140. (07:24:51) JelDeRebel: I dont even
  141. (07:24:52) Sven_Q45: What cheek...
  142. (07:24:52) Cheeseness: Oh, that was unexpected
  143. (07:24:55) beansmyname: WOW!
  144. (07:25:03) beansmyname: He certainly should be.
  145. (07:25:05) Cheeseness: Look at those umm icicles?

  147. (07:26:01) JelDeRebel: you should stream super metroid!
  148. (07:26:13) Cheeseness: You should stream super metroid!
  149. (07:26:36) Fhqwhgod: everybody should stream Super Metroid
  150. (07:26:37) JelDeRebel: o_O
  151. (07:26:43) Cheeseness: \o/
  152. (07:26:51) Cheeseness: So, there was a bit of a Monty Python reference back there
  153. (07:27:14) Fhqwhgod: I heard so many python quotes in here
  154. (07:27:29) JelDeRebel: speaking of streaming, I have no idea where my pc micbar is since I moved to this new appartment
  155. (07:27:30) Cheeseness: Although, it was Eric Idle who was pulling the cart
  156. (07:27:31) Fhqwhgod: maybe I just imagine things because of Eric
  157. (07:27:31) Syd: There's a very blatant one later on that even has "Monty Python reference" in flashing text on the bottom of the screen
  158. (07:27:38) Cheeseness: Hah
  159. (07:28:02) Cheeseness: I think this is the nicest background that we've seen so far
  160. (07:28:13) Syd: At least, it's blatant if you've seen Life of Brian. Which you should have.
  161. (07:28:21) Cheeseness: Yes
  162. (07:28:29) JelDeRebel: pfft Monty Python is sooo 70's
  163. (07:28:36) Cheeseness: Lots of good things are
  164. (07:28:38) Fhqwhgod: they could do so much with such a low resolution
  165. (07:29:01) Cheeseness: This ship deck one is pretty good too
  166. (07:29:15) JelDeRebel: yeah I have yet too meet a girl here who likes Monty Python
  167. (07:29:27) Cheeseness: It's colour restrictions that are a bigger thing than resolution, I think
  168. (07:29:32) ***Fhqwhgod a likely story
  169. (07:30:29) Cheeseness: Yay
  170. (07:30:43) JelDeRebel: cant wait for summer sales
  171. (07:30:51) JelDeRebel: made about 30 euro from card farming on steam
  172. (07:30:52) Cheeseness: Death is my hero
  173. (07:31:13) Sven_Q45: At last! Death!
  174. (07:31:47) JelDeRebel: I have to admit that the voic acting is weird
  175. (07:32:02) JelDeRebel: doesnt fit the characters imo
  176. (07:32:12) Syd: Death had a different VA in the first Discworld game but he died between that one and this one.
  177. (07:32:13) Cheeseness: Have you read many Discworld novels?
  178. (07:32:18) Sven_Q45: He has to bring back his inventor...
  179. (07:32:22) Sven_Q45: :)
  180. (07:32:43) Syd: But Eric Idle feels pretty spot on as Rincewind to me
  181. (07:32:43) Sven_Q45: No Cheese.
  182. (07:32:59) Sven_Q45: VA of Death is dead...
  183. (07:33:01) Cheeseness: I started with Guards! Guards!
  184. (07:33:11) Cheeseness: Which from what I've read so far is the best one
  185. (07:33:40) JelDeRebel: soo who's doing the stream?
  186. (07:33:45) Syd: I started with The Colour of Magic
  187. (07:33:46) Cheeseness: Syd's the one streaming today
  188. (07:33:48) Syd: I'm streaming
  189. (07:34:01) Cheeseness: After Guards! Guards! I went back to the beginning
  190. (07:34:54) JelDeRebel: whats with the chsts with legs?
  191. (07:35:00) Cheeseness: That's Luggage
  192. (07:35:02) JelDeRebel: or are those penises?
  193. (07:35:06) Cheeseness: A character from the Discworld novels
  194. (07:35:16) JelDeRebel: never heard of discworld
  195. (07:35:37) Cheeseness: Not heard of AOL or Discworld? Where have you been? :D
  196. (07:35:43) Fhqwhgod: did I miss the penises. Aww
  197. (07:36:10) Sven_Q45: @Jel lol
  198. (07:36:14) JelDeRebel: i've been in a country that's too small for any foreign business to invest in
  199. (07:36:42) JelDeRebel: can you imagine we dont have burger king here
  200. (07:37:07) JelDeRebel: and the only starbucks is in the airport
  201. (07:37:21) beansmyname: But some of us are secure.
  202. (07:37:36) Cheeseness: I don't think we have Burger King here either ^_^
  203. (07:37:46) beansmyname: Well, consider yourselves lucky.
  204. (07:37:50) beansmyname: Your not missing anything.
  205. (07:37:55) beansmyname: *You're
  206. (07:37:56) JelDeRebel: who needs fast food anyway?
  207. (07:38:02) Sven_Q45: Australia? No BK?
  208. (07:38:07) JelDeRebel: I prepare my meals fresh
  209. (07:38:09) Cheeseness: We have "Hungry Jack's", which I hear is similar, but I've never eaten there
  210. (07:38:13) Cheeseness: Fresh food for the win
  211. (07:38:23) Cheeseness: Ha ha ha ha, Death's face in the mirror
  212. (07:38:25) Fhqwhgod left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  213. (07:38:45) JelDeRebel: I'd do tha make up woman
  214. (07:38:52) JelDeRebel: i'd totally
  215. (07:39:13) Cheeseness: Calm down
  216. (07:39:16) beansmyname: I'd do the luggage.
  217. (07:39:29) JelDeRebel: you have lower standards than I do
  218. (07:39:40) Syd: beansmyname: Sounds dangerous
  219. (07:40:22) beansmyname: Well, if it's The Luggage from the books, yes. This Luggage is kinda cuddly.
  220. (07:40:30) Cheeseness: Was that a joke? Did he just say "I'm not in the mood for Idle conversation"?
  221. (07:40:49) beansmyname: The capitalization was a typo not caught by QA. Relax. :p
  222. (07:41:11) GameClubFan_440638 [Mibbit@hide-5CE8C493.as13285.net] entered the room.
  223. (07:41:28) JelDeRebel: damn the QA
  224. (07:41:36) Cheeseness: It does feel like there is some disparity between the voice acting though
  225. (07:42:16) GameClubFan_440638 left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  226. (07:42:21) beansmyname: Oh man, that background snoring is madness-inducing.
  227. (07:42:31) Syd: That'll be gone soon
  228. (07:42:34) JelDeRebel: is it me or are most pnc games boring as hell?
  229. (07:42:37) Syd: But yeah, it is
  230. (07:42:42) beansmyname: It's just you.
  231. (07:42:44) Cheeseness: Just you, JelDeRebel. Just you
  232. (07:43:09) beansmyname: Hard to get anyone here to agree with that sentiment. We're here by choice. :D
  233. (07:43:09) Sven_Q45: JeldeRebel It´s no Manga eh?
  234. (07:43:10) JelDeRebel: i grew up on super mariokart and super mario world
  235. (07:43:24) JelDeRebel: played those games for 4 years before I had anything else to play
  236. (07:43:34) Cheeseness: Ah, the pinnacle of not-boring games
  237. (07:44:35) Cheeseness: Trolls in the Discworld universe are awesome
  238. (07:44:55) JelDeRebel: imo the troll should be naked
  239. (07:45:02) JelDeRebel: lose the loincloth or whatever that is
  240. (07:45:22) Sven_Q45: No nude cheat here. :D

  246. (07:48:01) Cheeseness: Logic win
  247. (07:48:15) beansmyname: Holy crap! Alternate Universe theories as deus ex machina long before Bioshock Infinite!
  248. (07:48:27) Cheeseness: beansmyname: Nothing Irrational does is original
  249. (07:48:34) beansmyname: Or the middle two books of the Ender quadrology.
  250. (07:48:40) Cheeseness: (I don't mean that - I've never played anything by them :D )
  251. (07:48:53) beansmyname: Very few modern works of art can be completely original.
  252. (07:49:32) Cheeseness: Dibbler's a director? :D
  253. (07:49:56) Cheeseness: Dibbler is a recurring character in the novels
  254. (07:50:03) JelDeRebel: wait i was wondering wher ethe mouse cursor was all this time
  255. (07:50:10) JelDeRebel: but it's those sparkly things
  256. (07:50:10) beansmyname: Oh! That was a conversation choice! I thought the popup was inventory and wondered how you were carrying a gorgeous babe.
  257. (07:50:54) Syd: She does actually go in your inventory
  258. (07:51:13) Cheeseness: Winnar?
  259. (07:51:21) JelDeRebel: needs more debauchery violence and sin
  260. (07:51:45) Cheeseness: There's enough of that in Ankh Morpork already
  261. (07:52:20) beansmyname: So jelly. I want the ability to carry gorgeous people in my inventory.
  262. (07:52:21) JelDeRebel: not sure what ankh morpork is
  263. (07:52:47) Cheeseness: It's a major city in the Discworld universe
  264. (07:53:06) Syd: These gerbi-err-camels are so noisy.
  265. (07:53:22) Cheeseness: Real camels are
  266. (07:53:33) JelDeRebel: i'd pork those camels
  267. (07:53:47) Cheeseness: JelDeRebel: Tone it down please
  268. (07:54:05) JelDeRebel: can't help it
  269. (07:54:08) JelDeRebel: I have a one track mind
  270. (07:54:16) Cheeseness: Come back after Game Club then :b
  271. (07:55:30) Sven_Q45: Jel meant the meat not the intercourse. ;)
  272. (07:55:46) JelDeRebel: yes it was quite obvious
  273. (07:55:56) Sven_Q45: hrhr
  274. (07:55:59) Cheeseness: I still feel like Discworld Noir is the strongest Discworld game
  275. (07:56:01) JelDeRebel: anyway brb toilet break, PAUSE THE GAME
  276. (07:56:19) Syd: Too bad Discworld Noir is so hard to run on a modern machine
  277. (07:56:24) Cheeseness: I know, right :(
  278. (07:56:36) Sven_Q45: JelDeRebel I found some video for you about yer fav. manga... :D
  279. (07:57:46) JelDeRebel: sven what is your obsession with manga today?
  280. (07:58:00) Sven_Q45: oh nothing
  281. (07:58:21) Cheeseness: Discworld has always had a fairly flimsy fourth wall
  282. (07:58:33) JelDeRebel: hmm hummus
  283. (07:58:40) beansmyname: Popping what?
  284. (07:58:52) beansmyname: Hoo-moo-s?
  285. (07:59:10) JelDeRebel: hummus is awesome

  290. (08:01:09) JelDeRebel: been a while
  291. (08:01:21) Syd: Have you seen Life of Brian
  292. (08:01:30) Cheeseness: "No women at the stoning"
  293. (08:01:34) JelDeRebel: yes
  294. (08:01:43) JelDeRebel: oh righto
  295. (08:02:05) Cheeseness: The implication is that they take that rock and throw it on the guy conducting the stoning in Life of Brian
  296. (08:02:26) Syd: The most blatant of the references to that is coming up in a bit
  297. (08:02:26) JelDeRebel: yes i figured once you mentioned the stoning
  298. (08:02:34) Sven_Q45: Uri Djeller. lol
  299. (08:02:41) Cheeseness: There have been a stack of references to Monty Python skits
  300. (08:03:07) Syd: It's so blatant that they apologize for how blatant it is in the flashing text at the bottom
  301. (08:03:47) JelDeRebel: if you remove the D and r from Djeller
  302. (08:03:53) JelDeRebel: that how you prounonce my name
  303. (08:05:02) Sven_Q45: Mon Dieu. :D
  304. (08:05:11) JelDeRebel: soo that world map
  305. (08:05:21) JelDeRebel: is that a reference to some real place?
  306. (08:05:36) Cheeseness: It's the world of Discworld
  307. (08:05:45) Cheeseness: Pretty sure there are maps in some of the books
  308. (08:06:13) JelDeRebel: i'm imagining that VA doing a nr 2 when he says "strain"
  309. (08:06:30) JelDeRebel: what is this discworld about anyway?
  310. (08:06:35) Cheeseness: Lots of things
  311. (08:06:56) Cheeseness: The books riff on/parody lots of common fantasy/pop culture trappings
  312. (08:07:49) Cheeseness: Most of the early books follow Rincewind here
  313. (08:07:53) Sven_Q45: 'Strain? :D
  314. (08:08:01) Cheeseness: Some follow Death
  315. (08:08:16) Cheeseness: Some of them are standalone
  316. (08:08:22) Cheeseness: Some are more direct continuations
  317. (08:08:27) JelDeRebel: wish ihad more time to read
  318. (08:08:32) Cheeseness: I do too
  319. (08:08:41) JelDeRebel: ahvent finsihed brave new world nor catch 22, atlas shrugged
  320. (08:08:53) Sven_Q45: And what about Discworld Noir? The books I mean.
  321. (08:09:05) Cheeseness: I don't think there's a book that matches Noir is there?
  322. (08:09:10) kruks [Mibbit@1AB4B0B2.5E1E3010.EC3FC6CC.IP] entered the room.
  323. (08:09:19) Cheeseness: Hi kruks
  324. (08:09:26) JelDeRebel: hmm kruks
  325. (08:09:35) JelDeRebel: is that some kind of breakfast cereal?
  326. (08:09:35) Sven_Q45: But it´s from Terry,.
  327. (08:09:48) Syd: Discworld Noir is an original story
  328. (08:09:56) Cheeseness: Yeah
  329. (08:10:25) kruks left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  330. (08:10:26) Sven_Q45: I dunno.
  331. (08:10:33) JelDeRebel: byebye cereal
  332. (08:10:39) Cheeseness: The town guards a pretty prominent across many of the books
  333. (08:10:41) Syd: Blatant reference time
  334. (08:10:47) Cheeseness: They've got a lot of presence in Discworld Noir
  335. (08:11:23) Cheeseness: Wow
  336. (08:11:59) Cheeseness: Heh
  337. (08:12:11) Babar [Miranda@42AF3856.C296887C.7141F18D.IP] entered the room.
  338. (08:12:19) JelDeRebel: XD
  339. (08:12:24) Cheeseness: Gosh, they're going to play this all out aren't they?
  340. (08:12:46) Syd: When I said blatant I menat it
  341. (08:12:47) Syd: *meant
  342. (08:13:02) Cheeseness: My word
  343. (08:13:24) beansmyname: That luggage is so spacious. so...spacious.
  344. (08:13:25) Cheeseness: Sydney the piece of string
  345. (08:13:33) Sven_Q45: A wee wee wee pause.
  346. (08:14:12) JelDeRebel: ...
  347. (08:14:18) beansmyname: *groan*
  348. (08:14:32) JelDeRebel: next thing they start singing
  349. (08:14:36) Cheeseness: These guys are going to sing nw, right?
  350. (08:14:55) Syd: They actually don't, but they do get used for the jingle requirement
  351. (08:15:01) Cheeseness: lol
  352. (08:15:44) Cheeseness: Those are some interesting hips
  353. (08:15:50) Cheeseness: Or pelvises

  356. (08:16:22) Cheeseness: I like how they're wearing clothes in his inventory
  357. (08:16:55) beansmyname: He had it in his hands!
  358. (08:16:57) JelDeRebel: that fat vulture looks like a seagull from disney or so
  359. (08:17:10) Cheeseness: I feel like Idle's Rincewind is a little smarter than the Rincewind in the books
  360. (08:17:31) JelDeRebel: thats a boatload of pyramids in the background
  361. (08:17:34) Syd: This Rincewind is perhaps a little less cowardly too
  362. (08:18:02) Cheeseness: Yeah
  363. (08:18:24) Sven_Q45: JelDeRebel In Discworld is nothing impossible. :D
  364. (08:19:16) Cheeseness: Here's a list of the Discworld novels for anybody who's interestedhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discworld#Novels
  365. (08:19:23) Cheeseness: I think I've read up to Small Gods
  366. (08:19:39) JelDeRebel: how long is each novel?
  367. (08:19:50) Cheeseness: Hundred pages? Two hundred?
  368. (08:19:55) Cheeseness: They're not particularly long
  369. (08:20:18) Sven_Q45: not?
  370. (08:20:35) Cheeseness: Not compared to say an 800 page book \o/
  371. (08:20:47) JelDeRebel: depends on the writing style too
  372. (08:20:55) Sven_Q45: yes jel
  373. (08:20:57) JelDeRebel: a song of ice and fire books take me ages
  374. (08:21:08) JelDeRebel: a harry potter book i can finsih in a day
  375. (08:21:28) JelDeRebel: I once tried reading lord of the rings in english
  376. (08:21:33) JelDeRebel: switched back to dutch after 200 pages
  377. (08:23:00) beansmyname: Discworld should be closer to Harry Potter than Song of Ice and Fire or Lord of the Rings.
  378. (08:23:02) Cheeseness: Tolkein told some cool stories, but I think his writing style is overrated
  379. (08:23:24) Cheeseness: Although that's not saying anything bad about Discworld^
  380. (08:23:25) beansmyname: Lots of humour, good pacing and clever wordplay throughout in the Discworld novels I've read.
  381. (08:25:00) Cheeseness: Is that fellow meant to be Australia? o.0
  382. (08:25:18) Cheeseness: Australian^

  385. (08:26:15) JelDeRebel: does he look like you?
  386. (08:26:41) Cheeseness: No
  387. (08:26:46) beansmyname: Sure sounds Australian to me. He said billabong.
  388. (08:26:56) beansmyname: Did I miss him saying Bonza?
  389. (08:26:59) Cheeseness: You did
  390. (08:28:15) Cheeseness: The perspective in this scene never gets old
  391. (08:29:05) Cheeseness: Yay, some ants
  392. (08:30:03) Cheeseness: That's quite a bent stick
  393. (08:31:09) Sven_Q45: bent stick? Boomerang.
  394. (08:31:31) Cheeseness: Also called a "bent stick" :b
  395. (08:31:50) Cheeseness: For a Discworld troll, that guy was pretty eloquent
  396. (08:32:35) Sven_Q45: @Cheese I heard the first time of a bent stick but I´d know.
  397. (08:33:59) Cheeseness: Wow, this puzzle must've been fun to figure out
  398. (08:35:59) JelDeRebel: back

  406. (08:37:05) JelDeRebel: havent use shampoo in half a year or so
  407. (08:37:16) JelDeRebel: doing the whole no poo method thing
  408. (08:37:23) JelDeRebel: better for your hair
  409. (08:37:49) JelDeRebel: where is everyone?
  410. (08:37:58) Syd: I'm here, playing the game.
  411. (08:38:04) Sven_Q45: Think about what you said. ;)
  412. (08:38:10) JelDeRebel: no shit sherlock
  413. (08:38:16) Cheeseness: Out of cheese error :D

  418. (08:39:55) JelDeRebel: you don't want to know how I talk to my boss
  419. (08:40:24) Sven_Q45: Or to my colleagues
  420. (08:40:25) Cheeseness: Nope, I don't :D
  421. (08:41:10) Cheeseness: I see so many opportunities for fun inventory item combinations
  422. (08:41:36) JelDeRebel: is that a naked girl in there?
  423. (08:41:42) beansmyname: Not naked, just gorgeous.
  424. (08:41:43) Cheeseness: She's not naked
  425. (08:41:46) beansmyname: And she's a "babe"
  426. (08:41:51) Sven_Q45: no but nice tho.
  427. (08:42:00) Cheeseness: That's the "marylin munroe" type character from earlier
  428. (08:42:14) Cheeseness: We got to put her in our inventory when she agreed to be in the film
  429. (08:42:20) JelDeRebel: wait what she doing in that box

  433. (08:43:36) Cheeseness: Luggage is love. Luggage is life.
  434. (08:44:21) Syd: Luggage is very tenacious
  435. (08:44:49) Syd: If Luggage wants to follow someone, nothing will stop it.
  436. (08:44:57) Cheeseness: Very true
  437. (08:45:12) Sven_Q45: Where did he put the ladder?
  438. (08:45:15) Sven_Q45: +
  439. (08:45:27) beansmyname: He put the ladder where the icicles come from.
  440. (08:45:50) Sven_Q45: hehe
  441. (08:46:10) Sven_Q45: His "icicle"? :D
  442. (08:46:26) Syd: My bad there, accidentally repeated dialogue
  443. (08:46:28) JelDeRebel: if that witch was really dead, you'd think that casanundra whatshisname is a necrophiliac?
  444. (08:46:29) Cheeseness: There was an icicle on the thermometer before
  445. (08:46:42) Cheeseness: She wasn't dead, she was mind projecting
  446. (08:47:02) Syd: Casanundra was introduced in the first session. He wanted a "challenge" that was close to the ground in exchange for a ladder and Rincewind recommended Weatherwax.
  447. (08:48:40) Sven_Q45: Animal!!
  448. (08:49:09) Syd: Took me a bit to remember what I'm doing
  449. (08:49:19) JelDeRebel: soo when does this stream end?

  453. (08:49:57) Syd: Trying to finish this act
  454. (08:50:00) Syd: Not a lot left to do
  455. (08:50:37) Syd: I'll click on the ILM sign next time I need to pass by it
  456. (08:50:49) JelDeRebel: have you guys ever played Mayan Death Robots?
  457. (08:51:26) Sven_Q45: no
  458. (08:51:34) JelDeRebel: http://www.mayandeathrobots.com/
  459. (08:52:03) Cheeseness: The Librarian is great
  460. (08:52:12) Cheeseness: And now we have him in the luggage
  461. (08:53:05) Cheeseness: This scene has some stones
  462. (08:53:16) Sven_Q45: The Librarian and the babe. Uh oh. O_O
  463. (08:53:30) Cheeseness: I was going to say, we could put her in the pantomime horsey costume too
  464. (08:54:06) Syd: Forgot a small detail about the costume
  465. (08:54:14) Syd: But I'll get that fixed right up
  466. (08:54:46) JelDeRebel: soo erm whats the goal of this game?
  467. (08:54:50) JelDeRebel: or story or whatever
  468. (08:54:54) Cheeseness: To get Death to resume his position
  469. (08:55:04) Syd: Death has gone on an indefinite vacation and we need to get him back on the job
  470. (08:55:07) Cheeseness: He went on holiday and now things aren't dying
  471. (08:55:08) beansmyname: To match object A to slot A, object B to slot B.
  472. (08:55:19) Sven_Q45: that is the point where Rincewind uses the f-word.
  473. (08:55:23) Cheeseness: He said he'd come back if we made him popular, so we're trying to get a film starring him to happen
  474. (08:55:58) beansmyname: More self-awareness from the Idle Rincewind.
  475. (08:56:14) Cheeseness: Fearsome
  476. (08:57:24) beansmyname: Like those split ends.
  477. (08:57:30) beansmyname: Those could be cut off first.
  478. (08:57:37) Cheeseness: Yeah

  505. (09:07:17) Syd: Haha
  506. (09:07:35) JelDeRebel [Mibbit@hide-7B2EA1C8.access.telenet.be] entered the room.
  507. (09:07:38) Cheeseness: Are some of the backgrounds re-used from the first game?
