i think the basics of what i mentally jotted down for au ku was like

this is basically an au where most of the stupid bullshit of kl Never Happened so it’s just a wacky psychic adventure based more in our interpretation of the mother setting than the actual canon setting (helped by devin wanting to pass it off as more of an original work)

so au!ku would like… she was kind of a doormat when growing up, but had her limits and wasn’t afraid to get snippy or even really confrontational if pushed hard enough. it just took her a while for her to finally shake that off completely and try to have more agency in her decisions
she has a really bad temper she tries to stow away and spends a lot of time trying not to escalate in arguments, which is where her doormat tendencies came from; by the time round3 starts, she’s a lot more vocal and can be kind of stern towards niklas because she knows he’s kind of an unrestrained jackoff, but she DOES like him and is glad joseph has a close friend in him. she just wishes said close friend wasn’t a wanted criminal. |D

tbh she’s been a lot more confrontational lately (see: past few years) because she’s worrying over joseph so much now that he’s getting older and is still really sore about how au!tank straight up ditched her. probably calms down most around ninten/ken bc BFFS
like uh. the deal is that callie and ken were BFFs for like forever and at one time had a fling and also a kid (dominic, who is one of the few to survive the namechanges untouched) before breaking up because they realized they weren’t really what each other was looking for, so ken got together with his cute wife and callie met au!tank and all was dandy
except once callie got pregnant, probably on accident, and was willing to carry to term, au!tank just outright bounced out of her life because he wasn’t ready for the responsibility of being a dad and also because of the rumors that it was ken’s kid again. welp
so i’d imagine ken was there a lot to help her get back on her feet, although they both knew they weren’t gonna start something up again, and that’s probably how niklas and jo met originally

as a side note, dominic got adopted like in main canon but is actually on good terms with his biological parents (callie probably writes him letters now and then) but because of the rumors and the idea that au!tank left because of him joseph fucking hates his guts and nic is terrified of him because of it
even though dominic is like… six years older than him?
which is gonna lead to FUN THINGS when Niklas’s Wild Ride takes them to amurrka and they inevitably bump into him

wow i got really sidetracked. anyway. when it comes to psychic ability, ken’s family is the only one that has like Actual Good Powers but a couple others (Gage was mentioned i think) developed PSI on their own. callie probably continues the Shinmane family tradition of her powers being complete ass; they only decide to start working at all when she’s under severe physical and mental stress, and as such she tends not to rely on them. au!joseph probably didn’t inherit them whatsoever or they’re so weak in him that it’s a possibility but not likely for him to ever be able to use them.
as seems to be the case with pretty much all of her AUs callie got mauled as a kid but it didn’t go as tits-up as it did in main canon because she managed to psi the hell out of whatever pissed-off wild animal was attacking her, which is how she discovered her powers in the first place. surprisingly enough she survived with all of her limbs intact but probably still has some gross scars because it’s just not kurousu without terrible injuries. has a phobia of large animals and probably has a heart-attack whenever she visits ken because iirc niklas has like five huge-ass dogs and had to turn down jo when he wanted one himself (they compromised and got a cat)

also devin mentioned that she’s probably going to hit one of the highest-ranking limoli in the head with a dildo. again.
