  1. [Overview]
  2. #######
  3. Venusaur has many things going for it in Doubles. Chlorophyll, natural bulk, and a great typing combination in Grass- and Poison-type that gives it great offensive typing and 5 resists to common attacking types, as well as an immunity to Powder moves. All of this adds up to one of the more prominent Sun abuses in the tier. Venusaur also has access to Sleep Powder, which at first glace doesn't look at appealing as it should. Doubles is a tier that has no Sleep Clause, meaning that it can put as many things to sleep as it wants to. Be wary tho as Sleep Powder's accuracy is something to be desired. It should also be mentioned that with access to a Mega, Venusaur can be used in more than one way. Mega Venusaur is a very bulky Pokemon that isn't used much, but definitely shouldn't be overlooked when team building. Finally, in Doubles there is many Fire-type Pokemon that directly threaten Venusaur, but don't let the stop you from using it.

  17. Moves
  18. =======
  19. Sludge bomb is going to be the main STAB on the set. Giving Venusaur a way to hit Poison-types and anything that resists it's Grass-type STAB. Giga Drain gives it a way to heal off damage its taken while simultaneously doing plenty of damage to the opponent. Sleep Powder may seem like an odd decision to some, but the lack of Sleep Clause in Doubles makes it a very appealing move for Venusaur to have. Protect may seem redundant when you only have limited turns for Sun, but it's always a very good move choice on an offensive Pokemon.

  21. Set Details
  22. =======
  23. The given EV spread makes it so Venusaur is the fastest Pokemon in the tier when Sun is up, allowing it to even be faster than the most common Choice Scarf users. 144 speed also allows Venusaur to outrun certain Pokemon without Sun, such as Heatran. Modest paired with max Special Attack is so Venusaur can hit as hard as it possibly can, even utilizing Life Orb to further boost its damage output. Finally the rest of the EVs go into HP, giving it some longevity in the battle.

  25. Usage Tips
  26. =======
  27. You should always be using Venusaur while Sun is up if it's possible. Its main STAB attacks are going to be putting a lot of pressure on the opponent and even more so while Sun is active. Sleep Powder can also be used at any moment during the game to put the opponent to sleep as many times as you want. Another thing Venusaur is really good at is bullying opposing Grass-type Pokemon. Breloom and Amoonguss will be looking for free Spore's, but Venusaur can switch in as many times as it wants and take no damage, but directly threaten them back. It's best to use Venusaur in the early game, letting it wear down the opposing team or even put them to Sleep, so it makes it easier for a Pokemon to clean up in the late game.

  29. Team Options
  30. =======
  31. The best partner for Venusaur to be paired wiit is Mega Charizard-y. Charizard will be able to do two things that this set really needs to have happen for it to succeed. The first being set up sun, and the second is removing Steel-type Pokemon that Venusaur can't otherwise touch. Fire-type Pokemon in general make for good partners, as Venusaur will struggle against Steel-types. Pokemon with access to Powerful Ground-type STAB that can remove Heatran are also a good idea. Heatran hard walls Charizard-y and Venusaur. Finally, Dragon-types resists all 4 STABs between Charizard-y and Venusaur, so something to take care of them is needed. Mamsowine deserves a special mention here as it fills both the 2 previous roles listed in one Pokemon.
