He stopped and turned as soon as they were somewhere barren and vacant, surrounded by unfilled craters and piles of dirt. The dark sage rose his right hand; a deformed, chitinous insectoid appendage, mutant and interrupted only by streaks of eerily pale white skin.

He spoke, as he conjured a swirling mass of violet fire about the arm. It crackled, dripped with black tar that ceased falling in mid-air by the force of some unnatural power, and exuded dark embers. "But fortunately, you also possess Occultism; a means of restricting and binding this chaotic magic." He further detailed, shifting luminous lavender eyes between Aria and the dark distortion of pyromancy he had conjured.

  335. A black aura formed around the arm, drawing in the embers, the droplets of tar, everything - and shrinking gradually to tightly contain even the flames themselves. The mass compressed until the man held nothing but an extremely hot sphere outlined in glowing purple, which floated slowly upward. "Now it is contained. Forcibly through dark magic, you can eliminate the waste of rampant Shadowflame." He showed, using a common dark barrier to concentrate it.

Aria followed after Kudlak with excited, energetic footsteps, practically bursting with energy. The first time she'd learned Shadowflame had been essentially taught by herself by quite literally slamming her fire magic and her dark magic together.

  358. She listened intently to Kudlak as he began to explain, her eyes sparkling with awe as he casually summoned an almost disturbing looking flame that reminded Aria of her own flames. He explained further, and the flames turned a good bit less drippy, and a lot more... well, beautiful. And spherical. So that was what she'd been doing wrong, Aria realized. She hadn't used the occult magic to control the dark flames; she'd been focusing much more on the fire aspect.

He said as he looked at his creation; dipping his eyelids downward, he allowed a moment of darker passion to flow through him... utter Depravity, a sense of powerful Occult essence as his very surroundings dimmed in a completely unintentional effect of his twisted magic. The dark ball grew; it looked much like an eclipse, especially so as Kudlak sent it floating high into the air.

  393. Then, at the snap of his mutated fingers, it detonated.

  395. The thing swelled outward, shifting from black to purple, before howling absolutely gloriously in a beautiful explosion of streaking purple. The ball distended, shapeshifting inticately to form an image of a mermaid and an upper body with a... disturbing likeness to a certain Katherine Hastings. He'd been acting without much restraint, but what he hoped to demonstrate was that by changing where the parts of the dark barrier were thinned or dissipated first, the shape of the explosion could also change.

He then realized with some embarassment he had created 'fireworks' of his crush for all of Alteros to see, and scratched his head with some embarrassment before looking upon Aria and clearing his throat. "Ahem." He began, prepared to state what he'd done. "By removing the dark barrier only in certain spots, or gradually thinning it, you can change the shape of the explosion." He detailed, explaining. "This is useful for not harming allies as well as extending a blast's reach significantly." He further detailed.

Dark magic and the corruption it generated was a mild source of fear for the young Hirano, but it didn't make her any less focused. This was going to be her magic eventually, if she could learn it well enough. She couldn't be afraid of it.

  437. The ball of dark magic rose further into the air, and Aria watched it, rather than Kudlak. She was curious as to what the energy ball was going to do, but she watched it intently. It began to swell and shift, distorting for a moment... and then it exploded! Aria's eyes widened in wonder and then excitement as she watched the firey, purple explosion, though she was taken out of her idol-worshipping awe for just a moment as the explosion appeared to resemble... Gramma? Well. That was weird.

  439. However weird it might have been, his demonstration had gotten across to her. There was a lot she could do with the Shadowflame that she hadn't even thought of before- including making sort of weird depictions of her Grandmother in the sky! She nodded. "That's so cool!" she cheered, her excitement barely restrained. "I didn't know you could have so much control over it..." her tone was pure awe as she spoke. Her Shadowflame had felt completely uncontrolled and chaotic, nothing like this. This was truly a master at work.

"If you can master conjuring a barrier from Occult essence, you can master control over shadowflame blasts." He explained as the mass began to shift and wobble.

The dark magic of this man was... unusually potent, to say the least. "While creating an image and just changing the direction of the blast are entirely different things, even as a beginner - if that's what you are - you can easily achieve the latter just by applying what you know of Occultism. As for the former... that takes time, and control to master." He further detailed. He rather liked this lesson so far; it had been fast paced and informative.

  465. He dismissed the barrier and slid his hand beneath his cloak. Exhaling, he opened his eyelids a bit further, lingering dark drives clinging about his form. "I hope you'll master this art. The secrets of humanity lie within the Darkness of Occultism; Shadowflame is but one beautiful manifestation of it, and I will also teach you Hellstorm one day if you wish it." He said, looking toward Sishio to see if the man would approve.

Even if she'd just sort of fallen headfirst into this, it was absolutely a better alternative than learning by herself. Kudlak felt incredibly strong.

There was nothing wrong with being new, but Aria's pride made it difficult for her to admit she hadn't become a master at Shadowflame overnight. Changing the direction didn't sound too hard, but shaping it? A little more difficult.

"I hope so too," she said, and Aria really meant it. She did want to master Shadowflame like she wanted nothing else. The secrets of humanity in the darkness, though? That was intriguing. "I wouldn't mind learning Hellstorm too," she said, with almost an embarrassed look. He was offering her so much, she sort of felt like she didn't deserve it.

One she mastered Shadowflame, she was going to have to look at the other elements and forms of magic to find something new.

Malrek swore it saw another of its kind... blobs were hard to miss really, but the creature could just be yearning for more of its brethren to be near aside from its "counter."

  804. Once it looks up to see identical figures, it just moves off in the strange fashion it had of sliding about. Of course, the mimic was ready to hit into anything, seeing as the eyes were positioned strangely on its blob form.

  806. The creature moved 'upwards' it seemed, before nearly colliding with a foot. Apparently it had moved in a circle, only to very nearly hit into its Counter once again. It moved away again, shaking in fear of the fact it may not actually know where it was going. But, now it was between the duplicates.

  808. This got confusing and the creature drooped in sadness for the fact it cannot tell the difference. Everything looked too alike now. It made its eyes sink into its rubbery body, silently weeping for the lack of intelligence it has.

He expressed, before looking toward Dominic once more. He studied the man for a bit, listened to his intentions.

And then almost had dreamy eyes again over mention of Katherine; the feeling was overwhelming, as if he'd 'explode' if mention of her supple, aqueous form came to mind again... after a brief moment he replied. "Rather simple, I see." He replied, fixating his lavender hues on the dark garbed male. "But, very well; read." He spoke, extending his mutated hand; the Necronomicon streaked into his grasp, the fleshy book opening it's pitch black pages to show luminous purple glyphs.

The dark knowledge and grim scenes it entailed would flood to mind - though details that might've provoked his suspicion toward the master Occultist were blotted out in black smears of thoughtlessness. Nigh-mastered prowess over Necromancy would bleed into the man's brain at the cost of straining his psyche, leaving him no doubt in intense cranial pain as the dark tome slapped shut, and was returned beneath Kudlak's cloak.

Ignatius let out a groan of pain, long and decent in volume as his arm alone did not react to this pain; but the rest of his body tensed itself up as if locking up the very muscles within his body.

  1903. As he gazed down at his fully corrupted right hand, which appeared to have its digits as sharpened like claws, and black as a night sky without a single star or moon to illuminate its horizon. With a wide grin, despite being stressed in the manner of physical form, he began to stumble away from the group, as to not wake Meiru, whom was currently passed out. He was swaying from side to side slowly, his sight blurring even. The problem was how early in his occultist knowledge he injected the vial from a good month or more ago, not to mention alongside how in physicallity, Ignatius was certainly not very durable or as strong as those more suitable trained for it. If anything, he was a tad fragile, even now.
  1904.  
  1905. Once a decent ways away from the three, much without a single word of his reason of absence, he fall down onto his knees...breathing in rather gruffly. Each breathe was slow, hefty; as if attempting to steady his heart-rate back to a normal pace. Soon, he groaned louder, pathetically even as he fall down onto his side in the swampy grasses. The young male attempted to forcibly move his left hand to his right cuffing, despite how his entire body simply ached even do such a simple task. As it was rolled up...the corruption on his hand made it to his forearm, appearing to have utterly consumed the entirety of flesh much like on his hand with this black carapace like substance. It was rough, hard...and cold to even touch. For now, he continued to breathe heavily as he let the corruption continue to consume this part of the arm now...unable to speak as his focus had to stay on this manner before him. With each risk, he knew there was a prize...and he was determined to see this risk to the end and obtain that prize as a glorious Occultist.
  1906.  
  1907. Ignatius soon enough did pass out atop the grass for a spell...his eyes closed as to allow his bodies natural mannerism to ease the aching in his form. If anything, he could be described as pathetic as a whole from it all...and somehow...yet...he was able to survive. Perhaps whatever lied inside his essence kept him going, for all anyone knew; even him. Thus ended the second phase of his mutation, from the corruption of the hand, to the claws and corruption of his right forearm entirely; mutating the flesh as such.
