  1. KEY
  2. A Line: A connection between 2 things. Should be accompanied with a description.
  3. A Circle: A player character.
  4. A Square: A minor character.
  5. A Triangle: A situation. Some kind of event or potential event that is important to the character(s) in some way, whether it’s a past event that shapes them, something currently ongoing, or a possible future problem.
  6. A Diamond: An asset. Something in the world connected to the character. Could be more that just ‘an object’ it could also be an organisation they are a part of, or a place important to them (NB: This means a specific place they own or is significant to them. It’s more specific than like, ‘your homeland’)

  8. Consider this process like drafting in Dota. This is how the map is constructed.
  9. When we start, you will get 2 minutes to think about what connections you might have.
  10. We will then take in turns, ordered by d20 roll in the roll20 room.
  11. Each ‘round’ will be type of phase, which determines what you can do with the map.
  12. Standard: Add one new element: You can add a character, asset, or situation and draw a line from it to your character, or draw a line from your character to an existing element.
  13. Major: Represents a major turning point in the characters’ lives. During a major phase each player adds two new Elements instead of one.
  14. Meta: This is your chance to mess with anything that already exists on the map. In addition to adding one new element like in a standard phase, each player gets to do one of the following:
  15. Draw a line between any two non-PC Elements and define a relationship between them.
  16. Destroy a line between their PC (i.e. your own) and a given Element and add a new element and relationship. This implies that something happened to sever one relationship and foster another.
  17. Introduce an element/relationship to another player character. The other player gets to define the nature of their characters’ relationship with that element however.
  18. Each round has a theme to it. You don’t /have/ to follow it, its more of an idea to help you if you get stuck. There will be 5 rounds in total.
  19. Extra: You cannot use the same shape twice in a row.
