“YES!” Chase exclaimed in his room, and losing his restraint he throw his hands in the air as he claimed victory for his team – in a team trivia game on Pokemon Showdown, that is. It had been nail-bitingly close, with both teams at 9-9 at one point before Chase – or rather, Latios n.n, secured the win for his team.

A target of the opposite gender gets infatuated. – “.g attract”

In came the usual ‘nO’s and ‘gg’s but of all of the responses Chase could only find and focus on one person’s – eeveeattract’s – who simply said:

“bYE”

Chase couldn’t help but chuckle, and his fingers raced around the keyboard to type:

“julia pls”
“it’s in your name too, how could I have beaten you to it”
“smh”

“latinub pls,” she replied, and the room being the cesspool of dank memers it is, followed suit with “latinub pls”s too.

Chase’s eyes wandered over to the clock in the bottom of his screen, scowling as it read “12:00”. It was bedtime, and as much as he really would just like to stay there for the rest of his life, he had school in the morning.

He sighed, as he drearily typed in, “k I gotta go”

Amongst the responses he got back, he felt like his heart grew heavier as he couldn’t find eeveeattract’s – but as he caught of a glimpse of an orange window in the side of the screen, his face illuminated with glee as he saw that he had a private message.

“hey chase, good game :]”

“good game, babe~,” he replied, and once he hit the Enter key he could feel the heat rushing to his face. He wanted to keep it private from the rest of the room (especially since the other ‘nubly’ users like Caterpiellar would never let him hear the end of it), but he had a… substantial infatuation with eevee. It started as a rivalry when they first met, since they were known to be the two fastest typers in the room, but later on, as they talked about normal things, the personality behind eevee was very… compelling, attractive even, if you could excuse the pun. All he knew about her was that she was a girl – roughly his age too – and while it was entirely possible that she could be lying and was actually some fat no-life behind the alias… he couldn’t help but feel like she was a real girl who was nice and kind and smart and good at the games in the room and amazing…

He didn’t even know her name, but the one thing that he knew was that she was the best, and that sufficed for him to pursue it. His reaction when she had reciprocated, for whatever reason or another, was palpably saturated with excitement and jubilation, to say the least.

“lol lati pls, don’t you have to go to sleep?”

“why do I have to? I could be staying here talking all night with you…”

“we can always talk again tomorrow n.n we have all night and besides, you may see me in your dreams~”

“I don’t even know what you look like u.u”
“You won’t even tell me your name ;;”

“;; ik, I mean what’s your full name? I want to find you and meet you…”

“even if I told you you’d probably not be able to find me :p”

“good night, julia,” he typed, and with that, he hesitantly reached for the top of his laptop, and closed it shut. He groaned, shaking his head as the dreadful thoughts of going to school and being slave-driven by the public educational system entered his mind. What was the point of going to school, anyways? Why not just stay here, playing games, talking to people, talking to Julia…

Chase crawled beneath the sheets of his bed, closing his eyes as he drifted into slumber, conflicted between the misery-filled thoughts of his monotonous reality, and the joy from being within the game corner chat, and being with eeveeattract…
