  4. [2011-04-18 22::16:12] Doink: It comes rather unexpectedly. An emergency call to your cell phone, late at night.
  5. [2011-04-18 22::17:26] Doink: It's not the usual sort of alert, though—for one, it seems you are the only one who got it. It's not an alert code you've ever seen before. You are to report to the Ward Hall elevator—alone.
  6. [2011-04-18 22::17:27] Mia_al-Misiri: flops over in her bed and pulls the phone from beneath her pillow. She looks at who's calling through half-open eyes.
  7. [2011-04-18 22::19:43] Doink: In fact, it's quite specific about that—you are to proceed immediately, without informing your direct superior or other pilots. The alert designation is "Code White".
  8. [2011-04-18 22::20:00] Mia_al-Misiri: talks to herself quietly as she puts on some pink slippers and shuffles out of the room, bringing a flashlight with her. Her hair is a complete mess without someone paying attention to it and she's wearing dinosaur-themed pyjamas. She makes her way to the elevator, rubbing her eyes.
  9. [2011-04-18 22::22:43] Doink: The common room wall slides open silently, as usual, to reveal the elevator. Inside is a short, balding man in a white Science uniform. He quickly motions you to enter.
  10. [2011-04-18 22::23:28] Mia_al-Misiri: stops as she sees him, then comes in when pestered. She looks up at him while she steps inside the doors.
  11. [2011-04-18 22::23:32] Mia_al-Misiri: "...Who are you?"
  12. [2011-04-18 22::25:59] Doink: The doors slide shut behind you and the elevator begins its descent.
  13. [2011-04-18 22::26:18] Mia_al-Misiri: goes quiet after this.
  14. [2011-04-18 22::26:32] Doink: He clears his throat. "My name is Dr. Dyer. I'm one of your father's lead researchers."
  15. [2011-04-18 22::27:48] Doink: Dyer seems very agitated, although he's trying very hard to hide it. "I... don't know the best way to explain this, but, well, we're having a bit of a... situation at the moment."
  16. [2011-04-18 22::28:07] Mia_al-Misiri: stops shining the flashlight at him.
  17. [2011-04-18 22::28:11] Mia_al-Misiri: "What's wrong?"
  18. [2011-04-18 22::28:24] Mia_al-Misiri: is kind of sympathetic in tone, rather than worried.
  19. [2011-04-18 22::29:38] Doink: "Well, you see, your Dad left Arkham with the Commander earlier today. I don't know why because he doesn't tell us these things. And, well, right after he left everything decided to fall apart and we can't get in contact with him."
  20. [2011-04-18 22::30:03] Mia_al-Misiri: "Yeah he goes places a lot!"
  21. [2011-04-18 22::31:15] Doink: The more Dyer talks, the faster the words seem to tumble out of him. "Now we've got a major encroachment incident going on inside of the geofront and no idea how to handle it. We're supposed to go to the subcommander but he'd just declare a lockdown and irradiate the entire sector which would destroy ALL the work we've been doing on the core."
  22. [2011-04-18 22::31:41] Doink: "So... well, we thought maybe you could help us, Mia."
  23. [2011-04-18 22::31:50] Doink: He gives you a pleading look.
  24. [2011-04-18 22::32:07] Mia_al-Misiri: hesitates for a few seconds.
  25. [2011-04-18 22::32:11] Mia_al-Misiri: "..."
  26. [2011-04-18 22::32:20] Mia_al-Misiri: "...Okay! What do you want me to do?"
  27. [2011-04-18 22::32:28] Mia_al-Misiri: wakes up a bit.
  28. [2011-04-18 22::34:42] Doink: "Well... it sort of... asked to talk to you." You can hear the tired desperation in his voice. "It seems to be all it wants, so we thought maybe if we brought you down there it would quiet down until we could get to your dad..."
  29. [2011-04-18 22::35:07] Mia_al-Misiri: "The sleeping man that we caught?"
  30. [2011-04-18 22::35:14] Mia_al-Misiri: "The one I put in the box thing?"
  31. [2011-04-18 22::35:48] Doink: He nods. "Yes, that one."
  32. [2011-04-18 22::36:20] Doink: The elevator finally slows to a stop. It appears to have gone much deeper than you're used to, as the panel which usually shows the level you've arrived at is blank.
  33. [2011-04-18 22::36:21] Mia_al-Misiri: "Cool!"
  34. [2011-04-18 22::37:00] Doink: The doors open to a cold, grey hallway. You can almost see your breath already.
  35. [2011-04-18 22::37:15] Doink: Dr. Dyer: "Er, yes. If, um, you could follow me, please."
  36. [2011-04-18 22::37:27] Doink: He sets off down the hallway.
  37. [2011-04-18 22::37:51] Mia_al-Misiri: crosses her arms across her body, and follows him with a shuffle.
  38. [2011-04-18 22::39:02] Doink: It's a strange journey. He leads you down a series of maze-like identical corridors, studded with doors at different intervals. Occasionally, there will be a window, which looks out over empty black expanses like you've seen so many of before down here.
  39. [2011-04-18 22::39:28] Doink: Finally, he takes you before a slightly different door. This one is huge and imposing, at least four times your height and made of solid plate steel.
  40. [2011-04-18 22::40:01] Doink: He starts to dial a code into the panel beside it. "Right through here. We'll be watching you to make sure nothing happens, alright? Just shout, and we'll... do what we can."
  41. [2011-04-18 22::40:26] Mia_al-Misiri: "Okay... can I have your coat please?"
  42. [2011-04-18 22::40:47] Mia_al-Misiri: looks up at him again, chilled. She clicks the flashligh on up at him after a second.
  43. [2011-04-18 22::40:54] Doink: There's a series of loud *clanks* and the door swings open ponderously.
  44. [2011-04-18 22::41:09] Doink: "Umm.. sure." He quickly removes his jacket and hands it to you.
  45. [2011-04-18 22::41:16] Doink: Then practically runs down the hallway in the other direction.
  46. [2011-04-18 22::42:20] Mia_al-Misiri: puts it over her shoulders and does up the top few buttons, fumbling quite a lot on each, then walks into the room, wearing it like a big cloak, not putting her arms through the holes.
  47. [2011-04-18 22::42:26] Mia_al-Misiri: "Mr Cthulhu?"
  48. [2011-04-18 22::44:59] Mia_al-Misiri: is a bit worried, but more cold than worried.
  49. [2011-04-18 22::45:25] Doink: Inside is a large, square, vault-like room. The walls are made of the same seamless, solid metal as the door, and they and the ceiling are slick and shiny with frost.
  50. [2011-04-18 22::45:53] Mia_al-Misiri: "Hellooo?"
  51. [2011-04-18 22::46:18] Mia_al-Misiri: wanders towards the middle. She sounds more cheery and inquisitive than worried.
  52. [2011-04-18 22::47:11] Doink: In its center is a pedestal, and on that pedestal rests the core. It is encased in some kind of... something. It's not solid, but it refracts its light in strange ways—it reminds you of an AT field. Around it is a huge mass of complex looking machinery, and around that, a tight, complex circle of runes and sigils encircling everything.
  53. [2011-04-18 22::47:39] Doink: Suddenly, you see movement. From beside the pedestal, a figure gets shakily to its feet.
  54. [2011-04-18 22::48:22] Mia_al-Misiri: stops. She's put her sleeves over her hands and holds them together in the middle. She turns to the figure and smiles.
  55. [2011-04-18 22::48:24] Mia_al-Misiri: "Hi!"
  56. [2011-04-18 22::49:32] Doink: He moves unnaturally, jerking, the muscles under his skin twitching in bizzare patterns as he stands. It takes him a moment to pull himself up to where he can 'see' you.
  57. [2011-04-18 22::49:59] Doink: His eyes are rolled back in his head, and frozen streams of blood are caked to the sides of his face.
  58. [2011-04-18 22::50:42] Mia_al-Misiri: shakes her head a bit to get some hair out of her eye but it's replaced with more. She tries to blow it out of the way.
  59. [2011-04-18 22::50:57] Mia_al-Misiri: "...Pbhhhhhhh. Pbhhhhhhhhhhh."
  60. [2011-04-18 22::51:13] Mia_al-Misiri: gives up after a bit. It's clearer than before.
  61. [2011-04-18 22::51:21] Mia_al-Misiri: "What happened to your head?"
  62. [2011-04-18 22::51:48] Doink: His science uniform is tattered, the white cloth stained with more blood, more than could have come from his body. Suddenly, he jerks forward, landing on the ground with a wet thump before struggling again towards his feet.
  63. [2011-04-18 22::52:11] Doink: It takes a moment before it becomes apparent that he's trying to kneel.
  64. [2011-04-18 22::52:31] Mia_al-Misiri: walks over, and holds out a covered hand to him.
  65. [2011-04-18 22::52:35] Mia_al-Misiri: "Are you okay?"
  66. [2011-04-18 22::53:36] Doink: "Q-Q-Question," the figure stammers, the words slurred and uncertain. It doesn't look at you, staring down at the ground towards your feet.
  67. [2011-04-18 22::54:05] Mia_al-Misiri: looks at her feet too.
  68. [2011-04-18 22::54:29] Mia_al-Misiri: "What?"
  69. [2011-04-18 22::57:40] Doink: "Does not uuunderstand. Priest has failed you. Why?"

  71. [2011-04-18 22::59:47] Mia_al-Misiri: scratches her head.
  72. [2011-04-18 22::59:57] Mia_al-Misiri: "Oh! You're Cthulhu!"
  73. [2011-04-18 23::02:49] Doink: "Apologizze. Humannnn... interpret mmmmmind. Therre are... nnnnnot enough right wwwords."
  74. [2011-04-18 23::03:50] Mia_al-Misiri: sits down in front of him, pulling the coat under herself as she crosses her legs to sit on it.
  75. [2011-04-18 23::03:55] Mia_al-Misiri: "What's wrong?"
  76. [2011-04-18 23::04:31] Doink: "Forgive. Priest nnnnot know wwwhat you call. Different b-b-but from ouuuutside."
  77. [2011-04-18 23::04:58] Doink: The figure doesn't move, besides its mouth.
  78. [2011-04-18 23::09:40] Mia_al-Misiri: "You're the priest I think? Do you want to stand up? It's cold on the floor."
  79. [2011-04-18 23::14:39] Doink: "Priest. Yesss. Servant. Offfff outside ones. Before... world. Only service." The jerking becomes more noticeable. "To... sllleeeper and wwatcher and c-c-chaos and... Wwwwwwho are you, " he attempts to say another word but only chokes. "N-no word. Forgive."
  80. [2011-04-18 23::16:02] Mia_al-Misiri: "I'm Mia! The man said you wanted to talk to me. Why are you doing that?"
  81. [2011-04-18 23::16:14] Mia_al-Misiri: wraps the big lab coat around her like a blanket.
  82. [2011-04-18 23::21:27] Doink: "C-c-c-confusion. Uncertainnnn... had to know. Forgive. Priest ssssserves, but now thissss part has been... lllocked away. Why? Must know wwwwill to follllow."
  83. [2011-04-18 23::23:20] Mia_al-Misiri: frowns. "So you are stuck here because we took you from the place? Can't you go around in a pretty lady like Jeanne?"
  84. [2011-04-18 23::28:11] Doink: "Thissss part is t-t-trapped. By... beassst. Parasssssite. Human." It appears he found the right word. "Thiss parrrt doessss not know howww to use Human. Human issss... cattle of ennnnnemy. Why doessss.... Mia let trap Priest? Does nnnot question wwwiilll, only wantsss.... knowledge."
  85. [2011-04-18 23::28:34] Mia_al-Misiri: shifts a little on the coat.
  86. [2011-04-18 23::28:45] Mia_al-Misiri: "...Please can we stand up it's cold on the floor."
  87. [2011-04-18 23::28:57] Mia_al-Misiri: stands up and then holds a hand to him.
  88. [2011-04-18 23::29:51] Doink: "Your wwwwwwill." The figure jerks, and, slowly, works its way to its feet. It doesn't touch you, though, and remains staring blankly at the ground.
  89. [2011-04-18 23::33:28] Mia_al-Misiri: "I, um... I don't know! Dad wanted to catch you before you woke up because then we'd have to fight you and things. If you got out what would you do?"
  90. [2011-04-18 23::33:37] Mia_al-Misiri: smiles at him again.
  91. [2011-04-18 23::37:00] Doink: "Wwworship. Make wwworld right again. Errrase enemy stain left. Earn rewarrd. Ascend."
  92. [2011-04-18 23::38:00] Mia_al-Misiri: "Could you just walk around as a normal person like Jeanne does? Also what does Azathoth actually do? You said before."
  93. [2011-04-18 23::38:10] Mia_al-Misiri: plays with her sleeves idly.
  94. [2011-04-18 23::39:35] Doink: "Forgive. Does nnnot understand alllllll human word..." He jerks a bit at the mention of Azathoth. "Sleeper. B-b-blind deaf dumb dreamerrrrr.... universe. Makes us and willll destroy us."
  95. [2011-04-18 23::41:06] Mia_al-Misiri: "Oh. Why am I your servant? Do you want to come out of here? It's too cold."
  96. [2011-04-18 23::43:39] Doink: The body spasms, as if under great pain. "No! Wrong. Wwwwrong. Priest is sssservant. Will of oooutside is only will. Obeyyys so that may ascend. Forgive. Forgive."
  97. [2011-04-18 23::44:12] Mia_al-Misiri: "Why..."
  98. [2011-04-18 23::44:15] Mia_al-Misiri: hmphs.
  99. [2011-04-18 23::44:22] Mia_al-Misiri: "I don't know what you mean."
  100. [2011-04-18 23::44:22] Doink: It attempts to bow again and falls, its head cracking against the metal floor with a loud sound. It struggles back towards its feet, blood freezing on its matted hair.
  101. [2011-04-18 23::44:40] Mia_al-Misiri: "Oh stop doing that! You don't need to bow and things!"
  102. [2011-04-18 23::44:48] Mia_al-Misiri: grabs him and helps him up.
  103. [2011-04-18 23::48:52] Doink: The body is ice-cold to the touch. It tenses, its muscles rippling oddly under your fingers, but it allows you to help.
  104. [2011-04-18 23::49:35] Mia_al-Misiri: "Do you hurt? Can you stop... being... looking funny?"
  105. [2011-04-18 23::53:01] Doink: "Forgive. Onnly way to ssspeak to huuuuman...." The figure points a shaky hand towards the weakly glowing core and its containment field. "Hollllds me in. Thisss is most I cannn do with thisss part."
  106. [2011-04-18 23::54:33] Mia_al-Misiri: "Oh okay. Sorry. I dunno what to do! I can ask dad to take it off? If I did that would you please not turn into a big monster that we have to fight?"
  107. [2011-04-18 23::58:45] Doink: "But Mmmmia can break ssssseeeaal?" It's voice sounds almost confused. "No wwwall can stop wwwwhat is outside offff wallllls."
  108. [2011-04-19 00::04:06] Mia_al-Misiri: sighs and wanders away, doing a spin on the ice.
  109. [2011-04-19 00::04:20] Mia_al-Misiri: "So like the outer mans?"
  110. [2011-04-19 00::05:17] Doink: Its head jerks in what you assume to be a nod.
  111. [2011-04-19 00::06:40] Mia_al-Misiri: stops and looks at him after a fourth spin.
  112. [2011-04-19 00::06:46] Mia_al-Misiri: "What does that mean?"
  113. [2011-04-19 00::08:56] Doink: "This.. uniiiiverssse is a dream. Sleeper dreams usss."

  121. [2011-04-19 00::15:36] Doink: It shakes its head jerkily. It's movements seem to be getting worse. "Forrrgive. Are not.... are no wwwwords. Human too sssssimple. Can nnnnot ssshhhow." He points to the barrier again.
