- Sept. 18, 2009. Eugene Anthony Knight, 46, a handyman in Vancouver was shot dead by Vancouver Police after they received a 911 call stating Knight was holding a knife to his wife’s throat. Police broke into the apartment and fired Taser darts then shot and killed the man. The man’s 13-year-old daughter was present in the small apartment when her dad was shot.
- Sept. 26, 2009: Rodney Jackson, 27, who was wanted on five warrants, was shot dead by RCMP who had hunted him down to a rural location 70 kilometres from the community of Hazelton. Jackson, police said, was shot dead during an attempt to arrest him. They said he was armed.
- Sept. 30, 2009: A 41-year-old farmer who was the father of 11 children was shot dead by RCMP’s emergency team when he attempted to break out of a police cordon in the small farming community of Buick Creek north of Fort St. John. Police said the man had earlier threatened his own family and blown out tires of a vehicle containing his wife and children. Police said they did not want the man to exit the cordoned area armed with a rifle.
