  1. Camden Ramsey
  2. As a child, I spent most of my time tinkering with computers and other electronics. Whether I was breaking, building, or repairing them, they had always been the center of my interest. Several years later, that interest has changed into more of a passion. Graduation approaches along with the end of my primary education. I plan to extend my education to the secondary level, attending a 4-year university and obtaining a degree in Computer Science. However, funding is low at home and there is an evident need for financial assistance.
  3. Though injuries have hindered my ability to play sports since freshman year, I have tried my best to stay involved in clubs and other extra-curricular activities. I am currently a member of FBLA, DECA, Spanish Club, Key Club, and the National Honor Society. I feel as though organizations such as these are vital, for they teach skills needed for future careers and the morals needed for life.
  4. Although character is sometimes inherited, it is mainly built as time progresses. I, myself, owe the past experiences and living conditions that have helped mold me into the person that I am today. Competitiveness runs through my blood, which is why I take second to none. Curiosity drives my will to learn more and more each day. My hard work ethics allow me to work five or six days out of the week, while managing to complete school all school work. I’ve always had high expectations of myself, and I make it my goal to go out and exceed those expectations each and every day.
  5. My parents have always kept me involved at the local animal shelter, and I am grateful for that. They were introduced to the idea by my former basketball coach who is currently a supervisor there. I have had the opportunity to work with hundreds of loving animals over the years. The mere fact that working with the animals there can save their lives is heartwarming, and one step closer to restoring their happiness. Aside from volunteering at the animal shelter, I also enjoy lending a hand with the Special Olympics. I began helping with their practices a few years ago at the YMCA. The participants are all on different levels and their personalities are as large as the come. I have always been willing to help others. My willingness shows that I am a charitable individual, as I try to be. I put others before myself and that has proven to be one of my best traits.
  6. It is no secret that money is scarce at home. I live with my mother, father, and oldest brother. Growing up in East Spencer, there were many obstacles and distractions that took their toll on my education — positively. Living in such conditions gave me the desire to prevail and succeed in school, hoping to one day make it out. With my mother being the only working adult, we are forced to live paycheck to paycheck. She is only a waitress and is unable to provide sufficient funds for the entire home, which is why I too, work. My father has suffered a few minor strokes and surgeries leaving him disabled. Though he still has the desire to work, his physical condition will not allow it. And lastly, my brother has recently returned home battling a drug addiction, taking more from our family than he gives.
  7. I believe I am the perfect candidate for your scholarship. I come from very humble begininnings and have fought my way through many obstacles in order to be where I am now. Your financial help will contribute to my secondary education.
