  1. #Pokémon Moon Walkthrough#
  2.
  3. ##Features##
  4. ###Festival Plaza###
  5. The first time you come here you'll be greeted by a guy named Sophocles, who tells you to talk to a guy. You'll be rewarded with 2 Friend Coins (FC). Talk to Sophocles again and he'll give you a tour of the facilities, which won't be open yet. Talk to the people who show up and choose the top answer to be rewarded with 2 FC each. Don't worry about picking the wrong one, they'll just ask you to answer again. The Plaza should reach Rank 2, so talk to Sophocles to find out what that means. You'll unlock a new facility after this, and other players you have connected to will start showing up, and will continue to from now on. Before you talk to them, I'm going to go over a few things.
  6.
  7. In addition to this, the touch screen is now available. As well as allowing you to leave this place, and allowing you to view Pokémon and items, you have the options to battle, trade, manage contacts and edit your message, as well as connect to the internet.
  8.
  9.
  10.
  11. The Castle Contains several useful NPCs and a PC. The PC is where you access the online utilities Battle Videos and Game Sync. The lady next to it offers global missions, the man at the top right let's you swap the positions of the shops, and the lady at the top left lets you page other trainers. Visit your facilities to find out what they are called. You will need this information to answer the questions the people outside ask.

  29. ##Walkthrough##
  30. ###Hau'oli Outskirts###
  31. Enter your name and choose your character's appearance. When you gain control of your character, get out of bed and head to the door in the bottom left corner to leave your room. Head towards the front door and Kukui will show up, and call your mom Mom despite also claiming to be your cousin. You can ask him about Pokémon or Kahunas, but only one. Go back to your room (press a to open the door) and get your bag and hat from the box by the bed, and optionally read the book on your desk to find out how to open the menu and save. Leave the house and head left l get railroaded towards Route 1.
  32. ###Route 1###
  33. The boy with the Rockruff will tell you how to dash with B, while the man further north will tell you how amazing science is because someone has to before you get your first Pokémon. Head a little further and Kukui will give you a tour and take you to Iki Town.
  34. ###Iki Town###
  35. Head north up the steps to see a girl who is not in any way suspicious. Follow her into the Mahalo Trail.
  36. ###Mahalo Trail###
  37. Head up along the path and you'll see a cutscene. Go to the girl and then risk your life by running across the bridge. After Supermon leaves, interrogate the girl and she'll buy your silence with the Sparkling Stone. Jokes on her, you're a silent protagonist. Head back.
  38. ###Iki Town###
  39. Kukui will finally spill it and tell you the girl's name, which is Lillie. The big Kahuna burger you ordered will finally arrive, and introduce himself as Hala. Continuing the Pulp Fiction reference, he will inform you that you just witnessed a divine intervention, and will give you a Pokémon. Your options are the following.
  40.
  41. - Rowlet - A Grass/Flying type who eventually loses the flying type to become a spooky Grass/Ghost. Decent mixed attacking stats, though it's movepool leans towards physical. Also faster than the other starters when fully evolved, but still slow compared to most Pokémon not introduced this generation. Leads a band of merry men.
  42. - Litten - A Fire type who becomes a Fire/Dark type despite looking like a Fighting type. Focuses on physical attack with a movepool that fits it. Slow as sin though. Never breaks kayfabe.
  43. - Popplio - A Water type who grows into a Water/Fairy princess, even if male. Good special stats (both better than any previous starter, in fact), and it's typing means that it gets great STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus) coverage. It can even get perfect neutral coverage with only 3 moves. Great choice for scaring friends who hate clowns.
  44.
  45. Your choice is you own. Interesting note - Popplio is the only one who displays a reaction before confirming your choice when selected.
  46.
  47. In a departure from previous games, your starter must also choose YOU! As your raise them aloft on the sacrificial altar, everyone congratulates you. Kukui will give you your dex and passport, and tell you to go see your mom. Head south and a challenger appears. This is your rival/stalker, Hau, and he's Hala's grandson. Sound familiar? Unlike the Gen 1 rival, who you probably named bitch, has the starter weak to yours. Girls are watching, so you can't back out of this one.
  48.
  49. ####Hau Round 1####
  50. #####Starter Lv.5#####
  51.
  52. Time for a primer on battling. You have for buttons you can press - Fight, Pokémon, Bag, and Run. Pokémon lets you view your team, switch Pokémon, heal them and view summaries of your Pokémon. Because we have no usable items and only 1 Pokémon, all you can do now is view summaries. Choosing a move on this summary screen will give you information on the move, but be warned choosing a move anywhere else will make you use that move. The "i" icon next to your ability will tell you what it does. Choosing Bag will let you use items, which again you cannot do yet. Run lets you run wile Pokémon, but it doesn't work in trainer battles like this one. Before we click fight, there's another option: clicking on the Pokémon. Doing this on the main screen will show you the active Pokémon's (yours or your opponent's) current stat modifications. Now let's click fight.
  53.
  54. By clicking the "i" or pressing A while L is held down, you can see what the moves do. You currently have 3 options, and your opponent also does.
  55.
  56. - Normal move. This does neutral damage to most things, making it useful in most encounters. Don't pick it now.
  57. - STAB move. STAB stands for Same Type Attack Bonus. This means that because this move has the same type as your Pokémon, it gets a 50% increase in power. Also, because Pokémon games are kind of like rock paper scissors, this move will be super effective against your opponent, doubling it's power on top of STAB. In contrast, your opponent's STAB move will have it's damage halved due to your type disadvantage. You should use this.
  58. - Stat move - Lowers one of your opponents stats. These moves have limited use. Don't use it.
  59.
  60. Something else worth mentioning - a new feature of this game is that when battling Pokémon you've previously defeated, the game will tell you your moves type match ups against them. Effective means you'll do neutral damage, by the way. Two STAB moves should win the battle and get your starter to level 6. Hala confiscates your stone, and you warp home and heal.
  61. ###Hau'oli Outskirts###
  62. Go get the door and let whoever- never mind it's Kukui, he'll come in anyway. Rude. At least we know he's not a vampire. This time head right when you leave.
  63. ###Route 1###
  64. Mandatory tutorial time! Pokémon are easier to catch when their health is low. Throw a Poké Ball at it and there's a chance you'll capture it. There's also a chance you'll waste a ball and a turn. Not demonstrated in this tutorial is that status moves also increase capture chance, especially if you put them to sleep. Also you can only catch wild Pokémon. Also, you can now use the Y button in wild battles to select Poké Balls. Tutorial over. Kukui rewards you with Potions and Poké Balls.
  65.
  66. - 10 Poké Balls - Given by Kukui
  67. - 5 Potions - Given by Kukui
  68.
  69. You may now explore Route 1 freely - haha who am I kidding, the path you took yesterday is blocked by a Tauros. Seriously.
  70.
  71. Wild Pokémon
  72.
  73. - Caterpie
  74. - Ledyba
  75. - Pikipek
  76. - Pichu
  77.
  78. Items
  79.
  80. - Potion - Next to rock immediately after second patch of grass
  81. - Poké Ball - Inside grass patch next to Audrey
  82. - Antidote - South of fence below route sign
  83. - Potion - Behind Grass patch between Trainer Tips sign and Oliver
  84. - Paralyze Heal - Past grass to the left of the steps to Iki Town
  85.
  86. Trainers
  87.
  88. - Youngster Jimmy (Unskippable) - Alolan Rattata Lv3
  89. - Lass Audrey - Caterpie Lv3
  90. - Preschooler Oliver - Yungoos Lv4
  91.
  92. Explore the route and you'll eventually reach Iki Town - You'll know you're near when you hear the drums. The part of Route 1 you travelled with Kukui is blocked of on this side by a boy who tells you the festival is about to start.
  93.
  94. ###Iki Town###
  95. The festival is starting! Head north and talk to Hau. Hau will, quite reasonably, be shocked that no-one told you about the festival. It's a battling festival, because Tapu Koko demands blood and violence pleases him. Hala will heal you, and ask if you're ready to fight. Say yes if you are, and you will be presented with tonight's sacrifice.
  96.
  97. ####Hau Round 2####
  98. #####Pichu Lv6#####
  99. - Charm
  100. - Thunder Shock
  101. #####Starter Lv7#####
  102.
  103. Pichu knows Charm, which halves your attack. If your Pokémon has a special move, this shouldn't be an issue, so long as you focus on using that. It also has Thundershock, which does 2x damage to Water and Flying types. It also has a chance of paralysing you, which lowers your speed and gives you a 25% chance of losing your turn while you're paralysed.
  104.
  105. His starter is exactly like it was in round one, only 2 levels higher. Deal with it the same as last time.
  106.
  107. This bloodshed pleases Tapu Koko, and Hala rewards you with the Z-Ring, which turns out to be made from the stone he took from you in the first place. He also gives you a vague game-spanning quest, which going against series tradition, does not involve taking on the Pokémon league as that doesn't exist in this region. He'll explain later. For now, you warp home and heal.
  108.
  109. ###Hau'oli Outskirts###
  110. You were expecting Kukui to ring that doorbell, BUT IT WAS I, LILLIE! And unlike Kukui, Lillie is a civilised human being/possible vampire who doesn't just let herself in. Lillie won't let you go to Route 1, but if you wander to the left of your house you can see that you are literally living right next to a City (next to a Pokémon Centre, no less). Unfortunately it's still blocked by Tauros. Head South and you can now explore the rest of Hau'oli Outskirts. Be careful in this area, as if you jump down ledges you'll have to walk around them to get back up.
  111.
  112. Wild Pokémon
  113.
  114. - Wingull
  115. - Alolan Rattata
  116.
  117. Items
  118.
  119. - Awakening - Past the Grass right of Kevin
  120.
  121. Trainers
  122.
  123. - Youngster Kevin - Grubbin Lv6
  124. - Lass Madison - Wingull Lv6
  125.
  126. Walk up to Lillie and find out exactly why these games are abbreviated as S&M. You enter the Lab, your Pokédex ends up being haunted by a ghost. Your bottom screen is now a map, and you also have your own talking Pokémon companion. Meowth, that's right! Hau shows up, Lillie is hiding something in the attic, and Kukui finally tells you what your goal is in this game. It's to be the best, like no-one ever was. When you're done, you'll be able to view the map by tapping it, a tip by tapping the smiley button in the centre, and you can also open the dex by tapping Rotom between the eyes. You are also able to explore the lab and smell Lillie's things. You can also go in the basement to check out the library. The bookshelves there will explain the difference between Physical, Special and Status moves if you don't know already. The red flag icon on the map is your destination - your first Pokémon Centre!
  127.
  128. When you arrive, Lillie will give you the tour. Talk to the Nurse to heal your Pokémon. If you have more than 6, you can organise them at the PC to the right of the Nurse. Further right you will find the Poké Mart, which sells the following:
  129. ####Hau'oli Outskirts Pokémart####
  130. - Poké Ball - ₽200
  131. - Potion - ₽200
  132. - Antidote - ₽200
  133. - Paralyze Heal - ₽300
  134. - Awakening - ₽100
  135. - Burn Heal - ₽300
  136. - Ice Heal - ₽100
  137. - Escape Rope - ₽1000
  138. - Repel - ₽400
  139.
  140. To the right you will find the café. The barista will tell you the time in Alola, rounded down to the nearest hour. For example if it's 1:59 in Alola, he will tell you it's 1 o'clock. The time in Alola is the same as your 3DS's clock if you're playing Pokémon Sun, but it's 12 hours off the internal clock if you're playing Moon. He will then offer you one of 3 drinks. Either one you pick costs ₽198, and has no effect other than giving you a free gift once a day. For me I was given 1 Casteliacone + Beans.
  141.
  142. If you check the menu at this point, you will notice a few new options; Quick Link, Festival Plaza, QR Scanner and Battle Video. Quick link is a quick method of accessing local multiplayer features. Festival Plaza takes you to a new area which contains the online features. The QR Scanner lets you scan QR codes to add Pokémon to the dex, and Battle Video is where you can save videos of online and facility battles. The Festival Plaza has it's own section of the guide, so check that out if you want.
  143.
  144. Leave the Pokémon Centre and head left to meet Lillie and that Tauros again. There's nowhere else to go, so head into the school.
  145. ###Trainer School###
  146. Walk up to Kukui and co. He will tell you to battle four students in the school, but not before giving you the EXP. Share! If you talk to Lillie after this, she will offer to heal you. One thing to note about this area is it introduces gates, which are new to the series and easily mistaken for walls. At the top left of the outside area, there is a red gate with a trainer on the other side. If you walk up to it and press A, you will cross over to the other side.
  147.

  168. - TM01 Work Up - Reward for beating Joseph
  169. - 5 Great Balls - Reward for beating Emily
  170.
  171. Once you beat Joseph, you'll get TM01, which teaches Work Up. This move boosts your Attack and Sp. Atk by 1 stage each, so it's useful for situations where you're able to set it up safely. You can use it as much as you want, and the only thing you have to lose is whatever move that gets replaced. You get called up to the office on 2F, and Liilie assumes the worst, but the teacher's just impressed and wants to fight you. Beat her and you'll be rewarded with 5 Great Balls, as well as story progression. Kukui introduces you to Captain Ilima, who's in charge of your first trial. He advises you to collect more Pokémon before facing him, then heads off. Emily finally calls the authorities on that Tauros, who's apparently a local celebrity. After saying goodbye Lillie takes you to Tauros. Turns out the authorities are Hau and Hala. They won't let you past until you pet the murderbull. Hau foreshadows something awesome that you may have tried if you've played the demo, and asks where you're going, which is the beach. Head there and ogle the bikini-clad women and Slowpokes in the cutscene.
  172.
  173. ###Hau'oli City Beachfront###
  174. You'll immediately be taught how to say hello in Alola, despite already demonstrating this knowledge if you've been to Festival Plaza. There's a couple of items here, but all there is to do here is advance to the next area.
  175.
  176. Items
  177.
  178. - Potion - From woman outside building on right
  179. - Poké Ball - Below first ramp on left
  180.
  181. ###Hau'oli City Shopping District###
  182. Head forward and Hau will take you to the tourist bureau, where you'll get a free Poké Finder! The desk to the left of the lady who gives you that is the Loto-ID centre, where you can get a prize based on whether any of your Pokémon's trainer ID's match the random number of the day.
  183.
  184. - 10 Ultra Balls - Catch 10 species of Pokémon, then talk to the guy in the bottom left corner of the tourist bureau.
  185.
  186. Leave and you'll get a tutorial on using the Poké Finder. To use it, walk up to the crack on the wall and press R. You'll now be able to move your camera by moving the 3DS console or using the stick - you can turn gyroscope controls off using the button on the left. Pressing A, R or tapping the camera button takes a picture. You can take up 6 pictures, but you can only pick one. The bottom right icon lets you finish taking pictures early.
  187.
  188. Once you choose a picture, you recieve "Thumbs-Ups" for it based on how good it is. You also get the option to save your photos and/or continue shooting. Getting enough Thumbs-Ups allows you to upgrade the Poké Finder.
  189.
