  1. (06:53:48) Cheeseness: Hey LeePetty
  2. (06:53:55) Cheeseness: Welcome back :D
  3. (06:53:58) Permafry_42: like how holding onto the lawn gnome in hl2 ep2 changed how you played the entire game
  4. (06:54:01) Permafry_42: Hey Lee!
  5. (06:54:09) liorean: I want all things labelled "Achievements" to be just that. Achievements. Anything in the progress marker, stupidity etc. categories should be excluded.
  6. (06:54:24) LeePetty: hello
  7. (06:54:53) Syd [Mibbit@hide-50DE3BC8.hsd1.wv.comcast.net] entered the room.
  8. (06:54:59) Cheeseness: Hey Syd :D
  9. (06:55:01) liorean: Like getting achievements for first death, or 100 deaths etc. Useless. Which is why I think the system as a whole is useless.
  10. (06:55:05) Syd: Hey
  11. (06:55:07) Permafry_42: Hey Syd!
  12. (06:55:49) Fhqwhgod: I hate the achievements in Universe sandbox. Play the game for a year
  13. (06:56:08) Fhqwhgod: same thing in Garry's Mod
  14. (06:56:09) liorean: A full year of game time?
  15. (06:56:16) Permafry_42: achievements in stanley parable were hillarious
  16. (06:56:19) Fhqwhgod: a full year of playtime
  17. (06:56:19) liorean: Screw that
  18. (06:56:44) liorean: That's basically: Run on a system in the background
  19. (06:56:50) Fhqwhgod: Stanley Parable was bordering on stupidity
  20. (06:57:02) Fhqwhgod: play the game for the entirety of a tuesday
  21. (06:57:19) liorean: Good grief.
  22. (06:57:28) Fhqwhgod: I spent that whole day in the broom closet
  23. (06:57:32) liorean: Stanley Parable was a fun little exploration though
  24. (06:58:02) Cheeseness: We're not far from starting the Stacking session :D
  25. (06:58:08) Permafry_42: i thought the stupidity of the achievements were part of the joke
  26. (06:58:19) liorean: Never gonna get all the endings for Stanley Parable though
  27. (06:58:23) Permafry_42: one of them you had to cheat in order to get
  28. (06:58:27) LeePetty: There is a fine line between stupidity and genius.
  29. (06:58:35) liorean: The baby burning game just takes too freaking long
  30. (06:58:40) Fhqwhgod: I remember almost pissing myself from laughter when I played that save the baby game for the first time
  31. (06:58:55) Fhqwhgod: The noise the button made was just so ott
  32. (06:58:57) Permafry_42: lol i just watched the youtube video for that ending
  33. (06:59:06) liorean: Fry: Same here
  34. (06:59:27) Permafry_42: that poor soul who went through the madness lol
  35. (06:59:58) beansmyname [bean@hide-66FC9128.ftth.swbr.surewest.net] entered the room.

  39. (07:00:21) Sven_Q45: Hi.

  45. (07:00:43) Cheeseness: Hey Sven_Q45

  56. (07:02:13) liorean: Femnazi Life?
  57. (07:02:35) Fhqwhgod: A Level 5 RPG for the 3DS. The title might be different though

  71. (07:04:13) Tomaterr [Mibbit@hide-9C0A2118.dhcp.oxy.edu] entered the room.
  72. (07:04:14) Cheeseness: Cool cool
  73. (07:04:15) Permafry_42: k thanks liorean!
  74. (07:04:15) LeePetty: I can tweet it when this is over

  77. (07:04:28) Permafry_42: hey Tomaterr
  78. (07:04:51) Cheeseness: Go Twitch ads
  79. (07:04:56) Tomaterr: sup peeps
  80. (07:05:06) liorean: Who else is likely to pop in?
  81. (07:05:08) KurtHectic [Mibbit@hide-DBE12AFC.cpe.webspeed.dk] entered the room.

  83. (07:05:12) LeePetty left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  84. (07:05:23) Syd: I was planning to get a 3DS recently but then I heard about the new model and decided to wait.
  85. (07:05:24) Cheeseness: liorean: Good question. I threw out a bunch of invites. No idea who's likely to make it ^_^
  86. (07:05:26) Permafry_42: God i really love the music
  87. (07:05:27) LeePetty [Mibbit@hide-1E624E3E.lightspeed.sntcca.sbcglobal.net] entered the room.
  88. (07:05:28) Cheeseness: Hi KurtHectic
  89. (07:05:40) Fhqwhgod: Good choice @Syd
  90. (07:05:48) Fhqwhgod: the waiting part
  91. (07:05:50) Syd: Every time I've gotten close to buying a 3DS they've announced a new model. :P
  92. (07:06:07) Syd: And I learned from the Gameboy and original DS to just wait for new models
  93. (07:06:14) Cheeseness: CHILD LABOUR ABOLISHED
  94. (07:06:20) flesk: I'm still reading that. That was a pretty long interview.
  95. (07:06:27) flesk: Oh.
  96. (07:06:29) LeePetty: That clock was part of the original AF prototype
  97. (07:06:40) liorean: The original GameBoy survived quite a while though before first upgrade possibility
  98. (07:06:52) flesk: I wasn't completely scrolled down. I meant the transcription of the interview.
  99. (07:07:13) Permafry_42: i was playing a gb during the gba era. my family used to be pretty poor lol
  100. (07:07:41) GameClubFan_805150 left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  101. (07:07:51) Fhqwhgod: 7 years between Gameboy & Gameboy pocket is ages compared to the current Nintendo
  102. (07:07:55) LeePetty: you guys find all of the dolls!
  103. (07:07:56) Cheeseness: I love how crafty Levi is. He's super fast at doing murals and setting up displays
  104. (07:07:58) liorean: I never owned one, but I had friends who had them.
  105. (07:08:15) LeePetty: never underestimate a hobo
  106. (07:09:18) liorean: This game has such a unique atmosphere
  107. (07:09:36) LeePetty: I think that is the first combo ability in the game
  108. (07:10:35) SirSlade [Mibbit@hide-D8F188C9.hsd1.ca.comcast.net] entered the room.
  109. (07:10:41) SirSlade: Yay internet fixed while I was out!
  110. (07:11:20) Syd: Stream dead, or just me?
  111. (07:11:21) LeePetty: stream died?
  112. (07:11:23) Fhqwhgod: and it's down
  113. (07:11:27) flesk: Went dead here too.
  114. (07:11:27) liorean: And stream is offline
  115. (07:11:28) Syd left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  116. (07:11:28) Tomaterr: rip stream
  117. (07:11:34) Permafry_42: 1 sec should be back in a moment
  118. (07:11:40) Bronsky: long live stream
  119. (07:11:45) liorean: Ads
  120. (07:11:50) Syd [Mibbit@hide-50DE3BC8.hsd1.wv.comcast.net] entered the room.
  121. (07:11:56) liorean: and stream is back
  122. (07:12:07) LeePetty: clowns are evil
  123. (07:12:24) SirSlade: Always.I've seen IT
  124. (07:12:30) Bronsky: everybody knows that
  125. (07:12:32) Permafry_42: they might just be misunderstood like most of the enemies in this world lol
  126. (07:12:37) Fhqwhgod is now known as Pennywise
  127. (07:12:43) LeePetty: my mom got a clown for my 5th birthday and I hit him and ran away crying
  128. (07:12:45) Pennywise: Hello children!
  129. (07:13:13) Permafry_42: really love the level design on this one
  130. (07:13:19) Pennywise is now known as Fhqwhgod
  131. (07:13:35) SirSlade: Did it leave a baloon animal shaped scar in your psyche, Lee?
  132. (07:13:55) LeePetty: It did.
  133. (07:15:18) LeePetty: For those of you interested in level design, I posted the design doc. I wrote during the production of Stacking for the Zeppelin, the other day
  134. (07:15:19) LeePetty: https://www.scribd.com/doc/241713707/Stacking-Zeppelin-Level-Design
  135. (07:15:33) GameClubFan_769521 [Mibbit@hide-F23E31AB.dk.customer.tdc.net] entered the room.
  136. (07:15:37) Tomaterr left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  137. (07:16:45) Permafry_42: cool; i'll definetely check it out after the stream
  138. (07:17:00) liorean: I tried to get my niece interested in playing this game. Sadly the reliance on English made it not fun for her, as she's just started learning that in school
  139. (07:17:08) SirSlade: I'm kind of in love with that document right now.
  140. (07:17:16) LeePetty: yes, there's a lot of reading
  141. (07:17:26) LeePetty: I often wonder what it would've been like with voice instead
  142. (07:17:29) LeePetty: maybe really creepy
  143. (07:17:48) Fhqwhgod: Somehow this level and the ship level are blurring together in my mind
  144. (07:18:00) GameClubFan_769521 left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  145. (07:18:14) liorean: Lee: She would have as much problem with voices as she has with reading I'm afraid. It's language, not text, that is the problem for her.
  146. (07:18:36) LeePetty: the spice girl is named after Jane Ng, who was an environment artist on the project
  147. (07:19:56) SirSlade: When you said spice girl my mind immediately went to the band, and I was taken aback "Jane was a Spice Girl?!"
  148. (07:20:37) LeePetty: fire chief russell is named after Dave russell, who was the lead animator
  149. (07:20:57) liorean: Swedish isn't a large enough language to get games translated into, even when the game would be great for a demographic that doesn't know English
  150. (07:21:02) GameClubFan_506301 [Mibbit@hide-1EBF969F.dslgb.com] entered the room.
  151. (07:21:14) LeePetty: Sadly, because Sweden is pretty amazing
  152. (07:21:30) LeePetty: fire and ice == frank frazetta ref
  153. (07:21:38) Fhqwhgod: I was learning English as a child while playing games
  154. (07:21:56) liorean: <Not even Swedish game companies like to add Swedish as a language for their games.
  155. (07:22:20) LeePetty: The sneezing guy reminded me
  156. (07:22:20) liorean: I learnt most of my English from Civilisation, Colonisation and X-COM
  157. (07:22:30) LeePetty: His name is Sir Sully Taintwell
  158. (07:22:43) LeePetty: I once searched and we have 20 instances of the word "taint" in the game
  159. (07:22:44) flesk: liorean: That's odd. I think most Norwegian games get Norwegian subs at least.
  160. (07:22:54) LeePetty: stream go down?
  161. (07:23:04) Cheeseness: It should be back up
  162. (07:23:06) Permafry_42: should be back in a second
  163. (07:23:15) LeePetty: yup, back up
  164. (07:23:17) flesk: Yep, it's back.
  165. (07:23:50) LeePetty: artful dodger = oliver ref!
  166. (07:24:02) LeePetty: gilliam = Terry Gilliam ref
  167. (07:24:04) Cheeseness: :D
  168. (07:24:30) LeePetty: I think Gilliam is inspired by a former coworker who wanted to always hug people
  169. (07:24:38) LeePetty: Ironically, he was bald
  170. (07:25:45) LeePetty: she can attract one lady in the game!
  171. (07:25:49) liorean: I love that hip swishing animation
  172. (07:25:51) LeePetty: the lady guards
  173. (07:27:53) LeePetty: There area lot of free-to-play monetization jokes around here somewhere
  174. (07:29:32) DarthBo left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  175. (07:30:56) GameClubFan_506301 left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  176. (07:32:23) SirSlade: I love how smoothly the sense of scale transitions from being tiny to giant
  177. (07:32:26) LeePetty: baron's guards aren't too clever
  178. (07:32:45) LeePetty: We had separate camera settings for each size
  179. (07:33:03) LeePetty: Early on we experimented with much larger transitions between doll sizes
  180. (07:33:06) Cheeseness: I love the bilboard water
  181. (07:33:20) LeePetty: You could get in a HUGE doll, which was cool, but kind of hard to play
  182. (07:33:53) Cheeseness: What sort of roles did you envision for those huge dolls?
  183. (07:34:13) SirSlade: I'd imagine so. Probably also a paint to have a more cohesive world with stuff for really tiny and gigantic dolls
  184. (07:34:17) LeePetty: There was a piece of concept art I did really early on that had dinosaur dolls in it
  185. (07:34:18) SirSlade: pain*
  186. (07:34:25) Cheeseness: Dinosaurs :D
  187. (07:34:26) Fhqwhgod left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  188. (07:34:37) LeePetty: yea, have you seen that image?
  189. (07:34:50) LeePetty: It was part of a level design we never pursued
  190. (07:34:55) liorean: I don't think I have seen it
  191. (07:34:58) LeePetty: Took place in a natural history museum
  192. (07:35:01) Cheeseness: I don't think I've seen it either
  193. (07:35:15) LeePetty: let me see if I can find it...
  194. (07:35:57) LeePetty: When I was writing this game, there was a giant oil spill from an off shore oil platform
  195. (07:36:02) psymin [~psymin@hide-A242B046.static.bresnan.net] entered the room.
  196. (07:36:05) LeePetty: so it kind of inspired an off-shore child labor platform
  197. (07:36:17) Cheeseness: Hey psymin
  198. (07:37:25) psymin: howdy
  199. (07:37:43) psymin: I didn't finish stacking, alas :P
  200. (07:37:54) Cheeseness: Aww
  201. (07:38:44) Cheeseness: Hah, I hadn't seen the oil candle thing
  202. (07:39:04) Syd: Unfortunately I gotta head out early. Enjoy the rest of the stream, everyone!
  203. (07:39:10) Cheeseness: Thanks for coming, Syd
  204. (07:39:15) SirSlade: Later Syd
  205. (07:39:20) Syd left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  206. (07:41:02) LeePetty: Cheese, I just tweeted the museum concept
  207. (07:41:05) Cheeseness: https://twitter.com/leepetty/status/518516108924436480/photo/1
  208. (07:41:07) LeePetty: with the giant dinosaurs
  209. (07:41:14) Cheeseness: Nice. Those dinosaurs look great
  210. (07:41:22) Permafry_42: what i wish was a solution for tiberius was oil + candle
  211. (07:41:25) LeePetty: Also featured are Cro-Magnon stacking heads
  212. (07:41:46) LeePetty: Like lighting him on fire?
  213. (07:41:59) LeePetty: You can use oil on the candle
  214. (07:42:34) LeePetty: I thought!
  215. (07:42:46) LeePetty: You can fart on the candle, and I thought oil on the candle give you the same solution
  216. (07:43:01) LeePetty: That puzzle changed a lot during playtesting
  217. (07:43:33) Cheeseness: Charlie is so tiny next to everybody else
  218. (07:43:42) Permafry_42: yeah i think fart works for tiberius but oil and candle doesn't, though i might be wrong
  219. (07:44:30) DF_Chad [Mibbit@hide-9239B715.dsl.dynamic.fusionbroadband.com] entered the room.
  220. (07:44:35) LeePetty: Chad!
  221. (07:44:37) DF_Chad: Hi all
  222. (07:44:41) LeePetty: Chad was the lead programmer on Stacking
  223. (07:44:45) SirSlade: Hi Chad
  224. (07:44:48) Permafry_42: hey chad!
  225. (07:44:49) Cheeseness: Hey Chad! Thanks for making it!
  226. (07:44:51) LeePetty: Is currently the lead programmer on Massive Challice
  227. (07:45:02) DF_Chad: this is Chad - I was the programmer on Stacking too
  228. (07:45:12) LeePetty: He also enjoys humor based on farting
  229. (07:45:29) Cheeseness: DF_Chad: Are you on Twitter? I can't recall
  230. (07:45:34) flesk: Doesn't everyone?
  231. (07:45:50) DF_Chad: yeah I think its @citx
  232. (07:45:58) Cheeseness: Ah! That's it
  233. (07:46:02) DF_Chad: who is playing this stream? Lee?
  234. (07:46:18) LeePetty: Not me
  235. (07:46:43) Cheeseness: Permafry_42 is
  236. (07:46:45) flesk: Paavo Härkönen and Josh Mandel were here for the Al Emmo game club and they seemed to be huge fart joke enthusiasts as well.
  237. (07:46:50) DF_Chad: pretty far along you guys are fast
  238. flesk flesk_
  239. flesk flesk_
  240. (07:47:09) LeePetty: This is our third session
  241. (07:47:12) Cheeseness: flesk: We've had both those guys as guests for past Game Club sessions \o/
  242. (07:47:30) LeePetty: toilets
  243. (07:47:33) LeePetty: notice the saw dust
  244. (07:47:38) LeePetty: that is Stacking doll poo
  245. (07:47:41) flesk: Cheeseness: Besides Al Emmo?
  246. (07:47:47) LeePetty: yea, highbrow entertainment
  247. flesk flesk_
  248. (07:48:01) flesk: No wait.
  249. (07:48:02) Cheeseness: flesk: We had Josh join us for Police Quest one and Paavo join us for Fester Mudd
  250. (07:48:08) DF_Chad: wow this pc build is looking good. I completed on 360 and PS3 during development but dont think I've done a full run on PC
  251. (07:48:16) flesk: Cheeseness: I meant Fester Mudd. :$
  252. (07:48:19) Cheeseness: PC is best :D
  253. (07:48:39) flesk: Al Emmo is something completely different. I wasn't here for Police Quest.
  254. (07:48:56) LeePetty: the clown doll is named after our former lead tester, Steve Peck
  255. (07:49:08) DF_Chad: there is some fun trickery we used especially on this level to simulate so many dolls. When you go from car to car and even from top to bottom of a car it turns off dolls in some of the other cars
  256. (07:49:16) flesk: That clown is creepy.
  257. (07:49:16) Cheeseness: That clown is super scary
  258. (07:49:32) LeePetty: The clown was my favorite doll to draw!
  259. (07:49:40) beansmyname: I love that clown!
  260. (07:49:56) Permafry_42: i love the clown. he's a kind spirit deep down inside
  261. (07:49:59) flesk: LeePetty: Was it a therapeutic experience?
  262. (07:50:07) DF_Chad: I think that is your voice there too lee on the "Evil clown" screeam
  263. (07:50:10) DF_Chad: or freddies maybe
  264. (07:50:58) LeePetty: I think that was Freddie
  265. (07:51:07) LeePetty: Yea, art is therapy for me, clearly
  266. (07:51:15) Cheeseness: :D
  267. (07:51:20) LeePetty: I ride the train 2 hours a day, so that's some of the inspiration for Stacking
  268. (07:51:55) liorean: Long commute...
  269. (07:52:01) Permafry_42: probably not going to do a second solution since the clown one is the best
  270. (07:52:08) LeePetty: Cheese, I just tweeted a few concepts of some of the dolls we ran into, including the clown
  271. (07:52:24) Cheeseness: https://twitter.com/leepetty/status/518518591340027904/photo/1
  272. (07:52:25) DF_Chad: Lee would come in sometimes with sketches or stories of weird people on the train.
  273. (07:52:26) Cheeseness: Cheers!
  274. (07:52:50) LeePetty: Its true, endless inspiration
  275. (07:53:01) LeePetty: Someone took their shoe and sock off the other day and started clipping their toenails on the train
  276. (07:53:02) liorean: Working together, like a true family!
  277. (07:53:22) LeePetty: Yea, I really wanted to make sure the family all worked together at one point
  278. (07:53:34) LeePetty: The Mom is the strong one
  279. (07:53:35) Cheeseness: Charlie is so tiny
  280. (07:53:40) DF_Chad: his commute really helped though as he would hit the morning meeting with a full page of notes of stuff to get done that day while the rest of us were just looking around for a coffee cup
  281. (07:54:18) LeePetty: Haha. Yea, when you're trapped on a train it forces you to be productive
  282. (07:54:31) DF_Chad: I forgot how nice the score was on this game
  283. (07:54:37) liorean: I usually sleep on trains
  284. (07:54:40) DF_Chad: so refreshign
  285. (07:54:50) Cheeseness: I normally draw or code on long train trips
  286. (07:54:50) SirSlade: I wish there was a train into Marin...
  287. (07:54:50) Permafry_42: Chad, did you have any trouble when porting the pc version to unlock the framerate so that the game could be played at 60hz or higher?
  288. (07:54:59) Cheeseness: We don't have trains in this state though, so that's only when I'm traveling
  289. (07:55:00) LeePetty: Yea, Brian Min, Camden Stoddard did a great job on the audio
  290. (07:55:27) LeePetty: ORPHAN PIT
  291. (07:55:36) liorean: A whole state without trains?
  292. (07:55:44) Cheeseness: Passenger trains anyway
  293. (07:55:50) DF_Chad: it wasnt too bad to get to 60Hz, the perf on pc's is better. Most of the work was done by our graphics programmer David Farrel though. He was working on it for Brutal on PC too.
  294. (07:56:23) Cheeseness: Best
  295. (07:56:29) DF_Chad: oh yeah. look for some hidden easter eggs in the orphan pit
  296. (07:56:35) GameClubFan_869246 [Mibbit@hide-82B81841.cable.virginm.net] entered the room.
  297. (07:56:53) LeePetty: We also put some challenge hints for these challenges if you open the UI, and some of those names are also easter eggs for other games
  298. (07:57:36) DF_Chad: are we going to hit the DLC after this run?
  299. (07:57:54) Cheeseness: We were thinking of doing the DLC later in the year (liek we did with the Costume Quest DLC)
  300. (07:58:00) DF_Chad: ah cool
  301. (07:58:27) beansmyname: Good. That gives me time to play it. :D
  302. (07:58:31) Cheeseness: :D
  303. (07:58:51) LeePetty: Hmm...can't remember where I put them now
  304. (07:59:03) GameClubFan_869246 left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  305. (07:59:06) Cheeseness: LeePetty: How many lines of dialogue are there in the game, do you reckon?
  306. (07:59:10) LeePetty: I now that the gate one has a challenge name called "LIFT for dead"
  307. (07:59:21) LeePetty: Lets, see, I checked at one point. I think around 7,000?
  308. (07:59:50) Cheeseness: You having internet problems, Permafry_42?
  309. (08:00:01) Permafry_42: yeah just a sec
  310. (08:00:13) Permafry_42: k should be good now
  311. (08:00:21) Ilya[Linux] [Mibbit@hide-754887A1.dsl.scarlet.be] entered the room.
  312. (08:00:27) Permafry_42: or not... might take more than a sec
  313. (08:00:30) DF_Chad: this final battle is the part I spent the least gameplay time on. At this point in development I was knee deep in optimization, bugs, and such. Bert and Tony were hitting their stride in scripting.
  314. (08:00:38) Cheeseness: By comparison, Act 1 of Broken Age had 4,400 lines of dialogue
  315. (08:00:41) Permafry_42: brb in less than a minute
  316. (08:00:57) LeePetty: We have a pretty nice dialog database -- its pretty easy to get dialog in and out into the game
  317. (08:01:09) LeePetty: Act 2 of Broken Age has MUCH more.
  318. (08:01:14) Cheeseness: Yeah, so I heard :D
  319. (08:01:29) DF_Chad: everytime I play stacking I see a line or 2 I hadnt seen before.
  320. (08:01:32) Cheeseness: Stacking not having voice acting must've made it really easy to slot in more dialogue
  321. (08:01:44) DF_Chad: lee was the dialog king
  322. (08:01:57) LeePetty: Its true. Voice acting is the worse thing ever -- it really limits when you can put it in
  323. (08:02:30) Cheeseness: The Monkey Island special editions really highlighted that there are pacing things that you can do with text that can be difficult to map across to voice
  324. (08:02:49) SirSlade: Is there also an issue with Voice Acting where you can't get the same meaning/tone of voice as you want to be conveyed in game?
  325. (08:03:00) Permafry42 [Mibbit@hide-8FD4620C.vw.shawcable.net] entered the room.
  326. (08:03:05) Cheeseness: That mostly comes down to direction, I imagine?
  327. (08:03:16) LeePetty: SirSlade, perhaps. But thats why you need a good voice director and expience
  328. (08:03:16) DF_Chad: we set up some nice rule tables so he could write custom stuff for when certain kinds of dolls talked to others. Everything had tags like Child, or Rich, or Large and we could customize the dialog around the tags on the talker and the listener.
  329. (08:03:21) Permafry42: k sorry for the wait. hopefully this will fix the issue
  330. Permafry42 Permafry_42
  331. (08:03:29) Cheeseness: Thanks, Permafry
  332. (08:03:32) SirSlade: Right, of course :D
  333. (08:04:01) Permafry42: k do you see the logo yet?
  334. (08:04:03) Cheeseness: Yep
  335. (08:04:05) Ilya[Linux]: that's interesting
  336. (08:04:14) KurtHectic left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  337. (08:04:24) Permafry42: k its on again
  338. (08:04:48) LeePetty: Hmm. Not seeing the stream still
  339. (08:04:55) DF_Chad: so much humor in those little cutscenes. Lee who did most of the cutscene anim. Was it Rusty?
  340. (08:04:56) Cheeseness: Click pause and play again, LeePetty
  341. (08:05:07) LeePetty: that did it
  342. (08:05:12) LeePetty: Yea, Rusty and Ruel
  343. (08:05:27) LeePetty: We got Ruel in the latter half of the project, working remotely
  344. (08:05:34) LeePetty: I think he was on Costume Quest and that wrapped up
  345. (08:05:36) DF_Chad: right
  346. (08:05:47) LeePetty: We even got a little David Gardener time right at the very end to polish a few things
  347. (08:05:53) Permafry_42 left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  348. (08:06:09) DF_Chad: has everyone seen the stacking poster that has all the dolls in the game on it?
  349. (08:06:09) liorean: I recall seein recording of Ron Gilbert giving a talk about how Monkey Island couldn't possibly have worked as a voice acted game.
  350. (08:06:25) liorean: Don't remember exactly what he said about it though
  351. (08:06:39) LeePetty: That Stacking poster was a pain to make
  352. (08:06:46) Cheeseness: Oh?
  353. (08:06:47) LeePetty: I kept crashing the game, putting all of the dolls together :)
  354. (08:06:59) DF_Chad: yeah you made it in engine right?
  355. (08:07:17) dsiOne left the room (quit: Ping timeout: 183 seconds).
  356. (08:07:18) DF_Chad: a custom poster level if I recall
  357. (08:07:21) LeePetty: I used the game's cutscene editor to position all of the dolls in that custom doll shelf I modeled, and then rendered it out, and then it went into photoshop
  358. (08:07:23) Cheeseness: Oh neat
  359. (08:07:27) LeePetty: where it got a lot of painting love
  360. (08:08:17) LeePetty: nice ! bug!
  361. (08:08:27) DF_Chad: what!
  362. (08:08:31) DF_Chad: (here
  363. (08:08:33) LeePetty: we shouldn't have allowed that, or at least had a custom response
  364. (08:08:38) DF_Chad: (here's the poster http://shop.doublefine.com/collections/game-stacking
  365. (08:09:23) LeePetty: The bear lives!
  366. (08:09:26) Cheeseness: Mr Ruffles deserves his own spin off game
  367. (08:09:35) LeePetty: I would love that
  368. (08:09:39) DF_Chad: indeed
  369. (08:09:39) Cheeseness: :D
  370. (08:09:47) LeePetty: I also like the unique doll description of mr. ruffles
  371. (08:09:50) Permafry42: i love the hobocopter
  372. (08:09:51) LeePetty: it gets progressively more creepy
  373. (08:09:57) DF_Chad: i think he is smaller than charlie
  374. (08:10:06) LeePetty: I had a DLC designed for the HOBO STRIKE TEAM
  375. (08:10:12) LeePetty: but alas, we only got to make one DLC
  376. (08:10:18) DF_Chad: so far....
  377. (08:10:20) Cheeseness: The whole game is really Mr Ruffles' spirit possessing Charlie
  378. (08:10:29) DF_Chad: I built the dlc code to handle 10 :)
  379. (08:10:44) Cheeseness: 10 Stacking DLCs CONFIRMED
  380. (08:10:48) Permafry42: love this cutscene
  381. (08:11:01) Cheeseness: Hah
  382. (08:11:03) LeePetty: I remember the original plan was to add another room to the train station with a new train that would show up evey time there was a new dlc
  383. (08:11:06) DF_Chad: haha
  384. (08:11:10) LeePetty: This is my homage to Michael Bat
  385. (08:11:12) LeePetty: Bay
  386. (08:11:13) Ilya[Linux] left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  387. (08:11:20) DF_Chad: brian min going crazy with the audio mix on this one!
  388. (08:11:25) LeePetty: Brian went nuts
  389. (08:11:31) Ilya[Linux] [Mibbit@hide-754887A1.dsl.scarlet.be] entered the room.
  390. (08:11:36) LeePetty: This whole level is a game designer joke
  391. (08:11:58) Cheeseness: Orphan surfing is the new thing
  392. (08:11:59) LeePetty: The concept of a rock-paper-scissors idea, is a commonly used game design element
  393. (08:12:02) DF_Chad: see if you can spot Raz in the pit?
  394. (08:12:12) LeePetty: Yea, Raz is in the pit somewhere
  395. (08:12:25) Permafry42: yup saw him
  396. (08:12:33) SheMightBeMarykate [Mibbit@hide-279F8648.hr.hr.cox.net] entered the room.
  397. (08:12:33) LeePetty: And one of the costume quest characters is in the big net at the end when the hobo copter lifts everyone up
  398. (08:12:48) soeb left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  399. (08:12:55) DF_Chad: its hard with that mean barron not giving you much time to look around
  400. (08:13:21) LeePetty: The scissor guy is based on the logo on a fish sticks package I ate a lot of as a kid
  401. (08:13:23) dsiOne [dsiOne@hide-5A3E278B.tx.res.rr.com] entered the room.
  402. (08:13:24) DF_Chad: I think there's a brutal axe in there someplace too
  403. (08:13:30) LeePetty: I think it was called "Gordon's" fish sticks or something
  404. (08:13:44) LeePetty: The Ormagoden belt buckle is in the Hobo DLC
  405. (08:14:11) ***SheMightBeMarykate loves easter eggs
  406. (08:14:18) SheMightBeMarykate: :)
  407. (08:14:22) Cheeseness: Hey Marykate :D
  408. (08:14:28) LeePetty: Hey Marykate
  409. (08:14:35) Cheeseness: I thought you were going to miss the session
  410. (08:14:41) SheMightBeMarykate: Hiyas <3
  411. (08:14:51) DarthBo [Mibbit@hide-1F6430FD.access.telenet.be] entered the room.
  412. (08:14:55) Cheeseness: Hey DarthBo
  413. (08:14:56) Permafry42: since we have just enough time, I'll be going back to the blimp to do the sorting bonus challenge, since its one of my favourite puzzles in he game
  414. (08:14:57) LeePetty: The orphans ATE the Baron!
  415. (08:15:12) liorean: How many other games are set in a silent movie-screenplay like this?
  416. (08:15:18) LeePetty: Oh yea, the sorting puzzle. Kee Chi was responsible for that one!
  417. (08:15:19) SheMightBeMarykate: hehe.... ewww.
  418. (08:15:25) liorean: Super Mario Bros 3 aside...
  419. (08:15:43) DF_Chad: http://miburl.com/lGKnxK
  420. (08:15:46) SheMightBeMarykate: Kee's pretty awesome.
  421. (08:15:47) Permafry42: paper mario thousand year door is designed as though its a play
  422. (08:15:53) LeePetty: The hobo strike team sets up shop in Charlie's secret hideout at the end of the game
  423. (08:16:02) LeePetty: They have little tuna-can fire pits and such
  424. (08:16:13) Permafry42: wow my internet is being mean to me today =C
  425. (08:16:15) SheMightBeMarykate: Did everyone lose the stream or just me?
  426. (08:16:26) Cheeseness: It'll be back up in a tick
  427. (08:16:37) liorean: There's that utterly brittish beat em up that is set as a stageplay as well
  428. (08:16:40) Permafry42: 1 moment and it should fix itself eventually
  429. (08:17:04) LeePetty: Oh, Battle Block Theater
  430. (08:17:15) Cheeseness: oh yeah
  431. (08:17:16) Permafry42: canada has infamously unstable internet compared to most places with expensive internet
  432. (08:17:19) SirSlade: I still need to play Battle Block Theater.
  433. (08:17:34) Cheeseness: I've seen a couple of other games that had silent movie-like title cards, but no names are coming to mind
  434. (08:17:51) liorean: Actually not Battle Block theatre I was thinking about. And that's a platformer rathern than a Beat em up
  435. (08:18:11) LeePetty: Are you talking about the one from grasshopper manufacture?
  436. (08:18:14) LeePetty: I didn't play it
  437. (08:18:38) LeePetty: It is HOT here today in sunny California
  438. (08:18:45) SirSlade: Foul Play liorean?
  439. (08:18:47) Cheeseness: OK, stream should be back up. Pause and play again if it's not back
  440. (08:18:49) Permafry42: k the stream should be working again, at least for now
  441. (08:18:56) SheMightBeMarykate: I've got it on 360, but haven't played it in a long while... Played Castle Crashers countless times. BBT not so much.
  442. (08:19:13) LeePetty: yea, still love castle crashers
  443. (08:19:13) DF_Chad: you said it lee. like 85 here in the city. I can only imagine down your way.
  444. (08:19:22) SheMightBeMarykate: Me, too.
  445. (08:19:24) LeePetty: Its in the 90's down here
  446. (08:19:32) Permafry42: catch is the way i kept the cutscene from continues causes a glitch that makes the music not play for some reason
  447. (08:19:33) LeePetty: But soon, beer will be had
  448. (08:19:46) Ilya[Linux]: where is the music???
  449. (08:19:48) SirSlade: High 90's in the North bay too
  450. (08:19:56) SheMightBeMarykate: It's autumnal and lovely here today. Very cool outside. Blue sky, puffy clouds.
  451. (08:20:00) Permafry42: ARRRGH XC
  452. (08:20:09) LeePetty: What state are you in?
  453. (08:20:11) Cheeseness: It's all good. These things happen
  454. (08:20:43) SheMightBeMarykate: 70 degrees here.
  455. (08:20:50) Permafry42: i'm seriously considering complaining to my isp after this, since we are paying a lot of money and this happens all the time
  456. (08:20:53) liorean: Foul Play, that's the game I was thinking of!
  457. (08:20:57) SheMightBeMarykate: Me? ...I'm in Virginia.
  458. (08:21:05) liorean: Took a while of searching to find it
  459. (08:21:10) LeePetty: Is it humid there?
  460. (08:21:15) Cheeseness: Should we have music during the credits?
  461. (08:21:21) LeePetty: yes
  462. (08:21:40) Permafry42: yes 1 sec its a bug that is cause when alt tabing out of the window in the middle of a cutscene
  463. (08:21:44) SheMightBeMarykate: THQ <3
  464. (08:21:52) SheMightBeMarykate: ....awww :(
  465. (08:21:55) LeePetty: the were really easy to work with
  466. (08:21:59) LeePetty: THQ
  467. (08:21:59) SheMightBeMarykate: I get nostalgic.
  468. (08:22:03) Permafry42: there we go music should be back again now
  469. (08:22:03) liorean: And SirSlade was way faster than me
  470. (08:22:21) liorean: THQ, I liked them
  471. (08:22:22) Cheeseness: Look at all those dolls
  472. (08:22:23) SirSlade: I literally googled "British brawler game". Google knows all.
  473. (08:22:46) Ilya[Linux]: the music and the graphical style fit so beautifully together in this game
  474. (08:22:52) LeePetty: I can't remember what the hobos have to say
  475. (08:22:55) LeePetty: at the end game here
  476. (08:22:55) liorean: I used beat 'em up instead of brawler. Bad choice apparently
  477. (08:23:03) BadAsp [Mibbit@hide-18FEE048.dhcp.oxfr.ma.charter.com] entered the room.
  478. (08:23:03) DF_Chad: oh man I forgot all this end game stuff
  479. (08:23:07) LeePetty: isn't the hobo copter somewhere in your hide out?
  480. (08:23:12) BadAsp: Sorry, I just got here, I hope I'm not too late!
  481. (08:23:27) liorean: BadAsp you're pretty late
  482. (08:23:28) DF_Chad: miss the lighting in the game
  483. (08:23:29) LeePetty: One of them asks you for lady advice
  484. (08:23:29) Cheeseness: Hey BadAsp! We're at the end of the game, but Permafry42 is going to run around and do some stuff
  485. (08:23:35) BadAsp: Okay
  486. (08:23:35) SheMightBeMarykate: THQ thoughts give me the warm fuzzies. Lots of games that were/are special to me.
  487. (08:23:57) Cheeseness: It's weird to have Nordic Games wearing the THQ name now
  488. (08:24:06) BadAsp: So, covering everything we've missed?
  489. (08:24:18) LeePetty: Yea, Nordic games released a retail box game of Stacking in Europe
  490. (08:24:22) SheMightBeMarykate: You have to say THQ with a viking accent now.
  491. (08:24:30) LeePetty: along with Costume Quest
  492. (08:24:35) SirSlade: I love Zeppelins. Why don't people today use more Zeppelins for travel?
  493. (08:24:37) Cheeseness: Neat
  494. (08:24:39) DF_Chad: man we should get some of those boxes LEE!
  495. (08:24:47) SheMightBeMarykate: Hindenburg
  496. (08:24:50) LeePetty: I know, I haven't seen them yet, Chad
  497. (08:24:51) liorean: THQ's rights got spread all over. I know Deep Silver managed to catch a few good ones
  498. (08:24:54) LeePetty: I did the art for them, though
  499. (08:25:01) SheMightBeMarykate: Hindenburg spoiled it.
  500. (08:25:26) SirSlade: Yeah, but I mean, that's what? One. Out of how many?
  501. (08:25:46) LeePetty: Ruel animated all of the Thad dancing sequences
  502. (08:25:53) SheMightBeMarykate: Yeah, but it horrified the living hell out of people...
  503. (08:25:59) SirSlade: Just sayin' other forms of transport crash, just because that one did so in a really explosive way doesn't mean we have to stop using 'em
  504. (08:26:34) LeePetty: booty dance
  505. (08:26:38) DF_Chad: wasnt there a trick you could do with a spotter doll on that puzzle?
  506. (08:26:39) Cheeseness: That dance
  507. (08:26:41) SheMightBeMarykate: ...Famous live broadcast, and the images of the inferno.
  508. (08:27:28) DF_Chad: i loved that headbutt guy
  509. (08:27:48) Permafry42: Alrighty we'll be ending here now after i replay the credits with the music playing correctly
  510. (08:27:52) LeePetty: nice work
  511. (08:28:21) Permafry42: unless you guys want to see the concept browser before we end it?
  512. (08:28:27) SirSlade: Yeah, I know the reasons, they're also really ineffeceint compared to modern travel. And it's definitely merited, but give it time and I think it could be an awesome form of luxury travel again.
  513. (08:28:30) Cheeseness: Yeah, let's do some of that, Permafry42
  514. (08:29:27) SheMightBeMarykate: ...Just means they shouldn't be filled with flammable gas, mainly. But people get reluctant after an event like that. Also, they're slow. People fly mainly for practical purposes nowadays, few do it for leisure. But I'm sure Virgin would offer something if there were enough interest generated.
  515. (08:29:53) liorean: Zeppelins today would probably need to be made of Helium balloons instead of hydrogen balloons. So they'd have to be much bigger compared to the carry weight
  516. (08:30:11) LeePetty: those were some of the first dolls i drew
  517. (08:30:18) BadAsp: Very nice
  518. (08:30:19) LeePetty: I think during AF?
  519. (08:30:19) SheMightBeMarykate: Not to get severely sidetracked or anything. :P
  520. (08:30:22) LeePetty: Or maybe just after
  521. (08:30:28) LeePetty: That one in the middle looks like Chad
  522. (08:30:29) Permafry42: lol i had thought the slide show was on XD
  523. (08:30:35) SirSlade: Zeppelins are never a distraction :D
  524. (08:30:47) Permafry42: the slide show is a bit fast though
  525. (08:31:07) LeePetty: we didn't have the concept art browser in the console version
  526. (08:31:08) GameClubFan_999553 [Mibbit@hide-55451ECA.hsd1.wa.comcast.net] entered the room.
  527. (08:31:11) SheMightBeMarykate: So Lee, you always had an idea of the time period?
  528. (08:31:16) Permafry42: yeah its a cool extra feature
  529. (08:31:20) LeePetty: we added it for the PC version
  530. (08:31:31) LeePetty: Hmmm.. yea, its kind of a made up time period
  531. (08:31:38) LeePetty: because it has victorian, silent film era mixed
  532. (08:31:39) SheMightBeMarykate: I LOVE the peacock dolls... just cuz.
  533. (08:31:42) DF_Chad: hmm would be nice to have a little art book of these.....
  534. (08:31:52) LeePetty: So Its called late 19th century up throw 1930's
  535. (08:31:55) LeePetty: through
  536. (08:32:06) BadAsp: They're very pretty, and I appreciate the amount of work that was put into it
  537. (08:32:16) LeePetty: Like Tim, I don't like to have real world references in the game, directly
  538. (08:32:17) liorean: Lovely house there
  539. (08:32:20) LeePetty: So no actual place names, etc
  540. (08:32:41) LeePetty: Lord Humungus is talking!
  541. (08:32:44) Cheeseness: :D
  542. (08:32:51) GameClubFan_999553 left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  543. (08:32:52) Cheeseness: Thanks for streaming, Permafry42
  544. (08:32:54) flesk: Thanks for streaming, Perma.
  545. (08:32:55) LeePetty: Australian is alway Road Warrior, man. Just always.
  546. (08:33:01) Cheeseness: People are as always welcome to hang around and continue chatting
  547. (08:33:03) LeePetty: man, I can't type today
  548. (08:33:08) LeePetty: I'm going to go...
  549. (08:33:14) SirSlade: Thanks for streaming Permafry42
  550. (08:33:15) LeePetty: But, hey, thanks for playing everyone!
  551. (08:33:18) Cheeseness: When is Double Fine going to make a Max Max game?
  552. (08:33:20) DarthBo left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  553. (08:33:21) liorean: Thanks for the stream, fry, thanks for the dev chats, Lee, Chad
  554. (08:33:22) Cheeseness: Thanks heaps for coming, LeePetty!
  555. (08:33:24) flesk: So is it back to chatting about Super Win the Game again?
  556. (08:33:30) DF_Chad: thanks guys I'm going to get bet back to massive chalice coding. and sweating in this SF heat wave.
  557. (08:33:31) beansmyname: thanks Lee and Permafry42.
  558. (08:33:41) LeePetty: Its always nice when someone likes playing your game
  559. (08:33:42) liorean: Flesk:; Either chatting about it.... or playing it.
  560. (08:33:42) Permafry42: Thanks to everyone for joining; especially chad and lee!
  561. (08:33:50) flesk: Thanks for joining LeePetty and DF_Chad.
  562. (08:33:51) SirSlade: Have fun DF_Chad
  563. (08:33:56) Cheeseness: Thanks for making such a charming game :D
  564. (08:33:58) SirSlade: Thanks for joining us both of you
  565. (08:34:07) DarthBo [Mibbit@hide-1F6430FD.access.telenet.be] entered the room.
  566. (08:34:17) BadAsp: Thanks Lee and Chad!
  567. (08:34:26) SheMightBeMarykate: Just a notion/flavor... Artistic license. :) It is distinctive in echoing certain familiar/iconic references.
  568. (08:34:27) Permafry42: Thanks so much for making a fantastic puzzle adventure game!
  569. (08:34:33) flesk: liorean: Yeah, that's probably better. ;)
  570. (08:34:47) DF_Chad: thanks for the showing the game. it was an awesome project to work on.
  571. (08:34:49) flesk: Stacking is pretty awesome. Wish there were more games like it.
  572. (08:35:10) LeePetty: Maybe someday, Chad and I will get to make another game together!
  573. (08:35:26) flesk: That would be great, LeePetty.
  574. (08:35:33) Permafry42: Also out of curiosity how many here have played papo y yo before?
  575. (08:35:44) liorean: You guys are as a studio getting close to the end of quite a few projects right now, aren't you?
  576. (08:35:54) Cheeseness: If you're keen to join us when we do the DLC, we'll totally let you know
  577. (08:35:57) LeePetty: Yea, we got a bunch wrapping up
  578. (08:36:00) SheMightBeMarykate: Stacking is a gem. ...I'd love to see another game like it with that kind of charm, creativity and layering.
  579. (08:36:15) flesk: Permafry42: I keep meaning to play that, but it's not in my Steam library so I keep forgetting. :-/
  580. (08:36:17) Cheeseness: It must feel odd to have so many projects wrapping up around the same time
  581. (08:36:26) liorean: So we might see a bunch of new projects coming about?
  582. (08:36:42) LeePetty: Yup
  583. (08:36:46) SheMightBeMarykate: My x
  584. (08:36:53) liorean: Looking forward to it
  585. (08:36:54) Permafry42: Yeah we're definetely going to try to do the dlc when we get the time. Also +1 vote for either a stacking dlc or another game =D
  586. (08:37:04) Permafry42: "Stacking 2: the hobo wars"
  587. (08:37:05) SheMightBeMarykate: My Xbox One wants some Double Fine... :)
  588. (08:37:25) LeePetty: Well costume quest 2 hits next week on Xbox One
  589. (08:37:38) SheMightBeMarykate: <3
  590. (08:37:46) BadAsp: In addition to Grim Fandango, Lee, will we be expecting something else adventure gamers have asked for?
  591. (08:37:56) SheMightBeMarykate: I saw the Gallbladder tweet about that.
  592. (08:37:59) Permafry42: Btw looking forwards to cq2 this week for pc =D hopefully some time down the road we'll end up doing it as well
  593. (08:38:02) LeePetty: World peace?
  594. (08:38:10) Cheeseness: Woo, world peace!
  595. (08:38:15) SheMightBeMarykate: ...Types so well for a Gallbladder.
  596. (08:38:17) BadAsp: Yes, that would be nice
  597. (08:38:18) liorean: CQ2 soon, then we'll have MC backer's preview beta, then SBDF9 1.0
  598. (08:38:27) Cheeseness: Next game will be a gallbladder action adventure
  599. (08:38:39) liorean: This month is full of DF stuff
  600. (08:38:40) LeePetty: PLUS THERE ARE SECRETS
  601. (08:38:42) SheMightBeMarykate: Can't wait for CQ2 ... Very excited :D
  602. (08:38:44) Cheeseness: SECRETS
  603. (08:38:44) LeePetty: But I will so NO more
  604. (08:38:49) LeePetty: say no more
  605. (08:38:53) LeePetty: christ, I can't type today
  606. (08:39:00) Cheeseness: Say no more, say no more, say no more
  607. (08:39:07) LeePetty: Nudge nudge
  608. (08:39:09) Cheeseness: A nod's as good as a wink to a blind bat
  609. (08:39:15) SheMightBeMarykate: wink wink
  610. (08:39:27) SheMightBeMarykate: she asked him knowingly
  611. (08:39:33) Permafry42: Oh yeah if anyone here plays the 3ds version of smash bros, please hit me up on the forums and add me so we can play online some time. Really like that game
  612. (08:39:41) LeePetty: My daughter just came into my studio and I asked if I was done "interviewing people" yet
  613. (08:39:46) Cheeseness: :D
  614. (08:39:47) ***SheMightBeMarykate knows Python
  615. (08:40:02) Permafry42: awwwwwhh =D
  616. (08:40:04) LeePetty: Then she looked at all of my Pettyland art on the wall and said "Are you going to publish that? People would like it. If they are goths and stuff"
  617. (08:40:05) SheMightBeMarykate: Awww :)
  618. (08:40:17) ***liorean knows a friend hos has a Python
  619. (08:40:28) Cheeseness: Oh, we didn't talk about Pettyland at all during the interview
  620. (08:40:30) liorean: s/hos/who/
  621. (08:40:46) LeePetty: Oh yea, well its not a videogame
  622. (08:41:16) SheMightBeMarykate: ..."goths and stuff" lol
  623. (08:41:38) Cheeseness: It was on my notes to bring up
  624. (08:42:12) LeePetty: I must've distracted you by my profound use of the word "umm"
  625. (08:42:51) Cheeseness: It'll be interesting to see how people feel about Massive Chalice wrapping up. Those of us who've been supporting and following the project will have to deal with the process being over. I'm not sure that all the backers will be prepared for that (same will go for Broken Age, but that feels farther off)
  626. (08:43:10) SheMightBeMarykate: We're all descended from those people who lived in the time before color happened... Parallel evolution to the Homo gothus.
  627. (08:43:13) Cheeseness: Nothing wrong with a few good "umms" :D
  628. (08:43:21) LeePetty: I will probably just be glad to be off camera
  629. (08:43:30) LeePetty: There's nothing worse than watching yourself on camera
  630. (08:43:41) LeePetty: or listening to yourself
  631. (08:43:42) LeePetty: really
  632. (08:43:43) SheMightBeMarykate: Umm is like Yum ...without bothering about Y
  633. (08:43:51) liorean: So, you don't think you'll end up on camera shortly again=?
  634. (08:43:52) Cheeseness: I know my voice sure sounds a hell of a lot better on the inside
  635. (08:43:59) Cheeseness: Listening to recordings is a bit cringeworthy
  636. (08:44:01) SheMightBeMarykate: ...(I just made that up.)
  637. (08:44:02) Permafry42: speaking of camera's, any word on when another dfa backer episode will be released?
  638. (08:44:12) LeePetty: Soon!
  639. (08:44:26) flesk: How old is your daughter, LeePetty?
  640. (08:44:39) LeePetty: My daughter is 9
  641. (08:44:46) LeePetty: Pretty soon, I will no longer be cool to her
  642. (08:44:46) Cheeseness: Permafry42: If you haven't seen it, Asif gave a bit of a status summary in the forums
  643. (08:44:56) flesk: Aww. :(
  644. (08:44:57) flesk: You
  645. (08:45:00) beansmyname left the room (gone baby gone).
  646. (08:45:03) Cheeseness: Maybe she'll become a goth and get into Pettyland
  647. (08:45:04) LeePetty: But, I did get her art in both Stacking and Gone Home, so she OWES ME!
  648. (08:45:05) LeePetty: haha
  649. (08:45:06) flesk: You'll still be cool to us though.
  650. (08:45:19) BadAsp: She's so cute
  651. (08:45:23) LeePetty: Well, I was a PUNK growing up, so if she's a GOTH I'm ok with that
  652. (08:45:35) LeePetty: as long as she hates authority in her formative years as much as I did
  653. (08:45:39) LeePetty: wait...that means me
  654. (08:45:40) LeePetty: hmm
  655. (08:45:41) Cheeseness: :D
  656. (08:45:46) Ilya[Linux]: xD
  657. (08:45:50) BadAsp: XD
  658. (08:45:53) flesk: LeePetty: Oh, she made some of the drawings in Gone Home? That's pretty cool.
  659. (08:46:06) SheMightBeMarykate: :)
  660. (08:46:08) LeePetty: yea, flesk, she and I both did a little art for that game
  661. (08:46:15) SheMightBeMarykate: ...She's close in age to my little girl.
  662. (08:46:36) flesk: LeePetty: Yeah, I remember recognizing both you and Chris Remo in the credits.
  663. (08:46:54) flesk: And some more people I think, but I've forgotten who. Maybe not Double Fine people.
  664. (08:47:10) LeePetty: Yea, I don't think any other DF'ers...
  665. (08:47:36) SheMightBeMarykate: I have to surrender the computer to her in a moment... Homework means computer now--online textbooks.
  666. (08:47:41) LeePetty: I've sketching Autonomous stuff this whole time (not that we're making it. We're not)
  667. (08:47:52) LeePetty: oh yea, MaryKate, I know that
  668. (08:48:13) Cheeseness: Full game or not, Autonomous is still pretty cool looking. It'd totally be drawing it too
  669. (08:48:37) Permafry42: Thanks again for joining us Lee!
  670. (08:48:38) LeePetty: My problem is I have too many things going on at the same time so I never finish them all
  671. (08:48:48) LeePetty: Ok, guys, I really should go
  672. (08:48:55) LeePetty: Thanks again for playing the game and keeping me employed :)
  673. (08:48:57) Cheeseness: Alrighty. Thanks so much again for joining us, LeePetty
  674. (08:48:59) flesk: JP got a special thanks in the credits for Gone Home.
  675. (08:49:12) SheMightBeMarykate: <3
  676. (08:49:16) flesk: Thanks for coming, LeePetty.
  677. (08:49:29) flesk: You're welcome back anytime you feel like it. ;)
  678. (08:49:37) LeePetty: Some day I'll get that Mermaid to you, Marykate
  679. (08:49:45) SheMightBeMarykate: I've gotta go... Computer usurper is here.
  680. (08:49:51) flesk: Jake Rodkin is listed as web designer.
  681. (08:49:56) Cheeseness: Have fun, Marykate. Thanks for coming!
  682. (08:49:58) LeePetty: Bye!
  683. (08:50:00) SheMightBeMarykate: ..Okay, Lee.
  684. (08:50:02) SheMightBeMarykate: <3
  685. (08:50:03) LeePetty left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  686. (08:50:08) SheMightBeMarykate left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  687. (08:50:18) Permafry42: going to go get some lunch now. Cya next week guys!
  688. (08:50:22) Cheeseness: Thanks for coming, Permafry42
  689. (08:50:39) Cheeseness: DF_Chad: By the way, I voted for Parabola!
  690. (08:50:39) flesk: Jonathan Blow got special thanks too. I guess it could be they're just thanking people who inspired them in some capacity.
  691. (08:50:46) Cheeseness: Err, Parabolic
  692. (08:50:51) Permafry42: Also be sure to play Papo Y Yo before next week since the game is completely different to watch compared to playing it
  693. (08:50:52) flesk: Oh, and Sean Vanaman.
  694. (08:51:07) liorean: Papo & Yo downloading right now :)
  695. (08:51:16) flesk: And Will Armstrong (also TTG).
  696. flesk flesk_
  697. flesk flesk_
  698. (08:51:25) Permafry42: Nice Liorean!
  699. (08:51:26) flesk: I guess those were the names I were thinking of.
  700. (08:51:33) flesk: liorean: Nice. :)
  701. (08:51:56) Permafry42: Anyway cya everyone!
  702. (08:52:05) BadAsp: And as long as I'm here, there's something I'd like to talk about
  703. (08:52:08) Permafry42 left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  704. (08:52:14) flesk: I hope they put the Linux version up on Steam someday. That way I might remember that it's a game I've been meaning to play at least.
  705. (08:52:15) Cheeseness: flesk: I suspect that what you're seeing is the Idle Thumbs community's overlap with other studios
  706. (08:52:33) BadAsp: Something that died this week
  707. (08:52:34) flesk: Ah, yeah. That would explain it.
  708. (08:52:54) Cheeseness: That's a guess though ^_^
  709. (08:53:15) BadAsp: Would you like to guess what it is?
  710. (08:53:15) Cheeseness: Alrighty, I'll wrap up the chat log here
  711. (08:53:23) Cheeseness: Don't forget to leave an opinion on Stacking in the forum thread http://www.doublefine.com/forums/viewthread/14908/
