  1. It was early in the morning, blistering cold. I was woken suddenly and heard screaming. I got to the deck and they said they were going home. I got thrown over. There were 9 other men. We were in the boat but found land quickly and that's where I am at now. First we needed wood. We walked for awhile then found trees and started cutting the trees down. After we had the wood cut we immediately went hunting. We killed a reindeer then took it back to camp. The rest of the day was pretty normal. We traveled for a long time. We went to sleep. I woke up because of noises. It was a pack of wolves. They were growling at us. We soon learned that they wanted the leftover reindeer… Not us. They ripped through all of our camping supplies as all of us laid down silent. The wolves left but we had nothing left. Nothing to hunt keep us warm just the clothes on our back. The next day we found an Indian tribe, We identified them has the Swampy Cree. We didn't stick around for a long time. They seemed very aggressive and we all felt threaten. The night we left was horribly cold. Our mathematician died. He was one of the most important guys. Many others got hypothermia. We were all very weak and spirits were broken. We tried to go hunting one last time and failed horribly. We didn't have anything. No clothes, no food, no guns, nothing. 2 more men died that night. There was only 6 men and me left. The friction was building up between us and the Indian tribe. They ambushed us. Killed 3 more and one of them was Hudson’s son. He was torn. I didn't know what to do. There was only 4 of us. The next couple days went past normal. We managed to kill a deer and get some fire wood. We decided to travel north to see if we couldn't find another tribe that we didn't have any tension with. While we were traveling north a huge thunderstorm hit. It was hailing terribly and thunder was coming down everywhere. We were not injured much just bruises. We continued north. We all were determined to get there. The next night it hailed and rained again but this time a lot worse. Next Hudson died. There was only 3 of us left. That night didn't rain or hail but we all had wet clothes. So we were froze. That had to be the worst night of my life. Not because I was cold but because one more man died. I didn't know what to do. But what I did know that if Henry was still alive in my position he wouldn't give up. So I tried to serve him. I got up and walked. I must've walked for 3 days straight. I was out of everything. I knew I was on the verge of dying. I knew I couldn't stop though. If I stopped I wouldn't have a chance at all. The last crewman was still hanging in as well, but I could tell that he was getting weak and starting to give up. If I kept walking I had a chance. Eventually I saw a few men. I went up and asked who they were. They were scared of us I do not know why. They led me back to there camp. They were on a hunting trip. The camp had 2 tents. When I got to the village they had a fire, but it was not burning. They also had another man watching it. They asked questions like where were we from we had trouble understanding them. They eventually took me to there village. There was 5 men and a lot of woman, with some children. They fed us and gave me water. They said I could stay them if I could prove myself valuable. The next day I went hunting with them and shot a deer. It was a nice one to. They were grateful for it and helped me out more and showed me there way of living. They were impressed and took me in. I eventually got married to one of the females and have never left the village since. Life is pretty normal with them. We hunt during the summer to get ready for the winter and constantly move. It was a lot different then it was in Europe but I honestly liked it.
