1. Game 1: Chaos on Deponia - started on 28.12.2014, finished on 01.01.2015 (9 hours)
2. # Massive improvement over the first game, an actually decent point and click adventure game, some nonsensical puzzles notwithstanding
3.
4. Game 2: Goodbye Deponia - started on 01.01.2015, finished on 05.01.2015 (10 hours)
5. # Decent game overall, but some sections crossed the line when it came to good taste. I can watch South Park without batting an eye, but the pedophile or slavery parts made me queasy.
6.
7. Game 3: Phenomeno: Mitsurugi Yoishi wa Kowagaranai - started on 05.01.2015, finished on 06.01.2015 (2 hours)
8. # Nice short ghost story, almost felt like a beginning episode of some occult anime. Lovely artwork, great music. Pity about the typos though.
9.
10. Game 4: Digital: A Love Story - started on 06.01.2015, finished on 06.01.2015 (2 hours)
11. # Lovely and sweet prequel story to Analogue, really need to read more of Christine Love's work.
12.
13. Game 5: don't take it personally, babe, it just ain't your story - started on 06.01.2015, finished on 07.01.2015 (4 hours)
14. # High school romance the game. Or alternatively not so subtle gay agenda the game. Not to sound bigoted, but I really wish the only hetero relationship the girl allowed wouldn't involve a 16 year old girl and a 40 year old man. >_<
15.
16. Game 6: Hate Plus - started on 08.01.2015, finished on 10.01.2015 (6:38)
17. # Great sequel (prequel?) to Analogue: A Hate Story. Amazingly written, really good political sci-fi story. Only thing I'd like changed is the totally reused music from the first game - some new tracks would be appreciated.
18.
19. Game 7: Cognition: An Erica Reed Thriller - started on 08.01.2015, finished on 14.01.2015 (5:53+3:42+5:19+3:48: Total of 18:42)
20. # Full runthrough with developer's commentary. Can't say I find the game all that enjoyable. Mediocre writing, lots of annoying glitches, plain bad character models. No subtitles for the dev commentary as well, and the owner of the studio had a very annoying accent so it was a struggle to understand much of what he was saying. Episode 3 stands out way above the series, pity the payoff was so mediocre - you really shouldn't just switch from an adventure game to Telltale game at the last episode.
21.
22. Game 8: They Breathe - started on 14.01.2015, finished on 14.01.2015 (0:26)
23. # The moment when you realize
what the Moose enemies consist of...
Really nice short horror story. Game wasn't terrible or anything, but also nothing to write poems about. On to something meatier.
24.
25. Game 9: Alice: Madness Returns - started on 14.01.2015, finished on 21.01.2015 (11:44)
26. # Mediocre all around apart from art design. Much too long as well, game run out of steam after the first two world. Minigames were annoying, combat was too frequent and never satisfying, platforming okay-ish. Lovely hand-drawn cutscenes. Also, game was buggy as hell - that was my third try to play it, former two fell victim to various unpatched bugs the PC version has. Glad to be done with it.
27.
28. Game 10: Umineko no Naku Koro ni Chiru: End of the Golden Witch - started on 14.01.2015, finished on 24.01.2015 (16 hours)
29. # Just an amazing ride. Takes everything previous 4 episodes made and deconstructs it thoroughly. Can't wait for the 6th game.
30.
31. Game 11: The Old Tree - started on 27.01.2015, finished on 27.01.2015 (0:13)
32. # Short flash adventure game. Beautiful artwork, nice music. Cute distraction. :)
33.
34. Game 12: Umineko no Naku Koro ni Chiru: Dawn of the Golden Witch - started on 24.01.2015, finished on 03.02.2015 (16 hours)
35. # Even better that the previous one. The moment you 'get' the truth about the trick... Priceless. On to game 7.
36.
37. Game 13: Picross NP Vol. 1 - started on 25.01.2015, finished on 04.02.2015 (11:26)
38. # While the interface leaves something to be desired, compared with DS implementations (both Hudson's and Nintendo's), the puzzles are great as per usual with Nintendo.
39.
40. Game 14: Umineko no Naku Koro ni Chiru: Requiem of the Golden Witch - started on 03.02.2015, finished on 11.02.2015 (15.5 hours)
41. # The actual episode was a bit toned down, but the Tea Party was simply mindblowing. On to game 8.
42.
43. Game 15: Picross NP Vol. 2 - started on 04.02.2015, finished on 14.02.2015 (12:58)
44. # One of the Extra puzzles took two hours to solve. Two freaking hours of a mere 20x20 puzzle. Otherwise, more of the same (not that that's a bad thing, of course).
45.
46. Game 16: Puzzler World - started on 16.02.2015, finished on 18.02.2015 (4:55)
47. # Absolutely terrible all around, extremely easy puzzles (and 'puzzles'), bad interface for the one and only puzzle type that interested me (Link-a-Pix)... Didn't even try to go for 100%, just got all the achievements... Do avoid.
48.
49. Game 17: To The Moon: SigCorp Minisode 2 - started on 18.02.2015, finished on 18.02.2015 (0:27)
50. # Kan Gao, you are such a tease. That last scene... Wonder if there will be Minisode 3, or just To The Moon 2...
51.
52. Game 18: Umineko no Naku Koro ni Chiru: Twilight of the Golden Witch - started on 11.02.2015, finished on 21.02.2015 (16 hours)
53. # Umineko is pretty much the best thing I've read on a computer. The PS3 voice patch adds so much to the game as well. Highly recommended and well worth it, if you can spare 120 hours of your life.
54.
55. Game 19: The Wolf Among Us - started on 21.02.2015, finished on 22.02.2015 (8:13)
56. # Well, it certainly looked great. Bit too short for its own good though - a lot of plot threads get unresolved. Other than that, typical Telltale post-JP fare. Cutscenes, QTEs and some choices without actual consequences.
57.
58. Game 20: The Walking Dead Season 2 - started on 22.02.2015, finished on 24.02.2015 (8:36)
59. # Much weaker than the first season, Clem is just not as good a protagonist as Lee was. Still enjoyable, although I really don't know what inevitable Season 3 can do to keep my interest.
60.
61. Game 21: Hexcells Infinite - started on 24.02.2015, finished on 27.02.2015 (13:03)
62. # That 6-5 puzzle, that 6-5 puzzle indeed. I think I ODed on Hexcells, couldn't really be arsed to play the random gen puzzles after the main campaign. Still a great game.
63.
64. Game 22: Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals - started on 15.01.2015, finished on 28.02.2015 (19:00)
65. # Didn't tackle the Ancient Cave mode at all, so I won't complain about lack of difficulty. Great game, one of the best SNES RPGs, and that's telling something. I wish more jRPGs would use puzzles in dungeons, they added so much here. Visible enemies as well. Oh, and the game had the perfect length, long enough to feel like a journey and short enough not to bore with itself. Highly recommended.
66.
67. Game 23: A Bird Story - started on 01.03.2015, finished on 01.03.2015 (1:07)
68. # Shortish side story to To The Moon. Not much else to talk about it, didn't do much for me I'm afraid. Lovely music though.
69.
70. Game 24: Machinarium - started on 01.03.2015, finished on 01.03.2015 (3:15)
71. # Once more with a feeling - amazing artwork, lovely music, not much story to talk about and some really annoying puzzles (some good ones as well, but few and far between the bad). Pretty much an indie adventure game in a nutshell. The backgrounds were amazing though, no doubts about it.
72.
73. Game 25: Grim Fandango - started on 01.03.2015, finished on 04.03.2015 (8:30)
74. # Great story, bad puzzles and... well... looking at the concept art, I wish the game would have stayed 2D. Those early renders have not aged particularly well...
75.
76. Game 26: Year Walk - started on 05.03.2015, finished on 05.03.2015 (1:27)
77. # Is this one of those multimedia experiences everyone with a smartphone keeps talking about? I... Well, I enjoyed it, true. Especially the true route. Doesn't hold a candle to a proper VN though.
78.
79. Game 27: Hatoful Boyfriend: Holiday Star - started on 06.03.2015, finished on 08.03.2015 (3:30)
80. # Lovely side story to the original Hatoful Boyfriend. It was nice seeing the alternative universe, where
Hiyoko didn't get brutally murdered
81.
82. Game 28: Picross NP Vol. 3 - started on 22.02.2015, finished on 13.03.2015 (10:36)
83. # Either I got lucky or more skillful at solving puzzles or Nintendo finally didn't put any unsolvable puzzles here. Either way, more Picross!
84.
85. Game 29: Hitman: Absolution - started on 24.02.2015, finished on 14.03.2015 (12:16)
86. # Really fun game the minute you stop playing as a stealth game and instead opt for the World Clumsiest Assassin title. Smooth as butter and great looking to boot. Ouch on the HDD requirements though...
87.
88. Game 30: The Book of Unwritten Tales - started on 06.03.2015, finished on 15.03.2015 (12:50)
89. # Not sure what to make of this one - nothing groundbreaking, some nice backgrounds here and there, passable voice acting, some mediocre puzzles, but not much that offended. But the ending was definitely rushed, and the concept art shown at the credits movie was better than anything in proper game by orders of magnitude. Absolutely unfunny as well, might just be that German 'humor' is not compatible with me...
90.
91. Game 31: Portal 2 - started on 16.03.2015, finished on 18.03.2015 (6:53)
92. # Bit too much story when compared to the first part, Source was showing its age, especially with constant load screens. Still one of the best puzzle games out there. Highly recommended.
93.
94. Game 32: Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition - started on 14.03.2015, finished on 23.03.2015 (12:47)
95. # Loved just about every second of the game. Almost 100% it, couldn't be bothered to get all gold medals in the Infierno challenges (since they are Nintendo-hard, as opposed to most of the game). Highly recommended to just about anyone.
96.
97. Game 33: The Last Door CE - started on 23.03.2015, finished on 23.03.2015 (3:20)
98. # Game certainly got spooky at times. The low-res graphics took a bit of time to get used to, but I can't dispute a certain level of finesse required for them to work. Pretty fun bite-size game, pity it's unfinished as of now. :\
99.
100. Game 34: You Have to Win the Game - started on 24.03.2015, finished on 24.03.2015 (1:17)
101. # The game was definitely missing some music. Some of the achievements sound like a masochist's dream (given I died ~400 timed during my run, the #YOLO one seems way out of reach). Definitely a nice free metroidvania title.
102.
103. Game 35: Gunman Clive - started on 25.03.2015, finished on 25.03.2015 (1:33)
104. # This could pretty much be called a Mega Man clone. Bit wonky physics here and there (the springboards), and a bit on the short side - I completed all three campaigns. The duck one was interesting, requiring some thought here and there. Overall a nice way to spend some time.
105.
106. Game 36: Fork Parker's Holiday Profit Hike - started on 25.03.2015, finished on 25.03.2015 (2:12)
107. # This game... This bloody game. This was everything one would want from a masocore platformer. Not long enough to annoy, not difficult enough to turn people off. Clearing that last section was such an amazing adrenaline rush... I wish all games were this good.
108.
109. Game 37: Noitu Love 2 Devolution - started on 26.03.2015, finished on 27.03.2015 (1:14)
110. # Is this the prettiest indie game out there or what? Seriously, the animation, backgrounds, explosions and just general feel were amazing. Length was okay as well, not too long to run out of ideas. Just a great arcade-like game. Highly recommended!
111.
112. Game 38: Nelly Cootalot: Spoonbeaks Ahoy! - started on 27.03.2015, finished on 28.03.2015 (1:29)
113. # Cute in a nutshell. Lovely artwork, funny dialogue, some good puzzles here and there. Points down for MIDI music and lack of voices, but hey, not that much - free is free (is free).
114.
115. Game 39: SteamWorld Dig - started on 28.03.2015, finished on 28.03.2015 (6:08)
116. # Really amazing package. I may have a soft spot for metroidvania titles, but this was just a great game. And despite the levels being just long shafts, the actual level design, or more specifically, placement of the gems, was nothing short of amazing. Looking forward to SteamWorld Heist, whenever that comes out...
117.
118. Game 40: Valiant Hearts: The Great War - started on 29.03.2015, finished on 30.03.2015 (6:07)
119. # Visually pretty much the pretties game I played this year. Gameplay-wise though... Not sure what to make of it, seemed more like a flash adventure game, not really my cup of tea. Looked amazing nevertheless. A good way to spend an evening or two, especially if you're into 2D artwork.
120.
121. Game 41: Saya no Uta - started on 01.04.2015, finished on 04.04.2015 (4:11)
122. # All three endings. Great horror VN, sex scenes were terrible as in all other Japanese games, but I believe they were meant to be terrible. Urobuchi Gen delivers again.
123.
124. Game 42: Without Within - started on 04.04.2015, finished on 04.04.2015 (0:12)
125. # Well, that was pointless. Complete waste of time. Seems like an ideal game for a 52 games/year thread.
126.
127. Game 43: Final Fantasy VI Advance - started on 16.03.2015, finished on 07.04.2015 (25:47)
128. # On one hand, it's evident that this is the moment insultingly easy crapfests like FF7, FF10 and FF13 were conceived. On the other, it's a beautiful game with lovely music, interesting mechanics and a few (albeit simply not enough) meaty dungeons. I just wish it had more gameplay versus story cutscenes.
129.
130. Game 44: Marlow Briggs and The Mask of Death - started on 04.04.2015, finished on 08.04.2015 (6:16)
131. # Best God of War game available on PC. Might also be the best God of War game available everywhere. Wish the later enemies weren't such damage sponges, fights after the possessed varieties started showing up were a tad too long for my taste. Still, best $0.99 you can spend on Steam by a fair margin.
132.
133. Game 45: The Book of Unwritten Tales: Critter Chronicles - started on 08.04.2015, finished on 11.04.2015 (5:55)
134. # Seemed more like a few deleted chapters from the first game than a new entry. With two of the least interesting from the first game. :\ Still not really funny, and full of illogical puzzles. Having the 16:10 aspect ratio forced was also a bummer. Oh well. Done with the series I guess.
135.
136. Game 46: Out There Somewhere - started on 11.04.2015, finished on 11.04.2015 (1:22)
137. # Fun puzzle platformer, such a pity it doesn't allow for post-game map exploration... I've missed quite a few collectibles, and would love to try to get them now, but don't really want to start a completely new game. :\ Nice graphics, if a bit too dark, lovely music, interesting gameplay concept. Recommended.
138.
139. Game 47: Love - started on 11.04.2015, finished on 11.04.2015 (1:14)
140. # Two runs through the normal mode, second one run out of lives on the last jump of the game (arrrghhh), then a full run on easy mode and the remix levels to boot. Byte-size masocore platformer. Great music, fiendish level design, Atari 2600 inspired graphics. Not much else to write about, another YOLO achievement that is pretty much possible only to cyborgs.
141.
142. Game 48: Shatter - started on 11.04.2015, finished on 12.04.2015 (2:51)
143. # Fun arkanoid clone, second only to Breakquest. Absolutely amazing techno music to boot. Boss fights didn't really fit my definition of fun, but I can't deny the tension each of those generated. Worth a play, and definitely worth a listen to!
144.
145. Game 49: Gunpoint - started on 12.04.2015, finished on 13.04.2015 (2:53)
146. # Perfect little game to kill an evening to. Great noir music, really good writing, amusing gameplay mechanics as well. I really do wish the game would work with a gamepad - while jump aiming works well enough with a mouse, the whole moving thing just screams a controller. Doesn't last long enough to get boring and has lots of optional challenges so that people who have way more time than me can keep playing. Recommended.
147.
148. Game 50: Primordia - started on 12.04.2015, finished on 15.04.2015 (5:20)
149. # Simply beautiful. Well designed puzzles with alternative solutions, great writing, bladerunneresque music and jaw-dropping background art. Probably my favorite WadjetEye game by a long margin.
