  1. Through the tinted windows, looking upon the world from the contained vehicle made everything outside look hopelessly dark. The white clouds, the red buildings and the black streets were transformed to appear grey and cold. Ignoring the sun, it would have just been another rainy day back in the office—something vaguely comparative to what home would have been. The Agent's fingers drummed across the armrest, eyes focusing on the outside world as the car moved silently through the streets.
  2.
  3. The Agent's eyes examined everyone who was on the world outside, judging them quietly as car only allowed for a second or two of true examination. The driver who had been quiet until then, permitted his head to briefly glance at the Agent looking outside the window, before he sighed rather audibly. The Agent heard this, but preferred not to heed it—knowing very well it was just an attempt to try to start a conversation.
  4.
  5. With no actual response, the driver finally asked: "So, you're coming all the way from the Capitol to help us with our problem here?"
  6.
  7. "Twelve people were killed." The Agent pointed out.
  8.
  9. "Yeah, I know that. But typically that is the responsibility of the investigation teams. Calling a Juror seems rather unnecessary." The driver replied.
  10.
  11. "You haven't been able to find any substantial evidence to pin suspects, officer. Nonetheless, the Capitol wants an explanation as to why this happened and how it was able to happen. And when the metropolitans fail to supplement this sort of information, it becomes our duty to investigate."
  12.
  13. "Twelve people were killed in a bank, likely because they refused to be hostages for an armed robbery—"
  14.
  15. "The crime started and ended within the span of a minute, and no money was stolen. According to the witnesses, people were selected seemingly out of random and shot for no explicit reason. This wasn't a robbery, it was systematic murder." The Agent interrupted, "It's my job to find out why."
  16.
  17. The car slowed into a stop, the red light suspended above the intersection halting their progress temporarily while cars in the other lane begun to move. The driver scoffed, looking back to the Agent: "So? Robbers might have been spooked when no one cooperated. Shot and realised how much they fucked up. Got there as soon as possible to avoid being tied to the mess."
  18.
  19. "Witnesses stated they burst into the bank, shot and left." The Agent replied. "And even if you could find any evidence to suggest this was a bank robbery gone wrong, who would be the main suspect here?"
  20.
  21. "Obviously the Mafia. And who knows, Agent. Might have been some new guys who thought robbing a bank was just like in the movies."
  22.
  23. "The Mafia manages to get its money through other, more profitable means. And besides, recent smash and suspend operations around the country have proven to eliminate most of their daily operations. Taking a risk like this would be the final nail in the coffin."
  24.
  25. "Must be getting desperate." The driver tried, before the light turned green—allowing the car to move forward. The driver was honked at from behind, and as he placed a foot on the acceleration and muttered quietly: "I'm moving..! Asshole."
  26.
  27. The Agent looked away, ignoring this side comment before replying to the statement made prior: "Hardly. If they had been, they would have actually tried to take some money out of the bank."
  28.
  29. "Like I said, the stupid new kids who only know what to do from watching too many movies. But hopefully if this becomes the new trend, we will have a stream of dumb ass criminals who are easily caught and imprisoned. Makes your job easier, and it sure as hell makes my job easier."
  30.
  31. "Hopefully not. Stupid criminals tend to be the ones who are the most irrational and violent." The Agent replied. "Besides. Where is the thrill of competing against a calculated criminal when their are just simple ones?"
  32.
  33. "You telling me you like this sort of shit?" The driver asked quizzically, "That sounds pretty fucking psychotic to me."
  34.
  35. "I would prefer to work with a job I like, rather than take one that I do not like."
  36.
  37. "Yeah... no offence, but you are a fucking nut. But then again, that is what I should be expecting from the Capitol's Bureaucracy—isn't it?"
  38.
  39. "Are you speaking ill of the Capitol?" The Agent asked, staring at the driver in response to what he had just said. The driver stuttered, "N-no, of course not. Just don't really understand what you are all doing over there when we have problems over here."
  40.
  41. "A minute ago, you didn't even understand why we were trying to help."
  42.
  43. The driver fell silent, turning left down a lower-density street before he adjusted his speed to meet the limit of 30 kilometres per hour. "Yeah, mostly because I thought it wasn't as big enough to attract the Capitol's attention. But now that you put it the way you did, of course I can see why it is necessary for you to be here."
  44.
  45. "Good."
