  1. April 17- Police Station.
  2.
  3. Officer Flores.: “Because no charges were given and Kent is not a minor, we cannot hold you however you must go see a therapist on court orders.”
  4.
  5. There is a piece of paper with a court order in front of MJ. Her eyes skim the words slowly but her brain doesn't seem to be progressing any of it. The headache from the night before is still pounding in her skull.
  6.
  7. MJ Bell: “I understand... Wait... “
  8.
  9. A few words actually progress despite the condition of her head.
  10.
  11. “My mental status? I'm not crazy!”
  12.
  13. Officer Flores: “You beat a man with a plastic pipe. You are lucky that is the only punishment you are receiving.”
  14.
  15. MJ Bell: “Right... I'm sorry...Yeah. This seems fair...”
  16.
  17. She exhales pressing her fingers into her temples to calm her headache. There is no way she can be upset about any of this. Instead of fighting, MJ rests her head against the cool table. The officer rubs the back of his head before he shifts his weight. He checks the clock on the wall then walks over to open up the door.
  18.
  19. Officer Hankers: “You are free to leave.”
  20.
  21. MJ Bell: “Thank you.”
  22.
  23. It takes a little while but soon enough MJ is out of the room wondering down the hall with the court order in her hand. It could be worse. She got off easy. A very familiar figure catches her eye. With his hands stuffed in his jeans and his tall stature it is hard to miss him. Finn is leaned up against the wall chatting with a woman dressed in a very skimpy outfit. When he sees MJ he moves from the wall lifting his hand over his head in a wave.
  24.
  25. Finn Bell: “Hey jail bird.”
  26.
  27. MJ Bell: “Finn!”
  28.
  29. Overwhelming happiness stalls the soreness of the headache and injuries while MJ crushes her brother in a hug. He rubs her back with one arm keeping the other by his side. For a moment MJ is slightly confused to even see her brother here. However, her only call was to her father to tell him what happened. The two stay in the embrace until she releases him.
  30.
  31. Finn Bell: “Wow, it's like you missed me or something.”
  32.
  33. MJ Bell: “Don't joke.”
  34.
  35. It doesn't take long for the two of them to fill out certain paper work then leave the facility. All the while, Finn continues to make jail jokes but MJ is almost too tired to actually laugh. It's comforting to hear his voice and see him again. Nothing is quite refreshing as seeing family after a difficult situation. Once they were inside Finn's old car they seem to skip over the obvious and talk about the upcoming match MJ has.
  36.
  37. Finn Bell: “Damn. A possible title shot. That is big for you.”
  38.
  39. MJ Bell: “Try to not sound so surprised....”
  40.
  41. Finn Bell: “Alright grumpy. So who are you up against?”
  42.
  43. MJ Bell: “Ana Archia and Pryde.”
  44.
  45. Finn Bell: “Right, right. I sort of remember Pryde. Dude in a mask right? Huh, Ana, is that the girl that called you 'momma'?”
  46.
  47. MJ Bell: “Yeah. That would be them.”
  48.
  49. Finn Bell: “Huh-uh. Does she pose any threat in this match or is it smoothing sail as far as she is concerned.”
  50.
  51. MJ Bell: “Honestly, I'm not sure. Ana is still a newbie but she has some skills and like Mel, she has unpredictability on her side. I'm not really nervous about it anymore but I know that I'm going to have to check my footing in the match. It won't be easy...”
  52.
  53. Finn Bell: “Right, does that mean that you are worried about Pryde?”
  54.
  55. MJ Bell: “I wouldn't say that. I know that Pryde is very skillful, intelligent and he has something to prove. Which is dangerous in itself. Lately, I've been debating on whether he is friend or foe or even a concern of mine... You know I don't make assumptions from outside drama but he hurt Kenshin. My judgment on the whole Pryde thing is... clouded right now. Regardless, I can't get too distracted by drama outside the ring with this match.... I can't get distracted with anything not concerning this match.”
  56.
  57. Finn Bell: “I'm glad you figured that out now but it might be a little late. From what I've seen, you've involved yourself in a lot of drama which is what I specifically told you not to do. ”
  58.
  59. MJ Bell: “Yes, I know... The Family has a lot of drama around it. Ian has a lot of drama. I just... I don't know. Anyways, I'm leaving Kenshin to deal with Operation Zero... My focus is on The Family.”
  60.
  61. Finn doesn't comment on this. After a few moments of listening to nothing but radio, the two of them finally discussed what happened. Finn doesn't make a huge reaction or jump on her about being bat-shit crazy, he listens then nods.
  62.
  63. Finn Bell: “Let me get this straight, you beat a guy with a pipe? As far as anger problems go I always knew you'd follow my foot steps.”
  64.
  65. MJ Bell: “Why are you trying to make this sound like a joke? I have to go talk to a therapist now.”
  66.
  67. Finn Bell: “Madeline, everyone handles their anger differently and perhaps for you talking to someone else, honestly and openly, is the key to management. I've had to go to a therapist before. Don't get all defensive over it.”
  68.
  69. MJ Bell: “Yeah, sorry, I'm just tired...”
  70.
  71. MJ props her cheek against her palm before rolling down the window to let in the cool air.
  72.
  73. April 18 – Truth's Psychology Offices
  74.
  75. The waiting room is open, beautiful actually and filled with plants with white furniture. MJ is stiffly sitting in a chair, knees bouncing from nerves while her brother is chatting on his phone with someone. She should be training inside a gym. Should be beating up a punching bag and focusing on her match. Possibly a million things MJ should be doing but instead she is having a panic attack in a counseling office waiting room. This is no big deal. She'll just talk about her feelings then leave, right? A middle aged brown haired woman exits from a small office on the right before she speaks.
  76.
  77. Therapist: “Madeline- June Bell.”
  78.
  79. MJ's headache is back with vengeance but she pushes up to follow the woman into her office. It's spacious with a large tan couch up against a window. A book shelf takes up most of the other wall and next to it is a desk with a name plate on it. Adjacent from the couch are two dark leather chairs. A few plants spot the room.
  80.
  81. Therapist: “Sit anywhere you'd like.”
  82.
  83. MJ tugs at the end of her oversized hoodie before plopping down into the soft couch. Both knees press firmly together her back upright. The woman sits down across with a clipboard resting on her lap. She is younger than MJ thought with a very gentle smile. She sort of reminds the red head of Brianna. The two exchange looks before the woman speaks.
  84.
  85. Doctor Ryan: “My name is Doctor Ryan. Before we start, Madeline-June is your first name correct?”
  86.
  87. MJ Bell: “Ah, yes, I know, it's a weird first name. Uh, please call me MJ.”
  88.
  89. Doctor Ryan: “Of course. Now, do you know why you are here?”
  90.
  91. MJ Bell: “We're suppose to be doing some type of psych examine. I think.”
  92.
  93. Doctor Ryan: “Yes, we are going to be checking for any type of mental conditions. After reading through your file of what we already know about you, this should be painless.”
  94.
  95. MJ chews the inside of her cheek, her eyes glancing around at the brightly painted walls. The room feels too perfect but it's strangely comforting.
  96.
  97. Doctor Ryan: “Now, we are going to start out with simple questions then ease into the tougher ones. What is your favorite color?”
  98.
  99. This question gains a confused look from MJ but she answers with ease.
  100.
  101. MJ Bell: “Orange.”
  102.
  103. Doctor Ryan: “Easy stuff. How many pets do you have?”
  104.
  105. MJ Bell: “None.”
  106.
  107. Doctor Ryan: “Favorite time of day?”
  108.
  109. MJ Bell: Those few hours before sunrise..”
  110.
  111. These easier questions go by rather quickly. Most of them gain a slight smile from MJ and ease her into this whole situation. They range from her family's names, to names of friends, where she works, what she does, her favorite food, and so on. Doctor Ryan seems rather pleased as she jolts down a few things here and there. MJ actually enjoys being able to talk about her friends to someone on the outside. Doctor Ryan happily listens to MJ while she talks about all the girls in 'Team Brianna', Melissa and Kenshin. They continue from the topic.
  112.
  113. Doctor Ryan: “Do you consider yourself an angry person?”
  114.
  115. This one stops the friendliness cold in its tracks. A ball of nerves bubble up in MJ's stomach again. It is so abrupt that the answer seems so unclear again. Is there a wrong way to answer this? Her words jumble in her mouth the spill out into confusion.
  116.
  117. MJ Bell: “I... I don't know. No.... I mean... Maybe....”
  118.
  119. Doctor Ryan: “MJ, try and take this slow. There are no right or wrong answers to these questions. Remember, nothing leaves this room and I'm not here to judge you.”
  120.
  121. MJ Bell: “Right...”
  122.
  123. Her eyes stare down on the swirling design on the carpet. All the blues, whites and gray blend perfectly into one another. Her mind is suddenly swirling around too many topics at once. The drama, the anger, the match with Pryde and Ana. Kenshin... Her eyes widen suddenly as she glances up but Doctor Ryan, who is simply waiting. No judgment... Talking is good... MJ reminds herself.
  124.
  125. Doctor Ryan: “We can skip that one if you want.”
  126.
  127. MJ Bell: “No, it's alright. I'm not an angry person but lately all I feel is angry. After I leave the company of my friends, my anger comes back rushing in. It's like I can't be content unless I'm in the presence of my friends. Some days I stay at the gym hitting a punching bag until the anger is replaced with exhaustion. It's not a smart trade, I know. There are healthier ways of getting rid of anger but in those moments all I want to do is hit something. See, when I was younger, doing something physical helped calm myself down. So i'd go on a really long run until my legs hurt or lift weights. It doesn't seem to help anymore. The only thing I can ever think about is what is wrong. It's becoming more and more stressful.”
  128.
  129. The therapist doesn't comment as her pen clicks against the clip board. She is taking more notes. MJ returns to staring at the floor. Instead of saying anything else on it, Doctor Ryan changes the question.
  130.
  131. Doctor Ryan: “Have you ever thought about harming yourself or others?”
  132.
  133. MJ's eyes scan the carpet trying to find the pattern within all the swirling clothes. Are they circles or just blobs of color thrown together? It is very distracting.
  134.
  135. MJ Bell: “I haven't thought about self harm since I was younger. You know, that dumb phrase that everyone seems to go through when we are foolish teenagers. Hurting other people though? I've thought about that recently... I thought about it when Sean Fuller sent me to the hospital. I wanted to hurt his wife. For a second, I really wanted to bash her head in with a chair just to get back at him for hurting me but I couldn't... When I first planned it out, it seemed so easy to just drop the chair and walk away but when I was there... holding that chair over her head? It took everything in me to not hit her. Doing the right thing shouldn't be so difficult. I shouldn't struggle when faced with it but I have recently. Right now it seems to be a trend in OCW to hurt people. To beat them until they are bloody and unconscious. Some times I wonder if I could ever push myself to that point of harming someone just to make a point. It's like standing over their body makes a person feel powerful but for me? W-when.... when I saw that guy lying in his blood?”
  136.
  137. Both of MJ's hands squeeze her knees, her tilts down while her hair falls like a sunset colored curtain.
  138.
  139. MJ Bell: “I felt sick. I wanted to run as far as I could from the scene. It felt like my skin was crawling but a small part of me... A small disgusting part of me was.... empowered. I wished that guy was another person for a second. I wished that it was Sean. Then when my mind cleared I felt ill again.”
  140.
  141. Doctor Ryan: “Are these thoughts present a lot?”
  142.
  143. MJ Bell: “No... Normally they cycle around whenever something bad occurs...”
  144.
  145. Again, no comments are made. MJ feels revealed by that. Doctor Ryan continues to give MJ very calm and reassuring expressions. Her thoughts circle around when she found Kenshin. In that moment, MJ wanted nothing more than to hunt down the group that hurt him and repay the favor. It took a while for that feeling to fade. Her brows furrow.
  146.
  147. Doctor Ryan: “Would you consider yourself a violent person?”
  148.
  149. For some reason this causes MJ to laugh.
  150.
  151. MJ Bell: “I wouldn't say that but I am a wrestler. Our jobs are violent, they make us battle each other for titles. Sometimes we corner each other with weapons, like chairs, to injury one another. In a sense, we are like warriors, gladiators, fighting for the entertainment for others. I don't know why we find the need to be so violent. Like what Operation Zero did to Kenshin? It felt like senseless violence but the people gave them a reaction. At the same time they made a point. It's the same thing The Family does to intimidate people. Many of us join teams to get a leg up or make friends that serve the same function. Not to say that I use my friends for that reason but... That is sort of what we do for each other. We go to war for one another, in a sense. I've done the something similar recently. Right now I'm on a team with four other females to take down a group called 'The Family'. We all have the same goal which is to beat them and that is it... Sorry that is getting off topic... No, I wouldn't say that I'm a violent person per say but I do violent things almost every Monday.”
  152.
  153. Doctor Ryan: “I see... MJ, In your own opinion why do you believe you hurt that man?”
  154.
  155. MJ Bell: “Honestly? I don't really know. I want to give you the proper answer to that question but I can't even answer it myself. Why'd I hurt that man? I come up blank. Maybe it's because I was so angry with myself, with Fuller, with The Family and with everything else. I wanted something to make that horrible angry gnawing at my stomach to just go away. I needed for that man to be that scapegoat to my rage. When it was happening... I reminded my self of...”
  156.
  157. MJ glances down at her shoes. There is a pause but she continues.
  158.
  159. MJ Bell: “I've been running away from certain things in my past and more recent things. I thought that maybe if I tucked them away then they'd just disappear but things don't work that way. You can't tuck things away in hopes that they'll just go away. I can't keep tucking away my problems away in hopes that one day I'll feel better because I've made myself crazy with stress.”
  160.
  161. Doctor Ryan: “No, unfortunately, for most people that method of 'tucking things away' as you put it, tends to be the reason for psychotic breaks. Now I am not adjusting that you have suddenly gone insane but simply pushed to your limit. Take a boiling pot of water for instance, if the lid is on while the water and heat are too high, it will eventually spill over.”
  162.
  163. MJ nods her head slowly before slumping back against the couch. She is fiddling with the zipper on her jacket. As she pulls it up a 'zzzzshs' sounds then it repeats when she tugs it down.
  164.
  165. MJ Bell: “That makes sense...”
  166.
  167. Doctor Ryan: “Where do you think your anger comes from?”
  168.
  169. MJ Bell: “From frustrations of daily life. Which sounds insane to compared to any normal persons daily stresses. Mine are training for matches, watching my friends get beaten every week, having to fear the insane opponents in OCW and failing to help the people I care about. I chose this life and I wanted it. Fought to get where I am and I don't regret it.“
  170.
  171. MJ glances upwards at the ceiling while the therapist seems to shift in her chair once again. Doctor Ryan moves the clip board on her lap as if she knows that MJ has more to say. Minutes tick by while waiting for the red head to speak again.
  172.
  173. Doctor Ryan: “Do you want to expand on that?”
  174.
  175. MJ Bell: “There isn't much to expand on. When I lay everything out on the table I'm just angry because I'm afraid. It's not like I fear ridiculous things. I still carry guilt from my past mistakes with my brother and I worry about my friends. Most of my concern is with Massacre. Not because my upcoming match between Pryde and Ana but of what could happen outside the ring. ”
  176.
  177. The room grows quiet and MJ's words seem to rattle through the silence. The doctor is busy writing something down on her clip board. With a smile she stands up from the chair leaving the other to stay on the couch. Doctor Ryan is filling something out on her desk before she opens up the drawer.
  178.
  179. Doctor Ryan: “Well, from what I can tell you are not crazy MJ. However, I think some anger and stress management would be helpful. I am not your therapist and cannot order any treatments or groups but I can give you a few suggestions. They are just pamphlets but they do have some helpful ideas.”
  180.
  181. MJ is up from the couch taking a small folded up piece of paper that Doctor Ryan is holding out to her. She scans the title before flipping it open to scan the words. Doctor moves from behind her desk to the door and opens it up.
  182.
  183. MJ Bell: “Thank you.”
  184.
  185. Doctor Ryan: “No problem, and MJ, some unprofessional advice, it wouldn't hurt for you to take a break. Go on vacation, do something wild, kiss a boy, it might help take away the tension if you sway your focus from OCW every once in a while.”
  186.
  187. MJ Bell: “I'll keep that in mind.”
  188.
  189. She replies with a chuckle then walks out. Finn is munching on a bag of chips while flipping through a magazine. He flashes his sister a grin.
  190.
  191. Finn Bell: “So am I ordering a straight jacket?”
  192.
  193. MJ Bell: “Nope. I'm not crazy just very stressed out.”
  194.
  195. Finn Bell: “I could have told you that. Do you feel better after talking to her?”
  196.
  197. MJ Bell: “Mhm, I do actually.”
  198.
  199. The two of them walk out of the building and into the windy parking lot. Finn continues with jabbing jokes in his sisters direction but stops when he takes a close look at his car. Against the dark paint are scratches spelling out the words “Crazy Bitch” across all the doors. Finn curses and scratches at his scalp.
  200.
  201. MJ Bell: “No wonder he didn't press chargers...”
  202.
  203. Finn Bell: “Greeeeat, I just had this car fixed up. This is what my day was missing... Some fucking dumb fuck trying to get revenge. Why do you have to attract shenanigans?”
  204.
  205. MJ Bell: “I don't know why you are complaining. I've learned that crazy runs deep lately. Geez, I'd kill to have a normal week...”
  206.
  207. Finn Bell: “Looks like I'll be in the same boat soon.”
  208.
  209. MJ gives him a shrug before they turn back to the car... Finn unlocks it then begins to check the rest of the vehicle for imperfections. He is busy grumbling and cussing under his breath. His sister is kneeling down running her fingers against the scratches of the car. It could've been worse but it was another set back. MJ shakes her head before pulling out her phone. Looks like she is going to have to deal with the cops again...
