The wide, square platform vibrates slightly on its slanted track as it runs down the side of a steeply sloping cylindrical tunnel, a line of lights affixed to its ceiling the only source of light.

Units 01 and 05 have been held in reserve back in the hangar on the orders of the Commander, presumably in case of further military assault on Arkham. Though it was Dr. Al-Misiri’s specific advisement that Mia be left in reserve...
[2011-07-21 18::22:04] Doink|L: Commander Carter and Dr. Al-Misiri have returned to the bridge, following this new development. The Vice Commander is still in the field, dealing with the aftermath of the morning's fiasco.

[2011-07-21 18::37:57] Doink|L: The elevator begins to accellerate slightly. The tunnel begins to even out, becoming less steep. The walls have changed slightly—instead of metal, they are made of some sort of smooth, seamless stone or concrete with a matte grey surface.

[2011-07-21 18::40:26] Doink|L: Suddenly, the walls disappear. The platform stops flush with a smooth grey floor in the midst of an enormous plane of... nothing. The room is low-ceilinged, only barely high enough for an Eva to stand, and stretches off into the darkness as far as you can see.
[2011-07-21 18::40:50] Doink|L: Lt. Miles: "Keep moving straight ahead. The second elevator is only a hundred yards away."
[2011-07-21 18::42:00] Dmitriy_Platonov: is getting slightly nervous, seeing where Evangelions are heading.

[2011-07-21 18::45:00] Doink: A short distance ahead, you see the first change in the landscape. A perfect circle, wide enough for several Evangelions to stand within it, is inscribed in the formerly seamless floor. At its center is a smaller circle, within which is inscribed a series of unfamiliar symbols.
[2011-07-21 18::45:34] Kazimir_Prochazka: "...you two flank me, and we'll take the targets out one by one. John, you keep them off of Henri while he finishes them off. I'll do my best to lay down suppressive fire and keeping you two alive."
[2011-07-21 18::45:55] Doink: "Jonathan." Carter's speaks up suddenly. "Stand within the center circle when you are ready to descend."
[2011-07-21 18::46:35] Henri_DEllaine: stands to the left of Kaz, spear ready, trying not to seem a little distracted.

[2011-07-21 18::52:35] Doink: As John's Eva steps within the center circle, there is a sudden sound, like metal sliding against metal somewhere underneath you.

[2011-07-21 18::53:28] Doink: Without warning, the ground itself around the outside of the circle folds inward like petals, encasing the trio in grey darkness.

[2011-07-21 18::54:07] Doink: The movement is much smoother than before, but you can tell that it's moving much, much faster.
[2011-07-21 18::55:48] Doink: Dr. Al-Misiri speaks up. "You should arrive just outside the central chamber shortly. From there, John, you will have to direct your transport pod towards the closest choke point marked on your HUD. It should be roughly... three miles from the center."

[2011-07-21 19::00:15] Henri_DEllaine: follows next to John, keeping his eyes out for any enemies.
[2011-07-21 19::00:30] Doink: The "pod" seems to respond to even that act of will. It levels out after a moment, then continues on horizontally for only a few moments before you can feel it begin to slow.

[2011-07-21 19::04:34] Doink: The three Evas are left standing within... another Cylendrical tunnel. This one, though, is without any man-made additions. It is roughly 15 dm wide, the walls perfectly rounded but with a very shallow grade. A series of small, yellowish globes run down it in spiral patterns, casting a sickly yellow-green light over the interior. [2011-07-21 19::05:14] Doink: Your microphones, more sensative than your own ears, have already begun to pick up a skittering noise coming from far down the passageway.

[2011-07-21 19::09:08] Kazimir_Prochazka: moves out in front of the others, pointing his rifles down the center as his shoulder guns open up and ready themselves along the perihperals of the tunnel before turning to the others and jokingly remarking: "Our first catch of the day. Are Captain Ahab and Human Plus ready?"

[2011-07-21 19::11:07] Doink: The Swarm finally comes into view, spiling down the rounded corridor, visible from its blotting out of the small glowing lights in the distance.
[2011-07-21 19::12:47] Kazimir_Prochazka: "...That's...a lot of catch. Let me figure out a firing pattern."
[2011-07-21 19::19:54] John_Kilanger: floats ahead of the group and uses his AT field to neutralize the Swarms. "This should makes things easier for you, Kaz."
[2011-07-21 19::21:36] Henri_DEllaine: follows suit, kicking his jets up to get out of Kaz's line of fire and using his AT field to neutralize whatever John left over.
[2011-07-21 19::23:08] Kazimir_Prochazka: continues to check his sensors and prepares a spread pattern for his chainguns as he speaks: "I almost feel sorry for these things. They don't realize how bad of a place they're in right now. Just...a little closer..."
[2011-07-21 19::24:10] Doink: The Swarm closes in on you rapidly, almost reaching 02 and 03. As it runs, the spawn in the middle cluster together, piling on top of each other in some sort of strange configuration. Suddenly there is a flash of light, and a group of smaller spawn hurtle through the air towards Henri!
[2011-07-21 19::27:08] Henri_DEllaine: The boosters still raring, Unit 03 fully incircles the curve of the top of the tunnel, narrowly dodging the arm of creatures shooting out from the swarm.
[2011-07-21 19::28:37] Doink|L: The spawn impact the wall, exploding into some sort of horrid black goop that hisses against the rounded surface.
[2011-07-21 19::31:26] Kazimir_Prochazka: lets his algorithims go through, and then lets the spinning of his chainguns warm up.
[2011-07-21 19::31:36] Kazimir_Prochazka: "Break off!"
[2011-07-21 19::31:55] Kazimir_Prochazka: then lets his rifles and chainguns fire full force into the swarm, pummeling it with bullets at every angle.
[2011-07-21 19::33:56] Doink|L: The swarm sloughs apart as wave after wave of spawn are torn apart. The remaining stragglers dart backwards quickly, running back up the tunnel the way they came in clusters too small to track.

[2011-07-21 19::35:10] Kazimir_Prochazka: "These things don't even stand a chance in this hallway. No wonder they spared Mia and Ruru from deploying out here."

[2011-07-21 20::37:01] Doink: The swarm continues its approach, lobbing spawn after spawn towards the Evas, but they go wide, striking the tunnel walls.

[2011-07-21 21::23:24] Henri_DEllaine: swoops in clear of John, raking the blade of his spear through the swarm as it glows with a sickly sheen of yellow light before coming to a stop above and behind the cloud of beings.

[2011-07-21 21::40:12] Doink: More of the swarm hurls itself at the source of all those annoying bullets, but they explode harmlessly against 04's AT field.

[2011-07-21 21::41:19] Kazimir_Prochazka: is taken aback at their assault, bracing himself for a hit that never comes. Afterwards, he remarks: "My god, these things do work."

[2011-07-21 21::41:56] Kazimir_Prochazka: "Yeah. Keep her alive. We'll be back up in no time."
[2011-07-21 21::45:01] John_Kilanger: Floats back into the center cirle, and 'drives' the pod back to the elevators.
[2011-07-21 21::47:00] Doink: Further down the tunnel you can hear another skittering sound-- louder this time, almost a rumble. Another swarm is approaching, larger than the last two.
[2011-07-21 21::54:41] Henri_DEllaine: in one final, glowing sweep the remaining bits of the swarm are turned into bits and goop. As he follows through with the spear, Henri side steps and turns the attention of his AT field towards the lumbering cloud coming down the tunnel
[2011-07-21 21::56:16] Doink: The bigger swarm crests the next part of the tunnel. If it was water, it would come up to your eva's waist, but instead its a moving mass of tiny bodies hurtling towards you. They fling themselves towards you as before, many more this time.
[2011-07-21 21::56:37] Kazimir_Prochazka: "...We need more guns."
[2011-07-21 21::57:15] Kazimir_Prochazka: pops open the ports on his evangelion's extranious weapons and points them down the hall.
[2011-07-21 22::07:24] Kazimir_Prochazka: readies all the guns, and unloads not only rifle rounds but numerous missiles into the swarm exploding in a cascade of fire and shrapnal.
[2011-07-21 22::07:48] Kazimir_Prochazka: looks into the cloud of debris and smoke, remarking: "That seemed to be adequate."
[2011-07-21 22::09:14] Doink: The smoke clears. The swarm continues to approach. You can hear the clinking noise of spent ammunition clattering to the smooth stone floor.
[2011-07-21 22::10:22] Kazimir_Prochazka: "...this has never happened before. What the hell. What the HELL."
[2011-07-21 22::10:43] Henri_DEllaine: "I am sincerely worried now"
[2011-07-21 22::16:00] Henri_DEllaine: Unit 03 spreads it's legs out a bit for solidity and braces it's prog spear against the advancing mass.
[2011-07-21 22::18:01] Doink: The swarm, surprisingly, begins to slow almost to a stop, the chittering spawn colliding with each other in their attempts to change direction. Down the tunnel, at the trailing edge of the swarm, as far back as you can see, something else is moving.
[2011-07-21 22::20:54] Doink: Its bloated form moves erratically across the swarm as the spawn hold it aloft, moving it tendril over tendril forwards, many being crushed under its weigth, staining its bulbous, wrinkled skin with black pus. It's mottled, furred in places, so bloated as to be unrecognizeable as any living form but definitely alive in some horrible way.
