[16:34] <@Somber> Krait gives a grateful smile that you approached her.  "Nice to meet you, again.  Sorry for all the... problems of late.  With everything going on, I wanted to have a chance to talk to you before... well... SHE got to you first."
[16:35] * Candlelight_Sonata nods and offers a smile in return.  "Understandable.  Sorry about the delay.  Took us a while to get some traction under us.  You've helped us in the past, suppose it'd only be right to repay the favour."
[16:36] * Harris looks off to where the Barons pony is then back to Krait offering a talon to he "The names Harris, nice to meet you."
[16:36] <Harris> her*
[16:36] <@Somber> She beams a smile at that.  "I'm glad you remembered.  Truly."  She shakes the talon.  "I'm Lieutenant Krait."
[16:38] * Naphtha fidgets a little nervously. "Um. A little surprised you came all the way out here to see us..."
[16:39] <@Somber> "With everything you've been up to, how could I not.  Word is you risked Crossing the silvers to help some folks who needed it.  So now I'm hoping you can help us some more."
[16:40] * Harris gives Krait a nod "And what sort of assistance can we grant the Colonel and you?"
[16:41] <@Somber> "The fact is we've received word that the Baron is sending a large contingent of soldiers to reinforce the town.  Set up an actual base and increase their hold over the community.  We need your help to stop them."
[16:43] * Candlelight_Sonata frowns.  "A large contingent would be rather bad for this town.  Good folks of Costa Del Sol don't deserve that sort of hurt brought down on 'em.  What did you have in mind?"
[16:44] * Naphtha fidgets nervously at the prospect, glancing around worriedly. "W-well I guess..? Th-they do seem pretty obstructive."
[16:44] * Harris looks down to the ground then back to the mare "How big of a contingent are we talking here? As you've seen theres not that meany of us."
[16:44] <@Somber> "It depends how far you're willing to go.  There's a number of people who are trying to remain neutral in this conflict.  We'd like you to persuade them to come to our side.  Their support will go a long way towards preserving the peace."
[16:47] * Harris looks to the batmare and zebra "Thats more of you two's thing. But if there's some thing I could help out with I'll try."
[16:48] * Candlelight_Sonata nods.  "Look, I'd like to help with that, but convincing folks ain't all that easy when you advertise it as feeding folks to the flour mill.  I ain't saying the Baron is good.  Seems he ain't all that bright, and keeps trying to push his own agenda.  But to take to convincing folks of what the Colonel's got is gonna be better..."  She shrugs.
[16:50] <@Somber> "The fact is it's freedom under us or martial law under the baron.  That is this town's future.  The Colonel will not surrender the town without a fight, and I doubt the Baron will leave without a bloody nose at least.  The Colonel believes is rule of the people, by the people, not by tyrants."
[16:51] * Harris looks to Candlelight_Sonata "Then you've not seen how bad the Baron can be." then turns to Krait "I've seen the inside of the silver mines."
[16:52] * Naphtha chews her lower lip nervously. She didn't like this at all.
[16:53] <@Somber> "Impressive that you've escaped.  Yes, the Silvara mines are proof that the Baron has no legitimacy to rule!" Krait says passionately.  "Some day, we hope to free our brothers and sisters in captivity!"
[16:53] <@Somber> We can pay you 200 bone buttons for advocating on our behalf."
[16:57] <@Somber> "If you're willing to speak on our behalf, we can let you in on the next steps to liberating this city."
[16:57] * Candlelight_Sonata cocks her head to the side and raises a hoof.  "Let's not talk pay.  I ain't one to be bought.  I could attempt to talk to folk, see if I could get you some new recruits, but I know a fact that most folks here want to just live like they've been."
[16:59] <@Somber> "The baron isn't going to give them that option.  Costa Del Sol has enjoyed lax attention from the Baron for years.  That is all coming to an end soon." Krait said solemnly.  "If he gets his hoof down now, then it's going to be bloody messy to try and get rid of it later.  Their blood, and ours."
[17:03] * Naphtha fidgets nervously.
[17:03] <Naphtha> "I... Um.. You..." She didn't have much to add it seemed. Or at least not that she felt comfortable saying.
[17:03] * Candlelight_Sonata nuzzles Naphtha.  "What's on your mind, hun?
[17:04] <Harris> "The Baron is half the problem of this island, and he helps keep the other half going as long as they support him."
[17:06] * Naphtha fidgets a few more moments and lowers her voice. "Doesn't... Doesn't the Colonel also buy things from the Silvers who run the mines..?"
[17:07] <@Somber> Krait frowns.  "The silvers are the only ones with the means to aquire war material we need, so yes, we are forced to do business with them.  Once the Baron is broken, the Silvers can be next."
[17:08] * Candlelight_Sonata frowns and thinks a moment. "I need to confer with my friends.  But..."  she trails off. "I like the idea of breaking down the Silvers a touch."
