[b]Who is Tom Scharpling?[/b]

Well if you aren't familliar with him from The Best Show, you might know some of his work as a Writer/Exec Producer on Monk, Writer on Tom Goes to the Mayor, and Writer on Tim And Eric Awesome Show Great Job. He's also working on two as of yet unfinished shows for Comedy Central. He's also directed Music Videos for Ted Leo and the Pharmacists and The New Pornographers.

[b]So what's the Best Show on WFMU?[/b]

It's exactly what the name implies. Airing on Tuesdays from 8pm-11pm EST on WFMU, Three hour music and call in radio show (although the music is removed from the podcast edition for licensing reasons). There are alot of calls from listeners and in-character calls from Superchunk Drummer Jon Wurster, which are always hilarious. He also has had several guests on, I won't list all of them but some of the more frequent ones include Ted Leo, Paul F Tompkins, Zach Galifianakis, and Patton Oswalt.

[b]Okay I've listened to a little bit of TBSOWFMUWTS and what the hell is Newbridge? There's no town in New Jersey called Newbridge![/b]

Newbridge is a fictional town that Tom claims to live in on-air and that most of Wurster's characters are allegedly from. It's most likely based on Woodbridge, which is where Scharpling actually lives. Basically: It's a big running joke just roll with it.
