  1. Hrm. Interesting concept idea: pegasi do actually lay eggs. But only once a year. Unlike Earth Ponies and Unicorns, their estrus cycle isn’t really affected by sunlight: instead, it strikes when this year’s egg is receptive to fertilization. This timing varies quite a bit, and can change through a pegasus’ lifetime… sometimes the egg grows a little quicker, resulting in a second in less than a 12 month period, and sometimes it will take longer, delaying the cycle to as much as 13 months.
  2.
  3. A fertilized egg takes a month or two longer than normal, and hatches almost before it has exited the vaginal canal.
  4.
  5. Having to lay an egg every year, the Pegasi have long mastered the techniques required for Orgasmic Birthing, and pass these on to their fillies consistently without fail, so both fertile and infertile eggs are… very pleasurable to lay. Sadly, despite racial integration since Hearth’s Warming, the pegasi have been unable to convince more than a few earth ponies and unicorns to study their techniques and learn to enjoy the process.
  6.
  7. Unfertilized pegasus eggs are actually considered a delicacy, and are worth quite a pretty penny… comparatively speaking anyway; an ordinary unremarkable pegasus might get enough for a full course meal for one egg, while Spitfire’s are auctioned off for charity, raising millions of bits. Then, of course, some pegasi just cook their own. Though that’s looked at as being kind of weird and even fetishy.
  8.
  9. And now my random headcanon spewing has brought me to a fic idea where Dash has to teach Scootaloo how to do it right because nopony who understands was around to teach her the facts of the pegasus reproductive system.
