Photographic evidence cannot be trusted, especially in today's electronic age‏

Some people believe that pictures cannot be trusted nowadays because anyone can edit them with computer software.

In my opinion, that is not really the truth. While it is correct that there are in fact fake pictures, it is also true that you can tell the most of them apart easily. And even if there are people who are really avid at editing photos to make them look legitimately good or insert things that weren't there in the first place, I believe that an experienced person who looked carefully into it could discern between what is real and what's not.

Then again, I would not say that pictures should not be trusted anymore, but some of the most important or mediatic ones should be definitely doublechecked to make sure that they are legit.

In conclusion, I consider that we are relatively safe as there are still lots of real photos dispersing around the world, but one should be smart enough to doubt about certain ones.‏
