  1. Life is a funny thing when you think about it. It is hard to remember that there are people outside your own circle. Living life the way they have known, their backgrounds and memories all completed just as yours. There are infinite possibilities of lives all around the world at any given moment and they are all living their lives day by day such as you are.
  2.
  3. It is quite incredible really when you think about it, even when you don't think your life is very remarkable at all, it is a single strand that makes up the entirety of life. So in a way you are very remarkable, despite how much you do not think you are at times. Despite what you may think, many people think their lives are unremarkable until they are proven wrong during an important part of their life. And our story takes place in such a moment.
  4.
  5. Little Ramona did not think her life was very remarkable, until the summer of her 10th year of age. In fact, up until then Ramona had very much been displeased with her life. She could remember the stories her mother told her every night, as she got ready for bed. Stories of dashing princes and beautiful princesses, to which she used to happily dream was her life to be. As she grew however, she began to notice that perhaps life was not like a fairy tale at all.

  7. Ramona was as plain as you had ever seen a young girl her age. She was as thin as a rod and as pale as the moon. Her short, wild hair was a muddy dark brown and her eyes she often said looked like dirt, much to the protest of her parents. She would often look in the mirror and pick at her light freckles dusting the bridge of her nose or try and play with her hair only to eventually give up. She certainly did not seem like a hero or princess from her books.

  9. What probably didn’t help with her yearning for adventure was that she lived in the quiet coastal town of Gerton, Maine. Unlike most places you would imagine near the ocean, Gerton was incredibly similar to how its name sounded. It was cloudy, misty, rainy, damp and most of all very unremarkable. The shoreline was not made of smooth sand but instead rocks of various sizes that would hurt your feet should you attempt to walk upon them.
