Are you aware that your recent video about "YouTube changed subscriptions" is filled with bad information? Nothing happened with subscriptions. Everyone is still receiving every video in the Subscription page just like they used to.

The settings you're freaking out over are the mobile/email notification settings. The changes they made were GOOD changes.

Previously there were two options. Off and On. Off was the default option.

Now they've added the Highlights option and made that the new default. Additionally, anyone who was previously set to Off was moved to Highlights. Anyone who had subscriptions turned On was changed to All. (I've seen this with numerous accounts.)

"When you subscribe to a channel, you'll automatically get notifications with highlights of its activity and see any new videos in your Subscriptions feed."

Thank you for the information.

This is exactly what George says in the video. He shows Highlights as the default, and says you need to put it to all to receive notifications for every upload. If you don’t you will only get highlights/miss some uploads.

So the information he gave is not wrong. It goes right along with what you linked and quoted. Watch it again ;)

No, they provided another option for notifications. Subscriptions still work exactly the same.

"Which means we all get less views."

No, we'll actually potentially get MORE views. The default used to be "off". Now the default is "highlights". Anyone who was previously set to "off" is now set to "highlight" and everyone previously set to "on" is now set to "all". How will that lead to LESS views?

"Obviously it's meant to help people get LESS notifications."

But if the old default was "off" and the new default is "highlights", and all of the people who had it set to "on" are now set to "all", that actually sends out MORE notifications.

Care to explain why I'm wrong here? Your viewers are walking away from the video very confused.

Hey John,

I’m not disagreeing with your statements, I was simply pointing out that what you sent in your previous reply was actually exactly what the video was saying.

As I stated previously, tweeting/commenting is where you will get this noticed (by partners and George). Hopefully he will clarify in the next George show.

Obviously you weren't disagree with my statements, I hadn't made them yet. ;-)

I've seriously seen 5 or 6 Reddit posts, almost 10 videos and countless Tweets from people confused by the video. There are a lot of very confused people out there.
