  1. Lord in waiting (technically) Adaliz Suriquardt Locanitte-Fithelorn esquire is the result of a marriage between Breton noblewoman Ronace Locanitte and the Bosmer cattle baron Uungiel Fithhelorn, who dwell in the city of Daggerfall. As the family's fourth son, he would never inherit the family business, and spent most of his days exploring traditional noble pursuits and being educated in the finer aspects of court life. Such an existence was not without issue, however. Under constant pressure from his family to stop lazing about and make something of himself, and suffering the constant barbed insults of his wealthier and more successful peers, Adaliz has decided to venture into Skyrim with the aim of becoming a rich and powerful merchant, or even a politician if he can. But for now he merely wanders the roads, making useful contacts and following merchant caravans in an attempt to make enough money to purchase a patch of land and hopefully begin his rise to power. Of course, given the many mysteries and adventures present in this ancient land, fate may have something else in store for him, but if that is the case he is utterly unprepared and unequipped for it.
  2.
  3. Personality-wise, he's arrogant, inexperienced, lazy, snooty, and demanding, but has the natural monetary cunning of most merchant-born folk. His personality is the result of growing up with a family of borderline sociopaths obsessed with becoming rich as possible while climbing up the social ladder by any means necessary (With one or two exceptions). Underneath his thorny outward persona is an incredibly nervous and inexperienced youth who has little experience with genuine friendship or adventure and is hoping no one will realize that he has no idea what he's doing, as no amount of tutoring lessons could have prepared him for the harshness of the real world.
  4.
  5. Family relations:
  6. Ada's relationship with Uungiel is a tricky thing to describe. You see, he received no physical traits from his father's side, and his blonde hair is the result of recessive genes in his mother's line. With such an unusual appearance compared to his dark brown-haired kin, there have been certain... rumors... regarding his parentage. Because of this his father constantly wavered between constantly educating him on his family history/culture (to the point of instructing him on how to apply the clan markings of the Bosmer side of his family, which Ada wears to this day) and giving him the cold shoulder and a distant, perhaps even bitter stare, vacillating between loathing and then regret once the episode wore off. If you haven't guessed already, Uungiel's ambition is matched only by his insecurity and paranoia.
  7.
  8. His mother on the other hand constantly demanded nothing less than perfection from him in the arts of courtly life, and severely upbraided him whenever he committed any sort of faux pas, be it talking to peasants, using the wrong dinner fork, missing a step in the ballroom, mispronouncing a word, or anything else that made him look anything less than the epitome of nobility. Her other children were not safe from her practice routines and scathing lectures either. Behind Ronace's kind, matronly appearance is a shrewd tactician, always striving to stay one move ahead of her rivals and ensuring her children can be useful in furthering the family's power.
  9.
  10. He managed to coexist with his brothers and sister most of the time, when they weren't teasing him about his general lack of upward mobility. Usually the five of them just kept to themselves unless they went on a family outing, in which case they act every inch the perfect family for as long as they have to. Appearances are everything, after all.
  11.
  12. Children are as follows:
  13.
  14. Tynlest, the eldest son and next in line for the family business. He's even shrewder than Adaliz when it comes to financial management, and could talk his way out of just about anything. He is also incredibly self-centered, ambitious and arrogant, but that seems to run in the family, so no one pays much mind to it. Although, it may be in his best interests to learn when to restrain his temper, lest he make the wrong enemies. His angry fits are legendary amongst the servants and anyone else unfortunate enough to be caught in them.
  15.
  16. Mabrayne, the second child, was being groomed for marriage from almost straight out of the womb, and is every inch the perfect lady. Almost too perfect. Underneath her demure exterior is, well.. nothing much. Beyond her looks and knowledge of etiquette is just another sheltered aristocrat who indulges her fancies and thinks little of the consequences. Luckily, she only needs to not accidentally fall off a bridge or something and net herself a rich suitor, and her purpose for existing will be fulfilled. In the eyes of her parents, anyway.
  17.
  18. Ferrsis, the third child and second son, managed to escape a life of being groomed for marriage by joining the legion as soon as he could, a few months before Adaliz left on his own adventures. Ferrsis was never satisfied with being relegated to nothing more than dowry fodder, and sought the excitement and danger of the battlefield the moment he had a chance. As it stands, he's doing well for himself at the rank of captain. Perhaps he really is a prodigy, or maybe he just greased the right palms. He hasn't yet been in a real battle, so only time will tell.
  19.
  20. Elegvan, the third son, looks the most Bosmer of the entire family, a fact Uungiel is happy to boast about, praising himself for his remarkable virility in creating a child so much like his own species. Whether he had anything to actually do with it or not is undetermined, but what is known is that Elegvan was quick to embrace his role of representing the Fithhelorn side of the family, adopting many traditional Bosmer customs, such as a strict carnivore diet and a healthy respect for nature. However, there are rumors that he indulges himself in the darker aspects of Wood Elf culture behind closed doors...

  22. On his life in Skyrim:
  23.
  24. As it turns out, starting up a business in one of the harshest climates in Tamriel is rather difficult. Our enterprising hero spends most of his time inside the walls of the major cities and traveling only by carriage. His current business is based on hiring adventurers and then selling loot from whatever they kill (keeping a safe distance from the carnage of course) and splitting it with his bodyguard(s). After the loot is split, he goes back to town and sets up shop, putting all his products on display and waiting for customers. This generally lets him make enough to pay for sustenance and a bed at the local inn, but occasionally someone will pay a significant sum for some valuable bauble or animal part, slowly but surely advancing his wealth. Currently he's doing fairly well for himself, and has been crafty enough to avoid the wars that plague Skyrim, but only time will tell if he manages to keep out of trouble indefinitely.
  25. ---------------
  26. On his single experience with heavy combat:
  27.
  28. Adaliz has participated in one major battle, that being the now-famous Siege of Rorikstead. He had been selling his wares to the villagers when word came of a massive Forsworn horde marching on the town, with the intent to seize the area to use as a staging point in their bloody war against the Nords. The nearest Imperial army, numbering seven hundred strong, was rerouted to combat the menace. But the Forsworn forces were estimated to be well over a thousand men, with more coming all the time. The legion would need to hold off the barbarians until reinforcements from the neighboring territories could be brought in. Any man who could wield a weapon was conscripted into the battle, including our own merchant, much to his vocal dismay. Luckily, he was merely given a crossbow and told to stay on one of the ridges near the back of the battlefield. It would seem the gods were on the side of the legion that day, as they managed to set themselves up on the top of a hill minutes before the Forsworn arrived. With a significant terrain advantage, the Imperial archers and battlemages rained fire and arrows on the heads of the charging foe, while the rest of the army held the line halfway down the hill. Ada himself was simply one human in a rank of archers, firing volleys at the command of the supervising commanders. That said, he managed to perform his job adequately, although he felt more than a little annoyed at having to obey the commands of people below him in the social ladder. The battle raged for an entire day, with hundreds dead on both sides. But the legion held. Reduced to a mere hundred men, they lasted through the day and night until a force of one thousand and one hundred men arrived from the northern territories. With their numbers replenished, the legions broke the back of the Forsworn horde, and drove off the scattered remains. With the battle over, Adaliz and the surviving villagers, in addition to the surviving original legionnaires, returned to the town, where they were hailed as heroes by the townsfolk. Ada was just glad the danger was over, but has used this tale multiple times as a means of ingratiating himself with the locals in Legion-held territories, although his own role in the story may occasionally become more important than it was in reality.

  30. On the nature of his timeline:
  31.
  32. By the time Adaliz arrived in Skyrim, the Dragonborn had long since come and gone. Upon arriving in Whiterun and subsequently learning of his abilities, the enigmatic hero cut a bloody swathe through hordes of foes in his quest to defeat the evil dragon, Alduin. No distractions or temptations could sidetrack the singleminded crusader from stopping the end of the world. It was a grueling several months of chaos and upheaval as word spread of a demigod-like madman carving his way through bandit, thalmor, and dragon alike before he finally, through as yet unknown means, appeared above Whiterun, on the back of a great red dragon. He loudly proclaimed he knew the location of the World-Eater and flew off to face the beast in battle. For a full three days, storms covered the sky and lighting flashed across the clouds. Some say that in the brief moments of illumination, one could see titanic figures of man and dragon battling amongst the heavens. And on the fourth day, in one sudden moment, the storms just seem to fade away. And from the now clear sky rode the Dragonborn, returning and triumphant. He would not speak of the details of his experience, only that a terrible battle occurred in which he defeated Alduin. For the next month, he traveled the land, instructing guardsmen and soldiers on the basics of dragonslaying. And he was greatly praised for it too. Despite Alduin's death, dragons continued to plague the land, and do so to this day. Were it not for the Dragonborn's training, the warriors of Skyrim would have had little recourse but to flee in terror. As it stands now, man and mer have a chance to fight back. As for the Dragonborn himself, he was last seen departing for the island of Solstheim, and has not been heard of since.
  33.
  34. That was about a year ago.
  35.
  36. Since then, the world has become far more chaotic, particularly the province of Skyrim. For while the world may have been saved, the civil war continues to rage, and already there are outside forces who seek to claim the province for themselves. The north may soon become a battleground for more than just Nord and Imperial, but only time will tell if one power will unite to rule the province, or if it will all collapse into anarchy.

  45. He's 19 but everyone keeps assuming he's a minor, a fact that aggravates him to no end.
  46.
  47. Likes fiction novels but refuses to admit it because nobles shouldn't give in to such antisocial dalliances.
  48.
  49. When he writes in his journal he likes to pretend he's talking directly to it.
