Introducing Promoted Discovery
A NEW WAY TO INCREASE ENGAGEMENT AND MAKE MONEY FOR YOUR SITE

Disqus is the best way to build an engaged audience for your website. Today, we're excited to make available to you two new ways to make money with Disqus. The first is Promoted Discovery, a new way for your site to increase engagement in relevant content while making money at the same time.

Disqus' Discovery box already helps people discover other interesting stories and conversation happening on your site. For your site, the Discovery box drives real traffic that you can see. The all-new Promoted Discovery works by recommending quality content, through the Discovery box, that your readers — in particular, those engaged in the discussion — may find interesting.

Promoted Discovery content is personalized for your readers based on the current story and discussion on the page — as well as what we think will be most relevant to the reader. These could be articles, blog posts, videos and discussions happening on Disqus.



Promoted Discovery is also the first opportunity for publishers to make money through Disqus. You'll earn money when any of these promoted recommendations are clicked on by your readers. With Promoted Discovery, we'll also make available all of the important tools for you to control your site experience, such as blacklisting certain types of content. The second feature we’re introducing lets you get credit for the traffic you drive to ecommerce sites. If you already do some form of affiliate linking, we do nothing to those existing links. The reader experience will stay the same as this all happens seamlessly behind the scenes. You can learn more by reading this page and you can see your earned revenue here. Revenue share payments will be sent in Q1 of 2013. If you’d rather not try out this feature, you can always turn it off in your settings. This feature is slowly being rolled out to all communities over the course of the next few days.
