- Midwest Speedfest retrospective:
- The event itself:
- It was an awesome event, and my only complaint about it as a whole was more people couldn't or didn't come.
- The good:
- Game selection was very diverse, and several games that I didn't think I would enjoy I thoroughly enjoyed.
- For the most part, we never got too far behind or ahead of schedule.
- Internet was awesome, and aside from us accidentally cutting the stream once towards the end, 0 DROPPED FRAMES FOR THE DURATION.
- 2Dcon.
- :edit: Met a lot of awesome people that I wish I could've spent more time talking to.
- :edit: Extra Life raised over $5000 for Children's Miracle Network. DAMN.
- The bad:
- Don't need to harp on this because we already knew, but the audio setup was not as good as it should have been. Steps are being taken.
- Jubeat was literally right behind the tech setup, or at least the acoustics of the building made it sound that way. The cabinets were about 40 feet away in the hallway, but they always sounded like they were literally right behind the tech setup.
- In the vendor room, I came across one group selling gobs of SNES games and a few N64 games. In the middle of the table, I see a bunch of carts with artwork I hadn't seen before. Upon closer examination, I see that they're rom hacks, all for $40 a pop. Super Metroid: Redesign, Rockman & Forte, FF5 (not the SFC cart, likely the RPGe translation), and Chrono Trigger: Crimson Echoes were among the choices.
- I didn't get any pictures. :(
- :edit: Anti-shoutouts to Sonic Adventure 2's volume.
- :edit: Anti-shoutouts to Megaman X3 for BEING LOUDER THAN Sonic Adventure 2. DIDN'T THINK IT WAS POSSIBLE.
- Looking forward to the next one!
