- >BREAKING: Kim Jong-un to hold bilateral meeting with South Korean President this week
- - NORTH Korean dictator Kim Jong-un is set to meet South Korean President Moon Jae-in for bilateral talks later this week, according to South Korean news agency Yonhap.
- President Jae-in is expected to travel to Pyongyang, North Koreaβs capital, later this week, marking the first time a South Korean leader has done so in 11 years.
- The visit is projected to last three days.
- 2018 has seen a dramatic improvement in relations between the two rivals, and their upcoming meeting will test whether improved relations established at their landmark summit in June can be maintained.
- An aide to the South Korean President said the two leaders will likely hold βpracticalβ discussions from day one of the visit.
- This will be the third meeting between President Moon Jae-in and Kim Jong-un.
- The first and second meetings took place in the border village of Panmunjom on April 27 and May 36.
- Last month President Trump cancelled a planned visit to North Korea by Mike Pompeo, his Secretary of State, claiming North Korea has made insufficient moves towards denuclearisation.
