  6. [18:16:49] <Jekeled> Yes*
  7. [18:16:55] <lurkd> The murder weapon. She examines it closer. Any clues?
  8. [18:17:00] <Jekeled> None.
  9. [18:17:17] <Jekeled> It's just an axe. No nametags or anything on it.

  15. [18:18:25] <Roget> "Alright, so to the other rooms, then? I think this one has been thoroughly inspected."
  16. [18:18:52] <lurkd> "I wonder if there is a tool shed nearby."
  17. [18:19:05] <Roget> "If it's anywhere, it'd be outside."
  18. [18:22:14] <lurkd> "Let's go Ralphie."
  19. [18:22:46] <Roget> "To which room? I think I heard one of them mention a billiard room."
  20. [18:22:47] <lurkd> Elif follows the directions.
  21. [18:22:50] <Echo> Jason maintains his position, keeping a watchful eye on the "detainees."

  25. [18:24:18] <Roget> "Ah, cool beans."
  26. [18:25:27] <Jekeled> They both arrive at the conservatory and walk inside.
  27. [18:25:56] <Jekeled> it's a glass walled and ceilinged place filled with quite a few plants and gardening impliments
  28. [18:26:08] <lurkd> "Hmmmm."
  29. [18:26:13] <Jekeled> And a large, glass cube in the center of the room holding a distressed person in a gardener's outfit.
  30. [18:26:36] <Jekeled> He starts banging ont he side when he sees teh two enter.
  31. [18:26:42] <Jekeled> It's muffled, but audible.
  32. [18:27:34] <lurkd> Elif approaches and puts her hands up to calm him down. "CAN YOU HEAR ME?"
  33. [18:28:04] <Strife> <<On your toes. Weapons free.>>
  34. [18:28:10] <Jekeled> The gardener nods.
  35. [18:28:21] <Jekeled> On the cube, there is a keypad. Covering it is a yellow sticky note.
  36. [18:28:25] <Strife> <<Make sure he doesn't asphyxiate, please.>>
  37. [18:28:35] <lurkd> "TELL ME WHAT HAPPENED." She looks at the note too.
  38. [18:28:59] <Jekeled> The note says:
  39. [18:28:59] <Roget> "Whaaaaaaaat the fuck"
  40. [18:29:32] <Jekeled> "For how many positive two-digit integers is the ones digit greater than twice the tens digit?"
  41. [18:29:34] <Jekeled> a. 16

  43. [18:29:36] <Jekeled> c. 28
  44. [18:29:38] <Jekeled> d. 32
  45. [18:29:55] <Roget> "what's it say?"
  46. [18:29:56] <Jekeled> The keypad is a standard 0-9 job.
  47. [18:30:43] <Jekeled> The gardener does an overexaggerated shrug.
  48. [18:31:34] <lurkd> "It's a math riddle."
  49. [18:31:54] <Roget> "Is the pool giving us math tests now?"

  55. [18:38:03] <lurkd> She types 16.
  56. [18:38:10] <lurkd> *beep* *boop*
  57. [18:38:13] <Jekeled> The keypad dings.
  58. [18:38:29] <Jekeled> One wall of the box opens up.
  59. [18:38:32] <Jekeled> The gardener walks out.

  71. [18:40:30] <Jekeled> "What? Why!"
  72. [18:41:05] <Roget> "You got it, boss." Ralph gets the bailing wire and wraps up the hands tightly.
  73. [18:41:07] <lurkd> "It's for our protection. I got you out, do me the favor of complying. There's been a murder."
  74. [18:41:13] <Jekeled> "WHAT?!
  75. [18:41:23] <Jekeled> "Who? Was it the butler? Did he finally bite the dust?"
  76. [18:44:22] <lurkd> "Smith. There's a bunch of guests downstairs. Any clues would be helpful."
  77. [18:45:18] <Jekeled> "I don't know anything. Like I said, I went to bed last night and woke up in here. There's been nobody in here all day."
  78. [18:45:52] <lurkd> "Why would someone want Smith dead?"
  79. [18:46:04] <Jekeled> "No idea. He's just my boss."
  80. [18:46:04] <lurkd> She holsters her pistol.
  81. [18:46:18] <lurkd> "Alright. Follow us then."
  82. [18:46:26] <Jekeled> He follows.
  83. [18:46:40] <lurkd> She grabs his arm and tows him back to the library where everyone else is at.

  102. [19:07:46] <Jekeled> The nearest doorway is...
  103. [19:08:35] <Jekeled> The billiard room.
  104. [19:08:55] <Jekeled> Who enters the billiard room with Rick?
  105. [19:11:15] <Jekeled> Just rick alone?
  106. [19:11:41] <Strife> If no one else, then Rick would probably enter by his lonesome, rifle up and being quiet and sneaky.
  107. [19:11:56] <Jekeled> Roll agility, Rick

  110. [19:12:37] <Jekeled> The billiard room is pretty stereotypical, as billiard rooms go. Until the billiard balls start spontaneously flying around, that is.
  111. [19:12:51] <Jekeled> Rick isn't fast enough to avoid the run heading straight towards him. Roll pdf.

  115. [19:13:29] <Jekeled> It bounces off Rick's chest. It hurts, but doesn't do any real damage.
  116. [19:13:41] <Strife> Rick backpedals rapidly.
  117. [19:13:54] <Strife> <<Contact, poltergeist.>>
  118. [19:13:54] <Jekeled> As suddenly as the balls started moving, they suddenly stop, falling to the ground.
  119. [19:14:13] <Jekeled> They then start rolling around on the floor...forming a message:
  120. [19:14:17] <lurkd> Elif comes in. "Rick!"
  121. [19:14:27] <Strife> What ball hit him?
  122. [19:14:45] <lurkd> She hustles over to Rick.
  123. [19:14:49] <Jekeled> The 2 ball.
  124. [19:14:50] <lurkd> "You alright?"
  125. [19:15:00] <Jekeled> "An eccentric rotary engine that uses a modified Reuleaux triangle in place of pistons is:"

  130. [19:15:17] <Strife> "Yeah, just be careful if they move again . . ."
  131. [19:15:26] <Strife> " . . ."
  132. [19:15:32] <Strife> "Elif, do you know?"
  133. [19:15:43] <lurkd> "Wankel."
  134. [19:16:00] <Strife> Rick scans the room for traps, or a method to answer the question.
  135. [19:16:15] <Echo> <<Say again your last, over?>>
  136. [19:16:27] <Jekeled> Rick and Elif's vision goes black. They can feel the room, but they cannot see it.
  137. [19:16:39] <lurkd> <<Blackout.>>
  138. [19:16:56] <Jekeled> Instead, they see a fly-on-the wall perspective of the room. In it, they see Kendal practicing trick shots by himself in the room.
  139. [19:17:14] <lurkd> "...."
  140. [19:17:17] <Jekeled> The clock, which is prominently placed in this projection, reads 7:30.
  141. [19:17:24] <Strife> Rick notes as many details as he can about the room, especially the clock.
  142. [19:17:34] <Jekeled> Time speeds up, until the clock reaches 7:45, at which point Kendal rushes from the room.
  143. [19:17:36] <Jekeled> The projection ends.
  144. [19:18:46] <Strife> Rick finds the clock and examines it.
  145. [19:18:55] <lurkd> "That was helpful."
  146. [19:19:20] <Strife> "So it was."
  147. [19:19:43] <Jekeled> Now, roll perception.

  150. [19:21:04] <Jekeled> He sees that the pool table is being supported by a piece of paper wedged under one of the legs.
  151. [19:21:17] <Strife> He checks the table for booby traps.
  152. [19:21:21] <Jekeled> There are none.
  153. [19:21:46] <Strife> He pulls out some string and fishing line and hooks the paper, to pull it out from underneath the table at a safe distance.
  154. [19:22:06] <Jekeled> The table wobbles a bit, and the paper is dragged over.
  155. [19:22:20] <Jekeled> It says: "WATER! WATER! WATER!"
  156. [19:23:32] <Strife> He shows it to Elif.
  157. [19:23:45] <Strife> "You carrying a water bottle?"
  158. [19:26:09] <lurkd> "I'm not."
  159. [19:26:28] <lurkd> Elif looks for a flower vase!
  160. [19:26:38] <Jekeled> There are no sources of water in the room.
  161. [19:27:12] <lurkd> "Shit. Where's the bathroom?"
  162. [19:27:25] <Strife> "Either need to dump this paper in water or check the pool."
  163. [19:27:32] <Strife> "Shall we venture out and find it?"
  164. [19:27:55] <lurkd> "Yes please."
  165. [19:30:58] <Jekeled> Do they venture out and try to find it?
  166. [19:31:18] <lurkd> Yes.
  167. [19:31:29] <Jekeled> They find no pool.
  168. [19:31:36] <Jekeled> They also, strangely, find no bathrooms.
  169. [19:31:45] <lurkd> Elif looks in the next room then.
  170. [19:32:31] <Jekeled> The next room is the ballroom.
  171. [19:33:53] <Jekeled> The ballroom is typical
  172. [19:33:55] <Jekeled> Marble floors
  173. [19:33:57] <Jekeled> Glossy shine
  174. [19:34:00] <Jekeled> Piano in one corner
  175. [19:34:12] <Jekeled> And, in the center of the room...a laptop.
  176. [19:34:52] <Jekeled> On the screen is a password entry thing and this: "The technically brilliant Romantic pianist and composer best known for his Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 is _____:"
  177. [19:34:54] <Jekeled> a. Fredrick Chopin
  178. [19:34:55] <lurkd> "Yay! Tech." She goes over to it.
  179. [19:34:55] <Jekeled> b. Franz Liszt
  180. [19:34:57] <Jekeled> c. Percy Grainger
  181. [19:34:58] <Jekeled> d. Marc Andre Hamelin
  182. [19:35:35] <lurkd> She types 'Franz Liszt'
  183. [19:36:04] <Jekeled> The computer makes a little "bing!'
  184. [19:36:23] <Jekeled> It begins to play a video:
  185. [19:36:40] <Jekeled> The video shows Bixby in the ballroom, playing the piano. It sounds like shit.
  186. [19:37:03] <Jekeled> The timestamp shows 7:30.
  187. [19:37:04] <lurkd> She chuckles.
  188. [19:37:59] <lurkd> How longs does this go for?
  189. [19:38:15] <Jekeled> The length is 14:45
  190. [19:39:01] <Roget> Ralph was there the whole time.
  191. [19:39:47] <Jekeled> Does Elif do anything else with the laptop and vidoe?
  192. [19:39:50] <Jekeled> video*?
  193. [19:40:06] <Strife> "See if there's anything else on there?"
  194. [19:40:12] <Strife> Rick is looking for another note.
  195. [19:40:21] <Jekeled> Everyone roll perception.
  196. [19:40:24] <lurkd> She looks.
  197. [19:40:27] <lurkd> 6df+5
  198. [19:40:27] <Glacon> lurkd: 6 (6df+5=+, -, 0, 0, 0, +)
  199. [19:40:30] <Strife> Or possibly a haunted chandelier.
  200. [19:40:32] <Roget> 6df+7 I see U see
  201. [19:40:33] <Strife> 6df+8
  202. [19:40:33] <Glacon> Roget: I see U see: 10 (6df+7=+, -, +, +, 0, +)
  203. [19:40:33] <Glacon> Strife: 8 (6df+8=0, 0, -, 0, 0, +)
  204. [19:40:58] <Jekeled> Everyone looks up, suddenly. In the chandelier is a square shadow.
  205. [19:41:03] <Jekeled> It probably isn't haunted, though.
  206. [19:41:19] <Roget> Ralph takes a few steps away from the chandelier
  207. [19:42:11] <Strife> Rick steps out from underneath the chandelier.
  208. [19:42:27] <lurkd> Elif steps away and looks.
  209. [19:42:32] <Jekeled> The chandelier remains hanging
  210. [19:43:15] <Jekeled> Nothing changes
  211. [19:43:23] <Roget> "What is that mysterious cubical object?"
  212. [19:45:20] <lurkd> Elif looks for a lowering mechanism.
  213. [19:45:31] <lurkd> Crank, anything...
  214. [19:45:48] <Jekeled> There's no cranks or lowering mechanisms. There is furniture all around the room
  215. [19:46:37] <Strife> Rick starts pushing a chair over
  216. [19:46:50] <Roget> ~I'm gonna live on a mountain of chairs...~ Ralph helps Rick move furniture over
  217. [19:47:42] <lurkd> "We could... shoot it down?"
  218. [19:48:49] <Jekeled> Will they use chair pile or will they shoot it?
  219. [19:49:12] <Echo> <<Hey, y'all, we got a gentleman down here needs to use the facilities. Alice goin' off leaves her alone with a suspect, or maybe someone else we ain't ran into, an' me goin' off leaves her alone with a half dozen plus a potential second party.>>
  220. [19:51:13] <Strife> "Fuckit, I'll climb."
  221. [19:51:22] <Strife> Rick climbs up to get the square shadow.
  222. [19:51:30] <Jekeled> He gets the square shadow.
  223. [19:51:35] <Roget> "I'll catch you if you fall..." Ralph positions himself below Rick
  224. [19:51:39] <Jekeled> It's another folded up piece of paper:
  225. [19:51:47] <Jekeled> The message is: "THEY TOOK MY BLOOD!"
  226. [19:52:06] <Strife> He removes himself from underneath the chandelier and shows the note around.
  227. [19:52:26] <Roget> "..."
  228. [19:52:29] <Roget> "wut"
  229. [19:52:48] <Strife> "Let's head back to the prisoners and reorganize."
  230. [19:53:31] <Jekeled> They all head back to the library?
  231. [19:53:42] <Strife> Sure
  232. [19:53:52] <lurkd> "Um, really?"
  233. [19:54:09] <Jekeled> They all are back at the library (in redpool.)
  234. [20:05:26] <Roget> Ralph descends into the cellar to check on the corpse guys booty
  235. [20:05:40] <Jekeled> It's still dead.
  236. [20:06:29] <Jekeled> Does ralph check i t out?
