  23. Nobody Important (GM): Greetings, everyone.
  24. Bruce: hey
  25. Nobody Important (GM): Still doing prep-work, we have 45 minutes till session start.
  26. (CENSORED).: Aaand it's still showing my real name.
  27. Nobody Important (GM): Clck on the gear
  28. change your display name
  29. Also nobody cares, (CENSORED)
  30. (top right corner, should be near the top)
  31. Ghost Master: We allowing 3d Dice or is that a distraction?
  32. Naacha: Okay, got it.
  33. Nobody Important (GM): You can turn them on, i've got them off so I can't see them
  34. it'll just take longer for them to pop up when you roll them
  35. Bruce: Sound check: does anyone here some sweet riffs right now?
  36. Naacha: Nope.
  37. Ghost Master: nope
  38. Bruce: Hm. Looks like I'm using text then.
  39. Nobody Important (GM): Check under the gear; you may have Broadcast Sound off.
  40. Bruce: Nope, it's on.
  41. Nobody Important (GM): Well, it's not like text won't work.
  42. Sverd: I actually like text more. Mainly because I have PTSD from an absolutely awful over-voice experience with a bunch of nasally idiots who spent 30 minutes yelling about chasing a mouse around our ship.
  43. Nobody Important (GM): Well, I have a cold but we'll take a vote when everyone is in here.
  44. Bruce: So, anyhoo. Bruce lives not too far to the west (or east, I'm a bit undecided), and is probably hiding out after finding himself on the losing side of a battle. The cowboy doesn't come from too far away either. Sverd is here because he's looking for exotic allies, maybe bringing the musician with him.
  45. Now what I want to know is exactly what circumstances lead to a nile crocodile showing up in Davenport not in a cage.
  46. Sverd: The idea of bringing Hannah with me makes sense.
  47. Ghost Master: Sure. But I forgot to give Hannah Ideals and goals. Hang on.
  48. Naacha: ...hrm. Honestly, I'm thinking of having him show up in a cage. Mostly because that could be hilarious. Objections?
  49. Thanks, Bruce!
  50. Sverd: None here
  51. Nobody Important (GM): I was just planning on remarking to everyone about "there is a crocodile on the seat next to you. WHY IS NOBODY PAYING ATTENTION TO THIS"
  52. Sefton: Clearly he did a wrong turn on the river and next thing he knew, he was in the old west
  53. Bruce: Please, someone tell me an explanation that doesn't involve a cage, I'll probably find it very amusing. What possessed this crocodile to come to Davenport? Did he know what and where Davenport was and deliberately set out for it, or did just stumble upon it by chance? And exactly what means of transportation has he procured to cross the African continent, the Atlantic ocean and a good chunk of North America?\
  54. Nobody Important (GM): Well, you know man, he was visting his cousins in louisiana
  55. and he took a steamboat north, and decided to be a bit touristy
  56. Bruce: There we go.
  57. Nobody Important (GM): he mugged a dude for ~$3.50 which he shoved onto the counter and demanded a train ticked in high-class british english to davenport
  58. Sverd: I'm gonna join out and come right back in, just cropped my picture a little
  59. Naacha: Honestly I can just go with whatever. I muted my mice because I'm laughing too hard right now.
  60. Nobody Important (GM): are you going to tell a 10 foot long croc where he can't go?
  61. Naacha: *mic
  62. Sefton: Crocs and witches follow around the same rules
  63. Sverd: Well now he looks fat. One se.
  64. Sefton: "The croc told me it was an apple seller, and I am not about to doubt the word of a croc"
  65. CuteBold A.: Oh
  66. Should I get a appropriate picture?
  67. Nobody Important (GM): Eh.
  68. Sverd: If you want.
  69. Bruce: And of course, the Saltwater crocodile is capable of vast sea-voyages so with a little Hollywood biology and blatant comedic exaggeration, he could've crossed the Atlantic himself.
  70. Nobody Important (GM): In an actual campaign I'd be asking for a profile picture for icons, carving it into tokens, and setting up an actual map
  71. Sverd: I'm just doing it because I want to constantly remind everyone how attractive I am
  72. Nobody Important (GM): but here i'm just gonna bullshit it because it's just a playtest
  73. CuteBold A.: I can go fix it real quick
  74. Ghost Master: I put Hannah's ideals and goals in the d20 message board.
  75. Nobody Important (GM): You got 9 minutes, feel free
  76. Sefton: You're saying as if bullshitting your way through ADVENTURE didn't make for the best campaigns
  77. Naacha: A moment, if you please!
  78. Sefton: Oh yeah, sound test, can anybody hear anything from my end?
  79. Bruce: Nope
  80. Sefton: Sweet. I won't be a problem then
  81. Sverd: Negtory
  82. Naacha: There we go!
  83. Nobody Important (GM): well
  84. Sverd: I can hear Naacha though.
  85. Nobody Important (GM): i can hear something
  86. may want to put on headphones, you had an open mic going on there
  87. Naacha: Dang.
  88. This is what I get for buying a headset with only one cord.
  89. Bruce: Naacha, say something again. I was blasting Anthrax's Indians for motivation.
  90. Nobody Important (GM): Ayup.
  91. CuteBold A.: Got it
  92. Nobody Important (GM): It's kinda tinny, but I can hear you.
  93. Sverd: Reload the page
  94. Bruce: I can't hear shit.
  95. Sverd: I can't hear anything either.
  96. Sefton: What are you guys sticking to? Turning on voice chat for the campaign or sticking to text?
  97. Sverd: Voice chat seems really buggy.
  98. Nobody Important (GM): Reload the page, set the gear to "hear voices" or whatever
  99. CuteBold A.: uh
  100. Sverd: Reload again, it took a couple tries with me
  101. CuteBold A.: real quick note
  102. I can't actually hear anything
  103. Sverd: Neither can anyone else.
  104. CuteBold A.: No, my computer doesn't have a functioning sound card
  105. Sverd: oh
  106. Ghost Master: Didn't hear anything.
  107. Nobody Important (GM): We should probably rely a bit on typing then instead if people can't hear each other
  108. Sefton: I can hear you guys pretty fine over here
  109. Nobody Important (GM): Plus, it'll make it easier for transcripts
  110. Sefton: But again, I'm not playing
  111. Bruce: True, true.
  112. And now that everyone's here: roll 4d6 and keep 3 is /roll 4d6k3

  205. Naacha: Naacha's here, ready to roll!
  206. Nobody Important (GM): I think that's everyone
  207. Hold onto your butts then, we're about to start.
  208. Let's go over the sheets real quick, anyone need clarification?
  209. Bruce: Yes, one thing
  210. Does 'beast' count as a single tongue?
  211. Sverd: I don't think so.
  212. Nobody Important (GM): Bruce, you want to change your traits around a bit before we start? Not much travelling or injun chiefs here
  213. Go on
  214. Bruce: I think I should keep my traits just to see what a fish out of water performs. You know, for experimental sake.
  215. Nobody Important (GM): Well, there's one for each major category of animal.
  216. So; Reptiles, amphibians, fish, cats, dogs, primates, etc
  217. At least, that's what I've got for the Linguistics skill. Remember that you start with 3 languages on your first point!
  218. Bruce: I see. He's got English and 2 kinds of Injun, so the one beast language he has is probably horse out of pragmatism.
  219. Sverd: Two levels in lingustics: bird
  220. Nobody Important (GM): Fair enough
  221. What languages does Naacha speak?
  222. because at least one person needs to speak Reptile or this is going to be mighty awkward. Or, he could speak Human.
  223. Bruce: I think he does speak human
  224. Sverd: I
  225. Naacha: I gave him Human, Big Cat, and Bird.
  226. Sverd: Whoops. I'd think he could speak human, yeah.
  227. Nobody Important (GM): Duly noted. Okay, so you speak human.
  228. Let's go over everyone's background real quick: Why on earth are you in a eastbound train to Davenport?
  229. Ghost Master: Zweitracht Academy forbade speaking to filthy animals. Hannah only speaks human.
  230. Nobody Important (GM): (especially you, Naacha)
  231. Bruce: Was on the losing side of a territory war, had to cut losses. Everyone else was running anyways.
  232. Nobody Important (GM): (or it could be westbound, but that makes Sverd and Hannah's presence a bit more confusing)
  233. CuteBold A.: jeremiah's town was attacked by Shadow friends
  234. He had little left so he went off for revenge
  235. Nobody Important (GM): A vengeance plot against demons. Excellent.
  236. Sverd: Sverd came to the west looking for someone who could help him get to the Ice Palace safely, because of all the fire-based legends in the place, and picked up Hannah as a fleeing refugee for obvious ideological reasons.
  237. Naacha: Hrm...
  238. Bruce: Was swimming up the Mississippi for his own reasons and got tired?
  239. Ghost Master: Hannah is traveling with Sverd as he's strong enough to protect her from anyone who would pursue her, and he's keeping her around because of his ideas, and the fact that she's his meal ticket.
  240. Nobody Important (GM): Okay, Sverd looking for friends to help him with the Ice Queen, Hannah clinging to him like a dime-store adventure novel cover.
  241. Okay. How you got a ticket for a train will remain a mystery. Stole your way onboard?
  242. Naacha: Frankly? How's this sound: as he's fleeing from home in his "WHAT HAVE I DONE" episode, he makes it to the Mediterranean and gets snatched up by a ship belonging to a travelling circus, but manages to get loose somewhere in the Mississipi Delta and books it, happening to run into the train when he finally feels he's somewhat safe.
  243. That work at all?
  244. Nobody Important (GM): That works.
  245. Going to be interesting to see how a cowboy, a knight, a lute player, and a Indian diplomat accept a crocodile into their midst.
  246. Anyway, let's get rolling!
  247. You're on a train bound for Davenport. It's about 10 o'clock, but everyone aboard seems a bit sleepy for their own reasons. There's only four people on this train anyway other than the conductors and crew -- oh, and the crocodile lying in the row between the seats near the back.
  248. You're not sure what's up with that.
  249. Sverd: (( Jeremiah, you might wanna refresh the page real quick to get your other image to show.))
  250. (( Also might wanna change name in the settings tab.))
  251. Bruce: "Hrm, this certainly isn't one of the indigenous species."
  252. Nobody Important (GM): Anyway, You're about ten minutes away from the town, but all you can really see from here is flat, flat landscape and the river that the train runs along.
  253. Yeah, your experience tells you that this isn't an alligator, it's a crocodile-- much bigger and meaner.
  254. He seems alright though.
  255. CuteBold A.: ((Did it work)0
  256. Nobody Important (GM): Anyone going to remark anything to the other passengers before you arrive in the station?
  257. Sverd: ((I'm waiting for Hannah to say something first.))
  258. Ghost Master: "Oh give me a home, where the buffalo roam..." Hannah is quietly playing, and she has a small can with a few coins in it in front of her.
  259. Bruce: "Trust me, you don't want that. Buffalos do not make for pleasant neighbours."
  260. Sverd: Sverd frowns slightly at Hannah's singing, casting a glance at the crocodile an arm's length away. "What's a buffalo? Is that some kind of name for bandits in this place or something?"
  261. Ghost Master: Hannah shrugs. "Just a song they sing here." She smirks and looks at the knight, I could always sing THAT song again. If you want."
  262. Naacha: The crocodile rolls over and rubs its own neck, seemingly somewhat irritated.
  263. CuteBold A.: Jeremiah grumbles something about bandits in his sleep
  264. Bruce: "Buffalo is much a cow. Horns, four legs, eats grass....they're wild and shaggy though.
  265. Sverd: Sverd's eyes dart back to the crocodile before looking back at Hannah, the piercing blue almost looking through her, but not in an unfriendly way. "If you want, I suppose. I'm more interested in the company around us. Seriously, what is that giant scaly thing, and why is it on a train?"
  266. Ghost Master: Hannah shrugs. "Ornate luggage?"
  267. Bruce: "Luggage doesn't come with teeth."
  268. Sverd: Sverd blinks a little while turning to Bruce. "I'm sorry, were you talking to me? Excuse my lack of attention, I suppose..."
  269. Naacha: "This was the first place I could relax after I got out of that circus. Ow... still chafes from the collar."
  270. So that's why it was rubbing its neck.
  271. Ghost Master: "Luggage that has a security system then?" She blinks. "Did the suitcase just talk?"
  272. Sverd: Sverd nearly jumps out of his seat. "I-It can talk!"
  273. CuteBold A.: Wakes up, rubbing his eyes
  274. Bruce: "Many can. Animals are more clever than most give them credit for."
  275. CuteBold A.: "Wahn in tarnation? Can't a man get some sleep 'round ere?"
  276. Nobody Important (GM): After Jeremiah speaks, the train slows down and comes to a jolting halt at the train station -- more of a few wooden planks nailed together and a tiny little shack of a ticket booth. The conductors quickly usher you off the train -- nobody likes to spend long around here. (how they get the croc off the train is anyone's guess, it just sort of walks down the aisle as they squeak and jump into the seats) What greets you can only be described as desolation. The train station itself is on a bit of a hill on one side of the Mississippi, allowing you to see the enormous shanty-town that is Davenport. Three buildings stick out of the city prominently -- a large, ornate and shiny building, nearly glowing with lights that says "LUCKY SHAKES" on it in glowing letters, a large and ornate house, and what appears to be literally a block of concrete in the center of town.
  277. You're on a train platform. You're where you paid to go. What's next?
  278. CuteBold A.: "Well, I reckon I made it"
  279. Ghost Master: "Can we go get something to eat?"
  280. Sverd: Sverd fumbles with his armor, clearly uncomfortable with the heat of the locale. "Uh, you know your way around this place? If not, we might have to get someone to show us just where we can eat without being shot at..."
  281. Naacha: The crocodile squirms a bit once he sees the run-down state of most of the town.
  282. "So this is... where, exactly?"
  283. Nobody Important (GM): You can almost smell the human misery from here. People stumble around, black marks as dark as night marring their skin. You see your first beggar only ten feet from the train platform, only one arm left to hold an empty dish.
  284. It is not the last.
  285. Bruce: "Davenport, a town very far away from the territory wars of Colorado. Casinos are always friendly. They just want to take your money, but they are friendly."
  286. Ghost Master: "Do they serve food?"
  287. Bruce: "They charge you too much for it."
  288. Nobody Important (GM): (if you want to find food, you can either stumble around for a bit or make an Insight/Travel check)
  289. CuteBold A.: "Theres a charge for everything here"
  290. Ghost Master: Hannah shrugs. "That's nothing new."
  291. Nobody Important (GM): Test me Occult, everyone.
  292. (3d6+Intelligence+Occult, most likely)
  293. Sverd: Sverd sighs. "Take your mind off food for a second. We should get our bearings in this town before we do anything else. Look at these people, run down and beaten by this land - they clearly need our help. We should try and find somewhere we can understand what's going on here."
  294. Ghost Master: Those who don't have Occult, just add Int, correct?

  345. Bruce: "I had heard of the terrible debt-marks of the Shadowlanders. I always hoped I would never see one."
  346. Nobody Important (GM): (really? This many people came into the shadowlands without a single point in occult? Well, hopefully Bruce and Hannah feel like sharing.) There's more than a physical payment required here. The toll for living in the shadowlands is your soul.
  347. Moreover, being in debt can quickly cause your death, and dying in debt to someone is very bad, because they then own your soul which they can use to pay off their own debts.
  348. Being here for too long can cause your Soul to be lost to the mysterious gods of the Shadowlands, known only as the Friends from the Other Side
  349. Sverd: ((Not information it'd make sense for Sverd to know, so I didn't roll.))
  350. Nobody Important (GM): People can and will do anything to get things to lower their debt. ((duly noted, sverd)
  351. Stealing is so common that it's being illegal is merely a formality. Whats yours is yours only if someone owes it to you, or you can defend it with your own hands.
  352. Sverd: "Debt-marks? Is there something about those horrid black markings on their arms - Besides the clear message of an evil taint in this place, that is."
  353. Nobody Important (GM): They accept all kinds of currency here, though. From dollars to guilders to shillings, anything with any value is a medium of trade.
  354. Ghost Master: "Sir Knight," Hannah says. "It's unwise to spend too much here, or to accept debts from another. The cost is SOUL-ly too steep."
  355. Nobody Important (GM): Test endure for that pun.
  356. Naacha: "... I don't get it."
  357. Nobody Important (GM): (nah, just messin with ya)

  385. Nobody Important (GM): The croc looks like he's trying to decide if he wants you for dinner or if he wants to take you to dinner
  386. Ghost Master: Hannah sighs. "We need money, or else we'll end up in debt to someone. That would be a very bad thing. Too much debt and this place will suck your life dry, and then it'll start to REALLY work on you."
  387. Nobody Important (GM): ((would Sverd still have money on him? Who has money on their person? Also, is Naacha immune to the soul-debt, being an animal?))

  405. CuteBold A.: Jeremiah looks over the party members and introduces himself "I'm Jeremiah, and from the looks of you all, your a little lost"
  406. Sverd: Sverd instinctively moves his hand to the hilt of his sheathed sword, but doesn't display any malice in his body language. "My- Uh, my name is Sverd, and this is Hannah, Mister, uh, whatever it is that you are." Turning to Hannah, he quickly adds "I've got a bit of money left on me from coming here, but we spent most of it on that God-forsaken train ride. And I still have no dammed idea what you're off about, or why you're still attempting to murder me with those deadly puns."
  407. Bruce: "I'm in a place where no one is aiming a rifle at me, so I'd say I'm exactly where I intend to be."
  408. Nobody Important (GM): Jeremiah, I'll let you make a Travel check instead of Insight/Occult if you want to remember what you know since the last time you were here.
  409. CuteBold A.: (i'll take it))
  410. Ghost Master: Hannah gets Sverd to lean down and she whispers to him all the Occult knowledge that she knows about Shadow-Marks.

  423. Nobody Important (GM): The train has left, by the way. Next train out is in two days.
  424. Ghost Master: "Was that clear enough for you or do I have to 'string' you along some more before you 'tune' in."
  425. Nobody Important (GM): Remember, you're supposed to add one of your stats too, not just your skill.
  426. Naacha: "It's nice meeting you all! My name is Naacha! So, um, I'm going to guess from the way you were talking about it that this place is bad news?"
  427. Nobody Important (GM): So with your Intelligence, thats 17+6 = 23.
  428. Bruce: "Tell me, scaly one, are you familiar with the 'Friends on the Other Side'? The dark spirits who want only souls?"
  429. Sverd: Sverd looks surprised upon hearing about the horrible nature of the Shadowlands, and is about to say something when another pun turns it into a prolonged and over-exaggerated groan.
  430. Nobody Important (GM): The buildings are the Governors mansion, the police station, and the official casino. If you want food, you'll probably have to rely on food stalls since there's probably still no restaurants here. Taxes are bad and it looks like they've gotten worse.
  431. Naacha: "I have no idea WHAT those are... Bruce, right?"
  432. Bruce: "Yes. They hold great sway in these Shadowlands, ever since their servant, the Shadowman, came to power. He held his soul as collateral.....do you understand what collateral is?"
  433. CuteBold A.: 'Hmmm..."
  434. Naacha: "I know enough about it."
  435. CuteBold A.: "It seems we've gotten here at a bad time"
  436. Ghost Master: "Anyway, back to food." Hannah says. "I'm hungry, and I've never tried the stuff here! Let's find a place and..." She shakes her coin can. "See if I can't get us enough food. You know, the usual plan, a melody for a meal-ody."
  437. Nobody Important (GM): ((PAIN))
  438. Ghost Master: ((I will never stop))
  439. Nobody Important (GM): ((well, it fits the spirit of the game...))
  440. Sefton: (I like her a lot already.)
  441. CuteBold A.: "I'd watch what you give away girl"
  442. Bruce: "He gave the Friend his soul as collateral to gain power, then used the power to gain many other souls. He traded them for his soul back and much more power. And so he came to rule these lands."
  443. CuteBold A.: "You never know how literal the person you are trading with is"
  444. Sverd: Despite the gut-wrenching nature of the pun, Sverd can't help but smile a little at Hannah's chipper state. "It's quite inspiring to see someone so happy all the time, even if you won't stop making those terrible puns."
  445. Naacha: "That sounds pretty grim, alright. Anyway, do we even have to worry about food? There's a river full of fish right there."
  446. Sverd: Sverd turns to the rest of the group. "Do any of you know, perchance, where a tavern would be around here? If whatever horrid force runs things hasn't taken that down as well as the heart of the people."
  447. Bruce: "Under the rule of the Shadowman, I cannot guarantee those fish are safe to eat. I cannot stop you from trying, though."
  448. CuteBold A.: "I don't know any 'taverns' nearby, but I think I know where some food stalls are"
  449. Nobody Important (GM): Bruce, you know that all the game and fish and fruit of the land are property of the Shadowman.
  450. You should probably warn Naacha.
  451. ((I.E, taking them would encur debt to Facilier))
  452. Naacha: Especially since he's headed towards the river right now.
  453. Bruce: "Everything has a price here, even the fish that seem to be be free. I do not know if the Friends value the souls of animals, but I assure you if you partake of those fish they will claim yours."
  454. Naacha: Naacha stops in his tracks upon hearing Bruce.
  455. "What, really? Ah, great. Not like I haven't gone a while without eating before, but man, that's disappointing."
  456. Nobody Important (GM): You hope that one guy you know is still in business. You could get food on the cheap.
  457. He usually sets up outside the casino in about a half hour, if your judgement on the sun is right.
  458. CuteBold A.: "Hey yall, I think I know where you boys, and gal, can get a bite to eat"
  459. Ghost Master: "Oooh what's he serve? What's he serve?"
  460. Nobody Important (GM): Pretty much everything he can get his hands on that isn't property of the shadowman.
  461. CuteBold A.: "Eh...Food. cheap food"
  462. Nobody Important (GM): So, rats usually, some forms of veggies grown in his garden, and occasionally a deer or two hunted on Alameda Slim's country.
  463. Ghost Master: "The best kind! Can we go?" Hannah asks Sverd.
  464. CuteBold A.: "Company is especially welcome in these parts. helps keep yah from doing something stupid"
  465. Sverd: Sverd looks into the small satchel on his holster. "Eh... I've got three Arrendellian gold coins and a penny I found in a village back in your homeland. Is that enough to buy anything there..?"
  466. Nobody Important (GM): ((let's skip to the point here; are you going to follow Jerimiah's lead around here?))
  467. Bruce: I'd say so.
  468. Naacha: ((Not like he's got anywhere better to go.))
  469. Ghost Master: If Sverd goes.
  470. CuteBold A.: "I'd consider gold of any sorts good tender here."
  471. Nobody Important (GM): ((gold is very good tender. He could probably buy a small shack for that much, or pay off pretty much anyones entire debt))
  472. Sverd: "Well, it's a good a start as any, I suppose. Lead on, my friend."
  473. Naacha: "It beats being in a cage."
  474. Ghost Master: "Yay! Food! I've never had rat before...I suppose that I'll have quite a gross TAIL to tell everyone back at the academy."

There's nothing you can do for them right now. When you arrive, you see a small crowd of hungry people around a metal food-cart and a tall, bearded man in the vestments of a priest -- a bit ragged, but servicable))
  491. CuteBold A.: "Right, its right round the ol' casino"
  492. Bruce: "GAAAAARGH."
  493. Sverd: "That's disgusting. And by that, I mean the food and that pun."
  494. Nobody Important (GM): This is your old 'friend' Gabriel Waterloo, a christian missionary and amateur cook. You remember he sells food as cheap as he's legally allowed to to get away with having people be in debt to him.
  495. Notably, he has no debt-marks on his skin.
  496. CuteBold A.: "Well, well well, Ain't it Good ol' gabe!"

  498. Nobody Important (GM): "Hah, Jeremiah!" He turns to you in between handing a fried rat to a beggar. "Doing my best in these dark times."
  499. "Ain't easy when everyone is willing to gamble their lives away just to get out from their debt. Picked up some new friends?"
  500. Sverd: Sverd perks up at the mention of 'Dark times', butting into the conversation. "Dark times? Is there anything we can do to help?"
  501. CuteBold A.: "Well, I just found these pardners while takin a train ride here"
  502. Gestures to the rest of the group. "They said they was hungry, and I thought my old pal might be willin to help for a quarter or two"
  503. Nobody Important (GM): Gabriel's bushy eyebrows shoot up, incredulous that anyone would actually offer to help. "I'd be careful offering your help around here -- sometimes all it takes is a word to be in debt." He scratches his beard. "Oh, yeah, rat's a penny now."
  504. Ghost Master: Hannah grabs Sverd's arm. "Food first! Good deeds are better filled on a filled stomach."
  505. Nobody Important (GM): "Such terrible rates, I apologize, but if I gave them away you'd be in debt to me." He scowls. "Things are getting worse sir knight, because our 'governor' has hiked up taxes by an obscene amount on all goods; Roughly 500% if you've got a head for numbers."
  506. Sverd: Sverd fumbles with his coin-purse, eventually and clumsily handing the penny from the Mirror kingdom to the missionary.
  507. Nobody Important (GM): "Your rat meat." You get six rat skewers before he goes back to passing out food to the beggars.
  508. Sverd: "Taxes? And you say a corrupt lord is causing all this undue stress on the people here?" Sverd smiles like an idiot, clearly in his element.
  509. CuteBold A.: "For cryin out loud! He must either be the biggest fool or the saddest piece a garbage in this town!"
  510. Bruce: "You know, I've never eaten an animal that wasn't bigger than my fist before."
  511. Naacha: "Never had 'rat' before. Wonder what it's like..."
  512. Ghost Master: Hannah digs into the disgusting lump of meat on a stick with a joy and relish saved for children on their birthday.
  513. "I LOVE the slimy bits!"
  514. Nobody Important (GM): "Wouldn't call Ol No One a 'lord' per se, that title is usually reserved for God Almighty, but yes. He's clearly up to something, but nobody knows what. He's trying to prevent people from leaving too for some reason."
  515. CuteBold A.: He yanks on his mustache a bit before continuing "I Reckon he must either have a debt as big as Alameda's keaster"

  533. Nobody Important (GM): Specifically, No One from Nowhere. He supposedly sold his face to the friends for power.
  534. It allows him to (supposedly, mind) disguise himself as anyone with ease, because you see what he wants you to see.
  535. "Aye, he fulfills the same role as a lord, but he's less than that. Think of a governor as sort of a..." Gabriel stumbles in terms as he tries to remember what he can about Arendelle culture, gears audibly turning in his head, "between a mayor and a lord, perhaps an administrator for a large town?"
  536. Sverd: Sverd looks back at Jeremiah. "Regardless of what he is, if this man speaks the truth we have an obligation to the people here to depose this man. An OBLIGATION."
  537. CuteBold A.: "I reckon its the latter. No one is not dumb enough to build up a debt"
  538. Ghost Master: "Here we go again..."
  539. Bruce: "Governor, mayor, chief, lord, magistrate......I find the differences between them quite meaningless."

  541. Naacha: "Wait a minute, didn't the guy just say that wasn't a good idea?"
  542. CuteBold A.: "You don't think that one of these fools round here might go squelin to the police, just to repay a few bets?"
  543. Nobody Important (GM): "Careful with talk like that, he might think of it as treason -- and then the police are gonna come after ya. They'll take you in for questioning, and then you'll never be heard from again. And if that fails, he's got his own squad of soldiers."

  582. Naacha: There is something of a CHOMP sound as Naacha downs the rat.

  584. Sverd: Sverd nods to Jeremiah before speaking in general, "Anyway, where does this supposed governor-lord-man live?"
  585. CuteBold A.: "Well, its kinda hard to miss"
  586. Nobody Important (GM): "Big house on the hill. Be careful, he's got guards with guns..." Gabriel cautions, noticing Sverd's look of determination.
  587. Ghost Master: "I will not make puns for a week, if you promise me that this doesn't end with us burning down another 'house of wickedness' Sir Knight."
  588. Nobody Important (GM): " it's the only house that isn't run down" a beggar pipes up.
  589. Bruce: "If you are really determined to defeat this faceless man, you must find the weakness in his deal with the Friends; all those with powers of the Friends have such a weakness. Even the Shadowman himself has one; he can conjure nothing for himself."

  594. Naacha: "Wow, Sverd, you're really set on this, aren't you? Won't do us any good to go in without knowing all of what's going on. I should know..."
  595. Sverd: Sverd looks almost shocked at Hannah's words. "Burn down? Of course not! Someone innocent might get hurt. We'll convince him of the error of his ways, instead, and free the people of this town with no love lost!" Sverd looks determined.
  596. Nobody Important (GM): "Probably for the best. If'n I can help you out in any way let me know, I'll be here for the next few hours."

  708. Nobody Important (GM): ((James Frankton, at least the last time you were here. Smarmy little man.)
  709. ((He's surprisingly not a bad guy, but he does what he needs to not be in debt))
  710. CuteBold A.: "I think it was Lil' Jamie frankton last time I was in town"
  711. Snaps his fingers.
  712. Bruce: (rolling to find the board that gives all the conversion rates for everything: cash, magic beads, furs, souls, etc.)
  713. Sverd: "No. Greed is a symptom of a disease, the festering rot that lingers on these people. It is an unnatural tumor in the side of all honest men." Sverd looks wistful.
  714. Naacha: "Well, while you two settle that, I'm gonna see what Jeremiah's up to."
  715. Nobody Important (GM): ((Your beads are ~40$ worth of chips. Not much, but you could play a good game with it.))
  716. Bruce: "I assure you, greed is just a natural, healthy desire run amok."
  717. Nobody Important (GM): ((Soul is ~300$.))
  718. CuteBold A.: ((Oh come on, a soul could be worth much more))
  719. Nobody Important (GM): ((Not in the shadowlands.))
  720. ((It's Faciliers soon enough if you stick around too long.))
  721. CuteBold A.: "While you two debate, I think I'll start lookin fer him"
  722. Sverd: "Absolutely not. I'll prove you wrong, here and now! All men are honest and good at their core!" Sverd walks over to a random patron playing a slot machine and, taking one of the expensive gold coins from his pouch, hands it to him.
  723. CuteBold A.: "Try not to sell yall's soul"
  724. Nobody Important (GM): Knowing him, he'll probably be watching one of the dealers.
  725. Naacha: "Oooh boy. Now we're in for it, aren't we?"
  726. Nobody Important (GM): The man blinks for a moment, looks at the shining coin, and begins thanking Sverd profusely.
  727. Ghost Master: Hannah facepalms again, groaning. "You have NO idea."
  728. Nobody Important (GM): Others notice, and begin to crowd around Sverd, begging for spare change. The man with the coin runs off to the exchange table.
  729. CuteBold A.: "No where in the dam shadowlands could that man be?"
  730. Naacha: "This is what he warned us about. This is exactly what he warned us about."
  731. CuteBold A.: Jeremiah looks around the first floor
  732. Sverd: Sverd backs up from the growing crowd around him, before handing out his other two coins to the crowd and rolling for MUSIC

  747. ((Yes, that does. Grats, Sverd. You just earned someone's soul unless they manage to win a lot on that coin.))
  748. That's like, 500$ worth of gold because it's pure.
  749. Sverd: ((Whoops.))
  750. Sefton: (Guess you can't run soul-ely on good intentions, eh)
  751. Nobody Important (GM): ((On the plus side, that means if you stick around your soul is safe, since you'll trade his soul for yours.))
  752. Ghost Master: "Luggage, I think we need to rescue my Knight before he Cavalier-ly throws his life...and the rest of our money...away." Hannah says.
  753. Sverd: ((Also, I handed out all three coins to the crowd before singing to pacify.))
  754. ((Would that be three souls?))
  755. CuteBold A.: Jeremiah waltzez over to Jamie, hands in his pocket
  756. Nobody Important (GM): ((Yes.))
  757. Bruce: "A man needs food, water, shelter, clothing, land to live off....a little voice in his head tells him to get those things. The voice tells him to get other things he does not but enjoys, like company and and drink. It is not until that voice starts telling him to get things far, far beyond what he will ever need that it can be considered greed."
  758. *does not need but enjoys
  759. CuteBold A.: "Well lookie here, you seem to be doin alright."
  760. Nobody Important (GM): It takes a moment for James to recognize you.
  761. "Jeremiah." he says, his blank face erupting into a grin. "Never thought I'd see you in my casino again!"
  762. "What're you doing in this... dirthole?

  765. "Not really my choice in the matter"

  767. Nobody Important (GM): He takes it without flinching. "Ah. One of those, huh? Come to play, or is this not a business thing?"
  768. (What happened to Ghost?)
  769. Ghost Master: (Crashed on me.)
  770. CuteBold A.: ((My bad, I meant like flick my head back))
  771. Nobody Important (GM): oh, nevermind. Ghost dropped off my list of people seen. 'pologies.
  772. Sverd: ((Gonna reload real quick))
  773. Naacha: Naacha simply shoots Sverd a look of slight annoyance, then walks (or waddles, I guess?) over to Jeremiah.
  774. Nobody Important (GM): (duly noted. Retcon in progress)
  775. "Is.. Is that a crocodile?"
  776. CuteBold A.: "Yeah, I thinks it taken a little bit of a liken to me"
  777. "But back to buisness"
  778. Naacha: "He knows the place, I don't."
  779. Sverd: Sverd smiles broadly to Bruce. "I think I've proved my point."
  780. Nobody Important (GM): "Fair enough. Long as you don't make a mess or eat one of my girls, we're good."
  781. CuteBold A.: "Im lookin fer a man whos just gotten himself a big ol' debt. Someone sent a whole truck ton of friends to rip up the town"
  782. Bruce: (whisper) "Jeremiah, someone in this casino might trade souls directly to the Friends on the Other Side. Find him, and we may learn something of use against the faceless one."
  783. Nobody Important (GM): "Ah." He sighs. "I was hoping you weren't here for that. Want to come to the back so we aren't chatting about this in front of everyone?"
  784. CuteBold A.: "If you don't mind me takin my scalie friend as well"
  785. Nods to the gator
  786. Nobody Important (GM): "Eh, he can talk, if he don't eat me it don't matter."
  787. Ghost Master: Hannah walks over to Sverd, and reaches up and grabs his ear and pulls him down so they're eye to eye. "That. Was. All. Of. Our. Money. We still need to buy a train ticket out of this place, not to mention those little things like eating and sleeping under a roof! What are we going to do now Sir Knight? Cause I can't eat tumbleweeds!"
  788. CuteBold A.: "Duely noted."
  789. Naacha: "Why would I eat you?"
  790. CuteBold A.: "Now lead on."
  791. Nobody Important (GM): "Uh. You are a crocodiliad. They're frequently known for eating people down in 'isiana."
  792. He gestures to a wooden door, and leads you through a plain hallway to a tiny office with four chairs and a desk piled with paper.
  793. Naacha: "Well that explains why that circus had that collar on me."
  794. CuteBold A.: "My my, seems somebodies been doin a bit of work here, aint he?"
  795. Sverd: Sverd pulls her hand off his ear. "Ow! That hurt! And... uh... I'll figure something out. I promise!"
  796. Nobody Important (GM): He kicks back in his desk, papers falling to the floor and his slick hair falling back. "Enough. The higher-ups want us to expand to Brighton nearby."
  797. "I aint sure if I should do it. I know it's work and all but it feels wrong after seeing what these people will do to keep playing."
  798. "Still, I'm not in charge so chances are good I'll end up doing it, like it or not."
  799. Sverd: "Anyway, you ate less than ten minutes ago! And did you see how much food that little penny bought? We'll be fiiiine."
  800. CuteBold A.: "Well then, who might be in charge then?"
  801. Nobody Important (GM): "Well, obviously at the top is the big ol shadowman himself, but locally the governor runs things on a grand scale. He's cooperating with Bobby Fitz, the current governor of Brighton to expand Lucky Shakes there."
  802. "He wants me to oversee it for a bit, so I might be doing a bit of travelling in the near future."
  803. CuteBold A.: "I see. So who'll be replacin you as the manager here/'
  804. Bruce: (Thought here. Voodoo people seem to dress a certain way in the disneyverse. Occult plus Sensibility to locate any voodooists among the staff?)

There are only two kinds of men without debt-marks in the Shadowlands: newcomers, and those who sell souls straight to the Friends on the Other Side. And I really do not think that he is a newcomer. 874. "What for?"

  923. Bruce: "Interesting."
  924. Sverd: Sverd pulls himself from Hannah's grip and quickly walks back over to the table. "We need this information if we are to help this town, Hannah! I swear if anything comes here, I'll protect you - And all our new friends as well, I suppose."
  925. Nobody Important (GM): (It's a conditon. He loses his time remaining on earth, and can only get it back by drastically shortening someone elses)

1091. Nobody Important (GM): ((roll Ranged+Agility, then)
1092. Naacha is up next, after Jeremiah and Bruce take their turns.
1093. Naacha: ((Alright, lemme get my game face on!))
1094. Ghost Master: Does Naacha get my +3 melee if he goes for the chomp?
  1095. Nobody Important (GM): Yep.
  1096. Somehow.
1097. Brawl and Melee are the same skill for animals without opposable thumbs.
1098. CuteBold A.: ((Do I add it to my shooting as well?))
1099. Nobody Important (GM): ((nope. Melee only.))
1100. Jeremiah and Cutebold, you have one more action.

1118. Nobody Important (GM): ((I've got ideas flitting for my next session planned anyway.))
  1119. Okay, that's 37. Wow.
1120. I'm wondering how you did that but I forgot you have 12 Agility.
1121. Okay, direct hit to his legs.
1122. CuteBold A.: (plus five ranged and dual pistols)
1123. Dread Cartographer .: Hey, don't mind me I'm just here to watch
1124. Ghost Master: I posted this earlier, but this is the type of song that Hannah is playing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJTMnfIa740
1125. Nobody Important (GM): Non-fatal wound, should be okay if he sees a doctor but hurts like a bitch.
1126. (Keep in mind the pistols are only +2, not +4.))

1162. Bruce: Try intimidation on the dogs.
1163. Nobody Important (GM): ((I think it may be literally impossible for Jeremiah to miss.))
1164. Sverd: ((It's definitely literally impossible for me to miss.))
1165. ((We might wanna raise difficulty in general of things.))
1166. Naacha: Naacha hisses menacingly at the dogs, hoping to drive them off.
1167. Nobody Important (GM): ((Agreed. TN20 is good and all but people are stacking bonuses. Perhaps TN22 would be better?))
1168. Sefton: (I think defense 22 is-- Yeah)
1169. Nobody Important (GM): Test me Intimidate, then.

  1189. Bruce: Ooooooh.....dang. Them's some low standards.

  1192. Naacha: "That's right, you'd better run!"
1193. Nobody Important (GM): ((nah, questions are good. I just did improper balancing.))
1194. Naacha: ((Note that he does not speak Dog.))
1195. Nobody Important (GM): ((so is he shouting that in human, or what? You still have one more action.))
1196. Bruce: So the dog runs from the crocodile into the water.......from the crocodile.....into the water. Must not be particularly familiar with how crocodilians operate.
1197. Sverd: ((Heroes should still be able to beat mooks like these with ease, though. It's Disney after all))
1198. Naacha: ((Shouting that in human, yes. As for my second action, I'll roll Intimidate at the other dog. That work?))

1214. Sefton: (Just realized that it is harder to suceed on a proper singing check than it is to beat up the police)
1215. Nobody Important (GM): Let's see, you have one surrendered cop, four wounded police and one dead one.
1216. CuteBold A.: ((Singing takes work in a Disney movie, action? Not so much))
1217. Bruce: Yeah, we'll have to adjust that.
1218. Ghost Master: (I don't go for the easy stuff!)
1219. CuteBold A.: ((Perhaps music should be Charisma+Music?))
1220. Nobody Important (GM): Now what?
1221. Sverd: Sverd is panting after the fight, but immediately drops to his knees and starts pushing on the one dead policeman.
  1222. Ghost Master: ((That's what I rolled.))
1223. Nobody Important (GM): ((Music is, indeed, charm+music ATM, although you can do Sensibility if you wnant))
1224. This cop is like, super dead.
1225. He's got a bullet through the lung and out the other side.
1226. He didn't suffer for that long, at least.
1227. Sverd: "Come on! Get up!" Sverd turns to the awestruck crowd around the market. "Is ANYONE a doctor here? Does anyone know medicine? COME ON!"
1228. CuteBold A.: Takes a deep breath, but keeps his guns pointed at the cops
1229. Naacha: "Alright, anyone mind telling me how they got here that quickly? I thought we'd have more time to get out of here!"
1230. Bruce: "It's too late. Even if his wounds could be treated, the Friends would not let us bring him back."
1231. CuteBold A.: "Alright, you yella bellies. Who told you to try and surprise Jerimiah?"
1232. I slowly approach the surrendered cops
  1233. *cop
1234. Nobody Important (GM): "J-Jedidiah did. The chief, i mean." he blubbers.
1235. "He's in real deep man, he got a call and we got sent out"
1236. Gabriel is packing up his stuff and trying to get away from this, btw
1237. CuteBold A.: "Hold it tattoo man"
1238. Sverd: Sverd slowly rises up from next to the dead policeman, looking solemn.
1239. Nobody Important (GM): ((Gabriel is the priest.))
1240. Ghost Master: "Well, congratulations Sir Knight. This isn't Prague again...it's Strasbourg." She sighs. "I don't think we'll be able to get nun outfits this time." She gently pulls Sverd away from the body. "We need to focus on the upcoming problems, Sir Knight." She points at Gabriel. "I see a soul who is in need of help."
  1241. CuteBold A.: ((My bad))
  1242. Naacha: "What's a Strasbourg?"
1243. Nobody Important (GM): ((No worries.))
1244. CuteBold A.: "Alright, y'all are gona first off hand your guns over"
1245. Bruce: "I think it's a place where they got someone killed someone before. Just a hunch"
1246. Nobody Important (GM): Gabriel stops for a moment in the middle of packing up. "You've angered him now. He's gonna keep sending people and things after you till you're dead or gone. If you really want to help us, just do something about him, please."
1247. CuteBold A.: "Then you better get to tying those wounded boys up"
  1248. And gabe"
1249. Ghost Master: "It's a place where upset people set you on fire after Sir Knight expressed his opinions on the treatment of women. That's a Strasbourg."
  1250. CuteBold A.: "Don't you worry a thing"
1251. Nobody Important (GM): Still sniffling, he gives you the two rifles they hand and begins cuffing his fellows.
  1252. CuteBold A.: "I've got my target."
1253. Sverd: Sverd sighs slightly. "It's a place where people have no honor. Much like this place, it seems."
1254. CuteBold A.: "Hey lass and Knight"
1255. "Come over here and grab yall selves some weapons. Y'all might be needin some"
1256. Ghost Master: "Remember what you told me, Sir Knight. Honor is silver. It matters not how tarnished that silver becomes, there is still something that shines beneath it all." She sighs and nods at Sverd. "Let's go clean up this town by cleaning No One's clock!"
1257. Sverd: Sverd frowns. "I have all the weapons I need right here. There is a reason that I don't have a gun. All a man needs is the Sword of his house." Sverd then mumbles "Which I actually don't have."
1258. Bruce: "Don't worry, the gun is the easiest weapon in the world to learn how to use. Just point and shoot."
1259. Nobody Important (GM): "If he really is a knight, then he's deadlier than that blade than he is with a gun." Gabriel pipes in.
1260. Sverd: "I have seen plenty guns before, and they were a force taking the honor of my country. I need only my blade."
1261. ((Muskets are a thing in Frozen.))
1262. CuteBold A.: "Well, suit yer self. Injun and gabe, start rustlin up the cash around the floor. Waste not want not"
1263. Naacha: "Guess we're in deep on this after all, huh? If it's all the same to you, I'll stick with you guys."
1264. CuteBold A.: "You keep that money fer yourself Gabe. Sorry for draggin you into this"
1265. Bruce: "Suit yourself. I find that my life is typically worth more than a little honor."
1266. Sverd: Sverd perks up a little bit at his own words. "In any case, Hannah is right. We should get to work on this town, they are in dire need of help. And please, sir, keep your money- We were only doing what any man would do."
1267. Sverd particularly looks at Bruce as he mentions the last bit.
1268. CuteBold A.: "Hey, one last thing copper."
1269. Nobody Important (GM): Gabriel looks around for a bit, and guiltily grabs a few dollars. "This will buy a lot of people soup. The stain on my soul isn't worth as much as that."
1270. Naacha: "Is this gonna be a thing with those two?"
1271. Naacha looks between Bruce and Sverd, then back at Jeremiah.
1272. CuteBold A.: "It aint a sin to give whats been stolen back, in my book at least"
1273. "Now, we have a date set up."
1274. Sverd: "Only until I show him that all men's lives have worth. Like that of this man here, merely forced into bad circumstance."
1275. Sverd looks down at the dead policeman.
1276. Nobody Important (GM): "I'd recommend getting moving, though. Gunshots travel far in a place like here."
1277. Ghost Master: "Don't worry about Sir Knight, Luggage." Hannah says to Naacha. "He gets this way after every time that someone dies near him." She smiles. "It's why I know I'm safe around the big dope."
1278. CuteBold A.: "Right. Come on kids, lets get to skeedadlin"
1279. Sverd: Sverd nods. "Gabriel is right, though. We have not time to waste here if we wish to truly help the people of this town. Let's get moving - friends."
1280. Nobody Important (GM): It'd take a blind idiot to not navigate to the Governor's estate.
1281. I'm not going to make you roll, but it takes a half-hour on foot.
  1282. It's about eleven o'clock, if you're interested.
  1283. CuteBold A.: ((Hold on))
1284. "Now listen pardners. When we get inside this mans palace, we best not be splittin up"
1285. Bruce: "Most bloodshed is pointless, 'prince'. But it's always better their blood than yours. Too often, we misjudge when comes down to their blood or our own."
1286. Ghost Master: "This is a bit different than the convent in Strasbourg." Hannah says. "Although, I think we'll get Nun of the warm reception that we did there! And we really shouldn't make a Habit of this stuff."
  1287. Naacha: "I still don't get it."
1288. Sverd: "ALL bloodshed is pointless, and I'm not a Prince. The only nobility in my home is our Queen and Princess." Sverd lightens his face and groans again at Hannah's pun, forgetting his petty arguments for a second.
1289. CuteBold A.: "Well, I figure we have two places to go"
1290. He takes off his hat and wipes the sweat off his head
1291. "We can head down to the sheriffs
1292. OR, we can go run up to the governor's like its halloween"
1293. "Perhaps the Sheriff might have somethin we ought to know"
1294. Naacha: "Which one's less likely to get us killed?"
1295. CuteBold A.: "Hmmmm, well were in pretty deep cow dung"
1296. Bruce: "Tell me then, he who acts like a prince: has anyone ever tried to put a hole in your skull because they didn't like who your parent were?"
1297. Ghost Master: "Sherrif's in debt to No One, we end No One's debts, Sherrif will probably be willing to give us 'Not Getting Shot' privileges." Hannah nods. "I like having those privileges."
  1298. CuteBold A.: "True, true"
1299. Sverd: Sverd stumbles across his words a bit. "Ye-N-May-Nnnn."
1300. Nobody Important (GM): ((That's a good point, Hannah.))
1301. ((Everyone round here who has a debt ultimately owes it to Facilier or to No One))
1302. Sverd: Sverd turns to Hannah and nods. "That's a great idea. We can show the Sherriff of the righetousness of our cause, and we'll have found another new ally!" Sverd confidently walks off in a random direction.
1303. Naacha: "Well, that works. So, way I see it, I'd rather keep my hide *on* my body. Jeremiah, you know where this 'sherrif' guy is, right?"
1304. Sefton: (I can't help but remember the whole Odysseus tricking the cyclops when I read his name)
1305. Ghost Master: "The Sherrif's is the OTHER WAY Sir Knight." Hannah says with a groan.
1306. Nobody Important (GM): ((It's part of the reference, yeah))
  1307. CuteBold A.: "uh, actually'
1308. Sverd: Sverd turns directly around. "Yeah, of course!"
1309. Nobody Important (GM): ((A shame nobody played dumb when someone said that no one was the governnor))
1310. CuteBold A.: "Its that big ol' brick"
1311. "Well, lets get to ah goin"
1312. Nobody Important (GM): The eyesore of a concrete block is, in fact, the police station.
1313. Naacha: "Huh. They didn't spend much time on this thing, did they?"
1314. Nobody Important (GM): It's ugly but your guess is that it would survive a direct hit from an Atlantean tank.
1315. CuteBold A.: "Well, after a series of escapes made via TNT and cows pulling bars and walls down, things were made much more sturdier"
1316. Bruce: "It happens to me about two or three times a year, four times if I get unlucky. It seems foolish to me. All men are brothers are regardless of the hue of their hides; we all bleed red when you cut us open. I hope to make the world see it my way, but if I weren't willing to spill another man's blood for my own life, I'd never get the chance."
1317. Ghost Master: "Well it DOES say 'Imposing Authority' in a heartbreaking totalitarian kind of way." Hannah nods. "You have to give it that."
1318. Bruce: "Still, I'd expect it to have a few spikes or skulls. Nothing says imposing like spikes and skulls."
1319. Naacha: "Eh, I guess. So, are we going in now or waiting for something?"
1320. Naacha flicks his tail back and forth idly.
1321. CuteBold A.: "Spikes would look rather nice.....Hmmm...Well, theres two ways we can do this."
1322. He raises two fingers to signify
1323. Nobody Important (GM): ((the door is plain and made of iron, by the way))
1324. CuteBold A.: "I go in and talk him out OR we try and huff and puff and blow his door down"
1325. Sverd: ((Let's end the argument here because we're doing something else, maybe pick it up later, don't wanna distract from blowing things up))
1326. Nobody Important (GM): ((Yeah, while in-character let's hurry things along))
1327. Sefton: (Blowing things up tends to solve any arguments, in any case)
1328. Ghost Master: "Sir Knight is going to just walk up and knock." Hannah says. She looks at Naacha. "Just watch, Luggage. It's what he does."
1329. Naacha: "Alright, you go ahead."
1330. Sverd: "Let's just go in and talk with the man. He'll surely listen to the honesty of our cause." Sverd walks up to the ugly brick of station and knocks on the door politely.
1331. Bruce: (Yeah, just needed to get that last word in)
1332. Nobody Important (GM): It's about ten seconds before someone opens the door.
1333. Ghost Master: Hannah makes a 'ta da' gesture.
1334. CuteBold A.: "Well, alright then. Knight in shining, your with me, Injun, lass and gator, you stay out here"
1335. Nobody Important (GM): They're a small and thin man who immediately panics upon seeing you.
1336. Sverd: Sverd is about to kick down the door and has raised his foot when someone opens it. "Oh, uh, hello there. Where's the sherif- HEY, WAIT!"
1337. Nobody Important (GM): He doesn't close the door though, he just drops to the ground, begging for mercy.
1338. Bruce: "I told you it was the only thing they respected."
1339. Nobody Important (GM): ((they're just small-town cops and occasional bullies. Not exactly tough guys.)
1340. CuteBold A.: "Hello there Jebadiah"
1341. Sverd: "I'm not here to hurt you, friend. It's fine, we just want to talk. I swear I'll keep the rest away from you." Sverd blocks off the rest of the group with his body.
1342. "Now, just, uh, where's the sheriff?"
1343. Nobody Important (GM): "H-h-he's in his office, last door at the end of the hall"
1344. "There're three other guys in here but none of us have weapons, sir"
1345. CuteBold A.: Jeremiah tips his hat to the man
1346. "Come on knight in silver"
1347. Sverd: Sverd nods happily. "Thanks!" Sverd then carefully pushes around the man, careful to not push him over, going into the station proper and walking to the end of the hall.
1348. Sverd motions for the rest of the group to follow.
1349. CuteBold A.: He lowers his hand to his holster, and grabs onto his gun, just in case
1350. Ghost Master: Hannah follows after Sir Knight.
1351. Nobody Important (GM): ((I'm going to assume for expedience that yall are following him))
  1352. Bruce: yeah
  1353. Naacha: ((Correct.))
1354. Nobody Important (GM): You open the last door, and a man looks up from his papers at you. He's... wide, and looks a bit out of shape, so pretty much every police chief ever. Notably, his body is entirely black, like his entire skin is debt-marks.
1355. If he could, he'd go as pale as a ghost.
1356. Sverd: Sverd meekly says "H-hi."
1357. Nobody Important (GM): "It's you! But the boys went after you!"
1358. CuteBold A.: "You think yer bullies were gona stop us?"
1359. Ghost Master: Hannah pushes past Sverd and starts scolding the Sherrif. I'm trying to Intimidate.
1360. Nobody Important (GM): With Charm? Make your roll.

1378. "He don't like you trying to help these people, he's evil he is, he wants everyone to suffer and fall deeper and deeper into their debts. But you gotta keep working with him or you get taken out for good!"
1379. Naacha: "What in the world did you ask him for, anyway?"
1380. Bruce: (I presume that they've got some ammo lying around. If so, I'm loading up the old bandoliers at their expense.)
1381. Sverd: Sverd pushes to the front of the group and loudly yells "YES! So, you'll help us convince No One of how wrong this all is, right? You see how evil everything around here is? I knew you were good at heart!"
1382. Nobody Important (GM): He looks at Naacha with confused then tired eyes. "Early on it was the usual stuff. You know, money, power, status, respect. Later on it was stuff so I could pay back my debt by using it." (Bruce: Go ahead. You get ~40 bullets, if it matters)
1383. He hesitates. "If I go with you, he'll just take my soul right then and there. I can't."
1384. CuteBold A.: "Hmm, good point"
1385. Nobody Important (GM): Jedidiah locks eyes with Sverd. "Some people are born with pure evil in their hearts -- the urge to own others. You can't bargain with them, or reason with them."
  1386. "That's No One. "
1387. CuteBold A.: "Now what about your boys?"
1388. Nobody Important (GM): "Which ones? The ones I sent out or the ones in here?"
1389. CuteBold A.: "Ones here. They in debt to No one?"
1390. Nobody Important (GM): "Yeah, but not as deep as I am. Pretty much everyone is."
1391. "It's that greed that every man's got that gets you."
1392. Ghost Master: "What...what if you give it to someone else first. As a loan." Hannah says. "If someone else owns your soul, then No One can't cash it in, right?"
1393. Sverd: Sverd returns Jedidiah's gaze, ice-blue eyes looking intently. "I refuse to believe that. There are only those so corrupted that they cannot listen. But all men, every single one, has a fire in their heart that no force can put out."
1394. Nobody Important (GM): ((Hannah, test me Occult to see if that's even possible.))
1395. Naacha: "Here we go again..."
1396. Bruce: "Who's to say that the fire brings goodness with it, Kemosabe?"
1397. Nobody Important (GM): "Not all fire is good." He stares blankly at the wall.
  1398. Sverd: "It's a METAPHOR."

1459. "Don't underestimate the Friends, Jeremiah. They'll get you good. As for how long; I dunno, half a minute, tops."

2084. Sverd: Sverd chuckles a little. "Hey, you started it. I think I'm younger than you, anyway." The smile drops from his face as he catches up to the rest of the group and sees the spectacle.
2085. CuteBold A.: Jerimiah whistles loudly, mimicking the sound of falling
2086. Bruce: "The faceless man exerts his power as we speak.....we must destroy the portraits to deny him his power!"

2096. Nobody Important (GM): "I think not. Friends! I have a proposition for you!"
2097. A multicolored whirlpool appears in the center of the room, and a deep booming voice fills the air.

2299. Sverd: Sverd leaps into the air as he runs, slicing at No One in a very different way to the careful, precise motions he took when fighting the other soldiers, usually the edge of the sword.
2300. Nobody Important (GM): No One dodges backwards in an almost carefree motion
2301. Like he isn't really trying.
2302. ((You still get another attack, and he likely won't be that lucky.))

2332. He screams, an unearthly sound, then laughs as it pops back into existence after a moment.
2333. Sverd: "DIE, BEAST! NO ONE HURTS MY FRIENDS, AND YOU WON'T TAKE ANOTHER SOUL AS LONG AS I HAVE MINE!"
2334. Nobody Important (GM): Naacha is up.
2335. Ghost Master: I see a mass of shadow swarming up from his stump and then dissipating revealing a new arm.
2336. Nobody Important (GM): That probably works better than my description.
2337. Naacha: "That's a nice neck you've got there! It'd be a shame if something happened to it!"
2338. Burning a will point. Let's charge and Death Roll.

  2367. Two strikes.
2368. One more action, but it's irrelevant, because he's defeated.
2369. The paintings all come to life, leering multicolored faces staring at him.
2370. "I just need a little more power! I can pay it all back! Just a bit... more... power!"

  2375. "Are you ready?"
2376. Bruce: I'm starting to think that boss characters way more strikes.
2377. Sverd: ((PCs in general are just too powerful.))
2378. Nobody Important (GM): No One screams when the shadow-things pull him free of Naacha's jaws, and you can still hear his unearthly screaming as he is dragged into the whirlpool.
2379. Sverd: ((Raising the difficulty of combat significantly is something we should do))
2380. Nobody Important (GM): ((It's a thought. We'll discuss it once you finish. You still have some paintings to burn.))
  2381. The room is silent.
2382. CuteBold A.: "You know, I would say that nobody cared about hi, but that be untrue. No one did."
  2383. *him
2384. Nobody Important (GM): You'll probably need therapy after that.
2385. Bruce: I was counting on having to burn the paintings to defeat him.
2386. Nobody Important (GM): Yeah, I misplotted how difficult combat would be.
2387. Sverd: "And don't think you are safe either, demons! I'll take you one day!"
2388. Nobody Important (GM): Combat monsters are really hard to avoid.
  2389. CuteBold A.: Yeah
2390. Nobody Important (GM): The things smile and laugh as they wave goodby to Sverd.
  2391. "Be seeing you soon!"
2392. Naacha: "Well, that takes care of that, eh? Let's deal with those things on the wall. They're startin' to creep me out..."
2393. CuteBold A.: ((Lets discuss after we are done))
2394. Ghost Master: Hannah, with shaky legs, comes up and grabs Sverd's ear. "DON'T. TAUNT. THE DEMONS!"
2395. Sverd: Sverd angrily yells something about fire before moving over to Hannah and taking hold of her from the back. "Are you alright? How hurt are you?"
2396. CuteBold A.: "Question: How in hades are we gona all these gosh darned pictures down?"
2397. Nobody Important (GM): Fire is an option.
2398. In fact, fire is nearly always an option.
2399. Naacha: "I've got an idea! If we shake the walls, they'll all fall, right?"
2400. Ghost Master: "I'm...I'm fine." She holds up her lyre. There's a bullet embedded in it. "Jerk owes me a new instrument...where's his money box, or treasure room, or vault?"
2401. Nobody Important (GM): There's a desk on the other side of the room if you're willing to search it
2402. Ghost Master: Hannah's all over that.
2403. CuteBold A.: Did No One drop his revolver?
2404. Nobody Important (GM): Well. There's a lot of... interesting paperwork, but you're a bit more interested in the pile of money in the bottom left drawer.
2405. Yep, it's still lying there on the ground.
2406. He dropped it when Naacha got a good grip on 'im.
2407. Sverd: Sverd puts his hand over the pile of money. "We can't take this. It belongs to the Sheriff now, as the new lord of the town."
2408. Nobody Important (GM): There's about $4,000 dollars here in assorted currencies.
2409. Ghost Master: "Can't I get some for a new instrument? And dinner? And our train ticket out of this place?"
2410. CuteBold A.: Jeremiah goes and picks up the fallen pistol
2411. Nobody Important (GM): It''s a fairly nice pearl-handled revolver.
2412. Sverd: Sverd ponders for a couple seconds. "If the Sheriff sees fit to give us some, we can accept it. In this case ONLY."
2413. Nobody Important (GM): Nothing innately magical, as far as you know.
2414. CuteBold A.: Jeremiah shrugs, twirls the pistol and holsters it
2415. Ghost Master: She sighs and rolls her eyes. "Fine...so...gather up all the paintings in a pile and burn then?"
2416. CuteBold A.: He then walks over to the desk and looks through the assorted papers
2417. Nobody Important (GM): These are mostly boring paperwork, but probably worth a bit to the right people.
2418. James'd like the expenses report, and Slick's boys would like the rest -- it would let them set easier trade with Virginia and Atlantis.
2419. Sverd: Sverd nods. "But I'm not letting you do any work before you heal up. I forbid it. The rest of us will take down the paintings - maybe Bruce can take a look, if he knows anything about healing."
2420. Naacha: "Hey guys, get ready for those paintings!"
2421. Naacha rams against the nearest wall.
2422. Nobody Important (GM): ((this should be good.))
2423. Sverd: Sverd calls out to Bruce, motioning for him to come look at Hannah.
2424. Nobody Important (GM): Paintings fall off the wall, priceless canvases falling and shattering against the ground.
2425. Well, it was quicker than just piling them up at least.
2426. CuteBold A.: I pack up the papers and stuff them in my bag
2427. Naacha: "Toldja I'd get 'em!"
2428. Ghost Master: "I'm fine, dummy!" Hannah says. "Just...I'm not going to be...running, or following you through any more windows."
2429. Bruce: What's healing, just science plus sensibility or intellect?
2430. CuteBold A.: "Yeah, Shining knight"
2431. "Next time think with your head, not your helmet'
2432. He taps his own head and makes a clinking sound
2433. Bruce: Sorry for disappearing there, but my connection has this habit of crapping out whenever I go on roll20
2434. Nobody Important (GM): It happens mate.
2435. Sverd: "You'll be following me through a lot more windows from here! That means all of you. We'll just fix you right as snow and you'll be fine. I promise."
2436. Nobody Important (GM): Science +intellect/sensibility depending on what kind of healing

  2452. That's one strike healed.
2453. So, Naacha has gotten most of the paintings down off the walls, and the ones that aren't are broken on the ground.
  2454. What's next?
2455. Bruce: I presume I have a horn full of powder,
  2456. Nobody Important (GM): 'course.
2457. Most pistols nowadays wouldn't require it but you're from far enough west it's a distinct possibility you'd need it. What are you going to do with it
2458. Bruce: Spread it across the paintings and deliver a good line:
2459. Nobody Important (GM): Would you lot prefer I just call it here? we've run significantly over.
2460. CuteBold A.: Lets end it with a bang
  2461. Sverd: I think we're good here.
  2462. Just burn everything first.
2463. Nobody Important (GM): Powder explosion+whiskey fire?
2464. Bruce: "Do you think fire is good, he who acts like a prince? I think it is destruction, plain and simple. But we can agree today; right now destruction is good."
2465. Sverd: roll for righteous flame

2496. CuteBold A.: "If you don't destroy something, nothing can't ever get done. Thats just how the world works"
2497. Nobody Important (GM): But the fuse you've set gives you enough time to get out of the building before the atrium collapses and sets the rest of the building on fire
2498. Sverd: "Life can come from destruction. I value the worth of any human above a painting. We are saving good men here, not killing them."
2499. Nobody Important (GM): Shadows rise up out of the shantytown after you hear the explosion shake the area, and you can visibly see people being freed from their debt.
2500. Ghost Master: Hannah turns to Sverd and holds up a finger to his face. "I TOLD YOU that this would end in fire. AGAIN."
2501. Nobody Important (GM): Regardless of your motivations, you have done a Good Thing today
2502. CuteBold A.: "Well..I Suppose we can't stop now, can we"
2503. Sverd: "RIGHTEOUS fire. A good fire." Sverd has a broad, idiotic smile across his face.
2504. CuteBold A.: "I guess you can say....'
2505. he pulls out a cigarette and lights it up
  2506. "The fire rises"
2507. Nobody Important (GM): ((suitably cheesy.))
2508. This is the point where I'd hand out lessons per player.
2509. Sverd: For an Alpha, this is remarkably solid. We just need to re-balane.
  2510. Balance.
  2511. CuteBold A.: Yeawh
2512. Nobody Important (GM): 6 for Sverd, 5 for Naacha, 4 for Bruce, 5 for Hannah, 5 for Jeremiah.
  2513. Sverd: noice
  2514. Ghost Master: Sweet.
  2515. Naacha: Yo-ho!
2516. Nobody Important (GM): not that it really matters, since this is likely a one-off.
2517. Still, the system kind of works.
2518. We just need to change the balance curve.
  2519. CuteBold A.: Yeah
2520. Sverd: Yeah. I was really hoping to use my HONORABLE COMBAT ability against No One if he had attacked anyone else.
2521. But he died too quick.
2522. Nobody Important (GM): Some things I noticed: It's really easy for people to hit TN20 in their primary skill, but actually difficult in their others.
2523. Ghost Master: There should be a better initiative system too.
2524. Sverd: Yeah, we should refine that.
2525. CuteBold A.: Work on making encounters more challenging. But, then again, most villains RARELY ever fight fairly
2526. Nobody Important (GM): Combat monsters are almost overpoweringly strong, we need an initiative system, we need to decide on attackers priority or defenders priority
2527. Villains are going to need at least 6 strikes, more depending on party sizes.
2528. Sverd: More than that, I'd say.
2529. Nobody Important (GM): I'd like to ask for your opinions on the system and on this adventure/my GM skills.
2530. Sverd: A king should have at LEAST 15 strikes.
  2531. Ghost Master: Solid.
2532. Sverd: You're a damn fine GM. I'd really like to play an actual campaign under you at some point.
  2533. Ghost Master: Ditto
2534. CuteBold A.: The adventure was pretty fun, and I greatly enjoyed it. Rolling for combat was kinda easy, but got progressively harder
  2535. But yeah
2536. Naacha: I enjoyed this, as well as the company of each of you fine folk.
  2537. CuteBold A.: 10/10, would play a campaign with
  2538. Bruce: likewise
2539. Sverd: Yeah, I agree. This was a solid party with a solid GM and a solid system.
2540. Nobody Important (GM): Well, we'll see. My AdEva game is coming to an end in ~8 sessions, so my schedule'd open up then.
2541. Ghost Master: I wish Hannah was faster, so she could actually support.
2542. Nobody Important (GM): Combat in general just went very, very quickly.
2543. We didn't have a single encounter that lasted more than a round.
2544. Ghost Master: But, that's what the Initiative stuff will be for.
2545. Sverd: Also, we should put a bit more emphasis on music.
  2546. Nobody Important (GM): Seriously.
  2547. CuteBold A.: Yeah
2548. Sverd: We should just make mooks harder to hit and harder to kill.
2549. And bosses a lot harder.
2550. Nobody Important (GM): I'd say bumping Defense to 22 would make it less 'cannot fail' and more 'easy to hit'.
2551. CuteBold A.: Buff to enemies, make fights a little harder, make Music much easier
2552. Nobody Important (GM): Give each of them a strike?
  2553. Ghost Master: Sounds good
2554. Nobody Important (GM): That would require two hits or a devastating hit from a combat monster.
2555. Sverd: No, a regular, shitty faceless mook should have 1 strike.
  2556. A strong mook 2.
2557. Nobody Important (GM): Well, as it stands regular mooks have no strikes
2558. they fold as soon as they're hit.
2559. CuteBold A.: Yeah, the two actions should kinda work out well
2560. Make every upper mook fight like Non One
2561. except a little less dramatic
2562. Sverd: Or rather, no strikes. Mooks shouldn't be able to resist a hit of any kind unless they're good, but they should be harder to hit.
2563. Actually having trouble defeating mooks isn't disney, but missing them is
  2564. y/n
2565. Nobody Important (GM): I'd agree with that.
2566. I'm gonna pastebin this and throw it on /DVV/.
