  1. ===================================================================================================================
  2. Summary: Anonymous is a child that no one can understand, not even Flutters. A policy of noninterference was put in place, and is being enforced by Twilight. Twilight is also documenting Anonymous for any signs of what this strange creature is.
  3.
  4. Last Chapter: Twilight took Anonymous to the Everfree hoping that Anonymous came from there. Instead Anonymous ran back out of the forest to Twilight. Realizing her mistake, Twilight asks Applejack where Anonymous can stay for the night, and Applejack let's Anonymous stay in the empty barn.
  5.
  6. Warning: In order to address my shortcomings in the beginning this chapter is mostly flashback. About 70% is prior to part 1.

  10.
  11. >So there you were in the library…
  12.
  13. >The early sun signals the start of the day.
  14. >You were busy with a new experiment, but it becomes hard to focus.
  15. >Unlike any day ever, you could actually think. It was silent.
  16. >And that scares you.
  17. “Why’s everything so quiet? The town is always busy in the morning.”
  18. >Usually you pray for such peace.
  19.
  20. >When you look out of the window you see everyp0ny just standing there gawking.
  21. >They were all looking out in the same direction.
  22. >You follow their stares…
  23. “HOLY HORSEFEATHERS!”
  24. >You didn’t actually shout that, but it rings out in your mind.
  25. >Your body froze, stupefied.
  26. >Something is out there in the street, something you have never seen before.
  27. >This…thing…it’s just scrutinizing everything.
  28. >What is it?
  29.
  30. >You were as petrified as everyone else.
  31. >Not in actual fear, at the time, but pure surprise.
  32. >Then it makes a horrible noise.
  33.
  34. >Everyp0ny flipped and ran off.
  35. >You and everyone else lock yourselves in your homes
  36. >Except Pinkie. She somehow got into yours.
  37. >You received a second jolt in just as many seconds.
  38. “AHHHHHHHHHHHH!”
  39. >”AHHHHHHHHhhhh-hehehe.”
  40. >Her shift from screaming to crazed giggling was unnerving.
  41. >Her entire body looks like it is at war with itself just trying to keep the energy inside.
  42. >”What is that Twilight? What do you think it is? Should I be scared or excited? It’s new, new-new. Not just a zebra, or donkey, or minotaur, well maybe it’s a minotaur, a young minotaur, have you ever seen one before?”
  43. >You were in no frame of mind to acknowledge her, even if you could keep up.
  44. >Instead you did the only thing you could do.
  45.
  46.
  47. “Spike! Letter to the Princess! NOW!”
  48. >For the briefest of seconds Spike awakes from his basket, and huffs away the letter, immediately falling back asleep.
  49. >”And that noise, it was all RAWRCKRA and I was all like ‘owwy my ears’, and then everyone else was like ‘owwy my ears’ too, and then they all ran, and I ran, and we ran together…”
  50. >Pinkie’s words never really register with you as she continues to ramble on.
  51.
  52. >No one had any idea what the creature was doing at that moment.
  53. >Later accounts told that everyone was hiding in their homes.
  54. >Some said they kept hearing the sounds, but you couldn’t validate that.
  55. >You were too focused on Celestia’s reply.
  56.
  57. ‘Princess Luna, Cadence, and myself are coming and will be there soon. If what you say is true there will be an emergency Meeting of the Princesses.’
  58.
  59. >When she sends a letter without any formalities, that’s when you know she’s serious.
  60. >A Meeting of the Princesses is rare, only called for in the most important of situations.
  61. >Most of the time things are addressed informally.
  62. >You’ve yet to actually be in one; the last meeting was concerning the crystal kingdom.
  63. >This time they were going to be counting on you from the very start.
  64.
  65. “Pinkie, stay right here. I’m going to go meet the Princesses and sort this out.”
  66. >”Kay.”
  67. >Her tone was flat and she gives a squishy nod.
  68. >Does she ever recognize potential danger?
  69.
  70.
  71. >You join the Princesses in the sky between Ponyville and Canterlot.
  72. >In a box formation the four of you take position above the creature, and begin circling it.
  73. >Each of you fixates on its movements, and minutes pass as you all just watch, taking in the scene.
  74. >“It seems you are right, Twilight. This is something entirely new.”
  75. >There is no sound of concern in Celestia’s voice, but it is laced with heavy consideration.
  76. >”Sister, have you never seen anything like that before?”
  77. >”I have not, Luna. It looks like a mix of other creatures.”
  78. >Cadence seemed particularly worried at Celestia’s description.
  79. >”Do you mean like a Chimera?”
  80. >”Not quite. It seems to be a uniform creature rather than separate entities merged into one.”
  81. >Cadence wipes her brow and sighs in relief.
  82. >You could never remember which part of a Chimera she was afraid of.
  83.
  84. >Remembering the barest of Pinkie’s words, you offer your own suggestion.
  85. “It looks kind of like a minotaur. Is it possibly a young one?”
  86. >”It is unlike any minotaurs we have ever seen. It has no horns, and looks to rely more on hide than fur.”
  87. >Luna shot that down quickly, Celestia and Cadence nodded in agreement.
  88. “Wait a minute. My friend Fluttershy will be able to talk to it.”
  89. >”Ah yes, the Element of Kindness. Our sister has told us of her talents.”
  90. >”That’s a good idea, Twilight. Go get her while we keep watch over the creature.”
  91. >Celestia didn’t have to ask twice.
  92. >You fly off to get Fluttershy as quickly as possible.
  93.
  94.
  95. >Arriving at Fluttershy’s cottage, you dive down and start banging on the door before you even make landfall.
  96. >By the time your hooves touch the ground the vigor in your knocking is like a possessed drum.
  97. >The door flexes in and out from your abuse, but nobody comes.
  98. >That’s when you decide to just let yourself in.
  99. >With a slam of the door, you burst into the room with a shout.
  100. “FLUTTERSHY!”
  101. >No answer.
  102. >Is she still in bed? Who, besides Spike, could sleep through all of this?
  103. >Ignoring any standards concerning privacy, you fly through the house.
  104. >Nothing.
  105.
  106. >Think, Twilight, think.
  107. >What is Fluttershy’s routine?
  108. >Wake up, feed animals.
  109. >Play with animals, feed animals.
  110. >Relax with animals, maybe shop, feed animals.
  111. >Bed.
  112. >Of course!
  113. >You take to the skies and begin investigating the nearby area.
  114. >You really like these new wings. It’s so easy to search from up here.
  115. >There she is; roaming near the woods!
  116.
  117. >She’s oblivious to your approach, but the sound barrier is feeling a little annoyed.
  118. “FLUTTERSHY!!!!”
  119. >Like a hollering missile you have found your target.
  120. >Finally noticing you, she can only look on in horror.
  121. >Her eyes go wide, and you can see her body tighten up.
  122. >Careening past her, you crash straight into the ground, leaving a long streak of torn grass.
  123.
  124. >”Oh, Twilight. Are you okay?”
  125. >Her tone is considerably softer than your landing.
  126. >Rainbow had warned you about going fast.
  127. >Stupid wings.
  128. “I’m fine.”
  129. >You pick yourself right back up, and shake off the dirt and pain. There are important things to do.
  130. “Fluttershy, I need you to come with me right now!”
  131. >”Um…okay. Why?”
  132. “There’s a new monster in Ponyville, and we need you to talk to it!”
  133. >“Oh my. Um, Twilight? Are you sure you’re using that word correctly this time?”
  134. “ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY, 100%”
  135. >”O-okay then. “
  136.
  137.
  138. >Fluttershy begins accompanying you to Ponyville.
  139. >Her pace is maddeningly slow; there’s a crisis going on here.
  140. >You should have just teleported the two of you.
  141. >That’s it! You’ll teleport.
  142. >With no warning you latch onto Fluttershy.
  143. >”Ee..”
  144. >In a flash you both reappear next to the ring of Princesses.
  145. >”..ep.”
  146.
  147. >It takes a second for Fluttershy to realize where she is, and whose company she is in.
  148. >”H-hi Princesses.”
  149. >With a bow of her head she joins the party hovering over the creature.
  150. >”Greetings, gentle Fluttershy. We have need of your assistance.”
  151. >”Hello, Fluttershy, it’s nice to see you again.”
  152. >The royal sisters return a slight nod.
  153. >Cadence offers a smile and wave.
  154. >”It’s been a while. I hope things have been good.”
  155. >”Yes, well, Twilight told me you needed my help.”
  156. >Fluttershy was managing herself okay, but she tries to avert the attention back on you.
  157. >But Luna is not so easily distracted.
  158.
  159. >”That is correct. Below us is a creature unlike any before, and we are hoping you can speak with it.”
  160. >Cadence instantly joins in.
  161. >”We heard it make some strange noises while Twilight was getting you. It doesn’t sound like anything we’ve ever heard before.”
  162. >Followed by Celestia.
  163. >”The sounds don’t resemble any other dialects either.”
  164. “But you’ll be able to talk with it, Fluttershy.”
  165. >You have utter faith in your friend.
  166. >”I’ll try.”
  167.
  168. >Fluttershy looks down and notices the creature for the first time.
  169. >She gives an audible gulp before flying down towards it.
  170. >You decide to join her, while the other three remain up high.
  171. >She hovers a short distance from its face, and you follow her example.
  172. >The creature pulls into itself a little as you two approach. Its hands raised near its face in a loosely balled fist.
  173.
  174.
  175. >”Hello. My name is Fluttershy. What’s your name?”
  176. >The creature just looks at her, peering through the corners of its eyes, barely visible with its turned head.
  177. >Its deep gaze pierces Fluttershy, its attention stuck on her face.
  178. >The irises slowly crawl over her, taking in her full form.
  179. >The creature’s arms begin to unravel, and one of the hands reaches out towards her with those chubby fingers.
  180. >To her credit, Fluttershy hasn’t backed away, and is holding firm.
  181. >Her features accepting; her pose welcoming the contact.
  182.
  183. >You can only look on in awe.
  184. >All other thoughts are gone from your brain as you observe every little motion.
  185. >This is her specialty. Leave it to the expert.
  186. >The hand makes contact with one of Fluttershy’s front legs.
  187. >Instantly the creature screams.
  188.
  189. >Fluttershy recoils from the scare, withdrawing her entire body.
  190. >As if in retaliation, the creature makes a grab for her.
  191. >Without missing a beat, you fire up your horn and shove the creature away with your magic.
  192. >You step between Fluttershy and it, flaring out your wings and lowering your head.
  193. >That thing could have hurt Fluttershy!
  194.
  195. >”Twilight!”
  196. >Her benign voice snaps you out of your protective stance.
  197. “Fluttershy, are you okay?”
  198. >”I’m fine. You shouldn’t push it around like that.”
  199. >Your wings shift back down to half-mast. Your horn once more pointed skyward.
  200. “It could be dangerous!”
  201. >”It was just reacting to me, Twilight. It surprised me, and I made a sudden move. The poor thing’s just scared; it was my fault.”
  202. “How can you be sure?”
  203. >”It’s alone, and by the looks of it the thing is searching for something; probably more of its kind. How would you feel in its place?”
  204. >If this thing is truly all alone, you would feel pretty vulnerable in the same situation.
  205. >Keep Fluttershy’s words in your mind. Learn from her.
  206. >It’s scared, and it’s just reacting.
  207.
  208.
  209. >Having defused the situation, Fluttershy fully lands on the ground and daintily approaches the creature.
  210. >It has moved back a bit, but is no longer curling into itself.
  211. >It stands at full height, watching the two of you intently, but it is half turned away.
  212. >As Fluttershy gets closer the creature takes another step back, but she is closing the distance.
  213. >When she is right in front of it, she stops and holds out her hoof.
  214. >The creature twists to fully face her. With them lined up, you notice that it is just barely taller than her.
  215.
  216. >As if experiencing déjà vu, it again reaches out and touches Fluttershy’s extended hoof.
  217. >It makes the same scream again, but this time Fluttershy does not pull away.
  218. >The creature starts patting her hoof, and keeps making those noises.
  219. >You can see Fluttershy practically gnashing her teeth trying to ignore it.
  220. >”Yes, that’s…um…that thing you’re talking about for you.”
  221.
  222. >AHA! She did it!
  223. >She’s talking with it!
  224. “What’s it saying? What is it? Where did it come from?”
  225. >”I have no idea.”
  226. >What?!
  227. “How come?”
  228. >”I can’t understand it.”
  229. >What does she mean she can’t understand it?
  230. >You’ve seen her talk to all manner of things.
  231. “Try asking it something!”
  232.
  233. >”Okay, um…where did you come from?”
  234. >The creature just keeps patting her hoof, but it did stop making those noises.
  235. >”Did you come from nearby? Are you alone?”
  236. >Its second hand reaches up and begins patting around Fluttershy’s neck.
  237. >It makes a short gruesome groan as it stares at her mane.
  238. >You can’t help but take a step back, and flatten your ears.
  239. >Fluttershy does her best to keep calm and remain motionless.
  240. “Well?”
  241.
  242. >”It didn’t say anything.”
  243. “Didn’t say anything? But it just made that awful noise!”
  244. >”I don’t know what that was.”
  245. >How can she not know?
  246. >This is her special talent!
  247.
  248.
  249. >”It’s different from everything else. It feels…oh what’s a good word to use? Otherworldly.”
  250. >Otherworldly; foreign; supernatural; uncanny; unearthly; alien.
  251. “Huh?”
  252. >”I can’t explain it.”
  253. “But earlier you knew it was scared.”
  254. >”Creature’s don’t always talk to me, Twilight. Whether they are purposefully ignoring me, or they are unable to, they don’t use words. But you can still hear what they say by observing them. Read their bodies, not their words.”
  255. >She’s has taken her eyes off of the creature and is looking straight at you.
  256. >”It looked scared, and it reacted like a scared animal would. That’s how I knew.”
  257.
  258. >That makes sense. Why did you never ask her about her talent before?
  259. >She recognizes it as a scared animal, and it is working.
  260. “But they always understand you, right?”
  261. >”Yes, creatures are very smart. They can understand us just fine.”
  262. >That’s true; you’ve even seen insects understand Rainbow Dash when she held that silly competition.
  263.
  264. >Alright then.
  265. >Time to represent your fellow ponies.
  266. “Hello, monster-thing-creature. I am Princess Twilight Sparkle. Welcome to Ponyville. We don’t mean you any harm; we just want to help you. Could you please nod your head or something to show that you understand?”
  267. >The creature doesn’t even look at you. The nerve!
  268. “Fluttershy, you try.”
  269. >”Um…what did you say? Mister or miss’s creature, could you give us some idea how to help you?”
  270. >It doesn’t even acknowledge her either.
  271. >It just keeps playing with Fluttershy’s fur.
  272.
  273. “It doesn’t look like it gets it.”
  274. >”That is strange. I can’t say if it does or not. Either way, it doesn’t seem interested.”
  275. >It reacts like an animal, it is scared like an animal, but it doesn’t recognize words like an animal.
  276. >Just what is going on inside that thing’s head?
  277.
  278.
  279. “What about those things on its body? They look a lot like clothes.”
  280. >”Could be natural; for camouflage or protection. Or maybe it or someone dressed it up?”
  281. >It sure isn’t blending into anything. It could possibly hide in Rarity’s closet.
  282. >This creature can’t grasp words, but can make, and put on clothes itself? You highly doubt that.
  283. >It can’t be a pet; that would be too simple. There is no way none of the Princesses would have heard about it if it was a pet.
  284. >It has to be a natural form of protection.
  285.
  286. >”Maybe it doesn’t want our help? It might be fine on its own.”
  287. “What would you suggest? Has this happened before?”
  288. >”Well no, but sometimes a creature just doesn’t want to be bothered. Usually wild animals are observed and studied at a distance. That way they can act naturally.”
  289. >If that is how it’s normally done, then that’s what we’ll do.
  290. >We’ll leave it alone, study it from a distance, and hopefully everything will solve itself.
  291. >But there is still a major concern.
  292.
  293. “Do you think it’s dangerous?”
  294. >She turns her attention back to the creature stroking her mane.
  295. >”I don’t know. It doesn’t seem to be, but there are a lot of creatures that hide their defenses. Like poisons, or claws, or needles. It doesn’t strike me as aggressive.”
  296. >That was not the kind of answer you were hoping for.
  297. >”It’s like…OW!”
  298. >Your confusion immediately disappears in exchange for an elevated sense of awareness.
  299. >You see the creature’s fingers intertwined in Fluttershy’s mane.
  300. >Shooting out a blast of magic, you and her teleport back up to where the other Princesses are.
  301.
  302.
  303. “Are you alright Fluttershy?”
  304. >”Yes, I believe so. It just pulled on my mane a bit.”
  305. >The other three quickly swarm around the two of you.
  306. >”So what did you find out? Is it safe?”
  307. >Cadence seemed to be a mix of anxious and concerned.
  308. “It doesn’t recognize speech, and not even Fluttershy could talk to it. She says it felt ‘Otherworldly’.”
  309. >”Yes…uh….I can’t really describe it. It’s just completely different from anything I’ve seen or heard before.”
  310.
  311. >All three of the other Princesses’ nod their head in agreement.
  312. >”Yes, that seems to be the case for all of us.”
  313. >Celestia takes another look at the creature.
  314. >Not wanting to be left out, you nod your head as well.
  315. >Luna surveys the vacant streets.
  316. >”So what shall we do? This is not an acceptable state of affairs.”
  317.
  318. >You have the answer to that!
  319. “We’ll adopt a policy of noninterference. We will take the creature away from the town, and just watch it from a distance. It will go about as it naturally does, and it should go home all on its own. Then we can use what we learned to decide what to do next.”
  320. >The Princesses put your suggestion to thought.
  321. >Luna looks less then pleased.
  322. >”The people cannot just remain in their homes until the creature decides to leave. They have their daily lives to attend to.”
  323. “We can just tell them to not directly interact with it. As long as the creature stays out of the town there should be no problem.”
  324. >Cadence was bobbing her head back and forth like a scale.
  325. >”And what if it does come into town?”
  326. >She sounds in favor of the idea, but not totally convinced just yet.
  327.
  328.
  329. “Then we TEMPORARILY have everyp0ny go back inside. We do know the creature is susceptible to magic, and it looks to be placid.”
  330. >”We did see you push it aside with magic, and teleport away rather franticly. How placid exactly?”
  331. >Hehehe…..Luna has you on that one.
  332. “That was a minor misunderstanding.”
  333. >Feel free to help at anytime Fluttershy.
  334. >You make a quick glance beside you, and see that she is no longer there.
  335. >She has flown away from the circle, deciding not to take part in the meeting.
  336. >Guess it’s just the Princesses after all.
  337. >Maybe that’s how it should be.
  338.
  339. >Since this is an official Meeting of the Princesses, it all comes down to the end vote.
  340. >Each Princess has 25% voting power, but that’s more of a symbol.
  341. >The goal is for a unanimous decision, and counting percentage only happens when it is positively necessary.
  342. >You think this plan will work; you KNOW this plan will work.
  343. >The creature will get bored eventually, and just go home.
  344. >Then everything will be normal again, and you will have a bunch of new information to work with.
  345. >You will have brought a quick solution, and proven yourself as a Princess.
  346. >Maybe they’ll name the creature after you!
  347.
  348. >”So you suggest we leave this….anonymous creature alone to run wild?”
  349. >Confound you, Luna!
  350. >”Is that what we’re calling it now?”
  351. >No, Cadence, it’s going to be the…um….what works with your name?
  352. >”That is fine with me. It really needed a name.”
  353. >Oh horsefeathers. That makes all three.
  354. “Anonymous works.”
  355.
  356. >”As for the plan, I trust in Twilight.”
  357. >Oh thank you Celestia. You always knew you could count on her.
  358. >”I have my doubts, but I believe in Twilight.”
  359. >Cadence always was your second favorite Princess.
  360.
  361.
  362. >”I cannot so easily agree. This is a very serious situation.”
  363. >”You are right, Luna, it is a very serious situation. We should all remain in town until the matter is solved.”
  364. >Celestia was so fast in answering, you didn’t even have the chance to think how to answer Luna’s doubt yourself, and she just keeps going.
  365. >”We will each go back to our palace, and speak with our stewards. They shall maintain the kingdom while we remain here. Twilight, since you are the most capable at note-taking you will be the one to observe Anonymous. We will inform the mayor and the citizens of the plan on our way home, and should be back before nightfall. Does that ease your concerns, sister?”
  366.
  367. >Your body is riddled with Pinkie levels of enthusiasm, but Luna has not truly voted yet.
  368. >”If that is to be the plan then I can agree. I will put my faith in my friend Twilight.”
  369. >It passed! It passed!
  370. >”That should be everything, assuming, of course, Twilight agrees with her own plan.”
  371. >Cadence gives you a playful nudge.
  372. >Oh right.
  373. “I do!”
  374. *pomf*
  375. >Easy girl, your excitement is showing.
  376. >”Then let us be on our way. Twilight, we leave the rest to you.”
  377. > Celestia takes off towards the town center, followed by Luna and Cadence.
  378.
  379. >You can barely contain yourself, and immediately fly up to Fluttershy and grab her as your dancing partner.
  380. “It passed, Fluttershy! My idea passed!”
  381. >You wildly bob up and down in the air with her.
  382. >”That’s very nice. Could we stop dancing, please?”
  383. >You try to reign yourself in, but it’s so hard. This is like the biggest thing EVER!
  384. >After a few more dance steps you let go and collect yourself.
  385. “Sorry Fluttershy, guess I got a little carried away.”
  386. >Her eyes are spinning in their socket, and she seems a little wobbly.
  387. >You may have overdone it a little.
  388. >”That’s okay. So what’s the plan?”
  389.
  390.
  391. >Oh right, she flew away from the meeting.
  392. >Fluttershy could help, but she can’t do magic.
  393. >She would just let Anonymous walk up on her and start doing who knows what.
  394. >She even said herself she doesn’t know how dangerous it is. You would have to watch her more than Anonymous.
  395. >You should send her home, for her own safety.
  396. “The plan is for everyone to stay in their house, and I’ll watch over Anonymous from afar. Hopefully, the creature will go home on its own.”
  397. >”Anonymous?”
  398. “Not my choice.”
  399. >”Are you sure you don’t want me to stick around and help?”
  400. “No, no, don’t you worry about it. I have everything under control. Now you get back home to your animal friends. Go on.”
  401. >You give her a nudge to encourage her to get moving. She picks up on the hint and starts flying home.
  402. >”Okay. I’ll be at my cottage if you need me.”
  403. >You got this.
  404.
  405. >First things first. You have to get Anonymous out of the streets.
  406. >Looking back down you see that it hasn’t really moved much.
  407. >Sailing to the ground you land in front of it and charge up your horn.
  408. “Easy there, we are going to leave you alone. We just have to get you out of town. Then you won’t have to be scared anymore.”
  409. >You gingerly lift up the creature with your magic, and begin marching to the outskirts.
  410. >It’s not far, but the creature immediately starts with those screams again.
  411. >Having a plan to observe from a distance was one of the smartest things you’ve ever done.
  412. >There is no way you could tolerate that for long.
  413.
  414.
  415. >Setting the creature down you take off for home.
  416. >Pinkie is still in your house, standing in the exact same spot from before you left.
  417. >Sometimes….just sometimes….
  418. >That’s not important now, but telling her the plan is VERY important.
  419. “Okay, Pinkie, listen up. It is crucial, NAY vital, that you go back to your house and stay inside. Go home right now, close the door, and wait. We’ll have this all sorted out in no time, don’t you worry.”
  420. >”Alright, Twilight. I’ll cya in 6 hours~”
  421. “It probably won’t be that soon, Pinkie.”
  422. >She’s already gone.
  423. >You’re just going to ignore that.
  424.
  425. >You rush upstairs and grab your telescope from the window.
  426. >Spike has finally decided to wake up.
  427. >How does he sleep through everything?
  428. “Oh Spike, I’m so glad you’re awake. I’m going to need some help from my #1 assistant. There’s this new creature nearby you see, and it has, of course, fallen on me to figure out what it is. Why, it could be a recent new species, or one long thought extinct, or maybe some weird result of a transformation spell. You know, like the one with the oranges I was working on. Oh if it is imagine the breakthrough; full body manipulation!”
  429. >”New creature, huh?”
  430. “Yes, it’s right on the edge of town, but it’s very important you stay away from it. We don’t know for sure how dangerous it is.”
  431. >”Dangerous?!”
  432. >That got his attention.
  433. “Yup, but don’t worry you’ll be perfectly safe so long as you stay inside.”
  434.
  435. >You set the telescope on your balcony, grab a quill and some parchment, and set to work.
  436. 1 hour into observation….
  437.
  438.
  439. >You look down at your gathered notes from on top of the farm.
  440. >Is that really how it is?
  441. >After the meeting with the Princesses and Fluttershy you pretty much took everything upon yourself.
  442. >You didn’t really consider how your friends could help, especially Fluttershy.
  443. >She gave you the idea for the plan in the first place, and she is the most capable for this kind of thing, but you wanted to be the one watching over Anonymous.
  444. >You’ve been letting this Princess thing, and the discovery of Anonymous get to your head.
  445. >These are your friends; they’ve been there for you through so much, and they’ll never stop being there for you.
  446. >Tomorrow morning you’re going to go to Fluttershy’s; apologize; and ask for her help.
  447.
  448. >The creak of the barn door snaps you out of your reminiscing.
  449. >Anonymous is leaving the barn; twigs snap under its feet as it moves towards the fields.
  450. >What is it doing at this hour?
  451. >Keeping an eye on Anonymous, you lift up a quill and scroll.
  452. >Anonymous does something with its lower half you can’t make out, then squats down.
  453. >What could it be….Oh.
  454. >As realization hits you, you turn your head to give it some privacy.
  455. >A little while later there’s a rustling of leaves, and Anonymous returns to the barn.
  456. >It heads back inside and puts the door back in its place.
  457.
  458. >Yeah, that’s important for everybody.
  459. >You look up to see the moon beginning to descend.
  460. >It’s been a long night, and in a way it was very productive.
  461. >You did not learn much about Anonymous, but you did learn an important lesson to help you in the days to come.
  462. >And that deserves some sleep.
  463.
  464.
  465. >Princess Twilight Sparkle is sleeping.
  466. >You can sense her dreams as you carry the moon through the night.
  467. >Flying over the barn, you try to make some guess as to the situation.
  468. >You did have faith in Twilight, but you could not stand being uninvolved.
  469. >Though you did promise your sister not to bother Twilight.
  470. >Of your own volition you will stay out of her dreams as well, unless she has need of you.
  471.
  472. >Unable to gather anything you return to the town hall.
  473. >Celestia is still awake, and going through some scrolls.
  474. >That does not please you, and there appears to be no Cadence around either.
  475. “Sister, you should be in bed.”
  476. >She sets the current scroll in her magical hold to the side, and her horn ceases to glow.
  477. >”I suppose you’re right, Luna.”
  478. “Where is Cadence?”
  479. >”Shining Armor’s train with some of the royal guards just got in, and I wanted to let her be there to greet him.”
  480. >Well, if that leaves just the two of you there is something you’ve been meaning to discuss.
  481.
  482. “I still remain unconvinced of this plan.”
  483. >Celestia lets out a deep sigh, either tired from the long hours or the upcoming discussion.
  484. >”Why is that Luna?”
  485. “Twilight is still young, and she has just become a Princess. I was in full agreement of splitting all of our voting power to include her on the meetings, but this is a momentous situation. She needs more time to…”
  486. >”Luna, she has proven herself many times. Have faith in her.”
  487.
  488.
  489. “We-I do have faith in her, but…”
  490. >”How long do you plan to be around, Luna? Not just due to age, but what about when you want to just go out and see the world again? Do we just hope Twilight is okay by then, or that Cadence is able to help guide her? There is only one of Anonymous, Anonymous has appeared near the safest town, all four Princesses are around, and the Elements all live here as well. We couldn’t PLAN a better scenario. Instead of worrying you should be wishing we had it this easy for Cadence.”
  491.
  492. >When she puts it like that it does make sense, but still…
  493. “Even so, how can you tolerate just leaving her on her own like that?”
  494. >Her calm demeanor falls to a forlorn gaze.
  495. >She is not even looking at you anymore, but rather through you.
  496. >"The hardest thing is to sit back and watch, even when you know it's the right thing to do."
  497. >So it pains her as much as you. You always admired your sister, always and truly.
  498. >She easily rises from her seat.
  499. >“I suppose it’s time for bed.”
  500. >She continues on towards her makeshift room, but keeps addressing you.
  501. >”One day, Luna, you’ll learn the importance of a light touch.”
  502.
  503. >You’ll hold the night for a little longer.
  504. >Even the wisest need proper sleep.
  505. >Celestia pauses at the door and tries to fight off a small giggle.
  506. >You have come to fear that giggle.
  507. >”You know, Twilight did send me a letter when we first got back to the castle.”
  508. “What did it say?”
  509. >”She was asking for my advice.”
  510. ”And?”
  511. >”I sent her one of my doodles.”
  512. >What?!
  513. “Was that wise?”
  514. >”There haven’t been any reports since, so I guess everything’s fine.”
  515. >The same giggle returns with a little more vigor.
  516. >”I can only imagine how she reacted.”
  517. >Sometimes your sister scares you.
