  1. >It had been a couple months now
  2. >Countless raids, fights, and sleepless nights had done nothing to break his resolve
  3. >Luckily, none of the White Fang managed to figure out he was human
  4. >At least, not yet
  5. >But now, they were finally doing something that would change things, or so he was told
  6. >"Alright let's go over this again. This is a stealth op. In and out, no noise. That means you."
  7. >The leader of the mission looked right at him
  8. >"Don't use that thing unless we're already discovered. Got it?"
  9. >"Yes sir."
  10. >'Great,' he thought, 'Another damn stealth op.'
  11. >It wasn't that he didn't have or couldn't use another weapon, but why would he when he had his?
  12. >Regardless, he was ready
  13. >"I'm sure I don't have to go over the target again."
  14. >Everyone nodded, and readied themselves to head out
  15.
  16. >A group of five crouched on the top of a hill overlooking a small complex near a set of train tracks
  17. >The leader nodded to the others and gave the signal
  18. >A four-man squad descended upon a small building near the rear of the fenced-in area
  19. >The fifth stayed on the hill, watching them and ready to provide a distraction or cover if needed
  20. >He was at the back of the group, doing his best to follow them and not run into anything
  21. >Night ops were always the worst
  22. >The Faunus preferred them due to their night vision advantage, but their advantage was his disadvantage
  23. >The leader held up his hand, and the two Faunus stopped, causing him to bump into them
  24. >"Dammit man, pay attention," one whispered
  25. >"Sorry."
  26. >The leader shakes his head and gives the signal
  27. >One of the Faunus grabs the handle on the building's door and opens it
  28. >"Hey, shift change alread-"
  29. >They rush in, slitting the throats of the two security guards before they can turn around
  30.
  31. >"Alright. The information we need should be in this building."
  32. >The leader points to one of the monitors, showing a fairly unguarded building opposite them
  33. >"We'll slip in, get the data, and get out. You two, just lay low keep the guard sation quiet.
  34. >He and one of the Faunus nods as the other two slip back outside
  35. >"So.. Just how heavy is that thing?"
  36. >He shrugs, "Not very."
  37. >".. Not very talkative are ya?"
  38. >He shrugs again, glancing at the security monitors
  39. >"So, what kinda Faunus are you anyways? You got some kinda super nose under that mask or something? Hahah."
  40. >"Why's it matter?"
  41. >"It don't. Just wonderin'. Everyone else's got pretty noticable features. Everyone 'cept you."
  42. >"Look, I just-"
  43. >"This is Patrol 23, we've spotted some tracks leading into the base, we're going to investigate, over."
  44. >"Shit, they're on to us."
  45. >"Control, please acknowledge."
  46. >"What do we do?!"
  47. >"Uh. I don't-"
  48. "Control we are on our way, over."
  49.
  50. >"Shit, get ready."
  51. >The two ready their weapons, taking positions on each side of the door.
  52. >They held their breath as they waited for the patrol
  53. >Soon the door swung open
  54. >The two men of Patrol 23 looked into the room and sighed before walking in
  55. >"Common Control, the least you could do is-"
  56. >The two dead bodies in the chairs fell over as the Faunus grabbed the guards, slitting their throats and lowering their bodies to the ground
  57. >"That was close."
  58. >"They'll be on to us now."
  59. >"Let's go help get the data so we can get the fuck outta here."
  60. >He nodded and closed the door to the security booth as they headed off to join the others
  61.
  62. >Sneaking their way through the complex, they slowly made their way to the other building
  63. >Getting their undetected, they slowly open the door and slip inside
  64. >"Hey, Captain." The Faunus whispered, not knowing if there were any guards still alive
  65. >"What are you two doing here?" Their leader called out from the other side of the building, not turning away from the computer he was hacking
  66. >"They're going to be on us soon. One of the patrols radio'd about our tracks and uh, went silent after reaching the security booth."
  67. >"Dammit. I just need two minutes. Keep them occupied until we get in."
  68. >"Got it."
  69. >The Faunus gently smacks his chest
  70. >"Let's get something in front of this door."
  71. >"What about our escape?"
  72. >"We can use the skylight. Let's go."
  73. >The two quickly push a few filing cabinets in front of the door, then position a desk under the skylight so they have an exit.
  74. >"How much longer?"
  75. >"Almost there!"
  76. >"Alright, let's hurry up and-"
  77.
  78. >A loud thud emanates from the doorway as the guards finally figure out what's going on
  79. >"Shit, we've gotta hold them."
  80. >"I know."
  81. >He slides the sword in it's sheath as he takes the chainsaw off his back
  82. >The door bursts open, sending the cabinets crashing to the ground just as the buzz of his saw echos in the room
  83. >A guard runs into the room, only to have the saw enter his left shoulder, cutting him straight through to his right side
  84. >He falls to the ground as another runs in, only to get decapitated by the faunus
  85. >They nod to each other as more guards enter the room, firing their guns, but never managing to hit anyone as the pair quickly work through their numbers
  86. >"Got it, let's go!"
  87. >The leader quickly pulls a device from the computer and runs towards them, only to jump onto the table and up through the skylight
  88. >"You heard him man, let's go!"
  89. >He nods and kicks the guard in front of him, sending him into a group trying to enter the room and sending them all tumbling
  90. >He quickly slings his chainsaw over his back and turns to jump onto the table
  91.
  92. >A guard manages to regain himself enough that he grabs at his leg, causing his jump to send him face first into the table
  93. >His faunus counterparts had already made their escape, but one stopped and turned, looking into the skylight
  94. >"Let's go!"
  95. >The faunus gasped
  96. >His face hitting the table had caused his mask to fall off
  97. >He looked up into the faunus' eyes only to quickly look down and kick the guard off his leg
  98. >He grabbed the mask and hastily put it back on before jumping, just managing to catch the roof and pull himself up
  99. >"You're a.."
  100. >The faunus stared at him before shaking his head and turning
  101. >"We gotta go, come on."
  102. >The two quickly leap from the roof and run back the way they came, leaving the complex and rejoining the others on the hill
  103.
  104. >It had been five hours since the raid
  105. >After returning to the White Fang, the faunus had him tied up and sat around, wondering what to do with him
  106. >Adam wasn't here, and he wouldn't be for a while
  107. >So what were they going to do with him?
  108. >"Let's just kill him. He's probably a spy."
  109. >"What if he's not?"
  110. >"Why else would a fucking human be here? They hate us!"
  111. >"Maybe he's got a reason.."
  112. >"And what could that possibly be? There's no way he'd willingly kill his own kind like that."
  113. >"So why else would he be here?"
  114. >"I don't fucking know. But there's gotta be something he's not telling us. A plot or an ambish or something!"
  115. >"Why don't we ask him?"
  116. >"Ask him?! You wanna just ask him?!"
  117. >"Why not?"
  118.
  119. >He looked up from his chair up as the door to the interrogation room opened
  120. >"Alright human. Why did you join the White Fang?"
  121. >".. Why did I join?"
  122. >"Yes dumb ass, why did you join?"
  123. >"How could I not? Every day Faunus' are getting mistreated, abused, and killed just because they look different. It doesn't matter if they're women or children, or.. not even born yet.. And that needs to stop! I'm just one human, and on my own, I can't do much, but I know what I can do, and I know that we can change how people interact with Faunus, and I know that won't happen until those in control are put down. And I know that those who do such cruel things won't stop, even if we manage to get laws into place. Murders don't stop because there's a law in place, so they need to be dealt with. Eliminated."
  124. >"What would you know about our struggle, human? You've probably never had a hard day in your life!"
  125.
  126. >"... You're right. Mostly. I can't say I know what it's like to live in a world that treats you like trash, wondering if today's the day you get killed for being alive. But don't you DARE think that I haven't felt pain. I lost my family to humans who think Faunus should be killed. My baby never even got to be born because of the hatred over something as petty as race. My wife is dead because of the way the world is, and I'll be damned if I let another person feel the way I felt that day so long as I live!"
  127. >He had stood up half way through his speech, and as the last words left his mouth in a flurried yell, he raised his tied hands up and brought them down on the table, breaking it in half with ease
  128. >He stood doubled over, his breathing rough as a tear feel from under his mask
  129. >The Faunus looked between him and the shattered table before the one who wanted him dead walked forward and untied him before patting him on the back
  130. >".. I'm sorry.. It's alright now. You're one of us. We're with you."
  131. >Everyone suddenly turned to a familiar voice in the door way
  132. >"I told you it wouldn't matter that you were human."
