  1. Luna and Celestia - Luna's Revenge
  2. Luna's son is killed.
  3.
  4. >A storm ravaged Canterlot.
  5. >Celestia could hear it beating on the walls of the castle as she strode down the corridors.
  6. >There was naught a servant to be seen.
  7. >They had been scarce in this wing for weeks now.
  8. >Tales of Luna's anger were legend.
  9. >Which is why Celestia had to hurry.
  10. >The corridors to Luna's suite were packed with Night Guards.
  11. >The Captain of the Guard had demanded triple duty throughout the castle.
  12. >There were at least twice that many here.
  13. >As she passed the guard each bowed respectfully.
  14. >But she could still feel the undercurrent of resentment and anger mixed with energy flowing in the halls.
  15. >Something was happening tonight.
  16. >Celestia arrived at Luan's suite to find the Captain of the Night Guard waiting for her.
  17. >He bowed.
  18. >"You won't be able to stop her any longer Your Highness."
  19. >Celestia stopped moving as he spoke.
  20. >It had been a long time since any of her guard had spoken to her so.
  21. "That may be true."
  22. >She turned her head towards him.
  23. "But I must try. For her sake"
  24. >The door guards stepped aside as she entered.
  25.
  26. >The antechamber was only dim long enough to cast a light spell.
  27. >The room was a blur as Celestia moved through it, pushing open the door to Luna's bedroom.
  28. >Celestia's eyes gave a cursory glance around the room.
  29. >She didn't have to look to find her sister.
  30. >She knew exactly where she was.
  31. >Where she had been in the three weeks since the storm started.
  32. >Celestia trotted over to the balcony.
  33. >There she was.
  34. >The rain lashed at her in fury.
  35. >The wind blew, trying to drag her down.
  36. >The thunder boomed as if to force her to cower from it.
  37. >But the Princess of the Night stood firm.
  38. >Even with her black coat plastered to her and her mane blowing in a gale she stood as a rock against an ocean.
  39. "But I worry she may wear down"
  40. >This utterance could not be heard over the wind.
  41. >Thankfully.
  42. "Sister!"
  43. >No response, not even an ear flick.
  44. "Luna! Please come in so that we may talk!"
  45. >A black head turned enough so that one teal eye could look at Celestia.
  46. >Celestia suppressed a shiver.
  47. >The head turned back to the horizon and Celestia feared that she would be ignored once more.
  48. >After a few more moments the black mare turned around and walked towards the relieved Celestia.
  49.
  50. >Celestia backed away as Luna entered the room.
  51. >Her very presence seemed to deepen the shadows cast by Celestia's light spell.
  52. >"What is it that you would like to speak of Celestia"
  53. >The lack of emotion in the sentence sent a pang through Celestia's heart.
  54. >Seeing her sister this way was hurtful.
  55. >But she had a reason to be here.
  56. "I want you to reconsider your course of action"
  57. >Luna walked past Celestia with a steady step.
  58. >"No."
  59. >Celestia was taken aback.
  60. >It had been centuries since anyone, even Luna had dared to say no to her like that.
  61. >She shook her head.
  62. "Please Luna. I know that you're angry. But we can still find a diplo-"
  63. >Luna's eyes blazed with rage as she whipped around to Celestia.
  64. >"I have given you weeks to find a diplomatic solution! And what do you have to show for it?"
  65. "I-"
  66. >"Nothing!"
  67. >Luna began to turn again.
  68. "Luna, I understand that you are hurt-"
  69. >A sneer pulled itself across Luna's features.
  70. >"Understand? You, who deems herself too pure to have children?"
  71. >That struck deep.
  72. >"You, who would grant those who kill our blood clemency?!"
  73. >Luna bared her teeth, revealing her now sharpened fangs.
  74. >"You understand nothing!"
  75. >Celestia took in a shaky breath.
  76. "Luna, your son-"
  77. >"He died for me 'Tia!"
  78. >A hoof slammed into the tile, shattering it.
  79. >"He died protecting me!"
  80. >Luna's coat seemed to gather the darkness to her as she approached closer to Celestia.
  81. >"They have killed my Blood and I have Judged them. Do you seek to deny my Judgement?"
  82.
  83. >Celestia took another deep breath as the midnight mare stood eye to eye with her.
  84. "No Luna. I came to see if there is any way to prevent further bloodshed. I see now that that was a foolhardy hope"
  85. >Celestia looked into Luna's eyes.
  86. "I will not stand in your way. You will have the Solar Guard behind you"
  87. >Luna turned away.
  88. >"Nay 'Tia. I have no need of your men. This is not a war. I will not claim any land to hold"
  89. >Celestia followed as Luna walked to a map on a table.
  90. >The nation that had sent their assassin after Luna.
  91. >Or, more precisely, Nightmare Moon as she would be known after this day.
  92. >In the hopes of weakening Equestria.
  93. >It was a fairly standard invasion map.
  94. >But something was odd about it.
  95. >"As they have stolen my Blood, I will steal their's."
  96. >Celestia's eyes widened in understanding.
  97. "You don't mean..."
  98. >"The world will remember what it means to attack my family"
  99. >She was going to raze the nation to the ground.
  100. >The door behind them opened softly.
  101. >"Your Highness, preparations are complete"
  102. >Luna nodded towards the guard and she began walking towards him.
  103. >"Goodbye 'Tia"
  104. >Celestia didn't respond.
  105. >Luna pretended not to notice her sister's tears.
