  1. Cycle of Seasons
  2.
  3. If one were to stay in this area for a long enough time, they will note that it changes rapidly, a full season completing in the same amount of time as one ASB round. The arena starts in the Spring when the battle commences, and the seasons are described below:
  4.
  5. Spring: A wide field of short, soft grass, a slow-moving river deciding it in the centre, a small copse of trees that the river cuts through. The field is dotted with small flowers just beginning to bloom. The weather here is Clear and there are no additional effects.
  6.
  7. Summer: The arena is green and warm, the sun shining brightly and granting a Sunny Day effect that lasts unless replaced with another weather.
  8.
  9. Fall: The leaves on the trees are turning colours and falling, and it's beginning to get cold. The river swells with water and moves faster in this season, and a chill breeze blows. there is a 50% chance that when this arena will come into phase with a Rain Dance in effect. If there is no rain, the weather is Clear, but the chill provides a +1% damage to all ice moves.
  10.
  11. Winter: The arena is covered in a good four or five inches of snow. The trees have lost their leaves, and the river is frozen over. The temperature has dropped significantly; all damaging Water-type moves will be classified as Ice in this season. This season comes into phase with a Hail effect in play until replaced by another weather condition. The cold grants a 1% reduction in energy for Ice-type Pokemon to use moves.

  15. The Battledome
  16.
  17. The Battledome is the place to go for combat in Neopia, a gigantic arena of metal and concrete, the most high-tech building this side of Virtupets. It's relatively simple in it's normal state; a 100-foot in diameter steel arena of circular shape, with a large pond in the centre for those bound to water.
  18.
  19. But the Battledome will change it's appearance and location every round, and is completely random what it becomes. The choices and changes are these:
  20.
  21. Stone Dome: Located in the Haunted Woods, the Stone Dome is open to the sky, and surrounded by ancient trees and a starry sky, the moon covered by clouds. The pond has become a murky black and filled with weeds. This arena grants a 3% boost to all Dark- and Ghost-type attacks, and a 2% Energy decrease for the same.
  22.
  23. Ice Arena: Located on Terror Mountain, the Ice Arena is completely enclosed in a glittering layer of ice so cold that is cannot be melted. The pond has frozen over, and the air is chilled to the negatives. This arena grants a 3% boost to Ice attacks and a 2% energy reduction to the same.
  24.
  25. Island Arena: Located on Mystery Island, the Island Arena isn't much more than a cleared-out section of jungle, the floor made of dirt and grass rather than metal. The pond is a pure sparkling blue here. This arena grants a 3% boost to Grass- and Bug-type attacks and a 2% energy reduction to the same.
  26.
  27. Space Arena: Located in the Virtupets Space Station, the Space Arena is completely clear, allowing the battlers to see the stars around them, the moon, and Neopia below. Gazing out at the world below them will cause the Pokemon to become Intimidated as per the Ability.
  28.
  29. Water Arena: Located in Maraqua under the sea, the Water Arena is, as it's name would suggest, completely filled with water. All non water-breathers will find their heads (or whatever they use to breath) surrounded by a magical bubble that allows them to breath. This arena makes all Fire Attacks completely useless and cuts all non-swimmer's speed by 2.
  30.
  31. Tyrannian Arena: Located in the prehistoric Tyrannia, the Tyrannian Arena is a primitively-cut stone on a large plateau. This arena has a hazard; a massive Pterodactyl has a 25% chance of appearing on the second action of the round and attacking both battlers for 5% untyped damage. This Arena also grants a 3% increase to Rock attacks, and a 2% energy reduction to the same.
  32.
  33. Battledome: The arena described at the top; has no special benefits.

  36.
  37. 2fort
  38.
  39. 2fort is made up of two mirror image forts opposite each other, separated by a water-filled moat, with a covered bridge spanning it. The battle takes place on the bridge and surrounding moat, with waterbound combatants swimming in the water, though land-based battlers can still leap in the water if needed.
  40.
  41. The wooden bridge is flammable, but strangely will not burn down or break entirely, constantly seeming to repair itself after a few minutes. There are also two sewer entrances under the bridge, which lead to small rooms with stairs leading to the main bases, though these stairs (as well as the doors into the buildings themselves) are blocked off to the battlers for fear of them torching the intel or something jerkish like that.
  42.
  43. At the start of the battle, each trainer will be assigned a team, RED or BLU, and keep the team during the whole battle. If a player of the opposing team gets too close to the other team's base (on the land on the other side of the bridge) there's a chance that a Sniper will fire on them, dealing 3% untyped damage if the shot hits.

  47. Brightmoon Tor
  48.
  49. Brightmoon Tor is a mind-bendingly tall tower that comes and goes on the whims of the moon in the Jylland region of Ivalice. It is a beautiful structure made up of countless floors, each one stuffed with monsters and treasures beyond your wildest dreams.
  50.
  51. The Tor consists of three 'Watches'. Each Watch is the same; three grey stone platforms, each about 15 feet square each, connected by carefully-hewn stairs. Towering dragon-shaped pillars hold up the roof, and each room is oddly spacious. A large red gemstone lurks on one of the platforms (randomly determined by the Ref), when touched by a Pokemon changes the Watch.
  52.
  53. The First Watch carries the following properties:
  54.
  55. - There is a 10% chance that both combatants will be Poisoned (90% chance normal poison, 10% Badly Poisoned) and their speed reduced by one stage.
  56. - There is a 5% chance that one combatant (50/50 chance of each) will be put to Sleep.
  57.
  58. The Second Watch contains the following properties:
  59.
  60. - There is a 10% chance that both combatants will be mildly Confused.
  61. - There is a 5% chance that one combatant (50/50 chance of each) will take 5% Typeless Damage.
  62.
  63. The Third Watch contains the following properties:
  64.
  65. - There is a 10% chance that both combatants will have their Speed reduced by two stages.
  66. - There is a 5% chance that one combatant (50/50 chance of each) will have their Attack and Defence boosted by one stage each.
  67.
  68. Each effect can stack and both have a chance of appearing in the same round, and linger after the Watch switches. The Watch is only switched when a Pokemon willingly touches a crystal, and the switch happens at the end of the round.
  69.
  70. In addiction, three other gems can be found very rarely (5% chance) on each of the Watches, and if picked up by a Pokemon, grant the properties. As long as one of these gemstones is active, no others can be found. They are as follows:
  71.
  72. - Crimson Tear: a blood red stone that boosts the holder's Attack by one stage.
  73.
  74. - Snowy Tear: a snowy white gem that boosts the holders Sp.Atk by one stage.
  75.
  76. - Azure Tear: a calming blue gem that boost the holder's evasion by one stage.
  77.
  78. If the Tor switches Watches, the Gem disappears.

  82. A Nice Garden
  83.
  84. The Battle takes place in a nice garden. It's very green and well-kept, full of rose bushes and flowers and small trees and what have you. It's a good-sized garden, about 150 feet square. There is a large birdhouse in a clump of bushes in each corner, and bird Pokemon can be seen gathered there sometimes. A pond is in the top-left corner. There are no hazards here...except one.
  85.
  86. A large white Gazebo is in the dead centre of the arena, and it's about 30 ft across, 15 ft high, with a pointed top. If it is hit with an attack, it will animate and start to attack the battlers. When animated, it resembles a white wooden dragon. It joins the battle with 50% health and 50% energy, is a Grass type, and can use the following attacks: Body Slam, Slash, Wood Hammer, Synthesis, Scratch, Headbutt, Crush Grip, Defense Curl, and Giga Impact. It's base speed is 80. It acts on the Ref's orders.

  90. Black Lotus Mausoleum
  91.
  92. The Black Lotus Mausoleum is a vast area, easily large enough to fit several Wailord from end to end. It has a high vaulted ceiling, and is carved entirely from black marble. The ceiling his held up by several pillars carved like black dragons, and the walls are engraved with intricate but seemingly random shapes. There is a huge door in the farthest wall, but it is shut firmly, and impossible to destroy or open. It is flanked by twin dragon statues with their mouths wide open.
  93.
  94. As the arena is inside, weather effects do not work. The Mausoleum seems oddly resistant to damage, and to repair itself of any harm in the last action of each round. The walls and ceiling cannot be collapsed, and the floor will take 5% extra energy to dig through.
  95.
  96. If a battler gets too close to the twin dragons guarding the door, they will spew forth a torrent of Dark-type energy, dealing 5% damage to any within 3 feet of the door.
  97.

  99.
  100. Arena: Land of Little Cubes and Tea
  101.
  102. The Land of Little Cubes and Tea (or LOLCAT), is one of many planets in the Medium, this one belonging to Nepeta Leijon. It has mainly clear weather and yellow-orange tea reminiscent skies, along with a snowy sugary ground. Powder pink teapots with black cats are visible atop the peaks. This land is made up of little sugar cubes, and some are piled into the shapes of hills, while others create large mountains. There are rivers of green tea on this planet with waterfalls of green running down thousands of little cubes.
  103.
  104. A Pokemon may eat a cube or two, which takes an action and restores 4% energy, though the Pokemon will loose 5% energy 5 actions after doing so in a sugar crash, if they have not recently eaten a cube. The 5 action timer is reset each time a cube is eaten, so if a Pokemon eats a cube, then eats another 3 actions later, the drop will happen 5 actions after the second. Feline-based Pokemon deal 1% more damage after all other modifiers have been applied, and take 1% less energy to use attacks.
