  1. Well, Murakami is one of my favorite authors, but I hate short stories so even though I own all his books, I never read those volumes. Last night I pulled them off the shelf, rifled through them, and read 8 stories. I don't know which story was the best because the themes and ideas all started bleeding dreamily together in my head. But Murakami always puts me in the same mood as a Wong Kar Wai movie. All the very wonderful sad beautiful missed connections of life. This story is about a man whose father tells him there will only be 3 women with whom he will feel a true connection in his lifetime. And what goes on in this young man's head and life as a result. It is also about the process of connecting with someone, and your control and lack thereof, in that gambit.
