Reasoning: Over the course of time since he unlocked the power of the Sharingan, Ruvik had been exposed to numerous accounts of misfortune, from being vastly overpowered by Cedric yet again and dawning a new burning scar, to losing one of the last people he recognized in anyway other than a complete enemy when Ambi went full Soga and got killed by the very same person he has been trying to get his revenge against since the brawl with Zall. It comes to the concluding point he is currently in.
What is the moment: Out of nowhere, a woman that aided Cedric during their last confrontation came to him and made an attempt on his life just for lounging about. Mary gave him two options. To resign himself to the role of a puppet, the thing he has constantly acted against when refusing to work under everyone from Zall to Ambi that offered, or die. After a series of rebuttal, it lead to yet another overwhelming defeat by someone he hadn't even known, his power proving increasingly worthless in his efforts of spiting those that had wronged him and once again putting his life on the line. Given the choice between actual oblivion (turn void back on) and bowing down to someone he has come to spite nearly as much as Cedric in only a short period of time.  Given the recent string of events and his own solidarity at this point with everyone he once knew perishing to the people of Oasis, I think it would be applicable for the built up stress alongside his own natural demonic blood twisting his emotions to their extremes to draw the cursed eyes to their final state of evolution in a gambit for survival and one last chance to punish those that had wronged him since his arrival on the island.
