  1. There's way too much to say for just a tweet or 2 so here's my WIP thoughts on Hatsune Miku: Project Diva X.
  2.
  3. Gameplay:
  4. The only major change from the previous Divas is the addition of RUSH notes. When they arrive you hit the note as normal but you mash the note right after. Similar to a hold note scoring metric. I don't think you can miss a RUSH note as long as you hit the note as you normally would but I haven't actually tried not mashing.
  5.
  6. Other notable song gameplay mechanics include the use of the control sticks for Star Notes as well as the touch screen. (Customizable via options)
  7.
  8. Menus:
  9. Menuing is about the same, there aren't any fanart loading screens that I have seen yet unfortunately.
  10.
  11. Unlocking songs:
  12. Songs come in themed sets. The themes are Neutral, Cute, Beauty, Chaos, and Cool. The sets are unlocked when you complete a previous set starting with Neutral and allowing you to choose which set to unlock each time.
  13.
  14. Each set contains 5 songs and a Medley. The medley is unlocked when the 5 songs are completed in Voltage mode.
  15.
  16. Voltage mode is effectively a story mode. You have a target voltage for each song in order to complete the song quest. The major difference between Voltage and Free Play (the gameplay mode from previous games which is included in X) is that your modules affect the rate at which you build voltage (score). There are also random? Notes that if you hit them will increase your voltage rate as well. Instead of getting a "Standard" "Great" "Excellent" or "Perfect" rating in Voltage mode, simply passing rewards a "Quest Complete".
  17.
  18. There is also a "Special Live" mode which lets you play special concerts. Some allow you to pick everything including song(s), module(S) and stage(S). Others only allow you to choose modules or stages etc.
  19.
  20. Another notable change is the unlocking of modules and accessories. The player does not earn Diva points anymore, rather in Voltage and Special Live mode hitting Chance Time successfully grants you a random Module or Rare Module and after each clear in these modes the player is given 1-5 drops that can include gifts for vocaloids or accessories. If Chance Time is hit, the module will always be for the current lead Vocaloids in the song. In Special Live mode there is only one chance time for the entire concert even if there are multiple songs. I don't know if it is always the last song or not but it seems to be that way.
  21.
  22. There are dialogue scenes between the vocaloids and the player. There are also choices that may affect the vocaloids' mood. I haven't bothered to translate them because they appear fairly often and seem to have little effect most of the time.
  23.
  24. There is also a free play mode, art and dialogue viewing mode, gift giving menu, a room menu, and a character posing menu using the vita camera but those are straightforward or directly the same as in previous games.
  25.
  26. Opinion time
  27. Songs: (I'll do a formal tier list when I get to my computer, that way I can copy paste titles.)
  28.
  29. The songs overall are REALLY GOOD. Id say the songlist is equal to f and f2nd. The medleys are probably some of my favorite songs out of all 3 games.
  30.
  31. The difficulty of the songs seems a bit higher compared to f or f2nd.
  32.
  33. Only one song I have played on Extreme has truly straight up sucked. And it wasn't even a bad song just a really bad chart.
  34.
  35. There are a lot fewer meiko solo songs which is good. A lot more group songs which is also good. And a few top tier songs (see tier list when I make it).
  36.
  37. The modules own. They included some old modules such as Senbonzakura and Kagerou daze outfits. As well as adding new modules that are very good. The modules all have types similar to the songs and some have set bonuses with accessories that boost your voltage rate further.
  38.
  39. I have not reached the credits yet so I can not speak to the minigame that is presumably part of them.
  40.
  41. In free play mode you notably do not have to play the song on low difficulties to unlock higher ones. Once you unlock the song in Voltage mode you can play all difficulties in Free Play. (HUGE IMPROVEMENT)
  42.
  43. my phone is dying I'll probably add more to this later.
  44.
  45. Overall thoughts. 10/10.
