  1. "Awww come on Lincoln! Just one try out, that's all I ask!" Lynn said, trying to convince her brother.
  2.
  3. "Lynn I've told you a thousand times, I'm just not interested in trying out for sports. I just want to lay on my bed and read Muscle Fish."
  4.
  5. This seemed like a regular thing to Lincoln; it seemed like every other weekend Lynn was asking him to join a sports team. The thing was, sports had never really held is interest. Still, this constant badgering was starting to push him to try out for one, if only to get Lynn to stop bothering him.
  6.
  7. "Please please please please please please please please please please please please please pleaasssseeeee..."
  8.
  9. "Alright alright alright! Fine, I'll try out for sports..." Lincoln said begrudgingly.
  10.
  11. Upon hearing this, Lynn practically squealed with joy. She had finally broken the defenses her brother had set up and got him to try sports. Soon she'll finally have another sibling that enjoys the same thing that she does. She loved her sisters, but none of them really share her love for athletic competition. If Lincoln was to try out and join a team, it didn't even matter what kind of team it was, she'd have someone to play with.
  12.
  13. "Sweet! I've already got a list of sports that you can try out for!" Lynn said as she pulled out a piece of paper.
  14.
  15. The paper had many regular sports and alternative sports listed, from standards ones such as baseball to more alternative ones such as extreme jacks. Lincoln was a bit taken aback at how quickly she was prepared for his approval, but brushed it aside and took a look at the list. He saw 12 different sports that stood out, but wasn't sure which one to pick.
  16.
  17. "Uh I'm not sure which one I'd be any good at..." Lincoln said worriedly.
  18.
  19. "Just choose whichever one you think is cool! I'll help you with whatever one you pick!"
  20.
  21. Lincoln was never good at making decisions and to make a decision between 12 different options was daunting. He wasn't sure which one to pick so he just closed his eyes and decided to follow whatever his finger chose. His finger wavered back and forth, still unsure. He finally placed it down though and opened his eyes to see what he had chosen.
  22.
  23. #7. Skateboarding
  24.
  25. "Skateboarding?? I can't do that!"
  26.
  27. "Sure you can, all you need is some practice. And YOU said you would try out so no backing out of this."
  28.
  29. Lincoln just gave a sigh and accepted his fate, looks like he won't be reading any comics for a while; at least until he tries out and fails. He followed Lynn to the garage where she pulled his skateboard and helmet out.
  30.
  31. "Lynn I still don't think this is a good ide-" His thought was cut short by Lynn shoving his helmet onto his head.
  32.
  33. "You'll be fine Lincoln, you just need someone there to coach you before you try out! Now here, balance on this skateboard. You can do that right?"
  34.
  35. Lincoln scowled and took the skateboard from her.
  36.
  37. "Of course I can balance on a skateboard, I'm not an idiot. It's like this right?" Lincoln placed the board on the ground, stepping onto it. It rolled a bit and he was actually having a little trouble balancing, but he managed.
  38.
  39. "See I told you I could do it- WAGH!"
  40.
  41. Lincoln had stopped focusing, lost his footing, and the board slipped out from under him as he fell onto the cold garage floor.
  42.
  43. "Not. A. Word."
  44.
  45. "Well you can't learn to skate in the garage, and we can't skate out on the streets 'cause of the cars. Let's go get Lori to drop us off at the skate park."
  46.
  47. Lincoln just gave another sigh as Lynn took his hand. This was going to be a long day...
  48.
  49.
  50. At the skate park...
  51.
  52.
  53. "Alright you two, don't do anything stupid. If you one of you gets hurt I'M going to get in trouble." Lori said as she looked at her phone to text Bobby as usual.
  54.
  55. Both of them put their helmets on and grabbed their boards, though one was a bit more enthusiastic than the other.
  56.
  57. "Alright Lincoln, this is training day one. We're gonna' start with something simple like basic skating."
  58.
  59. Lynn placed her board down, stepped onto it and kicked off the ground with one foot to get her rolling.
  60.
  61. "It's pretty easy, just push against the ground to get speed and lean when you want to turn!"
  62.
  63. Lincoln looked at his board, then looked at Lynn skating and doing tricks easily, then looked at his board again. How the hell was he supposed to do stuff like that? He chose this though, so he has to at least try. He put the board down and followed the instructions perfectly.
  64.
  65. "Yeah see Lincoln? You can do this!" Lynn said, trying to offer encouragement. "It'll be a while before you can pull off something like this though!" Lynn then proceeded to do kick-flip and rail grind, then skating to the half pipe where she pulled off multiple tricks.
  66. Lincoln just whistled, hammering in just how much better she was. Still, he wanted to try to at least bounce off the ground. He fumbled around a bit, trying to launch his board of the ground. Much to Lynn's surprise though, it only took him a couple of tries until he was able to ollie perfectly.
  67.
  68. "Hey Lynn I did it!"
  69.
  70. "Oh, uh nice job dude!"
  71.
  72. "Alright I'm gonna' try and jump while moving!"
  73.
  74. Lynn started to look a bit worried; she didn't want Lincoln hurting himself.
  75.
  76. "Hey Lincoln you should probably take it easy, you don't want to get hurt-"
  77.
  78. Before she could finish her thought however Lincoln was already sailing and pulling off ollies. Lynn was stunned by how talented Lincoln was. It wasn't soon before long until he tried doing a kick-flip, but he wasn't THAT talented. He ate concrete on his first attempt, which cause Lynn to immediately skate over to him.
  79.
  80. "Lincoln! Are you alright??"
  81.
  82. "Oww... That hurt." Lincoln said as grabbed the shoulder that he landed on.
  83.
  84. "We don't have to skate much longer if you don't want to." Wait, why was she saying this? She wanted him to do things like this; to be athletic. Still, something was bothering her.
  85.
  86. "Nah, it's cool. Skating is actually pretty fun! I want to try that again, I feel like I can do it."
  87.
  88. "I don't think so Lincoln, it'll take a while before you can do a kick-flip."
  89.
  90. "Aw c'mon Lynn lemme' try one more time!"
  91.
  92. Lynn was now wearing a worried look on her face, reluctant to agree.
  93.
  94. "A-Alright, you can try again."
  95.
  96. Lincoln got up, took to his board and gathered some speed. He could feel it, he could do it. He launched the board up and pulled off the trick! The landing however, he didn't pull off. He ended up on the floor again, though he knew he was close to doing it. Lynn could see that too; he had amazing potential. She was kind of interested to see him try it one more time.
  97.
  98. "I was so close that time! One more try? Please?"
  99.
  100. "Uh, yeah, sure."
  101.
  102. Lincoln repeated the same actions, but this time he managed to actually stick the landing. He was ecstatic that he managed to pull off something like that. He felt like he could do anything! He continued to skate around, doing ollies and kick-flips. He was having the time of his life! He knew though not to get ahead of himself and decided not to push any farther than doing simple tricks; there's always tomorrow. As she watched Lincoln skate, she felt a mix of pride and worry. She was proud that her brother had taken to skateboard with such ease, but that's also what worried her. There was a part of her that was worried that he might surpass her, which she knew was very selfish of her. Still, she couldn't help but feel a bit threatened now that Lincoln was moving into her area of expertise so to say.
