[2015-07-22 13:18:15] <Kkat> 6Noble_Heart finds herself standing in an overly tall but otherwise cramped office -- with walls of gold-veined marble and corner columns, giving the room the feeling of a palatial closet. The desk in front of her is small, but still takes up an uncomfortable amount of space. The zebra sitting behind it wore heavy and non-decorative armor.

  21. [2015-07-22 13:21:11] * CopyCat lands on the deck of the stealth airship that she'd decided to call /Shadowbolt/ because it sounded cool. She'd brought her other friends across with her, the ones that wanted to return to the ship and assist Shatara with interrogating the 'necromancer' captive.
  22. [2015-07-22 13:21:15] <Kkat> 6"Tell me how you came to be," the zebra asks her, "A guest in our facility."
  23. [2015-07-22 13:25:07] * Noble_Heart looks at the zebra quietly a few moments, more than a touch surprised that they spoke Equestrian. "We were attacked by a shaman who banished Us here. It was most inconvenient and frustrating." She frowned in annoyance at the prospect and wrinkled her nose slightly.
  24. [2015-07-22 13:28:13] * Mitzi looks to CopyCat, "Where eez stripey ponee dat made Noble deesappeer?"
  25. [2015-07-22 13:28:49] * Bookwright "I'm pretty sure that Shatara was interrogating her."
  26. [2015-07-22 13:29:00] <Kkat> 6The zebra nods. "You're not our first unexpected guest. You've seen what happened to the rest."
  27. [2015-07-22 13:31:21] * Mitzi nods, "Maybe Uh can help get answers. Stripey ponee may have eevil mageek, but Uh'm still preety scaree."
  28. [2015-07-22 13:31:34] * Noble_Heart frowns at that prospect. "We are uncertain that We believe 'banished by Roam to the catacombs' is truly 'unexpected'." She stamps a forehoof in mild irritation. "Indeed, We would rather take Our presence here as a sign that We have been taken prisoner. An unpleasant arrangement for all involved."
  29. [2015-07-22 13:35:16] <Kkat> 6"Rest assured, when Roam disappears you," he smiles a thin, grim smile, "Weapons and armor don't go in too."
  30. [2015-07-22 13:38:32] <Kkat> 6He sighs. "You can go back in, I do not care. But you'll do so with much less to wear. Or I let you leave and all I ask," he stares pleasantly at the alicorn towering above him. "Is your help in a simple task."

  32. [2015-07-22 13:44:02] * Noble_Heart looks down her muzzle at the zebra behind the desk with a quizzical consideration. "We are listening." She wasn't usually the type who'd give in to such demands. But right now she was exhausted, unarmed and surrounded by magical energy weapons. She was not so foolish as to attempt to attack those who had her at such an obvious disadvantage.
  33. [2015-07-22 13:44:04] <Kkat> 6"The banishment that sent you here: a ring of flame all green and queer?" As he speaks, Noble_Heart can feel her magic beginning to return. A slow trickle, but whatever was prevented her recovery was limited to the catacombs beyond the gate.
  34. [2015-07-22 13:45:17] * Noble_Heart nods her head at that. "A zebra with a bottle of fire, dragged Us down into the darkness and left Us to rot. We had feared that We might never find Our way out, until your drone found Us at least." She chuckled darkly. "Though in truth We were uncertain anyone would be likely to check on that either."

  37. [2015-07-22 13:58:22] * Shatara shrugs a bit. "No change, I guess...a couple were into Get's crazy ideas for a bit..."
  38. [2015-07-22 13:58:39] <Kkat> 6"Since the first incursion beneath Roam, to ensure the safety of our home, I have ordered sweeps by scouting drones," he tells Noble_Heart. "Some 'gifts' have been more than flesh and bones."
  39. [2015-07-22 14:01:13] * Noble_Heart frowns and nods her head. "So these are a new problem, then? And Roam has not asked your permission to tread upon your home?"
  40. [2015-07-22 14:02:06] * CopyCat struts up and down on the deck doing her whole Noble_Heart shtick. She looks strong, confident, and gallant! "We could get used to this," she admires.
  41. [2015-07-22 14:03:21] <Kkat> 6"There is a standing threat to Roam. A cult that calls Vault LIV its home." He frowns, suppressing a shudder.
  42. [2015-07-22 14:04:33] <Kkat> 6"The one who banished you to here," he adds, "Gained her power from them, I fear."
  43. [2015-07-22 14:05:04] * Noble_Heart raises her eyebrows quizzically. "This is one of which we have not heard." She scowls at that prospect. "That seems most unusual. And you wish Us to go and deal with this problem for you?"
  44. [2015-07-22 14:06:31] * Golden_Dream comes in on deck as if on cue with purpose behind her step. "Copycat, I can only handle one durned Noble with her royal "We's' and her stupid need t' get herself in as much trouble as equinely possible, I don't need two." Something else is bothering her.
  45. [2015-07-22 14:06:35] <Kkat> 6The zebra nods. "Help deal with the Cult of LIV and your freedom I will give."
  46. [2015-07-22 14:09:29] * Mitzi nods to Shatara, "Und da un dat deesapeered Noble?"
  47. [2015-07-22 14:10:15] * Shatara shrugs. "Hasn't done anything..."
  48. [2015-07-22 14:10:38] * CopyCat whinnies at Golden_Dream. "But We are so Pretty and Majestic!" she pleads, pouting.
  49. [2015-07-22 14:11:34] * Mitzi nods, "Which un eez she?" She asks Shatara.
  50. [2015-07-22 14:12:38] * mimezinga nodnods "and they are really nice looking in photos"
  51. [2015-07-22 14:13:27] <Kkat> 6The zebra shuffles a bit and opens a safe built into the floor. He draws out and sets upon the desk an ancient and weathered PipBuck, the dark stains in the padding telling a grim tale of the pony who originally wore it. "To ensure you do not simply flee after telling me that you agree," he explains.
  52. [2015-07-22 14:15:55] <Kkat> 6"You will wear this so I can track, and I'll remove it once you're back." He nudges the PipBuck, it's binding unclasped, towards Noble_Heart.
  53. [2015-07-22 14:17:02] * Golden_Dream gives Copycat a (playfully) forceful point. "No. Nnnno." Her smile faded. "We need to get Noble back as soon as we can. If we can't get wherever it is from th' durned goblet, I got one last idea to get us there."
  54. [2015-07-22 14:18:15] * Bookwright pales. "You're going to ask the shamen to send us there."
  55. [2015-07-22 14:18:23] * Noble_Heart looks at the PipBuck and nods her head, lifting a foreleg to the desk for the device. "We agree. We shall deal with this cult, and when We return, We shall be free."
  56. [2015-07-22 14:19:49] * Golden_Dream waves her hoof. "Slightly better idea than that. Auntie Sleipnir owes us a favor."
  57. [2015-07-22 14:20:11] <Kkat> 6The zebra nods.

  59. [2015-07-22 14:21:18] * CopyCat makes a horse noise, and then, like an optical illusion, Noble's features fade into her own. Within moments CopyCat is herself again. She smiles at Golden_Dream. "Okay Goldie, you're right."
  60. [2015-07-22 14:23:56] <Kkat> 3Meanwhile, the /Cutlass/ flies closer to where the Leviathan disappeared. And on board the /Eclipsis/... or the /Shadowbolt/ if CopyCat's name sticks... the necromantic "doctor" has awoken.

  64. [2015-07-22 14:27:41] * CopyCat wriggles to loosen herself up, then looks at Golden_Dream, Shatara, Bookwright, mimezinga (Get_Lost), and Mitzi. "Shall we go see if the 'necromancer' is awake?"
  65. [2015-07-22 14:28:16] * Golden_Dream nods, unsure. "Yeah. I... I'll come in after you."
  66. [2015-07-22 14:28:22] * Mitzi nods to CopyCat, "Maybe Uh can get her tu talk."
  67. [2015-07-22 14:29:28] * Get_Lost frowns "i'd rather keep an eye on the probe thing..."
  68. [2015-07-22 14:29:34] * Bookwright nods. "Let's. I'm eager to observe Mitzi's inimitable interrogation technique."

  70. [2015-07-22 14:36:33] * Mitzi raises an eyebrow at Bookwright, "Does dat mean scaree? Uh'm gud at scaree, althoguh Uh dun't always meen tu."
  71. [2015-07-22 14:36:44] <Kkat> 3The doctor is waiting for them when they unlock and open the pantry door. She has squirmed into the most comfortable possible position she can manage considering her bindings. She actually seems to be smiling.
  72. [2015-07-22 14:37:11] * Bookwright bites his lip in thought. "...Yes. It means scary in the way only you can be scary."
  73. [2015-07-22 14:37:13] <Kkat> 3Parlay hovers nearby, ready to translate (and possibly photograph necromancer booty).
  74. [2015-07-22 14:37:42] * Get_Lost if parlay is there, proud mommy can't miss it. get quickly joins the others
  75. [2015-07-22 14:38:17] * Mitzi smiles, taking that as a compliment
  76. [2015-07-22 14:38:40] * Get_Lost "please parlay, translate: we understand that you have an advantage during this interrogatory. so we will try to keep you alive as long as possible. we are sorry, usually we are not that cruel"
  77. [2015-07-22 14:39:30] * CopyCat waltzs into the pantry and smiles at the zebra. Yay! Everyone was smiling. This must be a Good Sign.
  78. [2015-07-22 14:40:59] * Golden_Dream is not smiling. Golden_Dream is looking /very/ twitchy and ready to shoot at this Necromancer. Golden Dream just needs an excuse.
  79. [2015-07-22 14:41:36] <Kkat> 3"Oh my," she purrs. "So many guests for little ol' me. To what do I owe the priviledge?" Her words are in zebra, but Parlay translates easily.

  81. [2015-07-22 14:46:51] * Mitzi cracks her knucles and flexes her claws, gauging the necromancer's reaction
  82. [2015-07-22 14:49:54] * Shatara sets cattle prod to stir fry
  83. [2015-07-22 14:51:02] <Kkat> 6Noble_Heart is lead through the stately building, flanked by claustritumus, the PipBuck on her foreleg. Before leaving the presence of gatekeeper, he gave her two vital bits of additional information. The PipBuck map is marked with the location of Vault LIV. But before she can reach it, she will need to get past something called the "Anulus Mortis"...
  84. [2015-07-22 14:53:18] <Kkat> 6...a barrier of some sort that she has been warned surrounds the city. "Fly very high and fly very fast" was the crux of the gatekeeper's advice.
  85. [2015-07-22 14:53:55] <Kkat> 6In addition, she was warned not to tamper with the PipBuck on her leg.
  86. [2015-07-22 14:54:08] * Noble_Heart frowned at that advice. Truthfully she was not that good at flying. But she did know how to do some things that Zebras did not. Perhaps that might help her here as well. She looked upwards towards the sky, curious as to this city of Roam.
  87. [2015-07-22 14:55:50] <Kkat> 6Now, she is finally being lead out into an open court. After the darkness of the catacombs, the sky above her seems exceptionally bright and rich, a tapestry of velvet purples and oranges painted by the slowly setting sun.
  88. [2015-07-22 14:58:46] <Kkat> 6In the courtyard itself, other zebras in fine toga dresses stop to stare at the extremely strange sight of an alicorn in their midst. None have seen such a creature before; most don't even know what sort of creature Noble_Heart is.
  89. [2015-07-22 14:59:28] * Noble_Heart briefly shields her eyes with a wing, looking out around the city briefly. It was doubtful that she could go unnoticed in the Zebra capital no matter how hard she tried. And she was exceptionally bad at being unnoticed to begin with. The fact that they were not lynching her for being Nightmare Moon or something similar was at least a small comfort.
  90. [2015-07-22 15:02:39] <Kkat> 6The surrounding city held architecture reminiscent of the ruins of Zebratown, mixed with the most grand elements of classical Cloudsdale. The weight of centuries lay heavy on the marble and stone, but the city was surprisingly clean and intact... not at all the scorched and hollowed ruins that were old Equestrian cities.

  92. [2015-07-22 15:06:01] <Kkat> 3The necromancer's eyes widen at the sight of Mitzi, and for the first time her smugness falters.
  93. [2015-07-22 15:06:18] * CopyCat can feel the barely restrained anger emanating from her friends but she does her best to put it out of her mind. To the necromancer she asks, "What is your name?"
  94. [2015-07-22 15:06:59] * Mitzi looks to Parlay, "Tell ur guest dat we dun want tu keel hur, but we cud make beein alive veree painful."
  95. [2015-07-22 15:07:02] <Kkat> 3"My real name?" she asks. "Or what those fools above call me?"
  96. [2015-07-22 15:07:51] <Shatara> "...both?"
  97. [2015-07-22 15:08:04] * Mitzi adds, "Eef she not couperate/
  98. [2015-07-22 15:08:26] * CopyCat tilts her head. "What do you like to be called?"
  99. [2015-07-22 15:09:02] <Kkat> 3Parlay, as expected, translates precisely. Which leads to the necromancer scowling and saying to Parlay, "Tell your monster to sheath her claws or I might just have to show mine."
  100. [2015-07-22 15:12:24] <Kkat> 3She then answers, "Every zebra calles me Garyalla. My real name is XLIX."
  101. [2015-07-22 15:14:55] * Mitzi crosses her arms and notes simply, "Ur claws eez attached. Dey can't be put away."
  102. [2015-07-22 15:16:35] <Kkat> 3She smiles. "I heard what you ponies said. And since you know..." The Stripless is suddenly engulfed in a flash of green flame! In its wake is left a small zebra filly who casually steps out of the ropes that collapse to the floor around her. She bends, tipping her head so the conviction band slides off. "I think I'd prefer to be called Queen XLIX!"
  103. [2015-07-22 15:17:13] <Kkat> 3Another flash of green flame and the zebra filly is replaces by the dark, chitinous form of a changeling drone.
  104. [2015-07-22 15:19:36] * CopyCat continues, "Everyone calls me CopyCat but my real name is-" she stops and gasps at the transforming filly-ling. "You're so cute!" she squee's immediately hugging Xlix.
  105. [2015-07-22 15:20:18] * Golden_Dream takes a deep breath. Welp. Careful what you wish for. "Cute. I think y'all got th' wrong impression here. So lemme put th' right idea in your head where y' are Lil' Miss 49. Yer' in a room, full of very, very angry angry..." And then Copycat happened. "... Except her, but she's special."
  106. [2015-07-22 15:22:16] * Get_Lost "hey, a bug! experimenting bugs is morally acceptable, yes?"
  107. [2015-07-22 15:25:09] <Kkat> 3The changeling drone looks exceptionally uncomfortable at being hugged. This was apparently not within its realm of experience.
  108. [2015-07-22 15:25:32] <Kkat> 3It's cyan gossamer wings flap helplessly.
  109. [2015-07-22 15:26:21] * Mitzi snickers at the bug pony's discomfort
  110. [2015-07-22 15:26:41] <Kkat> 3Finally, it buzzes, "I'll tell you what you want if she let's me go."
  111. [2015-07-22 15:27:09] * Golden_Dream looks at Copycat, and then the bugpone. "Start talkin'."
  112. [2015-07-22 15:27:55] <Kkat> 3"First leggo."
  113. [2015-07-22 15:27:56] * Shatara snickers with.
  114. [2015-07-22 15:29:08] * Bookwright is grinning fiercly.
  115. [2015-07-22 15:29:36] * Mitzi guffaws
  116. [2015-07-22 15:30:12] * Get_Lost "we can't let go. we are ponies. we are friendly like that. also, can i vivisect you when we are done?"
  117. [2015-07-22 15:30:42] <Kkat> 3"I am a mighty necromancer and I will not be fondled!" XLIX proclaims with a buzz that sounds just a bit like a pout.
  118. [2015-07-22 15:30:51] * CopyCat releases the hug but bombards Xlix with questions instead. "Are you a changeling? What's it like being a changeling? How do you know you're a changeling and not just a pony who /thinks/ they're a changeling? Because sometimes I think I might be a changeling..." she trails off, muttering. CopyCat looks away, wistfully... but she doesn't look like she's expecting answers to these questions.
  119. [2015-07-22 15:31:53] * Golden_Dream gives the bugpone a very even look. "Now talk, unless you want me to sic Copycat on you again. Or worse."
  120. [2015-07-22 15:32:57] <Shatara> "We can be very...cuddly..."
  121. [2015-07-22 15:35:30] <Kkat> 3The changeling drone answers in deadpan, "Yes." Then, "Better." But at the third question, it pauses a moment. "Because the stars give power in accordance to our own gifts."
  122. [2015-07-22 15:36:12] * Get_Lost since the hugging doesn't seem to stop, get decides to simply start studying the thing. she takes a rolled meter and starts taking measurements
  123. [2015-07-22 15:36:20] * Bookwright "I have to say, I didn't expect changelings to turn to the stars for power at all."
  124. [2015-07-22 15:36:29] <Kkat> 3Her words echo from Sleipnir. Some of the ponies find themselves remembering visions of unicorns casting necromantic spells, zebras creating necromantic enchantments, a pegasus performing a sonic deathboom. The changeling continues, "They have given me power that rivals any queen. Any TEN queens!"
  125. [2015-07-22 15:37:57] * Bookwright snorts in disbelief. "And yet you're here, captured by us."
  126. [2015-07-22 15:37:58] * Get_Lost checks under tha changeling's tail
  127. [2015-07-22 15:39:11] * Mitzi says, "Yu luk a leetle small to be alpha bug ponee." She assumed that 'Queen' was something equivalent amongst whatever their kind was
  128. [2015-07-22 15:39:37] * Mitzi then pauses a moment, "Actually, ur fathur eeze really small, but he stronger dan me. Nevurmind."
  129. [2015-07-22 15:40:37] * Shatara hmms. "So you're a bugpone, AND a necromancer...here I was expecting one or the other."
  130. [2015-07-22 15:41:09] * CopyCat mutters, "A bugromancer..."
  131. [2015-07-22 15:41:35] * Golden_Dream looks absolutely incredulous. And also extremely, extremely deadpan. "Y'know, how about we jus' get to th' point and you tell us where th' fuck you stashed our big purple friend before I tell you exactly how that's bullshit."
  132. [2015-07-22 15:41:36] <Shatara> "She doesn't seem to keen on romancing..."
  133. [2015-07-22 15:43:17] * Bookwright "Necroling? Change-o-mancer?"
  134. [2015-07-22 15:46:22] <Kkat> 3The changling drone looks decidedly disgruntled.
  135. [2015-07-22 15:47:02] <Kkat> 3It looks up at Golden_Dream. "Oh, would you like to find your friend? I could help you with that."
  136. [2015-07-22 15:47:47] * CopyCat nods at Golden_Dream. "Ah, our actual question. Right. Xlix, you sent a friend of ours away in a circle of green flame. Please bring her back." She fixes the changeling with an exceptionally friendly smile. "If we don't get her back then we might have to find another friend to join us. Who we can hug and squeeze and braid her mane..." CopyCat grins at Xlix. "Forever."
  137. [2015-07-22 15:49:29] <Kkat> 3The changeling backs away from CopyCat a step, cringing. "Bring her back? I can't bring her back. It doesn't work that way!" It narrows its eyes and smiles. "But..." it buzzes, "...I could send you /there/."

  139. [2015-07-22 15:51:45] <Kkat> 6Throughout the city of Roam, a chiming begins to sound. First one bell, some distance away. Then another joins it from a different direction. And several more. Soon, the whole city washed in a rather melodious ringing.
  140. [2015-07-22 15:53:07] <Kkat> 6The claustritumus next to Noble_Heart sit down, putting their forehooves over their hearts, close their eyes and begin to hum softly in tune with the bells.
  141. [2015-07-22 15:54:04] <Kkat> 6The few zebras Noble_Heart can see still in the courtyard or the city streets at this hour all stop, putting aside their business, and follow suit.

  143. [2015-07-22 15:55:28] * Noble_Heart blinks in some confusion and frowns. The five minutes of love? No doubt there were dangerous things lurking in those shadows, things she did not wish to meet. She flew higher until even the clouds were beneath her hooves. Finally beginning to head in the direction of the marker.

  198. [2015-07-22 17:01:02] <Kkat> 3The /Skullcrusher/ has swooped into the airspace and is angling itself to bring its cannons to bear against the /Cutlass/ as Captain Vespertillo responds to Captain Wameli in kind. Other ships are beginning to close.
