  1. Dear CloudBees Customer:
  2.
  3. CloudBees began offering hosted services for developers over four years ago. Since then, our offering has grown from a hosted CI service to encompass the full application development, deployment, and management lifecycle. Across that time, Jenkins has become a tremendous success as an open source project and as a key tool used by companies large and small. As continuous delivery and devops have become strategic initiatives for many companies, Jenkins has moved beyond development and QA to being critical to the overall organization. These changes have had a profound impact on CloudBees’ business, opening up new opportunities and fueling our growth.
  4.
  5. Today we are announcing that we are placing all of CloudBees’ focus on being the enterprise Jenkins company - on premise, in the cloud, and bridging those worlds. This change means that we will be shutting down our RUN@cloud (which includes application and database hosting) services. On the other hand, our hosted Jenkins-as-a-service offering, DEV@cloud, and its features that help you make use of on-prem resources, will continue to be an integral part of the CloudBees platform along with our Jenkins Enterprise and Operations Center products. This focus on Jenkins will allow us to invest more in DEV@cloud.
  6.
  7. As of September 24, we will be transitioning existing free accounts to a trial-based offering, and eliminating our free tier plan. Our records indicate you are a customer of our free services. You will have until October 10 to change your existing free account to a for-pay plan or to transition to an alternative provider.
  8. Please note: FOSS customers making use of DEV@cloud services are not impacted; we will continue to provide free service for approved FOSS projects.
  9.
  10. We plan to shut down RUN@cloud services as of December 31, 2014. We know that our customers put a bet on CloudBees and have trusted us to provide business-critical functionality and support. We deeply appreciate this trust and business.
  11.
  12. We have prepared a migration document to help answer questions about how to transition RUN@cloud applications to other providers. To get answers to any of your questions, please review that document and send mail to us at run-help@cloudbees.com if you need more information.
  13.
  14. We apologize for the impact that this change may have on your business. It’s our hope that by working closely with customers on the mechanics of transition, and increasing our investment in Jenkins for continuous integration and delivery, we can continue to earn your business and trust in the future.
