  4. Well hey there. I see you've decided to pick up the Challenge. Good for you. I--You can call me Normal. You may have met my friends Hardcore and Fast-Track. Both blowhards, both idiots.

  6. I'm here to help you through this. Let's get started.

  8. The Dirt Hovel stage is all about recovering from your wandering. It's none of my business what you were doing--running from oppression, exploring for fun or profit--but the fact that you hold this book in your hands means you wanted something more.

  10. You are looking a little weak there, if you don't mind me saying so. But if we get you out of the elements and away from mobs you should be just fine. But until you recover, forget about using tools.

  12. Once we get you set up with shelter, we'll get a few supplies set up for you:

  14. A Door.
  15. A Bed.
  16. A Crafting Bench.
  17. A Chest.
  18.  
  19. More people are on their way to you, too. Prepare for them.

  21. Some supplies you'll need to get the others ready are:
  22.  
  23. 16 Logs (any kind)
  24. 32 Planks (Any Kind)
  25. 6 Saplings (Any)
  26. 6 Seeds for Food plants.

  28. Once you get set up with all of that you should be ready to welcome the first of your new neighbors.

  30. But first, a reminder--Going underground is dangerous. NEVER go underground without a helmet.

  33. For your safety, I have a few safety guidelines for your Dirt Hovel:

  35. It should be 3 blocks high.
  36. You stand 2 blocks high, and the ceiling should be just above your head level.

  38. If you have any blocks more than 3 blocks away from a supporting wall, it will need a support.
  39.  
  40. A 2x2 of any Dirt-like substance will do, or a 1x1 Log pillar.

  42. Because you aren't looking so good, only craft these items:

  45. Bed
  46. Wooden Door
  47. Wood Button
  48. Wood Pressure Plate
  49. Item Frame
  50. Leather Helmet
  51. Bowl
  52. Forester Backpack
  53. Hunter Backpack
  54. Adventurer Backpack
  55. Torch (Rubber sap!)
