Laverna Quits

I would just like to note this before moving onto Laverna's post:
Laverna was a high paying member of Spiral Knights, active in the community, a lot more friendly than Delcore but a bit obsessed with collecting. The recent accessory patch has lead to this, however.

Originally I wanted to post this under the "Boycott Acessoires" thread, but since people keep asking "Laverna why you leave?!" I just might refer to this thread so everyone can see.

For me the game died when I had some conversation with Zikey, Icycloud and others. Also because I witnessed some people, including myself, spending way too much money. Basically I just don't feel comfortable anymore in this game.

4 months ago I was very impressed with Sk's art style. I like medieval stuff, fantasy, and games like Zelda. Perfect isn't it? Well I thought so. However this free2play slowly turned into paying excessive amounts of money to just become better than the rest and stand out of the crowd. And while this might have affected me more than others I still witnessed a lot of people spending way too much cash. More than this game ever can be worth.

Don't get me wrong, I don't have an issue with 000 wanting to make money. However their methods of making money soley rely on peoples addictions, luck and last but not least, greed. Now of course you can always buy items from the bazaar, but that doesn't change the origin of these UV's -Punch

What is Punch? He's a gambling machine. Now if good gear results from gambling/ragecrafting, some might just as well get addicted to it right. I hear people screaming already "Well JUST DONT waste money then!", but try to tell that some addict in a casino. I think this is a serious topic. Let me give you a little taste of it:

It makes me really upset they implement something awful as this in a kids game. Simply because they know it works.

Or the thing with the acessoires they just released a day ago. Cute aren't they. Yeah I think it's a funny addition and you are able to greatly individualize your char. However 000 refuses to just make them available at a vendor. Instead they design keys you buy for almost 3$ to open boxes. Basically it's lottery and and I'm sure they will build onto this business model even more. As you can tell by now I'm definately no fan of it.

Why not just call it Spiral Casino or Lottery Knights?

And the last thing that made up my mind was account security. The longer you stay in a mmo the harder it gets to quit. 000 notes in their policy account security is the problem of it's customers and they can't guarantee to reimburse lost items/chars. That's not good enough for the paying crowd.

Btw: That's of course just one of many opinions and not the truth for everyone out there. But I wanted to share it anyway. That's my good right for supporting the game for almost 4 months :)
