1. **Vancouver Whalers Post game Show music**Camera shows Jeff And Bill at Desk in Chairs**
2. Bill: Hello my name is Bill and this is my Co-host Jeff, and Welcome to the Vancouver Whalers Post Game Show.
3. Jeff: Tonight the Vancouver Whalers faced off against the Colorado Mammoths in the second game of the season. And was it a tough one for Vancouver Whalers fans to watch.
4. Bill: That’s right Jeff with the final being 3 for the Whalers and 5 for the Colorado Mammoths. It was a rough night for Tyler No Nerves saving only 13 of 17 shots and having a save percentage of only .765.
5. Jeff: But Bill we got our first taste of the newest member on the team Gavin Trent. His rookie season as a backup goalie started earlier than expect when he was put in at 15:41 in the second period.
6. Bill: Yes Jeff, newest member signed two days before the first game of the regular season Gavin Trent stands at 6 feet 1 inch tall weighing 185 out of Cincinnati, Ohio. He doesn’t have much experience, but makes up for it in with quick reaction time.
7. Jeff: And he didn’t start off to bad while only facing 6 shots this game he only let one with a save percentage of .800.
8. Bill: Jeff we just got word that our Locker Room reporter Kelly has just started an interview with the Rookie goalie Gavin Trent lets listen in on it now.
9. **Camera changes to Locker Room focused on Gavin Trent**
10. Kelly: Hello Gavin, and let me first just welcome you to Vancouver.
11. Gavin: Thanks Kelly. I have only been here for a few days. The city already feels like home. It is in Canada, and the ice here could not be better.
12. Kelly: Let’s start off on your thoughts entering tonight’s game?
13. Gavin: Well I know we have a good team in Vancouver. We had just come out of our first game and first Win. We were feeling good again tonight and I felt like we had a really good chance at winning this game. Though the Mammoths are no team to go in expecting to beat as they had also just come off of a win.
14. Kelly: What was going through your head when Colorado scored their fourth goal, and the coach told you to replace Tyler No Nerves?
15. Gavin: You know it is tough as a backup goalie. You really want to go in, but at the same time you know there are only two reason why you would happen to get to go into a game. First being that the starting goalie got hurt or that he was letting too many goals in. Tonight it was the latter which as a backup goalie it’s hard to get in the right mindset when you just watched the starter get beat four times, and now you have to go replace him. I am already nervous because it is my first time going in as a Whaler and I do not want to let my team down then you add on that the team your facing is playing really well.
16. Kelly: Take us through your first save, and how you felt before and after the save?
17. Gavin: Well even though I was put in the second period I did not face my first shot until the Third period. Also was feeling pretty good because I had just watched Allen score and put us within one point. Which gave me an extra twenty minutes to prepare and warmup. My first save was a beautiful shot that came from Karl Jenkins, but it came from a distance I had enough time to reach my glove up and snag it out of the air. My relief that the first shot on me I saved with no rebound. This allowed to gather my thoughts before the next puck drop giving me a confidence boost. As the shot was coming in I was a nervous wreck, and I’m almost surprised I didn’t let that one in on that alone. I think letting my first save be such an easy stop because it was from a distance with no traffic in front was a mistake on Colorado’s part.
18. Kelly: I know you might not want to talk about it, but let’s go through the first goal scored on you. What do you think lead to it?
19. Gavin: I think my first mistake actually came off my second save of the night. You might think what do you mean a mistake on a save. Well it was again a pretty long shot as well as a grounder. So I just kicked it aside. I think if I had the chance again I would have covered that puck up. Not only would we have gotten another a little break, we would have gotten fresh legs on the ice. Which is always beneficial. As for the shot that went in. My reaction time was just a bit too slow for the one timer by Don Pellegrino. Colorado had gotten it into our zone and were moving the puck really well. When they sent a cross crease pass to Pellegrino, and he sent it home it was upsetting. Getting it to a one goal game and then me not being able to get over fast enough to stop the one timer. It was a heart breaker as I really thought we could comeback. Even though at that point we did still have a chance.
20. Kelly: Take us through your last few saves in the Third period.
21. Gavin: Both of my last saves were actually a lot like the play that they scored on. On the next save they were moving the puck well in the zone. The shot was on my glove side. My glove I think is my biggest weapon. I always like the surprised look on the opponent’s face when I snag a quick shot out of the air with my glove. It is always a satisfying feeling when I make those types of saves. My final save of the night was much like their first goal. They win the faceoff in our zone they are moving the puck well. Then they send a cross crease pass. This time though I get into position fast enough and he just shots it into my body and I am able to cover up the puck. Getting a shot in the body is not the most fun way to make a save. It is the easiest way to make a save though, and I am trying to work on leaving as little room as possible for shot to go in. I am 6 1 so I have to make myself bigger out there to take away space.
22. Kelly: What do you expect out of your rookie season?
23. Gavin I expect to be a backup goalie. I know a little boring. I do not think there is a better place to be a backup goalie though. First and foremost having a goalie like Tyler No Nerves being the starter takes a lot of pressure off me. I mean tonight he did not have his best game, but I think the rest of the season he will show what he is really worth. What does taking the pressure off me allow? To improve my game without much of the pressure of starting games. Also the goalie coach in Vancouver has already started to improve my game drastically I feel that my reaction time to shoots has already improved well behind what it was before. I will defiantly try and work hard to get the starting position, but I definitely do not mind being the passenger of a car that Tyler No Nerves is driving.
24. Kelly: Well good luck to the rest of your season Gavin
25. Gavin: Thanks Kelly
26. Kelly: Back to you Bill and Jeff
27. **Camera switches back to Bill and Jeff**
28. Jeff: Well I do not think we could have asked for a better interview from Gavin Trent. Gavin playing for his first game tonight with Whalers after only being signed a few days before. I think we are going to see drastic improvements from Gavin this year. What do you think Bill?
29. Bill: I really think we will see an improvement from Gavin. I think it will be a while before we see him next because Tyler No Nerves will play to his ability. I think it will be good for Gavin to see how Tyler No Nerves plays the goalie position, and will improve his game because of it.
30. Jeff: Even though it was a loss we got to see goals from Cody Black, VLAD McZehrl, and Geoffrey Allen. The offensive ability is there for Vancouver to win a lot of games this year, and with Tyler No Nerves in net I feel there is a good chance that the Whalers repeat this year. It is only the second game though and the rest of the season will defiantly show who is up to the task.
31. Bill: This team is well on its way to being top notch in the SMJHL this season.
32. Jeff: Well there you have it folks. A great interview from our backup goalie Gavin Trent. A not so impressive game from a winning stand point, but a lot of good things came out of this game. A lot of learning opportunities for the rookies
33. Bill Yes there is a lot this team still needs to learn. Well that is all the time we have for tonight Whaler fans. The crew of The Whalers Post Game Show wish you a good night. We will see you next time the Whalers play.
