  1. Original Title: Yi Tong Jiang San (医统江山)
  2. Author: Zhang Yu (章鱼)

  5. The title is a little misleading, since throughout the series the protagonist's doctor skills (from his previous life) is not the main trade he practices; it merely helps him create opportunities that he otherwise would not have.

  7. To put it shortly, this is the Chinese version of Game of Thrones (not the show please, but a comparison to the books) with a few differences. For one, the protagonist doesn't die of course. Number two, there are quite literally no dumb antagonists in this story, only less smart, smart and smarter - All of them are snakes. Number three, the protagonist's journey is one of the best, if not the best I've read so far. Without spoiling too much, the protagonist started as a prodigal, was sent away from home to work as a low level official, then through a series of events was forced to become a eunuch (no you didn't read this wrong, and no he didn't actually lose his thing the story's followers would have thrown a fit). As of now, he is a small ruler who has accumulated some power and looking to eventually conquer the world.

  9. How is the protagonist? He's one of the best fleshed out characters I've ever seen. His intelligence is astounding, and because he walks the knife's edge he seldom - couldn't because every wrong step means death, and he has made countless mistakes and missed ploys that resulted in various mishaps and near deaths - lets victory get into his head. His best skill is flattery. It's something people in real life totally should learn (appropriately toned to fit different cultures and tolerances, of course), because projected optimism, good will and a copious amount of back patting always gets people to feel positive towards you - even when they know you're lying to their faces. Which he does. A lot.

  11. But if you think this is purely political, that's not entirely correct. The protagonist's role changes through time, and although social politics is always important, there are times where force is what you need to make the kogs turn. The protagonists started out from a complete newbie, then realizes that in some situations without martial arts he's like a chicken waiting to be slaughtered, and so through flattery and self promotion (as someone else's pawn) begins to slowly accumulate a number of life saving skills. Within a short time frame he's among the top martial artists of the world, but appropriately the story balances out that he's akin to a time bomb who can implode the moment his Qi exceeds his body capacity (since he was never trained in the beginning to be a martial artist). While worming his way through the gutter he's also desperately trying to find a way to strengthen his body before the inevitable happens.

  13. As of now he did find a way to release that excess Qi energy, and it's a very comfortable method too. So veeeeeeeeeeery sexually awesome comfortable kind of comfortable.

  15. As for his love life, god, he's so good at this and it's completely believable how he eventually woes his lovers. THIS HIS HOW YOU BUILD A HAREM PEOPLE; YOU ACTUALLY HAVE TO DO THE HARD WORK AND NOT EXPECT WOMEN TO JUST FALL FOR YOU. AND THAT'S GREAT. Don't forget his lessons: Flattery and a face thicker than Mother Earth (and of course, that inner guts to actually do what you think you want to do) will get you anywhere, and in this case any p - uh, you get what I mean. But it's not all smooth sailing. and in fact there are still a number of skirts he chased after and still hasn't successfully woed (and some of them too damn dangerous to risk) unto this point. I count exactly 4 women off my head in the entire story that are truly pure of heart and lawful good, whereas the rest of his lovers are either snakes, ice queens, assassins, killers and snakes. Just snakes EVERYWHERE. Everyone has their own agenda. Everyone is working for their own interests.
