  1. Episode 1 Outline
  2.
  3. 1. Emily is sitting on her bed, crying and asking what went wrong.
  4.
  5. 2. Brief flashbacks of Emily's family are shown and start out with a happy but flawed family and gradually leads up to a broken and unhappy divorced family, where her father Jason is kicked out of the house by her mother Sarah and is ordered to not only stay away from the property but to never see Emily again. Thus Jason tells Emily quietly that if she needs him, he will be in "the region where the Nidoran roam". After that, Emily then starts to have flashbacks about her mother hitting her and yelling at her. The mother is shown to fix this by buying Emily various things afterward.
  6.
  7. 3. Emily starts to get angry and punches her pillows extremely hard. After she is done punching the pillows, she throws them across the room.
  8.
  9. 4. Emily calms down and starts to cry again while hugging a Cyndaquil doll, as she finds it to be the softest and therefore most compassionate out of all her pokedolls. She prays to Arceus and asks if it could help her out by letting her leave home to train pokemon three years earlier than usually allowed.
  10.
  11. 5. Before Emily can finish her prayer, her mother enters the room in and nervously asks if everything is all right as there was a lot of commotion coming from her room.
  12.
  13. 6. Emily sobs loudly and hides under her bed and pleads with her mother not to hurt her.
  14.
  15. 7. Her mother then tells her to come out from under the bed and when Emily refuses, she says she won't leave until she comes out.
  16.
  17. 8. Emily eventually comes out but is cautious when walking up to her mother.
  18.
  19. 9. Emily's mother gives her a hug and apologizes to her about separating her from her father that she held a close bond with. She also apologizes for dumping the divorce on her so quickly.
  20.
  21. 10. Emily tells her mother that it doesn't excuse all of the abuse she has put her through. Her mother tells her that between her teaching job, parental responsibilities, and dealing with the divorce, she can sometimes crack under the pressure.
  22.
  23. 11. Emily's mother says that every time she hits her, she genuinely feels bad about it and doesn't mean to do it. She then says she will buy her another pokedoll but Emily reminds her that she has no more places in her room to put them.
  24.
  25. 12. Emily's mom then comes up with the idea of moving a few of her dolls to her father's room. Emily is at first reluctant to do so since she thinks it would upset her father but eventually warms up to the idea because she sees this as a starting point to not only help cope with the divorce but to also repair her relationship with her mother.
  26.
  27. 13. As Emily is moving her Pokedolls into her father's room, she hears something fall down. She notices a light blue envelope with somebody's name on it. Before she can figure out what that name is, her mother knocks on the door and hides the envelope as quickly as possible.
  28.
  29. 14. A few days later, Emily is walking towards the kitchen when she sees her mother battling with a slender man who has short yet slightly spiky brown hair and wearing a long white coat. She sees the man's Nidorino using double kick on her mother's Clefairy named Penny. Penny looks badly injured but keeps going anyway. Emily the sees Penny perform a powerful Dig attack against the man's Nidorino.
  30.
  31. 15. The man's Nidorino is knocked out and he then sends out a Raichu. After nearly all their pokemon are knocked out, the battle continues until the man is declared the winner by using his badly injured Feraligator to take down Sarah's Luxio named Johnny using a rage induced Earthquake.
  32.
  33. 16. Later, the man and Emily's mother enter the house while having a conversation about their battle.
  34.
  35. 17. Emily watches the two converse from the kitchen and starts to wonder who the man is. One of her thoughts is that because he won the pokemon battle with her mother, that means he is her new father and starts to become depressed.
  36.
  37. 18. Emily's mother goes over to her daughter and introduces the man to her. He tells Emily that his name is Albert Silverman and that he has just gotten the job of being Sarah's assistant teacher.
  38.
  39. 19. At first, Emily says that's his code story for "I'm your new father" and aggressively tells him what he has to do to be a good father. Albert says that's not true and Emily explains that if her parents got divorced through a pokemon battle, then her mom can certainly get married through a pokemon battle as well.
  40.
  41. 20. Emily's mother tries to solve the problem and says that Albert's story is true by showing her the application he filled out and his battle records.
  42.
  43. 21. Sarah apologizes to Albert and explains to him about how much her father meant to her and Albert hugs Emily and says that he also misses his father. Sarah then takes him into another room to presumably continue the discussion.
  44.
  45. 22. While Emily still doesn't trust Albert, she will try and respect her mother's decision of bringing him into her life since he seems to make her happy.
  46.
  47. 23. The next day, Emily wakes up to find that she had slept later than usual and goes to find her mother. She searches all over the house until she hears some moaning coming from the guest bedroom.
  48.
  49. 24. Emily then finds Penny and her mother taking care of Albert, who has a faint shade of purple all over his body. Emily asks what's going on and her mother quickly explains that on his way to Iroko, he encountered a Vileplume who sprayed some Poison powder on him thinking he was going to attack it.
  50.
  51. 25. Emily's mother then asks for Emily to get dressed head over to Basswood City to pick up the medicine she ordered earlier.
  52.
  53. 26. Emily says okay and heads upstairs to get her bag and clothes on. She also notices the envelope from earlier and decides to look at what's inside of it on the way.
  54.
  55. 27. Emily heads out to Basswood while avoiding the grass in fear of getting attacked by a wild Pokemon. She makes it Basswood and heads to the local Pokemart, thinking that's where the medicine is.
  56.
  57. 28. The clerk in the mart greets Emily and observing her small statute, slides a box over to the counter to help Emily reach it.
  58.
  59. 29. The clerk recognizes Emily as Sarah's daughter and strikes up a conversation with her as he is getting the medicine. Emily tells him about how things aren't very good back home.
  60.
  61. 30. The clerk gives his sympathy and hands over the medicine to her. After she leaves the counter, she overhears the clerk talking to another clerk about how her mother divorced her father because he was spending more time with Emily than her and felt like she wasn't part of the family anymore.
  62.
  63. 31. When Emily hears this, she is crushed thinking it's her fault that her family is divorced. She then gets the idea to steal a bunch of pokeballs and potions to start her Pokemon journey early.
  64.
  65. 32. Because stealing is considered a sin in her religion, Emily is at first very reluctant to do it. However, the more she debates and looks at both sides of the situation, the more she wants to steal the items.
  66.
  67. 33. Emily eventually works up the courage and takes as many Pokeball and potions as she can while holding back her tears and books it out of the store as fast as she can.
  68.
  69. 34. While running, someone stops Emily in her tracks and asks if she needs help. She says yes and makes up a lie about how her pokemon wandered off and needs it to make a delivery. However, she says that by the time she finds her pokemon, she'll be very late with her delivery and have her boss get angry with her. Emily offers at least 1,500 pokedollars to help with the delivery.
  70.
  71. 35. The person accepts and Emily hands them the package. She tells them to head to Iroko Town and deliver it to Mrs. Hawthorne's (Emily's Mother's) house and adds that it's the two story house with the black mailbox and purple roof.
  72.
  73. 36. The person bids farewell and Emily runs into a nearby forest. She continues to run for awhile hoping to reach another town. However, Emily becomes extremely exhausted and realizes that she is lost. She stops and rolls up into a ball and constantly apologizes to Arceus for her misdeed and begs for help seeing as how she was about to pass out, which she misinterprets as dying.
  74.
  75. 37. Even in her condition, she continues to roam through the forest until she collapses. She soon awakes to find a pink Mareep by her side. Because she has rarely encountered a real wild pokemon before, she becomes frightened and tries to run but soon finds herself surrounded by other Mareep. When the Mareep show that they mean no harm, she starts to calm down and let the Mareep welcome her to their territory.
  76.
  77. 38. When she encounters the pink Mareep again, she thanks it for possibly saving her life by giving it a hug, to which the Mareep happily shocks her.
  78.
  79. 39. She thanks Arceus and decides to keep the pink Mareep which she names Eddy. Her faith in Arceus becomes stronger than ever before when Eddy is by her side. At this point, Emily becomes extremely excited and decides to venture to the region where "The Nidoran Roam", thinking that's where her father is based on the last words he said to her before he was forced to move out.
