  1. A friend got Twitter-hacked and asked what to do. (He could still log into his account.) I suggest these steps:
  2.
  3. 1. Revoke app permissions on Twitter
  4. 2. Using a clean computer, lock down email account associated with the Twitter account (change password, check alt. email accounts, review all security settings)
  5. 3. Change Twitter password
  6. 4. Change other account passwords that use the same login credentials/pattern as email or Twitter accounts
  7. 5. Clear cookies and browser data
  8. 6. Scan computers for adware/malware/viruses/etc.
  9. 7. Use annoyance as fuel for a good data backup audit
  10. 8. Have a richly deserved drink
  11.
  12. I'm sure this is missing things, but it's a start.
