**Object Class:** Euclid

**Special Containment Procedures:** All objects affected by SCP-1578 are to be held in a standard containment vault, located in Site-77. The inner walls of the containment vault have been covered in reflective surfaces. No other reflective surfaces are permitted within 15 meters of the vault. Security personnel assigned to SCP-1578's containment are to be armed with non-reflective weaponry and equipment.

**Description:**  SCP-1578 is a phenomenon affecting reflective surfaces that appears at a luminescent rainbow with varying size and color and a brightness of over 10,000 lux. Currently, 234 objects affected by SCP-1578 are in containment, including:

* Hand mirrors
* Computer monitors
* Photographs
* Reflective outer wall panels
* Jewelry such as necklaces, earrings, and bracelets.

When unconfined, SCP-1578 will affect any surface reflecting its location, using different reflections as a means of transporting itself. While it is theorized to be able to occupy these surfaces indefinitely, SCP-1578 will only persist in areas with human populations. SCP-1578 appears to prefer areas where subjects display low morale or express general unhappiness.

SCP-1578 displays some signs of intelligence, and will attempt to place itself near subjects who have displayed signs of depression. SCP-1578 affected objects will begin to display different images, seeming to have been specifically tailored for the subject. SCP-1578 will change its appearance from a rainbow to a variety of different images and moving pictures, reacting to any movements or expressions of emotion made by the subject.

When a human subject is able to view these SCP-1578 visions for extended periods of time, they may express feelings of happiness, euphoria and joy. Subjects affected by SCP-1578 will express a reluctance to leave objects SCP-1578 has affected, instead attempting to interact with these objects as much as they possibly can. Any subject found to have been affected in this way is to be quarantined for a minimum of 7 days after SCP-1578's effect on them has receded.

SCP-1578 was recovered from █████ California, where it had begun affecting buildings in the business district. Mobile task forces were able to isolate the area SCP-1578's effect had spread to, with affected objects were destroyed or removed. A cover story of extreme vandalism was disseminated to the public. SCP-1578 has been contained and classified as Euclid on 11/14/196█.

**Addendum:** A note was discovered on a building within the [REDACTED] area during initial containment, believed to relate to SCP-1578. A copy of this message has been included in the report.
