  1. — What is Glitch%?
  2. By exploiting how the game handles memory;
  3. You can obtain all 25 Crystals from one level...
  4. Then proceed to defeat all 5 bosses consecutively to beat the game.
  5.
  6. — How does it work?
  7. You bounce on top of a bouncy metal crate 201 times.
  8. Doing this builds up the "chain kill counter" (such as jumping on multiple enemies in a row)
  9. You spin and enter a crouch when you touch the ground after getting 201 bounces.
  10. (This preserves the chain—the game doesn't think you've landed)
  11. You then jump on 25 seals, making sure to spin & crouch before landing.
  12. (Each seal delivers 1 Crystal to your count)
  13. You then have 25 Crystals. Proceed on a boss rush to beat the game.
  14.
  15. — Why do you need to bounce 201 times?
  16. Getting the bounce count this high is digs into the memory.
  17. For example; When you chain kill enemies, you can get;
  18. Wumpa Fruit (2 or 3 enemy kills in a row)
  19. An Extra Life (5 enemy kills in a row)
  20. Taking the bounce count to high values above 200 starts giving you Crystals.
  21. Special items are stored at high values (e.g. Crystals are at 202-266)
  22.
  23. — Why on earth does it do that?!?
  24. Good question. I don't have a clue. But it works!
  25.
  26. — Why do you ignore Snow Go Crystal? Wouldn't it save time to get it?
  27. Believe it or not... but doing the glitch gets you Snow Go Crystal.
  28. Each Crystal in the game is assigned an ID (00 to 63)
  29. Snow Go Crystal has the ID of 14. Therefore, the 15th seal we kill gives that Crystal.
  30. (Since ID 00 gives a Crystal)
  31.
  32. — Wait... there are 64 Crystals?
  33. Yes. You cannot obtain more than 25 normally, but you can get 64 Crystals via this method.
  34. A lot of the Crystals are unassigned... and some are assigned in weird places.
  35. Here's the full list;

  62.
  63. — When you're about to enter a boss, Crystals on the levels are missing! How?
  64. The above list explains why.
  65. I'm only gathering Crystals with ID 00 to 24 (25 total)
  66. This is the minimum entry requirement to Cortex.
  67. Getting more Crystals would be slower; I'd have to kill more seals.
  68. As a result, any Crystal in the above list with an ID larger than 24 is skipped.
  69.
  70. — Why do you play this? It sounds incredibly boring...
  71. It's a nice break from 100%. It helps with boss practice, for sure!
  72. Who doesn't like to witness some Snow Go abuse?
  73.
  74. — What are you doing in Ripper Roo and Tiny Tiger...
  75. It's a really short run. And a very silly one at that, too.
  76. Gotta make it interesting somehow!
  77. Ripper Roo is autoscroll, so I do risky stuff for entertainment.
  78. Tiny is slow paced so I avoid jumping to showcase huge risk.
  79. Sometimes I'll opt out if I'm dying in these fights, though.
  80.
  81. — What do you think is possible timewise?
  82. I am certain an optimized PAL run will clock in around 12mins 10seconds.
  83. It'll be my longterm goal to aim for... it'll be tough.
  84.
  85. — World Record for this... glitched category?
  86. 12mins 13seconds by Me (SwordofSeals)
  87. 12mins 21seconds by SolarBowler is the fastest NTSC time.
  88. NTSC gains time on the bouncing (less air) and seal killing (faster spawn cycles)
  89. PAL gains time on Tiny and N.Gin (faster cycles, quicker boss fights)
  90. I feel Ripper Roo and Cortex are equal. I'm not certain on Komodo Bros, though.
  91. It's hard to say which version is fastest. I'll do some tests on NTSC in the future.
  92.
  93. That's all that comes to mind for now.
  94. Have a question that isn't answered here, feel free to ask.
  95. I'll be gradually updating this pastebin over time to make it more accurate. :)
  96. Thanks for reading... if you did, that is. Heh.
