  1. "Leave tomorrow till it comes..." Targos breathed.
  2.
  3. He sat there on a rock, upon some unknown planet, just watching the sunset.
  4.
  5. He went to reach into a pouch at his side, only to be annoyed that the arm he used no longer worked. He glared at it, all of his lower left arm had been incinerated, leaving only a charred stump behind. He sighed and gave up the idea of smoking.
  6.
  7. He looked around at his surroundings. The broken landscape, the craters, the slowly cooling corpses of four other people.
  8.
  9. Finally he looked at himself. His armour broken in so many places, his undersuit torn and stained with blood, what parts of his body visible bruised a dark purple. His once white gloves torn and drenched with gore. He shifted his body slowly, feeling it creak in protest.
  10.
  11. At one point in his life this would have been debilitating agony. He would have been out of commission for months. Now though? Now not so much. Replacing his arm would be easy enough, as well as any organ too damaged to be salvaged. His armour and undersuit easily replaceable with one of the many dozens he owned.
  12.
  13. He sighed. When did he stop caring? There was a time when he would have been filled with triumph at surviving this sort of grueling trial. His emotions tinged with pride at his superior tactics and planning. But after so many fights he just couldn't bring himself to feel anything anymore.
  14.
  15. He barely even remembered why he was here in the first place. Something about stopping the interference of a potential recruit? Who knows.
  16.
  17. The wind shifted, carrying the stench of smoke, dirt and blood. The tantalizing smell of burnt flesh. He grunted noncommittally.
  18.
  19. He used his remaining arm and hand to reach up to his scouter, tapping a button to cycle the channel. Finally after a few tries he got what he was looking for. Apparently a trio of Saiyan pods were just out in orbit heading this way, one of the three voices he heard must of been the recruit.
  20.
  21. Well, that was good, means he no longer had to wait around here. Tapping a few more buttons hey keyed his recall code, waiting for it to take affect.
  22.
  23. He didn't know what happened to nor particularly cared about this so called potential recruit. All he knew is that they better feel appreciative if he ever meet them.
  24.
  25. And just like that he was back in the Time Nest, being stared at by a horrified Chronoa.
  26.
  27. "Mission complete. I'm going home."
  28.
  29. She was too shocked to say anything back.
