  1. What is the difference between the median heights in mm of Doozers that are chased by sprockets at Fraggle rock compared to the median height in mm of Doozers that are not chased by sprockets at Fraggle rock?
  2.
  3. The first graph shows the original sample. The sample difference in median heights of Doozers chased by sprockets and not chased by sprockets is 1.3mm. Those that are not chased are taller than those that are. Median height of Doozers not chased – median height of Doozers chased = 1.3mm.
  4. The second graph is the re-sample graph which shows sampling variation, the blue blues are the medians of 1000 bootstrapped samples. If sample medians are calculated by repeatedly taking samples of same size from the same population, then the differences in this sample median illustrate sampling variation.
  5. Bootstrap is resampling with replacement from the original sample. Resampling from the sample produces a distribution which is very similar to repeated sampling from the population.
  6. The third graph shows the confidence interval for the bootstrap distribution. The difference of median in Doozers that are chased at Fraggle rock and Doozers that are not chased at Fraggle rock by sprockets fall in the interval of -0.3mm and 3.52m. This interval includes zero indicating that there is no comparative difference.
  7.
  8. Difference in median is between -0.3mm and 3.52mm (not chased-chased. Zero lies in the bootstrap confidence interval therefore I cannot make a positive call about the population, hat is whether Doozers that are not chased by sprockets are taller or vice versa because there are both positive and negative values in the bootstrap interval (between -0.3mm and 3.52mm)
  9. The median height of Doozers that are not chased at Fraggle rock by sprockets could be bigger or it could be smaller or the same as the Doozers that are chased at Fraggle rock by sprockets.
