(6:58:27 PM) Eric: The teleporter takes you to the mouth of cave in a cliffside. Behind you stretches a lush, tropical jungle. At the top of the cliff, the land slopes upwards to a smoking volcano. The book Hiroshi found suggested that this is the place to look for the orb of Calem-Sur.
(7:00:31 PM) Ket: John: "Cool! It's like we're Indiana Jones! We should have brought hats! And whips!"
(7:00:42 PM) Beth entered the room.
(7:02:50 PM) Cyndi: Shampoo stands at the edge of the cliff, whistling to herself at the sight of this place
(7:04:23 PM) Foxfire: Joachim: "Do you think it's inside the volcano? That's where I'd hide it."
(7:04:53 PM) Ket: John: "Totally! It's always in the volcano!"
(7:06:23 PM) Chris: Ky: "Unfortunately, it appears active. We'll have to exercise great care."
(7:06:30 PM) Cyndi: Shampoo: "It such a cliche, hiding important things in volcanos. You think someone would figure out a better hiding spot."
(7:07:20 PM) Ket: *John Shrugs* "There could also be a ruin in the jungle. Full of traps or something. That happens a lot too."
(7:08:45 PM) Ket: John: "Honestly though, we're not gonna learn anything just standing here. Let's explore!"
(7:09:14 PM) Foxfire: "I vote for the jungle. There might be bats in some of those ruins!"

(7:11:59 PM) Cyndi: Shampoo: "Are we done talking? Shampoo wants to get rid of these oni things now!"
(7:12:17 PM) Cyndi: The girl starts walking towards the opening
(7:12:24 PM) Foxfire: Joachim turns around. "Oh, there's a cave!"
(7:12:48 PM) Eric: The cave interior is surprisingly bright, with cracks in the ceiling letting in beams of sunlight in, most of them hitting a large pool of water that dominates the center of the chamber and then reflecting everywhere. Sections of the Cave walls appear to be replaced by artificial walls made of large stone bricks. It seems that this place has seen habitation before. The only exit out of this part of the cavern is a large wooden door.
(7:13:00 PM) Eric: More immediately relevant, though, is the trio of black skinned (Literally black, not dark brown like on humans.) human-like creatures. Two of them have double bladed swords and chainmail, the last is of them is wrapped in elaborate robes and has no visible weapon. One of the swordsmen shouts something in an unfamiliar language when he sees you and all three of them enter aggressive stances!

(7:18:36 PM) Foxfire: Joachim charges forward, swinging his trusty block o' timber at the one in the robes. Wizards are always trouble!
(7:19:56 PM) Eric: One of the blademasters vanishes in a cloud of smoke and reappears in front of Joachim, swinging his doublesword low to trip him up and possibly chop his feet off! [React, Joachim]

(7:22:00 PM) Foxfire: Joachim hops in the air and attempts to clothesline the fellow as he goes past.
(7:22:01 PM) Cyndi: Shampoo eyes one of the weapon-holders. She isn't armed but she trusts her speed and strength. The girl runs forward and tries to kick the weapon out of his hand.

(7:24:55 PM) Eric: Shampoo's foot goes through thin air as the bladmaster vanishes again, reappearing to one side to chop at her neck!

(7:25:19 PM) Chris: With the blademasters occupied, Ky rushes the priestess, using a Stun Dipper.
(7:25:37 PM) Chris: That is to say, he drops into a baseball slide to hit the priestess, then slash at her with his sword while still on the ground.+
(7:26:45 PM) Eric: The priestess, seeing Ky coming, shoots a bolt of lightning from her outstretched hand to intercept him! (Ky react!)
(7:27:24 PM) Cyndi: Shampoo gasps but uses her momentum to drop to the floor. She tries to unbalance the enemy's legs
(7:27:31 PM) Chris: Ky swings his sword, counting on its electrical magic to parry it.
(7:28:28 PM) Eric: Shampoo successfully trips her target rather than getting her head chopped off
(7:29:47 PM) Eric: Ky feels a nasty shock in his arm. He is able to finish his attack but his aim is throne off, and he merely makes  a large tear in the priestess's robes, who looks very angry about this.
(7:29:51 PM) Eric: John!
(7:30:34 PM) Ket: John came to this party unprepared and unarmed, but he can't just sit and watch. In a move that is likely to end poorly for all involved, he attempts to tackle the closest enemy. (Probably the one that was fighting Jaochim, at this point? )
(7:31:52 PM) Eric: The blademaster had dismissed a kid like John as not a threat, and thus this somehow actually works! John and the Blademaster go down in a tangled pile of limbs!
(7:33:11 PM) Eric: Both blademasters are on the ground, but the one that Shampoo knocked over blinks over to the priestess as he flips up to his feet. The priestess murmurs an incantation that causes the blademaster's motions to speed up

(7:34:22 PM) Foxfire: Joachim goes for an armlock on the one on the ground before it can hurt the kid.
(7:35:09 PM) Eric: Success! That's one blademaster disabled!

(7:38:50 PM) Cyndi: Oh she's not letting him get away from her, especially to regroup! But it's clear she's going to be pressed into a corner if she tries hand to hand on him again. Out of the corner of her eye, she sees the other weapon user is down, his sword prime for taking.
(7:39:01 PM) Cyndi: she runs over to try to arm herself.
(7:39:10 PM) Eric: Shampoo is now armed!

(7:40:15 PM) Chris: Blademaster and priestess in close proximity? Ky hits with a larger attack. He surges forward, surrounded by electricity, with smaller spheres orbiting the field. "RIDE THE LIGHTNING!"+
(7:41:43 PM) Eric: The blademaster takes advantage of his increased speed to dodge between the spheres and escapes unharmed. The priestess, however, enjoys no such advantage, and is stunned into unconsciousness.
(7:42:05 PM) Eric: The remaining Blademaster, seeing how outclassed and outnumbered he is, vanishes in a cloud of smoke

(7:42:50 PM) Ket: Now that that's over, John grins at Jaochim. "Thanks, man." And then turns to see what Ky is doing and just gapes in amazement. "Whoa! That was awesome!"

(7:50:51 PM) Eric: They wake up shortly after they are tied up and start struggling against their bonds without hiding it. They don't look like they're making much progress, though
(7:56:07 PM) Foxfire: Joachim: "Sit tight, you two! We'll be back!"
(7:56:19 PM) Ket: John moves to inspect the door. Based on your average adventure movie, the thing should be trapped somehow. Or at least have really cool runes on it.
(7:56:26 PM) Cyndi: With the enemies tied up, she turns to look at the wooden door. "Whoever hid that orb thing at least had good taste in fighters."
(7:57:30 PM) Eric: The door is made of some kind of dark wood.
(7:57:51 PM) Eric: it is slightly damp and may be showing signs of rot
(7:57:59 PM) Eric: you can see no sign of a lock or of any traps
(7:58:22 PM) Ket: Oh, well in that case he pushes it open.
(7:58:47 PM) Eric: the door sticks slightly due to water swelling, but otherwise opens without incident
(7:58:56 PM) Eric: Beyond the door is a hallway that goes forks to the left or the right. There is no sunlight here, but there are torches on the walls.

(8:00:08 PM) Cyndi: Shampoo: "Flip coin?"
(8:04:53 PM) Ket: John: "Good idea! We can use one of the coins we just got off of those guys."
(8:05:23 PM) Eric: The coins have some face you don't recognize on one side and a coiled snake on the other
(8:06:53 PM) Ket: John: "Heads we go right, tails we go left, okay?"

(8:10:27 PM) Foxfire: Joachim: "Right it is!"
(8:10:44 PM) Foxfire: He starts tromping down the hallway.
(8:10:52 PM) Eric: The hallways continues for awhile, then abruptly ends, revealing that you are stepping out of a hole in the wall of an immense chasm. You can see relatively safe land on the other side, but the only way across to get to it is on a rickety looking rope bridge. The bridge connects to a large flat area. From here you can see another door, but beyond that there are too many large rocks lying around blocking your line of sight. You can, however, here scratchy, high pitched voice chanting.

(8:13:02 PM) Ket: John inspects the bridge cautiously, reaches out a foot to test it's strength. "Maybe if we went one at a time?"
(8:14:43 PM) Cyndi: Shampoo grimaces at the shrill voices echoing in the room. SHe quickly shakes her head. "Shampoo's not going first, I can't see bottom of this place."
(8:15:11 PM) Foxfire: Joachim: "Well, if it can take my weight, it can take yours for sure!"
(8:15:51 PM) Foxfire: He edges out onto the first board.
(8:16:39 PM) Eric: It creaks a little, but holds his weight
(8:20:23 PM) Cyndi: Seeing how the guy didn't fall screaming to his death, Shampoo follows with one hand out as a balancer while the other holds tight to the hilt of the stolen sword.
(8:21:23 PM) Eric: The bridge wobbles and sways unnervingly, and there are a few unnerving creaks, but you make it across in one piece
(8:21:46 PM) Ket: Well, if all the kids are doing it, it must be a good idea. John carefully follows.
(8:22:22 PM) Eric: You now have a field of large rocks that you can pick your way through or a door to investigate
(8:23:38 PM) Ket: Doors are always more interesting. John is going to have a look at that.
(8:24:11 PM) Eric: The door looks very heavy and is made of metal
(8:24:19 PM) Eric: it is also locked and has a large key hole
(8:24:54 PM) Ket: John tries to peek through said keyhole.
(8:25:36 PM) Eric: the room beyond has rotted carpet that was probably once fancy. He can also make out a pillar, though not what is on it

(8:26:23 PM) Cyndi: Shampoo tilts her head, "what you see boy?"
(8:27:02 PM) Ket: John- "Guys! There's a pedastal in there. That's usually where the cool treasure is, right?"
(8:29:38 PM) Cyndi: Shampoo eyes the door before giving it a hard kick. Screw finding keys, she's not letting a door sperate her from treasure.

(8:30:17 PM) Eric: but no other effect

(8:31:50 PM) Foxfire: Joachim: "....What if you hit it even harder?"

(8:32:47 PM) Cyndi: Shampoo glares and tries again with even more force.

(8:34:24 PM) Foxfire: He smashes it with the piece of timber.
(8:34:39 PM) Eric: The door does not budge. That fucker ain't movin'
(8:35:12 PM) Cyndi: Hurt pride and feminine rage makes her kick it once more but she figures nothing is going to happen. It''s more to vent anger now than to get in
(8:35:41 PM) Eric: There is a resounding clong that sets your teeth rattling
(8:35:51 PM) Eric: in the distance, the chanting stumbles for a moment
(8:35:56 PM) Ket: For the heck of it, John is also going to hit the door. He doesn;t want to be left out.
(8:35:57 PM) Eric: as if the chanters thought they heard soemthing

(8:37:02 PM) Eric: John's hit makes a less noisy clong
(8:37:33 PM) Ket: John-"..... I don't think this is working."
(8:37:37 PM) Foxfire: Joachim: "....Did either of you just hear something?"

(8:41:15 PM) Eric: (Recap: Still sitting in front of an iron door, there's chanting coming from a field of stones to your right

(8:41:56 PM) Ket: John: "Umm.... it sounds like there are people over there..."
(8:42:22 PM) Chris: Cautiously, Ky walks toward the stones. His sword is out.
(8:43:15 PM) Ket: John follows cool lightning guy. In case there's more cool lightning stuff to watch.
(8:43:36 PM) Eric: You can pick your way between the stones easily enough. You find a clearing containing a dozen short, squat creature with pale skin chanting around a small raised area where one of their own is tied up. The raised area has an archway over it, with a mount on it that has jet black orb about the size of two fists put together, it's the orb of Calem-Sur! Beyond the clearing you can see what appears to be a large, mushroom forest.
(8:43:53 PM) Eric: Just as you arrive, the chanting comes to a fevered pitch, then suddenly cuts out. Something is crashing through the mushrooms up ahead.
(8:48:08 PM) Eric: It's an Ao Oni! The Oni grabs the tied up goblin and shakes it until it's neck breaks with an audible snap, then turns back to the mushroom forest. It stops before leaving, and then abruptly turns to look exactly at where you all are hiding!

(8:51:17 PM) Chris: So much for hiding. With several wide sweeps of his sword, Ky begins firing Stun Edges -- arrowheads made of concentrated lightning -- at the charging enemies!+
(8:52:16 PM) Eric: One goblin staggers and drops his club, but continues towards you with a feral gleam in his eyes, another is blown right off his feet and does not get up!

(8:53:23 PM) Ket: Well, the Ao Oni is probably the biggest threat here, so it's clearly time to do something intensely stupid. Like separating yourself from the group and throwing a rock at it's head. Because if it's busy chasing John, then the others will only have goblins to deal with for a while. (A while being the + or - 20 seconds it takes to rip John's head off.)
(8:54:59 PM) Eric: The rock bounces off of the Oni's head, which slowly turns to face John.

(8:57:45 PM) Cyndi: Pity she didn't notice John's move. Shampoo brings her sword close to her body before rushing through the goblin crowd - hacking and slashing while using her legs to kick away those too close.
(8:59:41 PM) Eric: Shampoo's expert flailing manages to hamstring one goblin, taking it down for the count. Another one would have lost his arm, but the shaman shouted something that intercepted the slash with a glowing shield!
(9:00:02 PM) Eric: Two of the goblins come up behind her as she charges and strike at her back with clubs!
(9:00:09 PM) Eric: Shampoo, react!
(9:00:12 PM) Eric: Joachim go!
(9:01:06 PM) Foxfire: Not a bad idea with the rock! Joachim picks up one of the boulders and heaves it into the crowd, trusting Shampoo's reflexes to keep her out of the way if his aim's off.

(9:02:31 PM) Eric: One of the goblins is flattened, but Shampoo is also in the path of the rock! React to that too!
(9:04:09 PM) Cyndi: Her strike against the shield causes her to body to shiver from recoil. She's not prepared for the surprise attack nor the rock!
(9:05:07 PM) Cyndi: She tries to jump to her left, away from both the attacker and the huge rock
(9:06:07 PM) Eric: The rocks narrowly misses Shampoo, but she does take a glancing glow to the back from one of the clubs. That's gonna leave a bruise
(9:07:26 PM) Eric: The goblins now attack in earnest. The generic goblins charge Shampoo and Joachim, clubs raised, the shaman covering the one Ky injured earlier in another shield. The conjurers both chant and summon a bunch of spectral blades that float through the air towards Ky!

(9:08:27 PM) Chris: Ky charges forward, but before the blades hit, he unleashes a burst of magical energy to blow them away!+
(9:08:32 PM) Eric: Meanwhile, the Oni starts moving towards John, ploughing right through the middle of the battle, sending goblins flying as he does. That its facial expression never changes or shows even the slightest spark of intelligence just makes it all the more unnerving

(9:09:11 PM) Eric: The blades aren't very sturdy and are shattered, by Ky is forced to stop his charge to get them all
(9:09:37 PM) Ket: John absconds in the direction of the bridge. He figures that it's big enough that it might be too heavy, and if he can get across fast enough, the bridge might collapse under it. He'll worry about the obvious problems a sudden lack of bridge would cause later.... +
(9:09:39 PM) Cyndi: Shampoo screams at Joachim, "Watch where you aim stupid!" before switching the sword to her other hand. That bruse is not allowing her to hold it properly with her right hand. She aims her swings at their arms and heads. +
(9:10:14 PM) Foxfire: Joachim: "Sorry! I think I've got the hang of it now!"
(9:11:07 PM) Eric: The Oni pounds after John, smashing aside rocks as he runs through the maze of stone.
(9:11:48 PM) Eric: Shampoo shatters the magical shield on the one goblin, and gashes another one, causing it to run away, tragically into the path of the oni where it is crushed.
(9:12:00 PM) Cyndi: Shampoo: "Sorry!? You almost kill me! Which side you on - THEIRS?"
(9:12:29 PM) Chris: Ky: "Stop arguing! There are more important matters to attend to!"
(9:12:33 PM) Foxfire: Joachim: "I said I was sorry! I'm not used to throwing things, that's all!"
(9:13:03 PM) Eric: (Joachim is still under attack by clubs, btw)
(9:13:07 PM) Ket: John is desperately trying to abscond as fast as he can. He's pretty sure this is going to end very badly, but if he can just go a little faster. Just a little, maybe he can make it.

(9:15:25 PM) Eric: (While we're waiting, Ky!)
(9:16:34 PM) Chris: Ky charges toward the spellcasters, wanting to get rid of the issue of their buffs. He launches more Stun Edges at them as he runs.+
(9:16:39 PM) Foxfire: He's beefy as hell, he can take it. He's gonna sweep that club around at the surrounding attackers.
(9:19:12 PM) Eric: More spectral blades appear around Ky, but his stun edges take out the conjurers before they can close in on him. As the conjurers are knocked out, the blades wink out of existance with a little pop
(9:19:16 PM) Eric: Joachim suffers a few glancing blows from clubs, but come on. They're GOBLINS, and he's a VAMPRIE. Goblins are sent flying like bowling pins.
(9:19:37 PM) Eric: John reaches the bridge a half step ahead of the Oni and is still on it when the Oni's weight causes the wood to shatter and the ropes to snap.
(9:19:45 PM) Eric: John is now falling to his doom
(9:19:49 PM) Eric: (John! Do the windy thing!)
(9:21:08 PM) Ket: John has no idea what you're talking about, strange voice in his head. And for some reason, this situation seems oddly familiar. But he's too busy panicking for that right now, so yes, he reflexively does the windy thing.
(9:23:35 PM) Eric: The cavern immediately fills with a veritable hurricane, originating from John, The goblins are blown who knows where, and the Oni falls to his doom. Somehow, John is neatly deposited on the lip of the ledge without even his hair being mussed
(9:24:07 PM) Eric: the rest of you are scattered around the Goblin's makeshift shrine, though.
(9:24:19 PM) Eric: The orb is lying on the ground. it was knocked from it's perch.
(9:24:33 PM) Chris: Ky had been blown off his feet. He scrambles back up. "What was that?!"
(9:25:07 PM) Cyndi: Shampoo groans from the wall she was slammed against, "Feels like Great Grandmother's training all over again...">
(9:25:11 PM) Foxfire: Joachim: "Some sort of air magic?"
(9:25:16 PM) Eric: You can hear more footsteps coming through the forest. It's obviously not something as big as the Oni, but it sounds like you're not quite done yet

(9:26:11 PM) Ket: John is just staring down at himself in amazement. "Was.... was that... me?" He turns to peer down into the cavern.

(9:26:27 PM) Chris: In his surprise, he wasn't about to let himself lose sight of the objective.
(9:26:42 PM) Eric: Just as Ky picks it up the thing comes out of the mushroom forest!

(9:26:48 PM) Eric: Dave Strider?
(9:26:59 PM) Eric: He looks subtly different from what you're used to, perhaps a bit older? On seeing that you already have the orb, he says, "Much as I hate to do this, I'm gonna have to take that orb. Let's make this easy."

(9:27:17 PM) Eric: Something about his tone makes you feel like giving him the orb would be a bad idea.

(9:35:14 PM) Eric: Two of them are stunned, and quickly fall back and vanish, the third manages to cut through his shield with a storm of ice crystals that freeze Ky's hand to his sword, before jumping back to look at a new direction to the attack from.

(9:37:21 PM) Foxfire: Joachim: "I promised Relm I wouldn't do this, but it's an emergency...!"
(9:37:27 PM) Foxfire: His eyes start glowing.
(9:37:47 PM) Foxfire: Dave (or one of them) may be feeling very weak in the knees.
(9:38:58 PM) Eric: Before he can do this for more than a second or two, a second Dave appears right in front of him with his hand held out in a "STOP" command. A glowing clock face appears in front of his hand, then shatters.
(9:39:01 PM) Eric: Joachim vanishes
(9:39:12 PM) Eric: (Shampoo)
(9:40:30 PM) Ket: John- "Holy shit! Dave! What did you do to him?!?
(9:40:42 PM) Eric: Dave fights in grim silence
(9:40:49 PM) Eric: wait
(9:40:53 PM) Eric: does...does he have headphones on?
(9:40:56 PM) Eric: yes, yes he does
(9:43:58 PM) Cyndi: She was planning on going easy on him seeing as how they had fought together before. But that last move was a big mistake. With a war cry, she charges and jumps at him with her sword raised high, ready to cut him in half.
(9:45:42 PM) Eric: A second (third? ninth?) dave that just appeared on top of a rock about thirty feet away yells a warning, and Dave spins around, parrying her sword with his own broken sword, then dances back towards Ky again, since he still has the orb!
(9:45:49 PM) Eric: John!
(9:47:16 PM) Eric: go!@
(9:47:17 PM) Ket: Even though he's only talked to this guy a few times (as far as he knows anyway) John still considers Dave a friend. Which is why this whole thing really bothers him. And the fact that he's ignoring them with the headphones just add insult to injury. So John is going to try to tackle the one going for Ky, with the eventual goal of getting the headphones off so they can properly yell at him.
(9:47:59 PM) Eric: Dave notices John coming and brings his sword around in a deadly arc...
(9:48:08 PM) Eric: ...that stops just before it reaches John's face. He can't do it
(9:48:22 PM) Eric: (Moment of hesitation! Ky go!)
(9:49:03 PM) Chris: At least Ky can still use the sword. He swings it at Dave, but makes sure to avoid hitting him with the edge of its blade.+
(9:49:44 PM) Eric: Dave is biffed upside the head by the flat of Ky's sword. One by one all the other Daves finish their stable loops and wink out of existance
(9:50:14 PM) Eric: Dave is flat on his face on the ground and not moving
(9:50:21 PM) Eric: (Though he's still breathing)
(9:50:51 PM) Ket: John- "Dave!!" He goes to check on his friend.
(9:51:17 PM) Eric: His friend groans as John checks on him.
(9:51:28 PM) Eric: He looks up at everyone with bleary eyes
(9:51:31 PM) Eric: Dave: "Fuck"
(9:51:35 PM) Eric: Dave vanishes
(9:51:49 PM) Eric: Underneath him is a large bronze key
(9:51:58 PM) Ket: John picks it up.
(9:52:04 PM) Eric: it looks like it might fit in the metal door!
(9:52:21 PM) Ket: John- ".... Does anyone know what the hell just happened?"
(9:58:38 PM) Eric: After the calm descends, Joachim appears again
(9:58:51 PM) Eric: from his point of view, no time has passed since Dave pumped him a minute into the futre
(9:58:53 PM) Eric: future

(9:54:40 PM) Ket: In the lack of response, he stands. "I'm gonna try the other door..." And goes to do that.
