ロビン・フッド／アイザック・ニュートン
Round 2:
Robin Hood / Isaac Newton


心やさしいイギリスのヒーロー！
▼わるい貴族たちから財宝をうばって、
まずしい人たちにわけあたえていたよ！
▲リトル・ジョンや、タック修道士らの
仲間といっしょに行動していたロビン・フッド。
弓や剣の達人だったぞ！

The Kindhearted British* Hero!
▼He stole the riches from corrupt nobility,
and distributed it to the poor people!
▲Robin Hood worked together with his
companions Little John and Friar Tuck.
He was also a master of both bow and sword!

“オレにまかせろ！”
“ありがとうございます！”
"Leave it to me!"
"Thank you so much!"

ロビン・フッド　『イギリス』　（1101年?〜1300年?ごろ）
イギリスで、いちばん人気のあるヒーロー。
実在した人なのか、伝説の人なのかは、いろいろな意見がある。
ノッティンガマのシャーウッドの森に住んでいたとされているよ！

Robin Hood　『Britain』*　（c.1101? - 1300?）
The most popular hero in Britain.
No one is quite sure whether he was real or just a legend.
He lived in Nottingham's Sherwood Forest!

ハロー！アロー！　森で合おう!!
Hello! Arrow! Let's meet in the forest!



やりはじめると止まらない！すごい集中力！
▼ゆで卵を作っていたとき、本に夢中になりすぎて、
卵とまちがえて時計をゆでちゃったんだって！
▲木からりんごが落ちるところを見て、
ものとものが引っぱり合う力＜万有引力＞　というものを発見したぞ。

Once started, he doesn't stop! Amazing Focus!
▼Once, when boiling eggs, he was too focused on
his book to notice he'd mistaken his pocketwatch for an egg!
▲Witnessing an apple falling from a tree, he discovered
the universal force that pulls on objects, known as gravitation.
[＜万有引力＞ directly translates to <universal gravitation> but is mentioned again in his info blurb]

アイザック・ニュートン　『イギリス』　（1642年〜1727年）
子どものころから化学の本を読んだり、物を作るのが好きだった。
才能に気づいたおじさんに大学進学をすすめられて
勉強を始めると、万有引力など、いろいろな発見をしたよ！

Isaac Newton　『Britain』*　（1642 - 1727）
He enjoyed making things and reading chemistry books since childhood. His uncle recognized his talent, and recommended that he begin studying at a university; he's responsible for [the theory of] 'universal gravitation', and various other discoveries!

リンゴが落下！　引きよせまっか!!

* Note 1: イギリス is the phonetic spelling of the Portuguese word "Inglez," (inglês,) according to the Dictionary. It references 'Great Britain/United Kingdom' and is usually written in kana alone. Versus just 'England', usually written with as 英蘭. Also, Great Britain includes England, whereas just saying England does not mean the entirety of Great Britain... In this case, it felt a bit more clear to say that Robin Hood was a "British Hero" versus "English Hero" when translating from another language and since both heroes had the same 'place of origin' in the source material.

** Note 2: I fixed the copyright in the pastebin for October. (http://pastebin.com/UvB6gW5V) I got the wrong kanji for the first Photographer's name. I'm not redoing the entire image and reposting it on Tumblr since it would screw up all links for something no one likely noticed until now. Just know that the one Photographer is "川上裕生" not "川上谷生".
